      Head and shoulders does not work for me at all. I had snowfall just rubbing my head a little bit, head and shoulders just halted it for a few hours and then dandruff came back with a vengeance, I could even more easily pick shards of skin off my head because of it.
      After getting sick of it, I bought Neutrogena T/Sal. That stuff works and keeps dandruff away after showering once with one generous use. I try not to shampoo often, like twice a week, but one time every two weeks I just use it, and for 2 weeks after using it, my dandruff is gone. The other 3 times I shampoo, I just use something else entirely, and that routine works for me.
      Still I want to try some of these out of curiosity, but I highly recommend T/Sal. And to each their own, but Head and Shoulders is terrible imo. Whatever works for you tho.

    I've used H&S for my dandruff and scalp seborrheic dermatitis and it has worked. Head and shoulders uses zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide in their formulations, which is why it works against malassezia or pityrosporum. Mike either didn't do very good research or choose to leave this detail out of this video. He also criticizes H&S for having sulfate in it but Nioxin, Kerastase and the Serie expert instant clear products have Sodium Laureth Sulfate in it as well. My suspicion is that Mike has some financial incentive to say the things he is saying in this video. Don't believe everything this guy tells you and do your own research. How can he come to the conclusion without the shred of a doubt, that H&S is ineffective? He can't! He is not a scientist, he is not a dermatologist and he is not a trichologist. He is just trying to stir the pot and get people to buy the products he is recommending. Here is a tip; If H&S is too harsh for you, Vanicream Free and Clear shampoo with zinc pyrithione. It's cheaper and contains less ingredients than what Mike is recommending here. Also, when using any medicated shampoo (zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, ketoconazole, etc) you need to understand that it's meant to cleanse and treat the SCALP, not the hair shaft. Concentrate on washing the scalp and ignore the hair shaft (conditioner is used to treat the hair shaft which is different topic). Lather (I recommend using a foamer bottle), apply to scalp, using a silicone brush makes this easy to scrub onto scalp and then let it sit for 5-10 minutes. The zinc crystals will then have ample time to absorb into the outer layer of skin on your scalp and also into the hair follicle. Malassezia or pityrosporum also lives in the hair follicle so letting the shampoo sit on the scalp is imperative. If you don't let it sit, it won't work. For transparency, which this video could use more of, I'm just a regular guy who works a 9-5 job (medical assistant) who likes to play on music on his free time and I have ZERO stake in this. You can look me up on instagram "alexneedles12" to see that I'm a real person. I just can't stand it when people are spreading bullshit so that they con you out a few dollars (not saying the products he is recommending are useless). If you want to try Head and Shoulders you should because it DOES contain zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide (depending on the formulation), which has been proven to work against malassezia or pityrosporum.

    Head and Shoulders has 2 ingredients list. One for active and one for inactive. U read off the inactive ingredients list. It does have 1% pyrithione zinc in it. There’s no way they would get away with lying about that if they didn’t, they would have lawsuits left and right.

L’Oréal Pure Resource shampoo he recommended I use it with a scalp scrubber, I shampoo twice and it’s absolutely incredible, the shampoo cleans extremely well and the scrubber helps slough off the flakes. A shampoo is meant to clean not condition, unless is a 2x1 which is usually not great for oily hair, your shampoo can have strong surfactants if you need them. For example for oily hair, short hair, Asian hair, seborrheic dermatis, straight hair, thin hair that needs volume, etc. The type of shampo you use is personal, depends on hair type and concerns, budget and lifestyle.

    Something that really helps prevent dandruff that I stumbled on is you need to clean your hair brushes and combs at least once a week with warm soapy water. The oils in your hair, and the yeast, collect on brushes and combs and if you don't clean them off regularly you're just re-introducing them to your hair and scalp every time you use them.

    I've noticed that they changed up the formula around 2019 or so and it doesn't work as good. I've added a scalp scrubber and conditioner. If I could find something else I'd switch. I feel like I'm fighting a losing war every day but If I stop using it for even a few days my scalp gets terrible and takes a week or more to get back in decent shape.

  • @EGZODYA
    @EGZODYA 2 роки тому +1

    First of all head and shoulders is not even for dry hairs it doesnt make dry scalp get oily and treat dry scalp, its quite the opposite its for people that have seboreic dermatitis which is extreme case of oily scalp to a point scalp creates scar tissue kind of big eczama looking giant dandruffs and scab, so head and shoulders to fight that makes your scalp get EXTEREMELY DRY by removing all oil from it so its main purpose is to fight oily scalp, not treat dry scalp LMAO....
    put scalp aside rub head and shoulders on your face it will start burning when you leave it for 5-6 minutes its cause again it removes everything and makes skin DRY AS FCK.
    so head and shoulders is for scalp actually and not for hair it also drys the fck out of hair its not a good shampoo for hair its very damaging and drying for hair but for seboreic dermatitis dandruff its best shampoo, you can even use it on your body too or use it as face wash if you have oily eczema, there is literally no better shampo that removes oil from skin better than head and shoulders.
    its also good for every oil based skin issue like acnes and cyst etc, remember accutane ? a pill people use that makes their body dry as fck and it removes all of their skin problems cause their skin becomes dry and acnes and eczema and everything goes away, its literally same thing.

      The bad thing about Nizoral: strips a lot good sebum of your hair. Let’s your hair dry. So I’ll try this Kérastase.

    Okaaay but when you can't afford Kerastase products (very expensive) et not even shampoos in the pharmacy because of the cost of life, well you don't really have a choice

    Hey! I have a question . Is it good to use shampoos from actual hair salons like example my mom works at a hair salon called aveda and she gets the shampoos free for me and usually there 30-45 dollars for a normal customer and if u know if it’s safe to use shampoos from salons like that I would appreciate if u would reply with your answer :) I’m just not sure though because I’ve never seen anything and my hair has never had problems but I’ve wondered if there’s something I can’t see? Ty if u mssg me!

    Both Kerastase and L'oreal Professionnel anti dandruff shampoos are extremely drying to the hair, completely false that they are nourishing the hair. That is true, that they are effective against dandruff, however the Kerastase is double the price of the L'oreal Professionnel, but the ingridients and the ammount of ingredients are 95% the same in both.
