    I got to say, you and Peter's secret to vloging is the openness, friendliness and the (yes, I will say it) love (for whatever it is) you put through that lens. I really like your obvious quality in filming and photography, but it's the love I connect with. 👏 And I kind of feel jealous of that at the same time. 😜 I wish I had this kind of passion for something. Well, that was my words of the day! Great stuff.

    I get awkward filming around people period, talking to a camera sounds downright mortifying! Maybe someday though...
    These Sweden vlogs are such a treat btw, thanks for brightening my day :)

      You won't get better until you start mate. I started out doing guide tracks on shows I was cutting..MORTIFIED. Now I don't care anymore, it's temp and makes the job easier than having to find someone to record for me. Own it now...you'll get there! Just do it. It adds such a nice element to your films!

    Great stuff! It took me almost three years of recording and posting raw unedited footage of myself in various situations and modes to get over severe anxiety...I am finally over my performance anxiety, which has also allowed me to start singing in front of several local bands. This is my year to bloom on UA-cam! I have learned a lot watching your channel. Thank you!

  • @stastro1785
    @stastro1785 6 років тому +3

    "Don't worry about what other people think"....not easy considering the entire point of vlogging is sharing with others and getting them to like the content you post. I struggle with that a lot. It took me a really, really long time to get over people seeing me on camera. One day, I just dove in head first into streaming on Twitch with a webcam on my iMac...I did that for about 6 months until I switched to a DSLR and viewers saw me in "full HD". It has definitely helped how I view myself and helped me boost my comfort level when in front of the camera.

    I really need to work on all the tips you and Peter give... I’m trying to vlog in front of my Dad at our machine shop.. and I feel awkward.. embarrassed in front of my own Dad.. he knows what I’m up to, he wants me to vlog about the shop and what we do.. but I still struggle to talk at the camera with confidence

      I feel that sometimes we feel more embarrassed around people who we really know, because we care more about what they think about us than random strangers .. I would suggest just doing it alot around strangers because who cares what they think of us . It will help you feel more comfortable around your dad . I promise

    Great adventures, great tips. I think I’ll be taking myself off to somewhere quiet to get used to it. I always feel weird when I’ve tried it and therefore the footage is awful because I’m self conscious vlogging. My plans have to have me comfortable with it so I’ve just got to get it done. Also, apart from London, the UK feels like it’s still wired for folks to come across a vlogger. Like it’s still brand new. Which makes me feel even more self conscious 🙄 When I’m not comfortable I don’t talk at a usable volume and, once again, come across lacking in confidence. It’s a strange thing and as Peter says, unnatural. Talking to the camera like it’s a person will definitely help I think.
    Thanks for bringing us along on your adventures and sharing really useful tips.
    Safe trip
    Cheers
    JT

    Great tips Matti and Peter! Would love to hear your thoughts in a video or even just a reply about vlogging with the 1dx mk ii. I would like to begin vlogging with this camera but i'm wondering how your settings are: Are you vlogging in Manual mode with AF on your lens on to track your focus, or are you vlogging in Auto mode completely. I realized that Manual mode will require more changing and adjusting, which can be inconvenient in a run-n-gun capture the moment before it's gone type of situation. Would LOVE to hear your thoughts! Thanks :)

    Some great tips here. I have trouble speaking to people normally anyway so talking to myself in public is just ridiculously hard! I started out doing most talking stuff in my house or in a secluded spot when outside. I am kind of using the whole thing as an exercise to increase my confidence. Filming in a crowded space doesn't bother me much at all so that part I just got for. Thanks for the video!
