Teaching a friend currently but gonna take a long time just wish I knew somebody who already knew how to play
GET the comment for Luke to 669 lol
Next video: How to get a friend
aahahaha here i am
And the next: how to get a friend ho plays guitar
In 6 minutes
Or more likely: How to get a guitar-playing friend
My problem is that my friends are morons who either don’t play guitar or suck at it. Cheers to the loser team
Metalcore is by far my favourite genre literally because of how it's structured. The controlled chaos is amazing! You showed this perfectly in this!
Dan Hinchliffe agree on this. only some people will understand
I'm Totally Agree
I am a junky for octive changes, palm mutes and slow stretched out breakdowns with that funky junk layered on top. The structure that Metalcore follows is by far my favorite. Also one of the funnest forms of metal to jam and write. 100% agree
Your like controlled chaos? You might like Opeth and Obscura
@@nythrumkthunis8291 some people think the vocals are wack and maybe they don't like satan stuff. I love both
Haha I like it. I felt like I was listening to a Killswitch Engage song 😂
fuck yes!!! I love that group!!! \\m//
Ironman52398 or even older All That Remains

Ironman52398 same😂

I don't think you're the only one... xD
Cow bell is to drums as open string is to guitar. Never enough, need more!!

ps: I had to giggle since everyone else is sleeping, 4 am 🤭
I heard the main riff and was like "damn this is why I love metalcore" it sounded straight out of a bfmv track. Metalcore has a basic formula and that means you'll always get what you love.
Sounds like I'm listening to an As I Lay Dying/Killswitch Engage mash up
@Uncouth Rapscallion Trivium is literally the best 'modern' metal band out there. No one shreds like them.
@@COYM_1908 hahaaa....you gen X millenials. Even dudes like Matt Heafy (or whatever, if I got his name crossed w/the Bullet 4 Valentine dude, im sry) owe credit in the bushel to *folks like Bjorn Golette/Jesper Stromblad of IN FLAMES, then next weener all the gen X kids need to nibble before nodding to B4MV or Trivium or Killswitch is then to give a handy J (over the pants is ok) to the ATG/The Haunted members (all Swedish bands in* your guys' idealized metalcore). Basically the "best modern" metal band to me would be a tie between Darkest Hour, Black Dahlia (if we're still ripping off the Swedes as ur millenial "pioneers" of metal do) & even then, their not innovatingly UTTERLY unique like bands similar to Every Time I Die, Dillinger, Johnny Booth, or even I'd take All That Remains if we're mixing the Swede core w/legit hardcore (all you guys missed the early Jane Doe era, so you don't know, but taking Converge & Botch or Neurosis to genre crossovers? That's what was modern & shredding hardest)... no one's heard this ETID style of doing it b4 or since
@@jsocdelta82 bro, are you mad ?
@@jsocdelta82 Gen X and Millennials are two different generations. And kids? Gen X are like 41-55 years old and Millennials are like 25-40 give or take. Neither are kids. But yes you're right, this style of metalcore does owe a lot to the Gothenburg melodic death metal scene, but I don't think anyone is trying to hide or dispute that? I think most are aware where these influences came from.
I've never understood the hate metal core got its melodic, big, heavy, nice cleans, and fun what's not to enjoy?
@@kashrutharam5411 pop is burning 4 chord progressions metal core goes from highs to lows with melodic change ups its fun
@@kashrutharam5411 at least it's got some feel to it and isnt made by someone else and autotuned in the studio
Because people have a close-mind when it comes to music, the same thing that happens for Nu-Metal.
The end of the day listen to whatever you like, it’s metal. Now back to some Parkway Drive
It’s just fucking music. Like what you like and leave it alone, it’s art.
@@kashrutharam5411 A lot of great music has 4 chords in the chorus lol, that's not just pop
I need to learn how to play that chorus riff holy fuck. Incredible job guys.
SkylitHorizon the lead or the rhythm, either way, it's still awesome.
The breakdown was too fast. Needed more disonants. Solo was metalcore spot on.
8/10 - IGN
"It has a little something for everyone" lol
It makes you feel like Killswitch Engage
Just giving you them CORE essentials. Full song at 2:17! I hope you guys enjoy :) P.S New cover coming this week as well!
Ahhaha, yes.

