    THANK YOU! I just bought a 2010 Town&Country, got a good deal on it because of the clicking noise. Took me 4 hours to find this video, a half hour to find the broken actuator in my car, another half hour to get a new one from the store and replace it. This video is, as I'm sure you're aware by now, one of the best repair videos I've seen. By any chance, would you happen to know what might cause the ticking in the actuator assembly itself? It looks like the defective one wanted to keep pushing past where it should've stopped.

    Hey people. I was reading other comments from other videos. IF your vehicle is blowing hot one side and cold on the other like mine was you either have to replace the Center Actuator, or the one on the Driver's side. I replaced the one in the center, it wasn't easy but I did it (this one controls the heat, not the one close to the passenger's side ). You'll need a small ratchet and 8mm socket, or you might need a Stubby Phillips/Flat screwdriver depending on what type the screw is. There is little room to get in, but it can be done. It took around an HOUR to get it out. Lots of body twisting. Use a Light too. I got my part from a Wreckers so I had to take it out, that took about an hour, because I didn't have the right tools. I used a Channel Lock to loosen the screws. There are 3 screws, but I couldn't get the back one so I broke off the last Screw holding it down. But I did replace the center one and now I have heat on both sides. The broken one I took out, shook it, and could hear it was crapped out. **** Sorry for the long posting, but if you're going to replace your actuator I would suggest order one online, or go a auto parts to buy a new one. Hopefully my 2 screws will hold. I was quoted $800 to get this done. AND don't forget to Plug it back in.

I just need to find a good mechanic to replace the actuators. I have a slight clicking noise when the heat turns on and/or when I switch the control positions. Someone told me to also make sure my antifreeze isn’t low. I have heat coming out of the passenger side, but barely the driver side and the heat is not hot enough.

      Yea u definately wanna start by making sure ur coolant level is up to the mark, and if that doesnt help, u wanna make sure if u do take it to a mechanic that they verify its not a clogged heater core beforehand, they can feel if the inlet and outlet lines of the heater core are both getting hot.

    Great vid on changing that actuator. I have a 2011 Charger that has noise on that same one, is it similar to this to replace? Thx.

      So I went ahead and replaced the blend door actuator and it worked fine a few times. I was able to switch from cold to hot and hot to cold. Then after I tested it a few times I tried switching it from hot to cold and it got stuck again on hot. It seems like for some reason it is having a hard time switching from hot to cold. From cold to hot it moves fine. When I watch the actuator under the dash I can even see the arm connected to the actuator struggle when trying to go from hot to cold. If I nudge it with my finger it will go ahead and move. So pretty much right now I'm just keeping it on the cold setting to avoid the hassle of it getting stuck on hot. I'm not sure what to do at this point

    Make sure you stick the white arm on first before trying to attach the actuator. It has a small hole that fixes itself onto the car even without the actuator installed. Turns an hour job into a twenty minute one!

      This is the part I'm struggling with the most. Does the arm snap into place?

    • @kc8175
      @kc8175 Рік тому +1

      Remove the arm from the actuator. Line up the post on the arm with the track on the car. The arm has a small hole in the middle of it that can attach to the car, it snaps into place. Then place the actuator in its install position and press it on to the arm. Screw into place and you’re done! Hope this helps.

    Awesome, thanks! I just brought a used 2014 Avenger yesterday and didn't notice the sound until after the purchase. Anyway, it doesn't look too urgent of a fix and the part on Amazon is only about $18.00. It just looks difficult to reach.

      @@backyardchevy328 I only have one question though. How is that it sometimes makes the clicking sound when the car isn't even running? Once I heard from outside the car as I was approaching before I even put the key in to start it. Do these vents move on their own?

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  4 роки тому +1

      I believe the blend door when cars unlocked if the temperatures cold it diverts most of the air into the cabin after warming up it diverts less air into the cabin...so it must operate temperature controlled and once its unlocked and detects key fob it must engage the system.
