      Gosh… these tough question 😂. Knowing what I know now, I’d probably lean on the XC. While I make my comments about how it transitions, I know it’s a learning curve that I could accommodate. I appreciate the stability of the platform and love how it cycles. A couple of things I would probably do… maybe a 9lb variable recoil spring (I prefer a touch more snap), aluminum grip to help with the balance, and a longer trigger shoe for my preference!

    TRS stands for Thunder Ranch special. Odd that it has the manin spring retainer pin for a mag well. Not correct for as figured. I assume you took a mag well off?

      I think I prefer your name for it 😂
      Good eye, it had an aftermarket Magwell on it that the owner put on. So for the review, I took it off because that’s how it came originally and I did not have a retaining pin for that length.

      @@TheGentlemanGunner I have the original TRS which was by Les Baer. He thinned the frame and it is hard fit. Unreal accuracy.
      It was my edc for years but now days, bueing near 70, i t got a little heavy. It is now a Staccato C-2 that I thinned the grip and stippled and ported and integral comped it finishing by 1 micron diamond lapping the bore. Dead accurate and a very soft shooter for such a light gun. But it is no Baer! ;

      so i take it out of the safe and shoot a little and am still amazed at the accuracy and smooth action.
      Being hard fit, you would think it would be unreliable.Thousands of rounds and only issue has been failure to lock back every once in awhile with Wilson 47D mags. never a ftf, never a fte. Always dead on.
      Folks that tell you that a 1911 is undependable have never owned a really well built 1911 or 2011. My Staccato is accurate and never an issue but it is no Les Baer.
      I met Mr. les years ago when he was campaign his record holding Mustang Drag Car. . He held the record for a while. man he can drive!
      We hit it right off. He didn't mention his 1911 business. I learned later who he was in the 1911 world and gave him a call. I have small hands and he suggested the thinned TRS Model. Been in love with it ever since I got it. Probably 15 to 20 years now and completely dependable the entire time! I think they replaced the TRS with their Gun Site Model.

    Ds9! Been using it since early 2021. Solid 25k rounds before I had a major malfunction (not to mention I had very little malfunctions in general) Phil and the guys in the ds9 department took care of me and essentially replaced the gun. Now I'm at 3500 on the new build with zero malfunctions of any kind. Such a well built gun for the correct price point which is where all the others fall off for me!

    I had a chance to handle a Stacatto XC today at my LGS. I was surprised it didn't feel great in my hand. For perspective, I've been shooting CZ Shadow 2 and S2 Compact mostly, so the XC beavertail grip safety was a challenge for me and requiring a learning curve. My grip was apparently too high. I was placing my thumb on the thumb safety with my medium sized hands clearly didn't engage the grip safety. Once I focused on putting the grip deep in the web of my hand, all was good. Trigger was great as expected. (Newbie issue I'm sure) After this brief non-shooting/handling preview, I think I'd prefer the MPA DS9 or similar style 2011's with Cheeley style grips. Just an interesting data point.

      Well… they are still my main competition gun and while there are things I like about the other guns in this video… something that sticks out is their customer service… amazing. I have the XC and my DS9 Ported. My DS9 grips feel slippery all the time. I really like the DS9 but the slippery grips make the XC the winner for me (just got the XC) if the DS9 had the texture of my Atlas Artemis I think the DS9 could flip my opinion quick.. Someone mentioned the Bul Air below, even though the texture on my Bul AIR is better, I think that the DS9 still better than the Bul. If I can figure out the grip texture, the DS9 would be a close second to my Atlas. Perhaps I just got an odd set of grips. If I would like to put my hands on another DS9 just to see. Regardless I still want to compete with it.

      @chipreier1 5 місяців тому

      I bought the DS9 the same way, it was in stock in a local gun store and it was also my intro to competition 2011's. I'd say you must have the regular texture grip because the aggressive texture is definitely grippier than the rough textured XC. Give them a call, I'm sure they can verify which texture you have. I think they sell the aggressive grip seperately, but I'm not sure how much fitting you'd need to do.
      How much better is the ported vs unported DS9? I've been thinking about having mine ported.

      @@chipreier1 I’ve really enjoyed it ported. I’m not a groupy but if the gentleman did it and he has skills already, I figured it could only help. He gives great advice and I really appreciate those that I follow on UA-cam opinions. Every competition style gun I have minus my Atlas was based off of his, the humble marksman’s, and the honest outlaw’s reviews. DS9 ported awesome, Bul Air awesome, XC koolaide drinking awesome, Atlas Artemis - beyond awesome. Now I just need to go out and find a place to compete and be the guy with the fancy guns that gets smoked by some kid with a Glock 43x or a slingshot. Not many competitions in SW OK.

    Great video, What you forgot to mention is that the Staccato XC is under sprung when compared to the TTI and the TRSC.
    The XC is running a 7lbs recoil spring while the TTI and the TRSC is a 9 lbs recoil spring.
    That is one of the reasons why you maybe favoring the XC over the other guns.
    That is one of the other reasons why the Atlas Erebus is such a soft shooting gun because it's also a 7 lbs spring, lighter slide, slightly bigger comp, and it's hand tuned just like the Nighthawk.
    Either way every comp gun out there does something better than the other.
    I do love that polymer grips can flex but for some odd reason I still prefer the texture of a metal grip which it's why I lean more towards Nighthawk & Atlas.

Super fast reloads and accurate shooting. I held a viper being a by far rookie gun enthusiasts, but terran can make the best speed shooting guns around. Out of all you can actually air rack the viper as Wick did and that tells you proper weight, speed and accuracy matters being how many people constantly trying to hunt Wick. @@TheGentlemanGunner Please do explain how I’m wrong? I just went back 5 years and played a video of theirs. Sure enough it’s been on every one since Clint joined the channel back then and yet your account is 2 years old. So how am I wrong exactly that they didnt have it first?

      Never seen a gun channel use the same intro as another. Think im gunna start posting reviews myself and use the rock ballad from the Military Arms Channel cause its sweet then say I didn’t copy him too.

    Great video brother...I know this took a lot of effort to put together.
