- 2014 Dodge Avenger Heater Problems. Hey every one, Welcome to Romi's DIY Project's. Once again my wife comes through! So I have gone through two summer seasons and two winters seasons with AC and heater problems.
I was told that my Dodge Avenger AC problems and heater problems was probably my blower resistance motor. I watched videos on youtube on how to replace it myself, this is a simple and easy task but it turns out that the blower resistance motor was not the problem, waste my money on that part. I had given up on a self fix it.
I finally found the time and money to take my 2014 Dodge Avenger to the repair shop and get my AC and heater problems fixed. I was told $300 plus just for the part (200 dollar core charge) not including labor. But during that visit the mechanic told us he make those repairs often, as a matter of fact he just repaired another Dodge Avenger with the same heater problem. And he showed us a climate control module with a melt spot and assured us, that was the problem.
My wife gave me a look and I knew what that meant. She could fix my 2014 Dodge Avenger Heater Problems herself! We told him thank you but no thanks. He tripped by showing her that.

Had no heat and no AC. I followed your instructions but fortunately all I had to do was disconnect everything, blow out some dust and connect them again and it worked! Thank you for this video. Mine didn't burn up.

Thanks for this video, it saved me a few hundred bucks. I payed $80 on eBay for the part, instead of paying a mechanic a few hundreds for a “wiring” issue.
Good fix. I do mobile diagnostics and repairs, but it is still nice seeing people do their own fixes on fairly simple items!

You are awesome Romi. I have been plagued with the fan speed switch being stuck for 6 months. Luckily it was on high, just controlled the temp with the temp control knob. But sometimes you want the air speed lower. Yours is the only video I could find on it. I had it done in about 5 mins. Thank you so much. I subscribed.
Did you have to replace the part to get it unstuck or did you get it unstuck when you opened it?
Replaced the part. Very easy though. It has been working great for months now.

I appreciate this. I would've never thought about the control panel. I replaced the resistor and had no change. Usually that's the case when the heat only works on the last two high settings. I also have a slight electrical burning smell that's concerning so this is the first thing I have to look at in the morning. Thanks again. 🙏

Thank you very much for your video. I'm 1000 miles from home in a desert and my fan control went out. I was able to jumper it to get full fan speed on all the time by connecting the top and bottom large wires. I was thinking it might be the blower motor or resistor but then after a quick test with a jumper wire I was able to tell it was the board.

Also go to the junk yard, find and pull an extra one for standby .
My middle knob started smoking today and ive been trying to figure out how to take that off. Love learning something new!!
Thank you! Mine has been acting wonly for a few years now, and just burned out completely today on my way home from work. Smoke pouring out of that dash and everything. (Pro tip, don't wait as long as I did 😮) I figured this wouldn't be too hard, but you probably saved me from cracking the panel or breaking a clip.

Hit the junk yard and find another one just to have on standby.. I replaced it twice. Should have been a recall.

you go... anyone have a clicking sometimes like maybe where the fan is ,, sounds like something slapping the fan blades ?
xdrfox that's the blend door actuator there are other videos about that.
Door flap actuator hard to get to but it's easy to fix and it happens to every dodge advenger along with the trottle body goes out and the window switch. They try to make it as good as the Ford fusion but failed in every way but it's a car so not gonna complain to much the actuator is like 30 if you get it online from rock auto autozone is like 55 orileys wanted 65 I paid 30 and haven't had not one problem

I can't thank you enough I have a new mechanic and he wants to charge me $80 just to put in my battery can you believe it I don't know I must look like I have a stem on my head I mean I don't but he's out of control thank you

I have 2014 Dodge Avenger and almost 2 years ago my ac just stopped working. Has freon I can hear the ac clutch kick on heat works fine. Could it still be the climate control?

What was your heater issue? I’m currently experiencing an issue where the heat won’t come on. (I turn the center dial, and it stays the same cold temp). There’s no blend door movement. I bought a new blend door, and it didn’t fix the issue.
Did you ever figure it out my mom's car is doing the same thing. On heat seating still cold air.
Bill Thoden Yep! There’s a third blend door I didn’t know about. It’s on the left side of the center console, on the drivers side. That one controls the amount of heat comes in to the cabin. Replaced that one, and it worked.
I have no heat at all! Tell me what I need to do? Blows fine... just not hot?
@@candicewashington8438 replace the blend door actuator in the driver side of the center console under the steering wheel. side panel comes off. there one wedged up in the side. This one controls how much cold/hot air comes into the cabin

No not the same problem. You need to maybe look up, blend door actuator

Mine works it's just that I have to put it on high to feel any heat really. It just started acting like that recently.
That's where it starts, it will go out completely, sooner or later.

