This is what I expected to see. One suggestion that changed my game 16 years ago…Furyk had article in Golf Mag about his stock yardages. And went into great detail on club selection for approaches. In short he has no choke, 1” and 2” choke on each club. So basically 3 yardages per club. Once I went out to a field and spent a week or so hitting balls I measured off every shot plugged into xls and made my own yardage book. Those 75-175 yard approach shots went from being 20-30 feet away for bird to 10-20 feet. I suck at putting but that was a game changer for my scoring. 2-4 handicap for many years after that. No more over/under power clubs for yardages. You got 136y to pin. That’s my 9i with 1” choke. 105y? Aux wedge 2” choke.
Riggs from Barstool Sports needs to do one of these. He consistently claims to be a 3.5 but can’t break 90 and has a horrible swing. This guy’s game is SO MUCH better.
Riggs might have a rough swing, but he sure knows how to entertain! 😅 If he ever wants a friendly match, I’m game. Thanks for the compliment-means a lot! 🏌️♂️
Solid and consistent swing, and very good course management. Although those par fours are shorter holes very smart play to keep the driver in the bag and leave yourself comfortable wedge distances into the pins.
Thanks! 🙏 I appreciate the comment and the understanding that on these shorter courses it is important a lot of the time not to take driver just for the sake of it and to play the percentages. I could have tried going for every green on the shorter par 4s and ended up +10, as that’s not the play. And like you said I was trying to leave myself with a decent wedge yardage 🤙
Recently got back into golf and just did 2 days in a row. This popped up on my timeline, and despite never really watching these types of videos I watched the whole thing. I felt the pain on the put for par on 9. 😭
Thanks mate much appreciated 🙏 yeh that one on the 9th was a bummer especially after a nice bunker shot 🙈 back 9 coming out Wednesday and was quite the contract thankfully 🙌

Haha, I know, right? Summer vibes were on point! Have to admit, I loved playing Moors! Such a great value for money golf course. Glad you dug the tunes too!
TBH, for a 2 hc player, lot of missed fairways, not exactly tap in birdies, always 1 putt from a bogey, just goes to show how good the top professionals are 😊
True, my front 9 wasn’t exactly a highlight reel. But the back 9? Vastly improved. Golf’s a lot like life-you can always turn it around after a rough start!
@@alexwhittlegolf absolutely! Case in point: Last week I was 4-over par, 40 on the front-9, then turned it around with a 4-under par, 32 on the back-9 for an even par round. We LOVE golf!
Good solid mechanics. Tough when the putter isn't hot. Please leave the fake bird noises out next time. Hearing that same bird recording in my left ear for 75% of the video nearly ruined it.
Thanks 🙏 still a lot of work to do over the winter though. Yeh putter wasn’t working well in the front 9 but I changed something and the back 9 was very different. I’ll be releasing that Wednesday, don’t worry no birdies in the background on the back 9 ✌️
Thanks! Still room for improvement. I actually changed my grip on the back 9 as I wasn't really feeling comfortable this 9, which might be why i didn't really hole anything. Check out the back 9 Wednesday and you might see more drop :)
One small thing, your hands are a little behind you at the top. Try getting them a little more vertical if possible. Great tempo though. Good video. I like the lack of nonsense. The irons were hard to see when you displayed the club. Keep it up!
Interesting that you picked up on that, as this is something that has come up in a recent lesson and subsequently is being worked on currently. I agree with the irons, upcoming content I am releasing I am miked up so I believe are much better videos. Thanks for comments though :)
Thanks for the kind words! Stable player-I’ll take that as a win! 😄 You’re spot on about the irons though; they’re definitely keeping my putter busier than it needs to be. Appreciate the feedback! 🏌️♂️
Just an observation, at 4:46 your shot was pretty straight but you seemed to be aiming at the right side of the green. Is that intentional? I was just wondering if you planned to hit a draw, or it was just a little mis-aiming..
