Perhaps, instead of Discovery, the new Star Trek show should've been a Voyager spin-off focusing on Voyager's EMH ditching medicine and becoming a professional opera singer following Voyager's return home.
Space, the final frontier. These are performances of EMH Mark I. His continuing mission; to perform on strange new worlds, to seek out new opera theaters and new audiences. To *baldly* (c wut I did thar? :-p) sing where no hologram has sung before! :-D

There is that episode where the emergency backup gets restarted like 700 years later on some random planet and it says that copy of the doctor left to see what happened to voyager. That would be a really cool series.

After this though, canonically, the doctor focuses on his holographic novels. Singing was more a pastime for him especially by the end of the episode when that race rejects his singing for mathematically/fractal inspired sounds.

I like how at the end, some of them are "having trouble" clapping. IIRC, they don't have a custom for showing appreciation like that, so they're still new to it!
Also, just saw Robert Picardo in _Dickinson_ , so it's neat to see him in his EMH role again! 8)

@@zxKAOS1 Yeah, we'll get at least Season 2 of it, after that I have no clue. Paramount and Netflix would need to get agreement about future seasons. The reason we're getting at least S2 is because it was almost done by the time Paramount pulled the plug, so I guess they want to recoup at least some of their investment.

It's not supposed to be joyful, so this might be the only one. They're asking god to make them be unite in life and heaven, after they have fought and died. So it's not a very joyful moment in the opera.

    • @ThatWeirdo04

It's actually not. Robert Picardo did a lot of singing on the show, but this piece and Rondine al Nido (the Doctor's final performance in this episode) were dubbed by the tenor Agostino Castagnola. Picardo is a trained singer, but he's a baritone, and those two pieces were out of his vocal range.
