I have had this at 3 different Haitian restaurants and the only two places made the rice like this with a wonderful and fried pork called griot. Amazing food! I have ordered this dish over 100 times in just 4yrs.
Awesome sistah! I love how you listed all the ingredients and measures. Coming from Louisiana (Creoles) I welcome this new addition of foods. I’m 60 and have grown weary of the “traditional” food here. Thank you....merci beaucoup!
With your guidance Young Lady I made a great pot of djon djon for Thanksgiving. I followed your recipe for the last two years of holidays. Thank you. You're quite a chef. A real master.
I used your recipe today adding shrimp, cashews, pigeons peas & Jasmine brown rice. I also used peanut oil. I adapted the cashews from the book "Taste of Haiti" years ago. Healthy version but still authentic Haitian flavors...bonne appetite. Next time I'll make this dish with brown basmati rice. Thanks for sharing Haitian cuisine in English.
Your grandma tought you very well. I was born and raise in Haiti. Granmoun ansyen tan yo konn fè manje wi. My mom and my dad tought me how to cook. You did a great job👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi! I tried djon djon for the first time this past weekend. My boyfriend is Haitian and bought some for me to try and it was delicious. Now I’m hooked lol.

Tip? No my dear, that's the main ingredient. Its sun dried mushroom blacken. All the flavoring is from the mushroom. Best kept secret....once tasted, you'll be hooked!
Hi Fendy! I just discovered you today, and I LOVE your videos. I would like to suggest that you make a video on Épis, Pikliz, and Vinèg , mainly for the non Haitians. Also, I would love to see a videos on how to make Lalo , Tchaka as well as Tomtom😊😊🇭🇹🇭🇹. I don't see many Haitians on UA-cam post videos on how to make those particular Haitian dishes. Continue to chef it up!!!🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😏😏🔥🔥🔥

Hi Fendy, I am not Haitian but my husband is and this seems close to how my mother in law makes hers. I am going to try this today, thanks so much! Also, would you be able to do a Haitian Legume recipe?
Thank you for this recipe Fendy! 😍 I’m trying it now as I’m typing! I’m trying to put together a traditional Haitian meal for my mom’s graduation party next week! She’s going to be soooo impressed! (That is if I get all the recipes right!😂). Hey, do you know how to make Akasan WITHOUT milk?🙏🙏🙏 I’m been dying to have some! EVERY Haitian restaurant I go to does it with milk😒. Not the way the Machan Akasan Lady near my house in Haiti used to make it 😞. Please share that recipe if you have it!!!!🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for sharing. This recipe looks so delish :) especially with the added shrimp :) I was wondering about where to find the Haitian spices that you use. I'm sure I would love the flavor. I don't know where to find those mushrooms either but I would like to try some of your recipes.
Hey ! I was always taught to save my mushrooms after soaking them.. by just letting them dry in the sieve and freezing them for next time. I like how you blended the mushrooms and squeezed every bit of the juice out ! Do you save the mushrooms front there or do you throw them away. Please let me know! THX! Also what’s in your Haitian spice ? Do you have a recipe for that ?

WHAT’S THE NAME OF THE PARBOILED YELLOW RICE THAT YOU USED? I LOVE HOW BLACK THE RICE LOOKS 😊 BUT I WOULD DEF ADD COCONUT MILK OR CREAM.
I want to know the rice too
@@lourdeblanc3355 DID YOU FIND OUT BC I STILL DON’T KNOW.....🤷🏾♀️
It’s basmiti rice doesn’t necessarily have to be yellow one
Just need to be the long grain
Please come back and make an epis vid
Great idea with the blender! I wouldn’t fry GREEN peas because it is a very delicate vegetable. Thanks for sharing!
It’s not fried it’s sautéed. In Haitian culture the peas have taste and not bland hence why we sauté with spices.
Love your videos but I think you should use a wooden ladle ...much love!
How do you make the haitain spice, the green spice you have here?
Please make me some and deliver to ATL
Hey Fendy! Can you make a tutorial on how to make pumpkin soup please?