There's a recall on my airbags and seatbelt...I also have a rack and pinion issue . But that could be Denver streets
My heat only blows hot air when you put the control setting to the first "head air" flow only option on the 3rd dial and push the first dial in for "internal" air flow to illuminate the light on the car symbol. Is my control switch bad as well? I have a 2012 Avenger.

Thanks for the video...this is exactly what I needed to see. Can I ask, was the issue with the knobs themselves? The problem I have is the blower knob turns, but not smoothly anymore and I have to get it in just the right spot for the AC to blow. It blows on high or nothing. So I think it's just the knob out of line, or maybe burned up like you said in the video. Thanks again!
Sound like the blower resistor motor (also a simple fix) located under the glove box. Two screws and a plug

Hey you shouldn't have to replace the whole thing open it up and clean the connections that's what I did it will have melted plastic most likely all over it and you just have to scrape it all off and I did that and now mine works perfectly
How do you open the back? It's nearly impossible with the 4 tabs .

I changed the heater fan resistor on mine. Im only getting one speed on my fan. Before i replaced it i had no speeds. What was yours doing to know you had to change it ?
I had one speed (high) after a yr or so. I was getting nothing. Then I changed it.
What if we dont see any melted spot? Do you think it could be something else? Having same exact problem though. Only hot air on driver side. Only on the high setting
You might want to do research on the blower resistor motor. Located under the dashboard behind the glove box. Easy to get to, only two screws and plug in.
Or the actuator is bad.
Exactly what issues were you having? My 2012 Avenger has stopped blowing hot air. It started on the passenger side now its completely.

Mine is having the same problem. Only getting hot air on the driver side vent. I dont see any melted plastic like in the video on mine though. Any luck with your yet?
I replaced my thermostat because I was getting that faulty code. Hoped that would fix my issues.... Nope. In fact, it fixed AN issue, but I still only get heat on the drivers side and by "heat", I mean warm at best.

@@Dejaro1337 I did not. I eventually lost all heat. Replaced my thermostat, and that fixed the heat on my drivers side. I've replaced the vent door actuator... still no heat on passenger side. I believe my issue is going to be the dreaded expensive heater core that I'm told is about $1200 to repair

I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 Limited 3.6 and the heat sorta works, but only on 76 and 79. If I turn the knob onto anything other than 76 or 79, it blows cool air. Any ideas what could be the cause of that?
Make sure your unit is the same as mine. With that said my fan/blower only worked on high before it stopped working completely. Haven't had a problem since I changed the unit.
@@dbobo5255 The unit is the same, just the print on the faces of them are different between the 200 and Avenger. My fan works on all settings.

No, but a few people seem to think it's an issue with one of the blend door actuators.
What exactly was that doing was heat coming out on one side and air on the other one or did it just quit all together

What were the actual symptoms of your problem?
Use to work, then it only worked on hi, then nothing at all, no blower nothing. If I get on the hi-way their seem to be a lil heat. Changed the climate control and every thing works.
Hi Romi. I have the exact same ac control as yours, a 2014 dodge avenger. I took it out with the screwdriver but the problem I am having is pulling the wires out of the box itself. How did you pill the wires out of it?
They should be just like a plug. Just unplug them. One may have a red tab/lock on it. Just slide it back and unplug

How much is it
Hi i remote start my car during winter. Setting on max heat. But will have cold air come out of the vents. I have to turn the it to cold setting and turn back to warm to start having warm air.
Anyone have this issue? It goes down to -40 where i live.
I wonder if it will fox the problem?

I did this replaced it because it stopped blowing air at all no heater or air replaced it and it works now it blows out the air but it won’t get cold before it was ice cold before any problems did anybody have that problem?

Soo i got the 2013 dodge avenger se same issue AC/HEAT only works on lvl 3 and 4 , lvl 1 and 2 doesnt blow, i changed the blower resister and nothing u think replacing this part could fix it?
Freddy Juarez same exact problem I had, then eventually it stopped working on hi also. I did the blower resister motor also with no luck. Soon has she plugged it in, heat and ac. Perfect timing also cause it is COLD! Lol
Freddy Juarez It will cost you nothing to check it yourself. If you see a melt mark like she described in the video, that's probably it.

Hah, no kidding. I had a dead battery before work one day, I called in and said I'd be an hour late so I could change it. Took me 3 hours to do. What kind of genius designs a car with the battery behind the wheel instead of under the hood?

rockit kid with it connect if you push the buttons do the lights still light up? I’m having this issue. The blower fan does not kick on which I know is good but the defrost light and the rear air light come on if I push them
