The song is a farewell to the singer's grandmother. He was dealing with addiction and depression at that time in his life and wasn't there for someone who was so important to him.
the crowd at the funereal were all fans of the band invited to be extras in the video, they were filmed multiple times to fill out the crowd as there wasnt that many actually there. one of the fans was even used as the sixth pallbearer at the end with the 5 bandmembers. one of the band members, guitarist Frank Iero, is so short he could only just put a hand on the coffin and not help carry it. also the rain as the carried the coffin out wasnt planned it just happened to be raining the day they shot, and it worked really well for them.
This was written for his grandma. He felt he let her down by not being there for her enough in her latter years.
Nice reaction guys 👍. I agree, they do sound similar to Foo Fighters, lots of energy! Although this song only had moderate commercial success, any My Chemical Romance fan will tell you it’s one of their very best - a great song from a great album. I like a band with a strong visual aesthetic, and the black, red and white really work for them. Such a brilliant music video. Definitely deserving of a full glass of wine. Thanks for sharing 😊👍
"Jon 'y' Cash", not gonna lie that's a really cool and creative name lol great reaction you two!✌😎
Yep their parents might be big fans
Good work Sam 👍👍
@@jono1167 Thanks Johnathan! ✌
The grandmother of the brothers in the band passed away. Her name was Elena. She was very supportive of them and they missed her a great deal - so they wrote this song.
I think my chemical romance is the greatest/most important band of my generation. I’m 28. I was 12 when this album came out. And it completely changed me forever
Same, they are also criminally underrated.
I'm 57 and I agree with you.
This is my fav band since 17 years, so nice to see an older generation like me actually appreciate it ( but yeah you need to see more, you weren't convinced I saw it,lol) Hugs from Sweden though, might check more of this channel if more MCR.
You got it right Cash with the full glass !!! You and Jon were both great !!!
You've tapped a vein, this band have achieved legendary status for an entire generation, it's a very well done video and a well written song, I love the melody of the chorus, good video reaction, thanks.
Nice reaction to a nice song!
MCR are a great and underrated band, imo, and their sings and videos are always interesting and exciting (they always have a message to pass on!)
Thanks for a nice reaction ! 👍
Love it!
Wow glad to see u here!❤
Love this song and band
You should listen to Mama by My chemical romance, its my favorite song!
Great reaction and nice addition with Jon. This would have been a good one to do for Halloween 🎃
I agree, it would be perfect for Halloween. Very goth. ! Have a great weekend Marissa 👍
"Welcome to the Black Parade" is something everyone seems to love...by My Chemical Romance. You may truly love that...its a singular song and one of a kind.
Gerard has such an incredible voice. They are very artistic, interesting, and seem to care about their music; rather than so many just in it for the fame & money.
My daughter liked these guys and I found them so good so became a fan myself.
Gerard actually wrote this after his grandmother passed away.
Instant Subscribe! Thanks for your content! I will be following very closely!
This reaction was awesome! You guys should react to The Ghost of You! Its an amazing song with a beautiful video
About the "music without the video" : yeah. It'd be different.
This song by itself is "above average".
This video is one of the best thing ever. It's... awesome on so many levels. Style, rhythm, visuals, colors, attitude, originality...
This video has been in my top-3-of-all-things for... about 15 years ?
It elevates the whole song.
And this is an... "emo band". So that's fine.
Let me explain that...
If a top tier advanced progressive technical band needs a video from the song to be interresting... that kind of sucks.
But... I don't personally hold a pop/rock/emo/punk band to the same standards.
And MyChemicalRomance, being a rather theatrical band with a creativity that goes beyond the music itself... I'm kind of 110% onboard with "needing the video to get the full power of the song."
I was about 12 or 13 when this song came out, and it immediately got me hooked on MCR. Fast forward seventeen years and they've been my favorite band basically ever since.
No the way that I living for this !!!
Good morning Cash. Good morning Jon. I have to be honest, I didn't care for the video but liked the Jon `y' Cash!! That was great! 😁👍
well done!
I like listening to your commentaries because it's fairly straight forward and genuine and I like to see what you pick out in the video and I loved Jon's lack of enthusiasm because to me that means he's just being genuine and I've seen enough reactions I feel are too overdone. I could have listened to you two awhile longer.
I love MCR alot this was the gateway to them and its such a amazing music video. Another band that was big locally here and i would say isn't as wide spread known as MCR but i get similar vibes is Billy Talent if you guys are curious to check it out i would recommend: Devil in a midnight mass, River below, Try Honest :)
That first chorus hit and you were sold
BADLANDS....WINTER'S CALL.
Love the song and the meaning behind it. I felt your reaction was a little weak though. Spent a lot of time on the video not the lyrics. But then again it it’s a video reaction I guess that’s fair enough. Maybe do a lyric reaction and see how the song hits you. Keep it up!!
2 hugely popular reaction songs: SOS by Dimash and Ghost Love Score by Nightwish (Wacken 2012). Or just more MCR :)
Nice
2:07 Britany Murphy
My chemical romance a banda emocore, rock alternativo, pop punk,Post-hardcore, Post-punk
Very cool name with your friend :) . Please react to Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken13, I really think you will need 2 bottles ;)
Ghost Love Score has been recorded and will be on the channel soon!
😆
You were definitely stitched up by a niece or nephew going through the trials and tribulations of being 14 years old to react to this track first hahah.
"Jon 'y' Cash" is catchy! Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, he's welcome as often as y'all feel like getting together for a reaction. As for the video and song, I have to be honest, it just didn't do it for me. It's not the worst I've heard or seen though. Brews: 🍺🍺
can you please react to Lil Peep - Awful Things? thanks so much
Never has there been 2 people with less to say
What is this Joan Rivers and Robert De Niro reacts? 😂
I dont like the song but I do like the reaction video. Wishing you a great weekend 🙂👍
Lol I'm sorry but this was by far the worst reaction channel I've witnessed. But hey keep doing your thing I'm just one guy.
