Cheers mate, glad to hear you appreciate the mindset. When I first started playing I wasn’t always like that, I would get very frustrated at a poor shot or be in a bad mood after a poor round but I’ve learned just to take the good with the bad and enjoy being out on the course regardless. I also think that mentality actually helps you to play better too. Thanks for watching and good luck with your golf game 👍🏻
Well done mate. I play off 27 too so know exactly how you feel. You did play some lovely shots and breaking 100 is always welcome and 37 points is pretty good too. Looking forward to seeing your progress. All the best.

Great to see someone a similar handicap to myself and even better to see golf courses I’d like to play. Are you having any lessons? If so maybe you could show some clips of them and show how you’re including what you’ve learned into the videos, so everyone can see you improve and perhaps encourage others to have lessons. Have to say I really like some of the courses you’ve been playing and I’m going to be looking at putting an away trip to Ireland for some of our club members instead of going to Turkey. Keep up the good work and remember to enjoy your golf, it’s not just about being the best 👍
Hi Robert, cheers mate 😀 Delighted you’re enjoying the content and courses 👍🏻 I actually haven’t had a lesson in over two years. The last of which I did film and put out as an episode so you should find it if you go back far enough. Im hoping to find a coach nearby who’ll work with me over the winter and doesn’t mind being recorded so I can put out a bit of content regarding my training 👍🏻 Great news you’re thinking about organising a trip to Ireland. If you need any advice on courses etc. just give me a shout 👍🏻 You’ll enjoy the courses, can’t guarantee you’ll enjoy the weather though, it’s certainly not Turkey 😂
This round felt more like an 89 and not a 99. Eliminate those mental mistakes and youve got a solid round going. Not only is the golf getting better, but so is the editing. See ya next round! 🍻
Thanks mate, I thought so too. Just gave away too many strokes stupidly in good positions. But probably played 13-14 holes really well 👍🏻 Glad there’s a noticeable improvement in the editing. I’ve been putting a lot of work into them so nice to see it is noticeable 😃
Nice to see gameplay like this. It relates easily. Would be even nicer if you could also show the distance of each shot, or the distance to pin after each shot. Have fun :)
"I don't want to talk about it too much in case I scare it off." That one made me laugh, Jamie. I can tell you, as a 3 handicap, that I still have that feeling when things are going well. Afraid to jinx it! Solid round here.
Well it’s good to know it’s not just a high handicapper thing 😂 Honestly, I’m just so conditioned now to not talk about my game at all because when I do it always results in catastrophe. Sometimes when I’m playing with strangers, and I start well, they’ll ask me “what did you say your handicap was again?” and no sooner do the words leave their lips, my game turns to absolute 💩😂 And thanks. I thought I played quite well, i was just a bit sloppy in places. Definitely the best I’ve struck the ball in a long time. Thanks for watching Daniel, much appreciated 👍🏻
Cheers mate, appreciate the kind words. I’m still keeping the faith and if worse comes to worse and I don’t get down, at least I will have had lots of fun trying 😄 Thanks for watching mate 👍🏻
Really enjoyed that mate. Had my first round a few weeks back at Portsalon Donegal (hidden gem) scored a 112. Practicesd a good bit up at he range over and since covid. Looking forward to getting out and trying to break 100. You're managing that with ease 👍
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻 I’ve yet to play in Donegal but I’ve seen lots of the courses and the look absolutely incredible so very jealous you got to play there. Well done on your round. Keep plugging away and you’ll break 100 for sure. I always try and keep my rounds in perspective now because it wasn’t so long ago I would have bitten your hand off to be shooting a 99 so now I don’t get too disheartened regardless of what I shoot. It’s just nice to be out playing golf. Keep up the good work mate and thanks for watching 👍🏻
