My first bike was an early 1979 HD Low Rider, 74 cubic inch, silver with black trim, drag bars. Since that time I've owned 3 more HD's, each time moving to larger touring bikes. I'm 67 years old now and am tired wrestling with tour bikes. You don't pull a tour bike out of the garage just to make a short run to Starbucks as it is too much trouble. Your current Low Rider, silver with Street Slammer bars, has really fueled my desire to return to simpler times that I so enjoyed with cruisers. Thanks for the videos...and the inspiration.
That's the reason I went with the Deluxe. Simple, clean and a joy to ride on short trips or long.
I did the same thing, I got tired of wrestling a 900lb bike just to ride around town so I got a 2006 superglide and loving it, just need some Viking bags now
I think those bags look the best and the ones for the twin shock dynas they make a bag with shock indentation so the bags hug tight to the frame which solid me
Looks good, nice install job.
Thank you for showing off our saddlebags.
Great video. I think I would drill holes in a thin steel plate (powder coated black) matching the 4 holes you made on the bags and mount it on the inside of the bags for some extra strength.
Would definitely give it more support and clamping force, not relying on just the plastic of the bags to hold.
I've had the shock cutout version of these bags on my Dyna Lowrider. I concur with the comments. They offer great capacity, they are strong, well made and they look good. Fitting took a while because I was determined to get the position right. Measure twice (or in my case about 10 times) and drill once. On the Dyna, wobbling of the lids with engine vibration wore through the rubber seal after only 9000 km. The plan is to eliminate the shaking with the counterbalanced 2020 Lowrider S and fit new Viking Lamellar Hard Bags! I prefer the way these bags open to the Sport Glide bags and they are way better priced. While tempted to go for one of the larger Viking Hard bags, the size of the Lamellar bags suited me just fine on the Dyna, so why change? Probably leather wrap on the new ones, because it took me no time at all to damage the finish on the painted bags.

Sweet bags. The only thing I would do to make it more secure is fabricate a piece of metal bar across to the top two screws and another piece for the bottom screws instead of the washers. This will help stiffen the bags. Hopefully this is helpful.
These are wonderful bags. I had recently purchased the new Viking Overlord bags for my 2020 FXLR, however there are velcro and unpreferred when opening. I am moving to these in place of as these have clean lines and very nice opening size. I appreciate the video. Happy Riding and Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
I put the bolts in from the inside of the fender and nuts inside the bag to eliminate tire rub
Good tip, Thanks!
Get some fender washers to put on the inside of the bag, if already done disregard. Will take wobble out. Have a good day. Will be putting these on my 2022 Street Bob 114.
Elite touring innovations makes a quick release detach kit
Looks awesome
Aw how cute, his and hers lunch pails.
I got the 19 lowrider I done the turn signal relocation kit from Harley Davidson myself took about an hour, now I bought some Viking saddle bags, the instructors are crude, they are nice bags, but I just can’t seem to mount mine with the Harley-Davidson quick detachment sissy bar! I wanted throw over but it don’t look like I can get it to work!
Yeah, those instructions aren't good. The bolts that come with the bags might not work for your particular install. You might need to customize the mounting hardware to get a good fit.
KSSTUDIOS yeah I know they still laying in my shop! I been using a backpack!
Yeah just hit the hardware store, see about some different links, keep the receipt
2020 Low Rider S here, excellent video bro. Looking forward to getting a set for my bike. Glad to hear my Holdfast Sissybar quick detach will still work.
Just subbed! Nice bike, nice bags, nice voice, nice demo, nice music....nice video!
Thanks and welcome to the channel!
Great video, thanks for posting. This will help me with my install a great deal.
Ride safe.
Glad it helped! I'm really happy with them after using them for a while now.👍
@@KSSTUDIOS it definitely did help. I got mine installed and I love them. Thanks again. 👍
@@KSSTUDIOS What year is your Low Rider and how many miles do you currently have on it? It is BEAUTIFUL! I love it.
nice bags a bit smaller than the hd bags .they look great on the bike .