You are bang on, great observation. An issue which has since been picked and and one I have struggled with in the past. Aiming my feet too far right, this is what has become to look square to me when stood over the ball but is obviously not. So I have been working on feeling like I stood open, which is in fact square, takes some getting used to but it's getting there :)
Nice round and solid technique. You’re obviously local to me. I’ve just returned to golf after 20 year break and been so far played Crane Valley four times and 9 holes at Parley. Will check out Moors Valley in the spring 👍🏻. Which other courses would you recommend for mid hcp player (12-18)
Thanks mate 🙏 yeh Crane is pretty decent! I think you’ll love moors valley though, and it’s not too expensive either! Just have to wait for the weather to pick up first
@@rickeidam3287 thanks, much appreciated 🙏 it was at Moors Valley, great value golf course. Not my home course, into played a couple of times. If you ever get a chance I would recommend
Nice game m8. How tall are you? You seem tall. I'm very tall myself and I struggle with setup and consistency. I like the way you stand tall and I try that as well and closer to the ball but it can lead to pushes or slight slices.
Thanks! The back 9 ended up a lot better, that's out next week. I am 6ft, I do struggle with those misses occasionally, which I am currently working on a few things to counter this.
It's definitely not the longest but I wasn't able to play off the backs there that day as these were the furthest tees out. The slope is 120, not a walk in the park by all means but a decent amount of birdie opportunities out there if you play smart and leave the driver in the bag. It's not always about length
Appreciate the comment! Just to clarify, the senior tees weren’t what we were playing-these were the only tees set up that day since the back tees weren’t available. Would’ve loved to play from the blues or tips if they were an option!
Great game, why are you only off 2! So solid. Pace putting put yourself under a fair bit of unnecessary pressure though. Another day that front 9 could’ve easily been 2under
Couple of notes for all golfers: 1. Use the Driver when you need to, not always when you want to. 2. The putting strokes main function is to make the ball go the right distance, your eyes are there for finding the correct direction. 3. The transition between backswing and forward swing is the swings most vital area...smooth, never rushed. Watch the LPGA to prove this.
Finally, someone who gets it! Too many people just look at the yardage of a hole or the total course and assume it’s easy without considering the strategy involved. Moors Valley is a perfect example of why you can’t rely on distance alone-you have to think your way around. And I love your tips, especially about the driver and the transition-smooth is definitely key. Watching the LPGA is such great advice too, their tempo is amazing!
Thanks for the kind words and for watching! Just a quick note-being +3 through 9 doesn’t always mean I’ll finish +6 for 18. Golf has a funny way of surprising you, as you’ll see if you stick around for the back nine. Things can change quickly out there! I really appreciate the encouragement-stay tuned for more rounds to come! 🏌♂

Not making money on my Florida g tour with that swing. I’d say slow the putts down to make the hole bigger. Use driver on short par 4s, get closer to pin on anything under 130, punch with feet closer together using 99.999% of left hand even open palm on right hand. Lift weights so you can hit it longer. If you get better chics will be around you when swinging the club.
Haha, looks like I’ve got my entire game plan laid out now-thanks, Coach! 😂 I’ll start lifting weights tomorrow, and I’ll be sure to keep that 99.999% left-hand punch shot in my back pocket 😅 Appreciate the tips! 💪🏌️
Good player of course but if I had to be an arm chair quarterback I would say it's his approach shots that need the work. Master the 150 to 100 shot and you are scratch
Yeh, a lot missed right of where I need to be but actually exactly where I am aiming. Basically alignment issues, which I have been working on since this video
Purposefully. Unfortunately we couldn’t play off the whites as they were not out so it was playing shorter than normal. Having said that, using driver brings way more trouble into play on most holes. Got to play the percentages 👍
You gave yourself a lot of birdie looks, just not the easiest of putts. You didn't putt bad. I'm guessing you weren't quite on with the irons and wedges. I know, for myself, if my 8-iron through wedges are on, then I can place the ball exactly where I want to. That way, I leave myself a lot of straight uphill putts. Good/bad iron and wedge play is really the only difference between +3 and -3.
Thanks for the comment! You’re absolutely right-my irons and wedges weren’t as sharp as they could’ve been, which left me with some tricky birdie putts. I felt like I was always just a little off in terms of distance or placement, which made a big difference. Straight uphill putts are definitely the key, and I completely agree that the short irons and wedges are what separate a solid round from a great one. Definitely something to focus on improving!