Awesome bro!
Shady Cicada I love this like holy shit
Should teach us how to play some of these CORE songs you write
This was actually extremely informative for someone coming from a completely different genre. Thanks!
I dont even need the full song, its already sounds good.

Shady Cicada Yes plz
Shady Cicada Yes please!!
how to make deathcore... drop tune to nothing and chug chug chug chug
Stefan Grujic Drop d wtf... no... no.... NO!!!
Watching this made me love metalcore even more 😍
I was having trouble coming up with new riffs for my solo project and I came across this video and used the techniques shown and it really helped...I also used drop B instead of drop C because why not😂
the break down for me was the best part, the bends on the 1st fret are just pure sex
Well, that sounded epic.
0:22 Sounds like As I Lay Dying
Minnesota Guy to me it sounded like not the American average , AA
That's mostly the most used generic metalcore riff (still sounds great tho) a lot of metalcore bands used this riff. It all started with metal bands like Ceremonial Oath, At the Gates, and Death.
Sounded more like Ax7 or BVB but I'm not sure who ripoff who...
Northern Ninety7 i was thinking all that remains
Cuz it is
Even after years this song is song is still an amazing blueprint of my own guitar sessions. I still love it 👍
OOOOH! Can someone PLEASE make a vocal cover on this song? That'd be amazing, since the song itself was awesome!
Vocal version is coming eventually, actually!
@@Shadycicada Oh, wow, sweet! :D Looking forward to it! ^__^
literally watched the song and i know exactly how it would sound i just can't write lyrics (or do proper screamo).
Harold and Kumar- core

Kyle Anthony ever heard of as I lay dying? Trivium? Killswitch engage?
ouch, then
Tabs please !!!
Can't help it, after all these years these riffs and melodies still give me the chills.

desipenguin oh. somebody did mention it.
Arch Enemy?
Pretty sure a good three quarters of these riffs are As I Lay Dying riffs, with the last quarter made up of Killswitch. Haha.
AILD ftw 🤘🤘
I guess AILD and Killswitch own the fretboard lmao
I love how you incorporated all different types of metalcore. Nice man! Your channel is great.
Woahhhhh IM SUPER BLOWN AWAY!!! You made it really fun to watch and made an incredible song!!! Keep at it man you and your friend are both soooo good!