I have them as well. Good bags but the fibreglass splinters a bit between the layers of vinyl from drilling.
I'm definitely wearing gloves next time 😬
Very good video. Thank you . iv seen 10 others. This is the most helpful . I got the same bags for my Honda Vtx 1800
Glad to hear that the video helped! Thanks for the comment.
If they were predrilled, I would get them. They look great.
Yeah that just put me off buying these 575 after shipping and I have to drill holes myself hoping I get it right? No thanks
I hope they work out better for you than they did for my 2014 Dyna Low Rider. I had to purchase wider spacers then came with the bags and they were still hit by the axle nut. Even after I got that resolved, the hinges and tiny screws started to come loose off the bags. Viking was the worst company I've ever dealt with. In the end, garbage bags and garbage company. It was a happy day when I took them off my bike and threw them in the trash!
Your bike is beautiful otherwise, here's wishing you lots of happy miles.
Sorry to hear about your experience with your bags. I didn't have any issues with mine but ended up removing them after a minor crash damaged one of them.
These are the exact bags i want to get for my low rider s or my indian scout. Just trying to see how they fit and look with each bike. Love your video
Thanks for the comment and good luck on the install!
I would really like to see these come pre drilled.
Good looking, well set up bike.
Nice... I was looking at a set of these for my vulcan 750
Yep just got me a pair thanks
The bags came out really nice bike looks really good good luck
Thanks 👍 I think I left too much room for the exhaust though. I would lower them about two inches if I did it again.
All you needed to do was cover the entire backs of the bags with painters tape. Make your marks and measure them to the nearest whole amount, if you set your bike up level then you can cut up som 2x4'and get it sitting exact. Mark n drill your holes and then transfer those marks to the other bag.
Thanks for the suggestion. There are many ways to go about getting them drilled out, but I wish Viking had a template or something with some straight lines on it.
nice seat,is it stock
Why you didn’t put a spacer in the inside mines canned with a circle big spacer to give it more security
Very good information and excellent relax music.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet bike- good choice
I have the same bike, signal relocation kit and Viking bags. I also have the HD quick connect kit but didn't mount them thinking the bags mounted against the bike is more
stable then mounted against the small round disconnect posts.
can u advise the part # for the signal relocation kit?. Thx
Great video and very informative. Excellent work dude 👍🏼
Much appreciated!
looks really good
Hi, nice video. On your link I see an extra large lamellar but in your video you mention large not extra large. Can you please clarify? Thanks
Viking may have added new products to that page linked since the video was made. The ones I installed are the large model, SKU 51997.
I wish someone would design good nylon bags. Quality.
Nice seat
When u do rear signal relocation did u have to extend cable and drill a holes
That looks great. Wonder why they make you drill into the bag.
I think they do that so the same part can be used on many different bikes. It would be nice if they came pre-drilled and just had different size mounting brackets depending on the bike.
Did you replace your turn signal wire too?
Has your bags ever bottom out and hit the axle nuts? if not. How high above the nut are they mounted? thanks!
I'm not able to measure as I no longer have this bike but I put spacers in so that the bags would clear the swingarm and axle. I never bottomed out with these bags installed. Hope this helps.
Do have video of light Relocation
They look great!
How simple was the signal relocation kit?
With the bags installed can you still add a sissy bar or backrest for a third bag?
Yes, these bags still allow the Harley docking system bolts to be installed and probably many other sissy bar mounting options.
Hi how high above the axle nut is the bottom of the bag. Thanks!
Curious if the bags will work with a cobra detachable backrest. Nice relaxing videos you put out. Keep up the good work.
If the backrest attaches to the same bolt locations there's a good chance it would fit with longer bolts. The Harley Hold-Fast docking system will work with this kit. I left mine off this time purely for looks.
Nice video I just ordered my this will help me thank you
If I did this again I would lower them about 1-1/2 to 2 inches. I was afraid to get too close to the exhaust, but ended up leaving too large of a gap. Once you drill the holes out it's tough to adjust the position. Good luck with the install 👍
I like it👍
How many litres do they hold thanks.
