I bought one. Its worth it but in some ways I regret it. I am a casual shooter and practice mostly with the 22 and the carry piece. The xc is way too big for me to carry so it gets 80-200 rounds/week depending on what else I brought and how much time I have. It sounds silly bit it has actually saved me money. I wanted to collect more pistols and bought this when it was available. Since then, basically every other pistol feels like the money is better off somewhere else. You can do different, but you can't do better in any attribute without making significant sacrifices somewhere. For a full size pistol the XC is definitely sitting on the optimal tradeoff curve.
I hear you there and 100% agree! I have a little over a dozen STI pistols, in various 1911 and 2011 frames/models and a few other models/makers (FN, SW, SIG, etc) ….I managed to get my hands on an XC slide and island barrel earlier this year. Fortunately, I was able to take them to Benny Hill (if youre not aware of him… give him a lookup) and he made me my own little BHXC 😂 …… now, all but a couple of my pistols just seem …. Bleh
Man…I totally agree. I’ve put enough $$ into my P, C2, and now CS…to have bought a couple of XC’s. I’ve got an EDC X9 with upgrades that surpass the XCs cost. I’ve also got a couple of Buls that cost more than an XC, with SRO and light, would’ve cost. I know none of them can touch the XC. I feel like buying one would ruin it for the rest. Weird feeling but…being honest here.
Awesome review, praise be the YT algorithm for delivering this to me. I was considering getting one since I like my Staccato P so much. One thing about the optic, I've found that in a lot of cases, blue just doesn't do the trick. I recommend VC3, it's the only thing short of red loctite that has actually worked. You just apply it to the screws, let it do its thing for 30 minutes then tighten it down.
I am shooting USPSA limited optics with a Staccato P. I am at 14k rounds and I log every time I shoot, every time I dry fire, every time I clean. I have changed the recoil spring twice and clean at least every 500 rounds. At around 9k rounds, I had a gunsmith break the pistol all the way down for a full cleaning and inspection. Like you, the reliability has been phenomenal. I wore out a magazine and ended up changing the springs in all of them. I also use an SRO and I have had spent casing stuck under the front lip of the optic. All in all, completely fantastic.
Good video. Thanks. I replaced my 7lb spring with the duty recommended 10lb. Great for shit ammo and lack of cleaning. Im only at 2700 since September 23. So relatively low round count but titts so far. Run that bitch dirty, but wet. And for Gods sake dont use red lock tite.😅 word.😂😂 learned that lesson with my P models.
The staccato xc only fits into open division. Not only is it single action only but it also has a compensator built in. You can use 1911’s in single stack division, and 2011’s (such as the staccato p or atlas Athena) with optics fit into the new limited optics division. The xc isn’t a great choice for open because it’s only rated for minor power factor, which puts it at a disadvantage to “real” open guns. But if you only shoot alphas then that doesn’t matter 😉
@@hammerarmament yes that was how I understood it. And my apologies when I meant 1911 I meant ds1911/2011 style. I run an atlas Athena personally for LO division. Been using your thunder classic holster and Odin mag holders. For about 9 months. Absolutely love them. So much so I recently ordered another one for my staccato c2 just cause why not lol And yeah It’s the reason I couldn’t punch it yet on the xc cause there’s no point cause I’m not gonna run open with it. It’s a complete disadvantage against the frame mounted optic race gun everyone runs. With major power factor.
This is the first video of yours I have seen. Just the Yankee Marshall bit was enough for me to subscribe…turns out it’s a great video and I love the channel!
Wow, great video and staccato discussion. I feel similarly about the “P” love it will do anything reasonable. Yankee Marshall bit was hysterical, I will not ever watch any of that content period.
Light primer strike is not a gun issue. That’s an ammo issue. Failure to go into battery is also likely not due to the gun. It’s likely the end users fault. Issues in the cold? Also end user error.
I had the same optic plate issue with a poor man’s 4.25” Prodigy . My problems were more related to Cerakote in the threads and once I re-tapped the treads cleaning all that garbage out, my optic stopped flying off the firearm.
😂 wise ass. Id work with ya. I just bought my XC this year. Call it an upcoming retirement gift to myself. Strangely, in 19, thats what i told myself with the P model.😅 Only 1300 or so in but i love it. Duty carry, concealed carry, all the carry. Did swap rexoil and firing pin springs to the 10# 5" standard. Needed a little more ass than the 7# to combat my distaste for cleaning.
I definitely appreciate this video especially when properly giving a firearm the marathon run. Personally, I've been saving up for one as a self-gift for when I graduate the Police Academy. Knowing that this pistol is a worth it investment cements my goal. Thank you for sharing, I love the sarcasm/ realism.
Just make sure the 2.5lb trigger is approved for carry on your department before you order/purchase. Staccato will make yours with a 4.5lb, which may be better for duty carry.
The Dawson optic screws strip so incredibly easy. I've ordered a bunch of Torx RMR/SRO screws from Jagerwerks. Paired with Vibra-TITE. I've never stripped one of them and I've never had one come loose. Much more surface area bit engagement on the screw head. Doesn't strip and I'm not twisting/snapping allen keys trying to break them loose. I use those Jagerwerks optic screws on all my Staccatos, Glocks and 1301T.