Could be the camera angles, but looks like you set up most shots aimed well to the right and have to correct by cutting across it and 'early extending' somewhat from top. Even with putter. Could be worth looking at
You are bang on! Something since the video I have been working on. I have always struggled with my feet alignment aiming too far right without realizing and then wonder why I miss so much to the right.
@@alexwhittlegolfNice. Yeah it's something I continuously work on as I naturally creep into it. Once I realised the brain wants to align the feet to the target not the club arc I kinda got it sorted. Still "feels like" I aim well left every time! Some good vids on Parralax on YT also helped get head around it.
It's the putting that makes your handicap good (well in my case it is) i usually hit GIR but guess what, i finish with a bogey or worse because i mostly 3-4 putt every hole. If i can 2 putt every hole, id be in single digit handicap by now. But nooooooooooo, i score a God damn 90 because of my damn putting.
I feel that! Normally, my putting is what saves me, but when it’s off, I’m in the same boat-hitting GIR with an easy birdie putt and then sometimes coming away with a bogey!
Very enjoyable! Nice swing. I’d be interested in knowing the club selections off the tee as well, he mentions some of the knock down wedges, etc. on the approach sots. Definitely going to watch more. I’m a 12, and the smooth swings, and not always perfect shots are interesting to watch. He’s got a good head for the game and even keeled attitude. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video-it means a lot. I’ll definitely try to include more details about club selections off the tee in future videos; that’s a great suggestion! I appreciate you mentioning the smooth swings and approach shots-it’s all about staying consistent and learning from the not-so-perfect ones, right? Sounds like you’ve got a solid game as a 12 yourself! Thanks again for watching and for the feedback-I hope you enjoy the next ones just as much! 🏌♂ Cheers,
No water hazards, no wind, perfect greens, broad fairways, few OOB , hardly any (high) rough….. everybody scores better on these sort of golf courses ….
I get it-this course looks pretty forgiving at first glance, but there were definitely a few spots with OOB and tree trouble lurking. Luckily, my course management was on point for once, so I stayed out of the danger zones. Wish it was always like that! 😂
You’ve got me there! Short irons are fun, but I’ll step up to the blues next time and give my long game a workout. 6,000 yards at 62? You’re my new role model! 💪😄
Well I will take that for sure and to be honest you are bang on really. I have struggled with the chipping yips for 2 years and just starting to get back in a better place, but still a long way to go
Funnily enough this is an improvement from 2 long years of chipping yips, it’s gradually improving more and more. Trust me I was delighted to actually be chipping a lot around the greens instead of using putter. Sounds crazy from a 2 handicap but those yips can happen to anyone
Thanks for the comment! The back tees weren’t out that day, so these were the only ones we could play from. Would’ve loved to take on the tips if they were an option! Always fun to test your game from the back, but also test your course management and decision making from the yellows
Correct, I had to play off the yellow tees as these were the only ones available. Still not a walk in the park though, requires better course management and club selection to make sure you don't get overtempted and into trouble
Yes pretty short but plays longer as you can't really hit driver on a lot of holes. Irons are the play unless you want to bring a bigger number into play. You can't always judge a course by the length anyway. Definitely not my best front 9, didn't really hole any chances but my back 9 was much improved. Out Wednesday if you are interested
Tough to really get an idea of what 2 handicap golf looks like when you’re playing some joke course with 300 yard par 4s hitting irons off tees. And the fake bird noises wtf dude
I get it, man-if I’m not grinding 500-yard par 4s with a driver and a prayer, it doesn’t count. Don’t worry, I’ll tell Riviera’s 10th and St. Andrews’ 12th to step up their game to…
Now play from the back tees!. You played that at about 6000 yds. I would never consider you a true 2 handicap playing from that length. Must be minimum 6500. I was a 2 at average 6700 yds. A REAL 2. A real 2 would molly wop you if they played from those tees.
Haha, fair point! But it’s less about no confidence and more about playing smart-I’m just trying to keep the ball in play. The driver will get its moment in the spotlight soon, I promise! 😅
Couldn't play form the back tees that day as these were the furthest I could go back otherwise I would always go from the back. It's different challenge for further forward though, makes you choose your club off the tee more wisely. There are some holes that are obviously reachable but if you are off line then you are binging a big number into play
Fair point, the greens aren’t crazy undulating, but those subtle slopes can mess with your head-and your scorecard-if you’re not paying attention. Short course doesn’t always mean easy!
