    I have a pair of Viking bags. Over time the lids became loose with the vibrations of my Harley. I had to fabricate a new turn signal bracket because I had one like yours and it broke during a ride. When I got home my turn signals were hanging by its wires. I had to buy new housings and covers. If you turn the brackets the other direction it might look better.

    Good job with the bags. My main concern with getting these bags is actually drilling the holes in them. I’ve learned time and time again the first time you drill a hole you can make a mistake and have to redrill is create more holes. Good thing you solved it and I can now not make that same mistake and measure it to my content.

      Gees that was a lot of work just to mount bags. Taking the hole back of the bike apart, remove fender, changing light location, having to do wiring, having issues with hole locations. Not sure I like that big gap between the bags and fender. I get some different hardware and reduce that. Just my observation.

      Thanks man, I'm glad it helped. I've seen pictures of Viking Bags with custom paint online, so it shouldn't be a problem. If it was me, I'd probably just give Viking a call and ask, just to be safe. They might have some recommendations for painting them? I really like the gunship grey color, that'll look sick with the bags.

    I honestly thought about going with the Viking bags. But imo, I ended up going with the XMT Vivid Gloss Black hard bags and I have to say, the quality is about the same for 1/3 the price. They’re also bigger. I do like the Viking bags though.

      I don't even think those bags were on my radar, at the time. I just checked them out on Amazon. They look a little slim, for how much crap I wanted to stuff in my bags, but I probably would've considered them for sure -- especially for a more streamlined look at the back of the bike.

      Thanks for watching J M. Honestly, I think I've decided that I don't like the single light relocation bracket that Viking sent me. I'm probably going to go with the MoonsMC low profile taillight with integrated signal lights in the near future. It's not that expensive and they have an optional plug and play harness that is pretty inexpensive as well. Might be a good option for you as well. I'm a brand new rider on a Honda VTX 1300 S (2003) and I actually just bought some Viking Bags myself. I didn't realize there would be any electrical work involved in this and I'm honestly I little uncertain about the installation once they arrive.
    Would you do a video explaining everything about electrical work on a bike? I know its not overly simple, but I'm not mechanically inclined enough to understand it without a full visual.

      Hey cuff, I've never had a Honda cruiser, so I'm not familiar with that specific bike's electrical work. But, I did put out a video on the Low Rider S where I installed front and rear LED lights. It might give you some insight as to what you're up against. No, mine were torx on both the outside and inside. The two that ran on the inside were the same size as the four that ran on the outside. • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Рік тому

      Off the top of my head, I believe it was just some 18 gauge wire that I had kicking around the garage, which just happened to be the same color. As long as the wire is the same gauge you should be good. You could also just check RevZilla.com or another motorcycle website for wire extensions kits, if needed.

    Are you still able to lane split with those bags and fairings

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  2 роки тому +1

      It's not legal to lane split in Idaho, but I used to live in California so I understand where you are coming from. I'm still running the stock bars with the stock break levers and they run approximately 35 inches (tip-to-tip). Both the fairing and the bags are under 35 inches wide, so if you're comfortable lane splitting with the stock bars you should be alright, depending on the circumstances. Hope this helps.

      @@17Exclusive17 One option you could take is to get the quick disconnect system that Viking sales. That way if you are uncomfortable splitting lanes with the bags on, you can simply take them off when you don't need them.

      For sure, I added the black spacers closest to the bike. The chrome spacers are the ones that come with the bags. Just make sure everything is going to clear while your suspension is going up and down, so you don't bottom the bag out on a bolt, swing arm, etc. At this point, I'm probably going to switch to a smaller spacer because I'm comfortable that I have the room.

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  2 роки тому

      If you like the look of your bags sitting low from the side, it’s “just how it is.” At this point, I’ve tried several different spacing options using a variety of spacers, and I’m always scared they will bottom out, so I prefer to play it safe. But, if you are willing to drill your holes so the bags sit higher, you would be able to tuck them in tighter. I haven’t got to that point yet. I will say the way they are now makes it super easy to use a bungee net.