What do you use that carrot on the bench for? Just watched your Athena & XC videos back to back, currently on the market for a 2011. As a non-competition shooter that is a pretty decent shooter and wanting a gun that don't need to be tinkered with, which do you recommend? Your videos alone guarantees a holster sale, any feedback offered would be icing on top.
Nobody has caught on to the purpose of the background enigmas yet. If you don’t plan to compete( you should though) I would suggest the XC. It can hang with other 2011’s as far as speed, accuracy and the pleasure in shooting. It just doesn’t fit well into most competitive shooting divisions. You really can’t go wrong with it.
Great video. My P, duty carry, just broke 11,000 rounds since last November and it looks pretty similar to yours but runs smoother than ever. Love the sense of humor. Subbed.
Hi thanks for the video just want to know if you had to tune your extractor and magazines during this time and at what round count did this happen, thanks
@@jermainejacobs9962 I didn’t tune either. I had a few of the original mags that probably could have been tuned, but once they started to wear a bit I just made them dedicated dryfire mags. No idea on what round count that was. It was a while ago and I don’t track that per mag.
@@ctowen5222 I mostly ran 147 gr from a few different manufacturers. 150 gr syntech was noticeably softer but not enough to justify the price. 124gr felt a bit faster and not much more felt recoil.

$8290 Australian dollars. Limited to 10rnd capacity only. Extra mags are pushing $270 each. I have a Holosun 508T ready to go. It’s a ridiculous amount of money, but I can’t seem to get past buying one. Great long term review 👍👍
That is insane. And from what I understand in Australia, you have to leave it locked up at a shooters club? So 8k+ for something that will never fully be yours. I understand that guns can be had in Australia and other countries make it so difficult to get, and so easy to lose. Why gun culture in other British colonies and commonwealths has mostly died off.
I think 2.5 is fine for carry but you have to get used to it if you have been using heavier triggers. I probably wouldn’t want to go any lower than 2.5 on a carry gun but it’s great for the range/matches.
@@hammerarmament I have the Hakko FX888D, I set it at the highest setting which gets up to I think 899 F. Kinda expensive just to remove loctite but it's pretty useful if you also need to solder things.

I honestly have no idea where you’re from but I’m pretty sure if you heard me talking/cussing, you’d know exactly where I’m from. Or at least the general direction. Great info on top of the humor as well. Nicely done.
What holster do you recommend for the XC with a X300. Just carry not competition. thanks
Hammer Armament Loki holster for IWB carry.
First time seeing this guy and I love him. Awesome content thank you...PS: I see what you did there with the trigger pull test 🤣
1:52 spoken like a true dairy farmer
What combo of bullet weight and velocity do you find works best with the comp?
@@ctowen5222 I mostly ran 147 gr from a few different manufacturers. 150 gr syntech was noticeably softer but not enough to justify the price. 124gr felt a bit faster and not much more felt recoil.
Thank you for making my day brother. Love how you roll. The finger at the end with the trigger pull gauge was absolutely priceless! On top of being extremely entertaining, your content was also very useful. Im going to check out your products. See you on the next one.
@@Genevasuggestions1
You can store them at home.
You do have to complete a minimum of six recorded shoots per year though.
Great objective video about a gun that has so much press about it. No BS. Absolutely subscription earned
Thanks!
I couldn’t really give a shit less how it compares to an XD. Those two guns have nothing to do with each other. You can keep that shit to yourself.
You okay buddy?
I'm assuming the finger at 14:26 was intentional, because it has me dying laughing.
🤫
What about the slide to frame fit? Jiggly like a Glock out of the box?
No, not at all like a Glock.
Your honesty is so fucking reassuring and entertaining at the same time.
Loved the “trigger pull”. Just subbed.
8:45 you can use a soldering iron to heat small screws.
@@PhalanxR I did try this, but not all soldering irons actually get hot enough. If I had a better one this might have done the trick.
2.5 or 4 lb trigger for a lot of range and some carry?
I think 2.5 is fine for carry but you have to get used to it if you have been using heavier triggers. I probably wouldn’t want to go any lower than 2.5 on a carry gun but it’s great for the range/matches.
I'm looking to buy my first 2011. How does Wilson Combat 2011 stack up against the Staccato?
I honestly don’t know. I haven’t shot a Wilson combat pistol in years.
@@hammerarmament Ok thank
lol best video ever
You rock!
Subbed.
High temp soldering Iron is a nice way to put heat on small screws without burning things up, that's how I do it anyway, ymmv.
@@mike-synthetica I did try this. I tried several soldering irons and none of them got hot enough to defeat the red loctite.
@@hammerarmament I have the Hakko FX888D, I set it at the highest setting which gets up to I think 899 F. Kinda expensive just to remove loctite but it's pretty useful if you also need to solder things.
Awesome vid
Love the trigger pull guage lol
Nice

I think we need to be friends. Then we can watch cat videos and complain about the quality of the videos.
Deal. Friends for life.
Deploying cat videos now!
