“It’s a shame you were busy that day”
*was busy literally dying*
and she was the one who was killing him 🤣🤣
RIP in F
Does that mean the Tardis is like her godmother?
@@Silverwind87 yea pretty much, to sum it up, a previous version of river met her husband, she travelled with him and her parents to go and kill Hitler by using her god mother, she was then shot by Hitler and thus river song was born. After recently being born she then poisoned her husband threatened her parents, forced a whole restaurant to strip, went into her godmother to learn how to fly her. Then gave up the rest of her lives to save the husband she just met and proceeded to poison not even half an hour ago.

"I will crush every last remnant of you from this universe"
River: "HOW dare you! I'm your wife!"
Him: "You plan to murder me"
Her: "Don't change the subject"
It's more funny, when you realize, that she is probably serious! I mean, she did tried murder her husband (multiple times and got pretty close) and he never was rude to her. And this one just heard plan........ Of course she thinks he's overacting 😂.!

“OH I HATE YOU SOMETIMES”
“I KNOW”
The last time the river says she hates the doctor he responds with I know, and every other time he said “no you don’t”, it’s one of those character arcs that you notice more and more about it the more you watch it
And the last time the Doctor hears her say those words he says no you don’t
I think it's her way her way of saying "I love you" when she's mad at him over something. She means to say those words but says "I hate you" instead. Then The Doctor says "No you don't" or "I know" because he knows what she really meant to say.
@@gracelowndes.official he only said "I know" once, in the Library.
Well, yeah, it's supposed to be like that. It's done purposefully. And the "I know" only happened in the library, before he even knew who she was.
@@MaryAnnNytowl Exactly, because she then dies for him, so every time after, when she says "I hate you," he says "No you don't" cuz he knows she cares enough to die for him.
for the first episodes with river in them literally being the first alex acted in, she did amazing at acting like she had already experienced everything to come
fun fact: Alex thought the diary was cleverly written with made-up stories to help her acting, but it was actually Moffat writing all the episodes she was going to be in later. She knew about River Song's run on the show before it even happened, and she had no idea.

Gotta love the fact that she literally makes the Dalek say a word apparently not even in their programmed vocabulary -- Mercy isn't a word they're supposed to be able to say. @@lewisfredette1319 I think that might have been its Kaled origins emerging in its final moments.
" hush Mommy and Daddy are busy" nothing like interrupting a time lord and his wife during an argument.. that line alone was perfection., the writers absolutely nailed it when they were asked to create this role, and the casting was perfect.

Oh certainly. And more!
The scene where she smacks Eleven in the diner had to be redone so many times that his makeup had to be redone to cover the red spot!
Yep! You can see the extra makeup in the shot of his left side profile before the slap. And fun fact, after the slap, every editing cut is angled just right to hide the spot where River's hand would have landed - because she would've ruined his makeup and revealed the red spot on camera again.
Edit: You can also see the edge of the red spot as Matt turns with the momentum just a tad too far while making his face, and shows a bit of left cheek to camera. @5:31

FACT
Essentially
Biggest facts
7:44 I love that when River calls in and tells them to turn off the alarm it actually does. I can only imagine the exasperated officer on the other side
I absolutely adore the way that Alex Kingston acts River at different points in her personal timeline. From wildly-impulsive-yet-uncertain post-regen Melody to in-over-her-head Wedding Apocalypse River to the variously hypercompetent femme-fatale-to-married-woman iterations on Doctor Song to classy confident-yet-jaded Professor Song... They're all such visibly different points in her arc and to have to play that completely out of order must have taken a heck of a lot of skill and poise.
Not only that, but the dynamic between her and the Doctor is *so* complex over time as the information each has over the other varies massively from meeting to meeting, never quite matching card to card on an even playing field, but making it work anyway. The closest they ever came was Darillium, both of them happily married at the most mutually mature and equal their relationship ever was... Even then, the informational imbalance between them was a major theme of the episode, with River acting like she had all the cards as per usual for her later life, not realising that The Doctor was A: there, B: older than she'd ever met him and C: had said his final goodbyes twice already, knowing every single detail of their future together. Heartbreaking, and, as per usual, love helped it work.
River is delightfully convoluted, fascinatingly clever and, honestly, possibly the best example of Timey-Wimey character development ever. I can't think of a single example that comes close.
I can understand why River's story was too much for some people.
I think she was brilliant.
Reading what you said made me have a think: If Alex wants to continue on the show, and it does get confirmed (whenever that'll happen), It's pretty much going to be the time between Angels take Manhattan and Darillium. Meaning that when she met/will meet Capaldi's Doctor, she would've known about all of their new faces, and kept up his Number One rule.
I’m wondering if there’s anything Amy regrets more than that seductive “oh doctor, you soniced her.” Comment ABOUT HER OWN DAUGHTER
Going after the Doctor on the eve of her wedding maybe? Once she realized her relationship to him?
Snogging her future son in law perhaps????
“I was on my way to this gay gypsy bar mitzvah for the disabled…”
🤣🤣🤣 First time I realized she just listed all the people the Third Reich saw as inferior, imperfect, or undesirable. That is amazing writing!

Or because she sensed someone was behind her and knew whoever it was must be hostile because she knew where the Doctor, Rory and Amy were.
@@Tantalus010 Any information about the Silence is forgotten once you no longer experience it. You may know you felt something, but not what or how. You can’t recall their sound, smell, visage, or the sensations of their movement causing airflow. River could’ve still been feeling or hearing something to help aim, but I almost doubt it.
@@GuiSmith that's the thing though. There's a difference between hearing a sound and knowing what it is, and just hearing something that made sound. She didn't need to know what a Silence sounded like. Just that there was *a* sound behind her. Given that she knew where Amy, Rory, and the Doctor were, she knew the sound behind her wasn't them and had to be hostile. Add to that the fact that she saw Rory's expression, it just confirmed for her the approaching entity had to be killed. That's how bada** she is.

He turned his title character into a trophy husband, iconic.
Same as the casting for Missy. It was absolutely perfect.
Ive never understood the moffat hate: for all the meh moments were four times more awesome! Moments consistently.
River Song is probably one of the best characters ever created. Alex Kingston plays her brilliantly. River/Alex Kingston enhances every episode she is in. The repartee between her and the Doctor is witty and sharply delivered. I often address my daughters as "Sweetie."
The part with the Dalek is epic, especially when you know River's entire timeline. The reason the Dalek is begging for mercy is because River, according to the records, did what no Dalek ever could.