I think that’s a really good round Jamie even if the 99 doesn’t look as good on the scoreboard. 37 points is very decent and you were flushing a fair few shots, your putting apart from one looked good and that means your strike on the face is getting better. Really enjoy the videos and can’t wait for the next lovely looking Irish course! Keep it going mate 😄👍👍
Thanks Stephen, I was pretty happy with how I played. Just 3-4 bad holes maybe cost me a very good score. But as long as I can feel improvement, I don’t mind. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it mate. Next one is already filmed it, just need to edit it now 👍🏻
Well done....Rathsallagh looks like a nice track must try and play it when weather improves. Just a few bits of advice (hope you don't mind me saying it..) 1. You tend to keep your weight on you right side a bit when hitting ball try and shift your weight more to your left side when striking the ball. 2. Bunker play longer back swing hit a inch of so behind ball and commit to the shot. You are well able to strike the ball I see no reason why you can't be "Diary of a Mid Handicapper" 👍
Thanks very much Jeremy. Appreciate the positive feedback 👍🏻 I’m terrible for shifting to my right hand side and staying there. Sometimes I go out and pretty much keep all my weight on my lead side throughout the swing (I know this is technically incorrect also) and the difference it makes in terms of my ball striking. Not sure why I don’t just do it all the time 🤷🏻♂️ Rathsallagh is beautiful, particularly in the summer time. I play it 2-3 times a year so would definitely urge you to get out there. Tee times are usually decent enough even on weekends. Thanks for watching Jeremy and I hope you continue to enjoy my channel 👍🏻
Hey man I think better club selection from that 130-160 range might benefit you a lot. I lowered my handicap about five strokes by taking a 7 iron form 140 instead of a nine and only having the thought of "just make good contact" in my head! Also, decide 100% on what type of shot shape you want to hit and what hazards you want to avoid or flight the ball over if you are shaping it before you even step up to the ball! Keeping it in play with that mindset is super important! Keep your head up out there and try to have fun, I think a lot of us struggle in that department 🤣
Thanks mate. My normal thought process is 8 Iron for 140, 7 Iron for 150 and 6 Iron for 160. Then I'll take into account wind, slope, flag position, and what part of the green I'm aiming for etc. For example, it might say 140 to a back pin but I might take 9 Iron as I'm actually aiming for 130 with some run out. Thanks for the feedback and watching the video. I always try to enjoy myself regardless of how I play. I just try and enjoy being out on the course.
99 and 37 pts is not to be sneezed at. Like the rest of us there were a few shots you'd like to forget but, overall, I think this is as good as I've seen you play. Nice work Sir.
Thanks Tom. I’m pretty much in agreement with you. I was slightly disappointed with the score because I felt like I played really well. I also think it’s probably the best I’ve played on camera so probably expected a better score. But I lost a couple of the tee, and duffed a few wedges but stamp that out and it would have been an excellent score. Happy with my form though 👍🏻 Thanks for watching
Hi mate, thanks a million for the sub, much appreciated 👍🏻 Glad you can relate to the content but you have my commiserations that you have the same golf struggles as me 😂
My struggles are mostly topping fairway shots and just getting to the green. Sure eats up a lot of strokes!! I'll be looking for your improvements & good luck! It is a great game.@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper
Thanks mate. For what it’s worth (which is probably zero 😂), I found my topping struggles were all to do with swinging too hard and fast. Once I slowed it down a bit, I very rarely top it anymore. Thanks for the well wishes and best of luck with your game too 👍🏻
I think your easy going attitude on not minding if your handicap improves or not is what will actually help improve your handicap. Too many people get stressed if they don’t play well and worry too much about score during the round and that’s what actually stops them scoring better.
