I loved the action sequences! I have an outdoor channel and filming the action scenes are the most challenging part. Great tips on telling a story, I learned quite a bit.

Matti, thank you very much for breaking it down so well! You're absolutely right, people talk about telling a story, it usually feels so "ethereal" and as if I can't grasp it.. but you summarized it SO WELL These are my personal notes from this video:
- Have 1 point / topic / journey
- Think ahead and film it in a beginning/middle/end structure
- Make sure you have a clear wrap/resolution
- Stay present throughoug, and avoid just documenting...

I've been hearing alot about story from some of my favorite UA-cam rs like you and Peter. At first I don't understand what story actually meant but over time it's starting to make more sense. Story is important and we all have a story to tell. Great video Matti

I often don't have it. So I have to create something right in the moment, which can be pretty fuckin hard sometimes.. At least for me.

I've been looking for something like this for a while! Thank you :) I'm loving the content you keep on putting out, including the steadycam video. I guess the part I struggle with while vlogging is sometimes you don't know how the day will go. So while you can wrap it all up at the end, getting the video started / intro is hard. Just gotta keep practicing!
Loved this! Storytelling is so important. I learnt that lesson deeply recently. I sent an earlier version of my "my 2017" cinematic video to a friend, and I'd busted my butt to get it really cool looking, so I was hoping for the thumbs up. But instead he said, "yeah... It looks cool, but it's just a series of pretty shots. It doesn't tell me anything." and after I brushed my ego off the floor I decided to listen. And so I made it again. And he was SO right! Now there's a story. "My 2017" is really all about my journey of leaving my job to be a full time photographer, and sharing all the adventures I've had. Now the video means something. I'm really proud of it. Merry Christmas!!

Question for you, (or anyone on this channel that wants to answer this question) how do you keep a backlog of stories to do on your vlog? For example, how far in advance do you plan your daily vlogs? 1 at a time? Plan a full weeks worth?

I like that you hit on what many do with their vlogs where they simply describe what their doing. I've been unsubbing from channels that do this and you put it into words as to why I've done this.