It is a visualisation technique I use to help with picking out a target to aim at. I try to aim as small as possible so if I miss, theoretically it shouldn't be as bad a miss. Alignment is so so important and something I am always working on. If you look at a lot of my shots, my feet are aiming too far right and this is why I missed a lot to the right. Recently this is a fault I have found and am trying to correct and aiming before hand helps massively
@alexwhittlegolf you hit so straight just aim the middle and go. Not so bad really as a solo, i just get stuck behind slow play so much that I hate anything that reminds me of it! Tbh it's probably okay at your level but most do it then shank in a quad bogey lol
@@shearerforgold bro why you worried about slow play when you slice and dice your way around the course 😂 if you took 5 seconds to line up your shots you probs wouldn’t suck so bad 🤷♂️
awesome your putting is very toe heavy, you ever tried setting the club to the ball then your fet, and not feet then club makes a massive difference as youre not trying to force your body into a non relexing swing.
Thanks 🙏 yes a pro friend told noticed a while back that I acutely had my hand way too low and now I have overcompensated. Something I am now trying to find a medium and more neutral position. I will try setting the putter first before the feet tho 👍
Funny, because outside of youtube it's normally the opposite. My putting normally save me. Although, the back 9 is out next week and i putted very differently

Why do the low handycappers always seem to have trouble with the par 3's?
Because they normally play the hardest. If you have ever played a scramble it’s always the par 3s that are the hardest to birdie on average
Take note how the driver barely comes out of the bag
Look at the yardage of each hole. This was a short course from the tee boxes he chose to play. There was no need for the driver on several holes.

Hole no. 6 320yard drive ???
That’s right! Don’t normally average that distance but I hit a good one and the fairway was running a decent amount
What song is playing in the background?
For the first half of the video
what's the total yardtage?
Total yardage is 6337
what irons are those?
Mizuno JPX 921 Forged
as a ten I would be driving those par 4’s
You must be deadly with driver then and shocking at putting if you are off 10
@ i drive right around 301 yards
Oww big boi
@@alexwhittlegolf is that long?
It's the putting that makes your handicap good (well in my case it is) i usually hit GIR but guess what, i finish with a bogey or worse because i mostly 3-4 putt every hole. If i can 2 putt every hole, id be in single digit handicap by now. But nooooooooooo, i score a God damn 90 because of my damn putting.
I feel that! Normally, my putting is what saves me, but when it’s off, I’m in the same boat-hitting GIR with an easy birdie putt and then sometimes coming away with a bogey!
Guy leaves NO putts short, and makes all the comebacks of 4-6 FT!Thats huge to get your scores down
How did you not go under par with 470 yard par 5s
That was fun! next time maybee a little graphic showing yardage but yea so cool please do another subbed
Thanks for the comment and sub!! Will take feedback on board :)
Great video but the music and birds are DRIVING ME CRAZY
Thanks! Sorry about that, the back 9 is not as bad
@ no worries!! I love watching videos like this. Good job 👏
@ thanks 🙏 much appreciated, glad you liked it
Very enjoyable!
Cheers,
Y'all haters before commenting hatred in disguise of tips and lessons post your game score
Thanks :)
shoes information plz~
No water hazards, no wind, perfect greens, broad fairways, few OOB , hardly any (high) rough….. everybody scores better on these sort of golf courses ….
I get it-this course looks pretty forgiving at first glance, but there were definitely a few spots with OOB and tree trouble lurking. Luckily, my course management was on point for once, so I stayed out of the danger zones. Wish it was always like that! 😂
MAN YA SKIPPED LEG DAY
Thanks for your kind words 🙏
This kid needs to be playing from the blues, I’m 62 and play 6000 yds. Almost every hole his approach shot is a short iron. Too many short par 4’s
You’ve got me there! Short irons are fun, but I’ll step up to the blues next time and give my long game a workout. 6,000 yards at 62? You’re my new role model! 💪😄
@@alexwhittlegolfmy handicap is more like 14 for 18 holes.