Thanks Ryan. I was one of those people you’ve described when I first started and I soon realised that it puts far too much pressure on yourself and makes enjoying golf virtually impassible. So now I just try and enjoy my round, good or bad, and let the scoring look after itself. I’ve seen loads of improvement in myself (even if others haven’t 😂) since I first started so that keeps me happy. Thanks for watching mate 👍🏻
Just found your channel mate. Loving the content. Im a new golf i started around early September im currently hcp 22.4. i can certainly relate to a great shot followed by a shanked shot 😂. What do you use for you shot tracking and i assume you use a tripod, do u have dedicated camera or using your phone? You earned a like and sub 👍
Hi Daniel, glad you’re enjoying the content and cheers for supporting the channel 👍🏻 I pay a subscription for the shot tracer app, I’m not sure if there are any other ones there. At the moment I’ve just been using my phone, I find it the handiest. I do have a tripod but mostly I just use a little phone attachment for my trolley 👍🏻
That was a good effort: 9 good holes and only 4 blobs. Your stats are slightly better than mine (25.8) but you hit your clubs 10-20 yards further, being a bit younger than me. I wouldn't want to play you for money!
Thanks Andy, definitely felt this was one of my better rounds. I remember thinking the swing was feeling nice and smooth, for the most part, which isn’t always the case 😂 thought I actually played better than the final score but overall was very pleased 👍🏻
lovely course, I would love to play there and come a little back to my roots (my mum left Dublin in 1954 getting married to a Dutchman) maybe one day, who knows ?
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. It’s a super course. Well if you ever make it here let me know and I’ll gladly take you for a round 🏌🏻♂️ Thank you for watching as always 👍🏻
I noticed your rushing your shots. Take time, have a few practice shots before hitting the ball. If you do this going forward your HC will come down, because when your connecting your a descent golfer. Good video buddy 😊
Yeah for some reason I tend to move pretty quickly from practice swing into my actual swing. Sometimes i need to remind myself to stop and breath for a sec. Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
hello from france. you are simple and natural, i like it. thank you for your videos. i am around your handicap, hope it will help me to understand some things.
Hi Stephane, thank you for the very nice message 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully it helps you. Good luck with the game 🏌🏻♂️Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
I play off 20 and I really relate to your game. Have watched all of your content and your swing tempo was way better in this video (except the last hole where you lost it). Your putting looks really very solid. You need to work on a bunker technique. You can get a lesson but I applied UA-cam tips and have massively improved my bunker play to the point where I am not concerned going in them anymore and this helps confidence with approach shots. Like you I play too many really rank shots (often off the tee or from the middle of the fairway) which cost me but when on a roll I get comments around ‘how come you are playing off 20’. I always think wait a little while and you will find out; I never disappoint in that. Love your content and your attitude. Funny that I am playing tomorrow (its still winter here in Queensland) but warmer here than where you are in summer😂.
Yeah I really felt like my tempo was so much better this round. In fact, it felt like this was the slowest I've ever swung a golf club yet my distances had all increased. Although, when I watch the footage, it still looks quick, so maybe I need to go even slower 🤣 It just shows though, you don't need to swing hard to increase distance, it's all technique. I hear ya in terms of people questioning your handicap. Many times I'll start really well, and I'm just waiting for the first comment. And then sure enough someone in the group questions my integrity or how my handicap is so high and I pretty much say the same as you - "You'll see" 🤣 I actually think when people make the comment, it derails me. I just wish they would let me play good golf 🤣 And I really do appreciate you following the channel, I always recognise your name when you leave a comment and they're always very positive so it's much appreciated 👍 This summer has genuinely been the worst in my memory in Ireland so maybe it was a good summer to have my first kid so I wasn't missing THAT much golf 😎 Better not be like this next year however 🤣 Enjoy the round tomorrow mate. Do us 20+ handicappers proud 🤣
Hi Jamie, just started following you on the channel. Nice stuff! Really inspired to go out and play more golf! May I know which app are you using to trace your golf shots? Thanks!