That Melody In Middle Of the Song Blowed Me Away...I Love Metalcore!🤘
I've been a fan of the genre for about fifteen yrs, it's my fav genre within metal...and my humble opinion is that this is absolutely class! That melody deserves special mention, it's sick.
I love it. Very reminiscent of "Holding It Down For The Underground" with maybe some early Killswitch Engage influences. Totally awesome
Very As I Lay Dying, imo. (^_^)
Basically Flying Productions i thought a Mix of kse and aild
Way better than most Metalcore songs these days
that was actually cool and kinda helpful at the same time.
you guys are good at writing metal core!
deserves more love. truly awesome work. liked and subbed!
Hey Shady Cicada, do you have any materials to recommend for my guitar playing growth. I have a grasp of scales, but you were playing them different then iv'e seen. Like palm muting the lower string and playing the notes of the minor scale in sync. You sound great and you have good skills, keep up the great work. Any tips or videos or books your recommend would be great.
This is actually a really good, genuinely helpful video!
I really liked the melody line in the chorus, sounds like it belongs in an anime. Really enjoyed this.
How does this not have a million views?? This is amazing!! I love the breakdown
its metalcore😅😅😅😅😅
Closer
Just give it time hoss lol
Bullet for my Valentine, before Gravity.
I’m getting Of Mice & Men and Killswitch Engage vibes from this! 🤘🏻
This is definitely my favorite of all the songs you've made so far.
that breakdown is periphery inspired for sure dude!
good work!
How to make a thrash metal song
Knightgalia gallops
Knightgalia palm muted open e , minor scales, 16th notes, obligatory Kirk Hammett wah pedal joke, gallops, lyrics about death, more palm muted notes, obligatory Lars Ulrich joke, kick ass harmonies, tapping solo, over 5 minute song.
Don't forget 0-0-0-0 Kerry King jokes and some sinister tritones
Casually Gaming Spider chords.
Don't forget Pentatonic specific solos doing circular 12s hitting notes at 200 bpms
Lol, love the xenoblade at the start
The spaced harmonic chords are what keep me coming back!!
3 years later and this is still my favorite of your songs 🤘
Been a minute, glad I found you again!
First verse: AttackAttack!
Second verse: Killswitch Engage
Rest of the song: Ofmiceandmen
That breakdown was too complex for metalcore...
Not really, maybe a bit more complex than usual Melodic Metalcore, but it's just the right breakdown for like a 90s Metalcore song.
You know, it reminded me of knives and pens by BVB in the simplicity of the drums.
Probably not for newer metalcore (e.g. While she sleeps)
It’s even got the same pedals/sounds as BVB lmao דוד מרדכי שלזינגר
@Cameron Eve Not if you listen to good metal core. Just listen to some August Burns Red, they kill it
you deconstructed metalcore perfectly and still sounded awesome at the end rock on!
These tutorials really help a lot, I now have found more inspiration in the music I plan on making
2:16 - The Song
10/10 would buy this song
those harmonies are sick. this song rules.
Nice work, finally someone who explain hot to crate a metalcore riff. Thanks!
0:23 - 0:32 i swear that is a bullet for my valentine song
strangestdreamm it sounded more like As I Lay Dying to me
I thought it was just me lol
I'm thinking the intro to "end of days"
It sounded very like Electric Eye's riff from Judas Priest
Fantastic stuff! It turned into a very nice song. This actually requires way more skill than your average metalcore musician is ready to demonstrate. What's more, it seems that the bands that "made it" never really went that far. If As I Lay Dying played stuff that required this much moving around the fret, they would never have become one of the cornerstones of metalcore. More like, garnered a certain following like Sacred Mother Tongue and faded into obscurity. They even proved the point when they started to play way more technical stuff and it just became a bit overdone. Your song is a lot better balanced I'd say.
THIS WAS SO EPIC I AM BLOWN AWAY
Wow very well done I was introducing my son to the basics of guitar and just stumbled along this and I loved it. Love you guys' style too!!
I felt like you just rename this "how to make a Killswitch song" lol
This sounds very KillSwitch Engage-y, anyone else think so too?
More as i lay dying-y
Holy shit! I don't play guitar myself but watching these How-To's is incredibly impressive and the song at the end always sounds amazing. Nice work!
These are actually genuinely helpful, thanks!
PLAM.
Nintendocore next?
Oooooh. That's an interesting one I forgot about. I'll look into it and see what I can do!
I ask because one of the genres I do is Nintendocore, under the name Proto Buster
The analysis of the parts together in action were surprisingly insightful. As an avid novice of noise making, it REALLY helps to see how the parts in a song line up, visually. I has musics dyslexia, so I can’t read them musics, but I...don’t want to discuss it.
Just stopped by to say I love the humor. Keep it up guys.
Am I the only one who thinks this song would totally go well with Japanese lyrics and be made into an OST for an anime?

The song is am absolute masterpiece! Truly loved it, and the tutorial came in handy as well:)
That was awesome! Nice work!
1:34 JOIN BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE!!!. that sounded exactly like something they would write!
it is actually...
Deni Anusic what song?
I'm hoping there will be tabs
Or at least a full song release
Dang, 5 years later and I don’t need tabs anymore lol
thats a cool one.. love it.. i wanna pick my guitar and gig right away
Finally someone with great sense of humour and distance shows something interesting!!! Good job guys!!! Love it!!! Riffs are awesome to!!!
lmfao.. literally just took riffs from like every mainstream metalcore band there is and put them into 1 song.. this song should be called bullet for my shady..
but overall good job.. awesome song and tbh its kind of hard to write a metalcore song and not sound like every metalcore band in existence...
Great video. But it's more like how to write like Killswitch Engage than whole metalcore
Ivan Perica its melodic metalcore
Brilliant video! I tend to do these myself but the video was very nice and I like the song at the end :)
I've learnt soooo much from this video. So as an appreciation I've bought your song!