Hmm… 🤔 not quite sure where you get that from but we are all entitled to our own opinions
I was about to same the same thing. HC should +2 once moving back a tee. It was a good watch, cheers 🎉
You could be a +1 or better based on the full swing. Something must be going sideways with your short or mental game
Well I will take that for sure and to be honest you are bang on really. I have struggled with the chipping yips for 2 years and just starting to get back in a better place, but still a long way to go
Short game needs some major improvement.
Funnily enough this is an improvement from 2 long years of chipping yips, it’s gradually improving more and more. Trust me I was delighted to actually be chipping a lot around the greens instead of using putter. Sounds crazy from a 2 handicap but those yips can happen to anyone
My handicap would be much lower if I played from senior tees as well, even whites. If you're in single digits play the tips or atleast blues lmao
Thanks for the comment! The back tees weren’t out that day, so these were the only ones we could play from. Would’ve loved to take on the tips if they were an option! Always fun to test your game from the back, but also test your course management and decision making from the yellows
Looks* like.
Good spot haha 🤣
Kinda short holes no?
Correct, I had to play off the yellow tees as these were the only ones available. Still not a walk in the park though, requires better course management and club selection to make sure you don't get overtempted and into trouble
That is a crazy short 9, 2869 yards and you were 3 over. Hopefully just a really really off day or I’d have to say you are not a legit 2 handicap.
Looks to me like you could shoot 3 or 4 under on a good iron day. Definitely on a great putting day. No doubt you can carry a 2.
Thanks for kind words! Just about putting it all together and staying disciplined to work on the fundamentals upward 🙌
Andrews’ 12th to step up their game to…
@@alexwhittlegolf serious question were you playing from the white tees?
It was from the yellows unfortunately as these were the furthest back available on the day
Short wide course
Only wide when you take the correct club, e.g. not driver
short course ladies tees? lol
Haha, not quite the ladies tees, but yes off the mens tees as the whites were out of use unfortunately. Still not a walk in the park though
2hc player 10hc video editing😂
Thanks for watching! Your feedback means a lot, and I’m always looking to improve my editing skills. Any ideas?
Now play from the back tees!. You played that at about 6000 yds. I would never consider you a true 2 handicap playing from that length. Must be minimum 6500. I was a 2 at average 6700 yds. A REAL 2. A real 2 would molly wop you if they played from those tees.
when you don’t use your driver, that screams no confidence bro
Haha, fair point! But it’s less about no confidence and more about playing smart-I’m just trying to keep the ball in play. The driver will get its moment in the spotlight soon, I promise! 😅
Seems like a short course , or he's playing wrong tee's for 2 handicap....
Couldn't play form the back tees that day as these were the furthest I could go back otherwise I would always go from the back. It's different challenge for further forward though, makes you choose your club off the tee more wisely. There are some holes that are obviously reachable but if you are off line then you are binging a big number into play
Very short course with flat greens, everyone could play well there
Fair point, the greens aren’t crazy undulating, but those subtle slopes can mess with your head-and your scorecard-if you’re not paying attention. Short course doesn’t always mean easy!
Thats some serious poor putting..
Not the best, but certainly not the worst I have putted
You have good mechanics, but need to play a real course.
Thanks, still a lot of work to do over the winter months. Not quite sure how it’s not a proper golf course, but we are all entitled to our opinions 👍
I always hate all that line up stuff at the start then to literally just hit staight down the middle.. you would get the same shot without it..
Your so wrong if you look at every pro they do it for a reason it’s good to pick a target even if it’s a big fairway.
@Braxyu pros do it so let's all just copy...
@@shearerforgold bro why you worried about slow play when you slice and dice your way around the course 😂 if you took 5 seconds to line up your shots you probs wouldn’t suck so bad 🤷♂️
What a terrible golf course looks like.
awesome your putting is very toe heavy, you ever tried setting the club to the ball then your fet, and not feet then club makes a massive difference as youre not trying to force your body into a non relexing swing.
Thanks 🙏 yes a pro friend told noticed a while back that I acutely had my hand way too low and now I have overcompensated. Something I am now trying to find a medium and more neutral position. I will try setting the putter first before the feet tho 👍
you are good at striking, but can be much better at putting.
Funny, because outside of youtube it's normally the opposite. My putting normally save me. Although, the back 9 is out next week and i putted very differently