Hi Noel, thanks a million for the follow, I really appreciate it 👍🏻 I hope you enjoy the content. The app I use is called “shot tracer”. It should be the first one that pops up in the app store. There is a yearly subscription however 👍🏻
Cheers mate, have been playing a couple of rounds here and there but the weather has been far too bad to film lately. Hoping to record a new video though this weekend 🤞🏼
Yeah I tend to hook my irons but slice my driver 🤷🏻♂️ For some reason I tend to close the club head at impact so that it’s facing very far left. Might be more of a pull than a hook
The pin was at the back so I actually wasnt trying to hit it 140. Was aiming for a 135 shot into the middle of the green which would be a 9 iron for me. I hit my 6 about 160 so would have flown the green 👍🏻
I do love your content, the view of the beautiful courses in Ireland (hope to play there some day), and your even demeanor when the game is going south. However, the only criticism I have is that ear curdling tune being played between holes -- the one when you display the scorecard. I will personally donate to your account if you promise to change it.
😂😂😂 I’ve heard that from a few people to be fair so I have to appreciate that the people have spoken… consider it changed 🤝 I’ll even do it for free 😂 glad you’re enjoying the content 👍🏻
Haha 11 & 12 sum up my problems. I feel I could be a decent golfer, and play many holes quite well, but I’m always amazed at how quickly I can blow up a hole
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper I scored 90 for 18 the other day, 41 on front 9. Next round back to 100, then next round worse. The annoying thing is it’s not an average. I get more pars now but I get that 8 or worse a 9 that will pop up once or twice per round which just ruins the round. I don’t understand why some holes you forget how to play.
I feel your pain mate. I shot my best ever score of 88, walked off the course thinking I had cracked the game, and literally six days later I shot 104. A 16 shot swing in less than a week. And I was convinced I was doing exactly the same thing as when I broke 90. It’s a helluva game. I’m convinced I just go dumb for 33% of the round 😂
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper I’m yet to break 90. It’s my summer goal. I guess no one would play it if it was easy. It’s a pretty good feeling when you smash a drive down the middle, flush an iron, chip in or sink that long putt.
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper that there is. It’s very hard to forget about bad shots but if u were a boxer and u throw a good punch u don’t think that was good. Just go to the next one.
I lost the first ball, so had to hit a provisional off the tee which was my 3rd shot (as I had to take a penalty stroke). So then my next shot I was playing my fourth

Keep up the good work and remember to enjoy your golf, it’s not just about being the best
👍
Hi Robert, cheers mate 😀 Delighted you’re enjoying the content and courses 👍🏻
I actually haven’t had a lesson in over two years. The last of which I did film and put out as an episode so you should find it if you go back far enough.
Im hoping to find a coach nearby who’ll work with me over the winter and doesn’t mind being recorded so I can put out a bit of content regarding my training 👍🏻
Great news you’re thinking about organising a trip to Ireland.
But probably played 13-14 holes really well 👍🏻
Glad there’s a noticeable improvement in the editing. I’ve been putting a lot of work into them so nice to see it is noticeable 😃
Gosh, it's scary that a bloke that good has a 27 handicap! 😂
A bloke that good who still shot a 99 😂 Just need to tidy up a few areas hopefully 👍🏻
Nice to see gameplay like this. It relates easily. Would be even nicer if you could also show the distance of each shot, or the distance to pin after each shot. Have fun :)
Thanks Luke, glad you enjoyed it 😀
Oh and I’ve subscribed to see how your improving
And thanks a million for the sub. Makes such a massive difference to the channel and it’s much appreciated 👍🏻
Sometimes when I’m playing with strangers, and I start well, they’ll ask me “what did you say your handicap was again?” and no sooner do the words leave their lips, my game turns to absolute 💩😂
And thanks. I thought I played quite well, i was just a bit sloppy in places. Definitely the best I’ve struck the ball in a long time.
Thanks for watching Daniel, much appreciated 👍🏻
You’ll definitely get down to a 18 handicap. Probably lower than that for sure. Consistent pitching saves so many shots. Great vid, keep smiling 👍🏌️
Cheers mate, appreciate the kind words. I’m still keeping the faith and if worse comes to worse and I don’t get down, at least I will have had lots of fun trying 😄 Thanks for watching mate 👍🏻
Fair play from another high handicapper .. we just need to get out more (a lot more!)