NIce!! makes the bike look even more nostalgic, the only down side is u have to use a rachet to take them off when have to detail the bike, wish they'd make some with detachable levers. And don't worry about the flex thats normal the inners are plastic so naturally they're gonna flex. Now put a memphis shades warrior faring on the front and it'll look even more tits!! By the way where did u get that neck warmer? Great looking bike!! thanks for sharing.
Why one bag looks bigger then the other
Those look nice
Will it hold a 24 pack of beer or whatever?
They look great and probably half the cost of Harley bags
I got mine for $503 delivered
perfect..
can you advise the part # for that signal relocation kit?-on the HD website all the kits relocate the signal light to the license plate frame. Thx
Hi, I have the part number listed in the description but the link no longer exists on the Harley website. I'm not sure if they carry this part any longer.
@@KSSTUDIOS thanks for getting back to me brother. I re- watched the video( after I msg’d u LOL)…..you did mention the part #- I checked and yes. Harley no longer carries it. ….if anybody else asks u: JP cycles has the same( functioning) part/ extends the signal back on the strut mount for the Dynas. JP Part #840-387 / Mfr. part # 20200350“ : Saddleman Chrome Turn Signal Relocation kit”
Good viddy
Thanks for watching!
I currently have a 2008 dyna low rider. It came with detachable bags and sissy bar. I find there is way to much rattling . How are these bags for rattling and storage capacity. And can you still install sissy bar
I haven't noticed any rattling with these bags so far. I didn't install the quick detach kit that Viking Bags offers, so they're currently hard-mounted which probably helps with the stability. The capacity is good, but I've already stuffed them full on a few trips to the grocery store. I could definitely still do a sissy bar with these on since they use the same screw holes on the fender that many of the sissy bars for this model mount with. I would just have to swap the mounting screws for slightly longer ones.
Great video. I have a softail lowrider 2018 I think that I am going to get a viking bags for my Harley. Greetings from Mexico
These are nice bags for the price!
Cool
But it looks good on your bike
Hi just to ask you if you can told me where do you get the turn signal relocation kit, I was checking at harley davidson website but they have a package with the license plate relocation to, I only need the extender please let me know and bee safe out there, thanks
Link updated in description. Harley site changed and original link broke.
@@KSSTUDIOS whats in that link isnt whats on your bike?
@@randystephenson291 It is Part Number 67800802. The picture on their site is a different bike but that is the kit that was used on my Low Rider.
what bars are those? im digging them
Harley Street Slammer bars
Sharp-looking Low Rider! What handlebars are those? I bet they feel better when turning than the stock ones.
The bars are Harley Street Slammers.
I had this bag. It’s so overrated and is too flimsy. It feels cheap, saddlemen has better quality. Sorry just my experience.
AND you don't have to drill your own hole...so there's that.
Can you still have a passenger?
Yes, a passenger can still fit with good access to the foot pegs. The top of the bags might touch a little bit if they are mounted as high as mine. I probably could have gone two inches lower to be honest.
How did you bubble level them
I have a small level that I placed on the VikingBags logo (hinge) on the side of the saddlebag. That logo seemed like a good reference point to make sure the bag was straight.
Bags do look good on it. Though how come you didnt get a sportglide or heritage?
Need a kuryakyn lay down license plate holder
👍
Wouldn’t it be easier to just buy a heritage ?
Jerry BISBO 🤣🤣🤣olds mans bike
Only if you like studded everything...
Not exactly the look I'm going for but they do seem to have the options I like for longer rides 😀
Super low 883 or 1200
Show the right side!!!
Absolutely will not buy them with their name on them like a billboard.
You bought a motorcycle with a name on it ???
Correct. All motorcycles come with their name on them. All saddlebags do not. This company has made a point of plastering a gaudy looking name on them. Looks horrible. If they want me to advertise they should send me a monthly check.
Viking is a crappy company that doesn’t honor their warranty. Before you buy. Do yourself a favor and check out the better business bureau. ...
