    Hi Annette. Question: What Haitian recipes would I use Star Anise in. Also I know you no longer use Maggie but do you know where online I can get the Black Maggie?

      I use star anise in Labouyi, tablet, Te Jenjanm, konfiti, liqueur ect. I will be selling the djon Djon cube and other Haitian products on my website soon. Hopefully next week, it will be ready!

    its so hard to find djon djon maggi in toronto, i been searching far and wide. amazon, ebay, west indian grocery stores everywhere. what can I use to still get the flavor and the colour if i cant find the maggi, cause this rice is life :(.

    If you want shrimp in it at what point would you add it?

      I would add the shrimp toward the end, right before I cover the pot. Shrimp don’t take long to cook. You definitely do not want the shrimp to be mushy!

      @@tahileebrown5161 .. You doing something wrong but keep trying until you get it. Next time Before adding the rice in, make sure your liquid is dark enough. Add 21/2 or 3 cubes if you need to, add or take away ingredients until you get it. That’s the art of cooking!

      It is a non msg chicken base but you can use Maggie or any chicken seasoning.

I also mentioned, I don’t use the cubes because of the MSG but I was making the video for those who were not able to find the fresh Djon Djon! Watch and listen carefully before you comment!       She didn't eat from the fork. She put it on the fork and then put it into her hand to taste it. She said that she is cooking it for a friend and just tasting it for the sake of that and for the video which is why she only ate a very small bite. It's spelled 'foRk' by the way. Just in case you missed that too.