That’s what I keep telling myself anyway 😂
Hey, Keeping it real. Nice round
Cheers mate, much appreciated 👍🏻
Course.looked great
Glad you thought so. I really liked it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Your tee shots are consistent, I'd take that all day over my grass cutters and shanks!
Thanks mate, I’m usually steady enough off the tee. Main issue tends to be approach shots from the fairway
Next one is already filmed it, just need to edit it now 👍🏻
Looking forward to it 👍👍
Cheers Stephen 👍🏻
Well done....Rathsallagh looks like a nice track must try and play it when weather improves. Just a few bits of advice (hope you don't mind me saying it..) 1. You tend to keep your weight on you right side a bit when hitting ball try and shift your weight more to your left side when striking the ball. 2. Bunker play longer back swing hit a inch of so behind ball and commit to the shot. You are well able to strike the ball I see no reason why you can't be "Diary of a Mid Handicapper" 👍
Thanks very much Jeremy. Appreciate the positive feedback 👍🏻
I’m terrible for shifting to my right hand side and staying there. Sometimes I go out and pretty much keep all my weight on my lead side throughout the swing (I know this is technically incorrect also) and the difference it makes in terms of my ball striking. Not sure why I don’t just do it all the time 🤷🏻♂️
Rathsallagh is beautiful, particularly in the summer time. I play it 2-3 times a year so would definitely urge you to get out there. Tee times are usually decent enough even on weekends.
Thanks for watching Jeremy and I hope you continue to enjoy my channel 👍🏻
woah you're different, that 8 iron for 144 yards was sick! i was low in my first season, i would have gone 6 iron. nice hit,.
Cheers mate, appreciate the compliment 👍🏻
every credit.......not afraid to show your bad aswell as your good shots keep the train going its a nice journey.....😊😊😊😊😊
Cheers mate, appreciate the support 👍🏻
18:15 "That's the worst shot I've hit today." 18:30..."Oh guys...." lol relatable my man.
😂 When I saw these timestamps I knew exactly what they’d be 😂 An absolute horror show 😱
Cheers for watching mate 👍🏻
I think you may have just described a typical round of mine!
Haha Golf eh?
Wonderful video and extremely well edited and put together. New subscriber here 👍👍
Thanks very much mate, much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the vid and I hope you enjoy the channel 👍🏻
New viewer & subscriber. This is like watching me!!! Good stuff.
Graphics are very good…✊
Thanks mate, much appreciated 👍🏻
Reminds me of me playing, some great shots and some bad shots
It literally sums up every round I play 👍🏻
Well if you ever make it here let me know and I’ll gladly take you for a round 🏌🏻♂️
Thank you for watching as always 👍🏻
I noticed your rushing your shots. Take time, have a few practice shots before hitting the ball. If you do this going forward your HC will come down, because when your connecting your a descent golfer. Good video buddy 😊
Yeah for some reason I tend to move pretty quickly from practice swing into my actual swing. Sometimes i need to remind myself to stop and breath for a sec. Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
keep going Jamie, learn from your mistakes and u will get to 18 or better
Thanks John
hello from france. you are simple and natural, i like it. thank you for your videos. i am around your handicap, hope it will help me to understand some things.
I just wish they would let me play good golf 🤣
And I really do appreciate you following the channel, I always recognise your name when you leave a comment and they're always very positive so it's much appreciated 👍
This summer has genuinely been the worst in my memory in Ireland so maybe it was a good summer to have my first kid so I wasn't missing THAT much golf 😎 Better not be like this next year however 🤣
Enjoy the round tomorrow mate. Do us 20+ handicappers proud 🤣
oi we da same! you went hard with that 9iron, but i woul have nice hit a 6 iron at 136 yards :P
Thanks for watching mate, hopefully you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
Hi Jamie, just started following you on the channel. Nice stuff! Really inspired to go out and play more golf! May I know which app are you using to trace your golf shots? Thanks!
Hi Noel, thanks a million for the follow, I really appreciate it 👍🏻 I hope you enjoy the content. The app I use is called “shot tracer”. It should be the first one that pops up in the app store. There is a yearly subscription however 👍🏻
Get back out there and keep the videos rolling, the birdies will come
Cheers mate, have been playing a couple of rounds here and there but the weather has been far too bad to film lately. Hoping to record a new video though this weekend 🤞🏼
I don't think I've ever hooked a shot, now slice, yes, all the time
Yeah I tend to hook my irons but slice my driver 🤷🏻♂️ For some reason I tend to close the club head at impact so that it’s facing very far left. Might be more of a pull than a hook
Played better than the score indicates
Thanks mate, I thought so too. Suppose the few penalty strokes didn’t help 👍🏻
Beautiful game. It was hard to watch the ball next to the tree.
Even harder watching it in person 😂 Thanks for watching mate 👍🏻
Need to take the bunkers!!!
Assuming this is meant to be rake the bunkers, which I always do 👍🏻
you gotta club up! goign 140 wth 9 iron. I bet your 6 iron would have been spot on
The pin was at the back so I actually wasnt trying to hit it 140.
I wish I could hit my hybrid as well as you do. I just leave it at home these days. Lol.
Honestly mate I still have days where I go out and just cannot hit it. It’s a funny club 😂
After hole 1 I thought: yet another of those "high" handicapers that destroys my 16 hcp..... After that, like 11 & 12 much more relatable :)
Haha 11 & 12 sum up my problems. I feel I could be a decent golfer, and play many holes quite well, but I’m always amazed at how quickly I can blow up a hole
Maybe I can play this game, famous last words of the armature golfer.
So many times I think I’ve cracked this game and within seconds I come crashing back down to reality 😂 Golf eh? 🤷🏻♂️
So sorry for not replying to this comment at the time. Must have slipped through the net. How’d you get on with your summer goal of breaking 90?
I’m off 24 and you are considerably better than me
Cheers mate. On my day I can play some pretty decent golf but just far too inconsistent
need to add extra club on each holes.
👍🏻
Thought you struck the ball pretty good. Just some loose wedge play robbed you of a really decent score but very good to watch your round 👍
Thanks David, was happy with my performance overall, just gave away a few silly strokes. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
I'm quite new to golf, what is the scoring system called that you're using?
It’s called the Stableford scoring system 👍🏻
Ah sweet, thanks mate. Love the channel, keep it up 👍
Cheers mate, really appreciate that 👍🏻
60th best in Ireland, top 10 most other countries!
Yep, we’re pretty blessed here in terms of courses ☘️
What's with the number 6 in brackets? I thought maybe it was the stroke index of the hole but the 2nd hole still has it, fairly confusing.
It’s just my logo, designed to look like a double bogey on a scorecard I.e. High handicap golf
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper ah sorry, now you've commented I see what you mean lol
Haha no worries mate. Thanks for watching the vid 👍🏻
Those 2 on the 6th. Lovely stuff. Why u go back and play
Absolutely. Gotta focus on the positives and its those shots that convince you there could be a golfer in there somewhere 😂
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper that there is. It’s very hard to forget about bad shots but if u were a boxer and u throw a good punch u don’t think that was good. Just go to the next one.
Very true. Cheers mate 🥊
Looks a great course but playing long with all that lush, long grass.
Really nice course mate and a fair bit of length 👍🏻
Add a bit more commentary...club selection and your thought process and you have a winning ticket!
Cheers mate, appreciate the feedback 👍🏻
I play pretty much identical to this guy, make the same comments and excuses too.. lol
😂 Nice to know I’m not the only one struggling along 😂👍🏻
4:00 . . 4th ? I thought it was 3rd
I lost the first ball, so had to hit a provisional off the tee which was my 3rd shot (as I had to take a penalty stroke). So then my next shot I was playing my fourth

Thanks Rob, much appreciated 👍🏻
