I started playing not too long ago and only just played my 3rd game ever this weekend... shortly after finding your channel & watching some videos after this one. I hadn't broken 100 in my first 2 games. I shot an 87 yesterday! I am new & I'm not great at golf - but watching your videos is so helpful about how to think when out on the course. @GolfPsychologist I'm a beginner. I hit PW 105-115 and those distances get bigger until 160-170 yards for my 6 iron.... once my hybrid or any longer club is in my hand the distances come back down.... occasionally I'll rip a driver 260 dead straight but I'd say that happens 1 in 100 attempts... I don't even try to use the damn thing now, I tee up with a hybrid and hope for the best 🤣
Wrong! Shorter clubs are easy to hit solid and straight. The shorter shafts and higher loft are very forgiving. Longer clubs are not so forgiving no matter how short your swing. Also if your swing is very short you may hit your driver the same as a 7-iron.
It's mainly the higher spin being more forgiving. The longer clubs can be forgiving but they won't be as long as people want them to be. However if I don't need that far and I need more accuracy then they don't need to be very long. So if my driver's only going 200 yards max but it's going dead straight every time because I'm swinging slow. That player is going to score better than the person that is swinging hard and fast hoping again distance but loses the golf ball multiple times per round

Great video! Total reset of the mind! I’ve got the game but can’t break 90……….I’ll give this a go for the next few games, at least it’ll calm my game and temperament down!! 😂
Golf is overrun with psychologists making money from gullible club players.
I know of at least 1. Which is probably already 1 more than needed
It's like every word he says sounds like he thinks it's completely obvious and I'm an idiot
@@wangouthangout you know what. That's a fair critique
Sorry, I don’t get the point of this.
@@apopisso6302 how so? Lemme see if I can clear up some confusion
This doesn’t work for everybody haha
Which part doesn't work would you say?
@@GolfPsychologistI have been golfing over 30 years at has nothing to do with your distance
I know easily over 40 guys who can’t break 90 lol
you seemed to be saying if you can hit a 100 yard shot straight then you can hit a 150 yard shot straight but that isn’t remotely true.
Why do you say that
@@GolfPsychologist dispersion from a 150 yard shot is higher than a 100 yard shot especially for a high handicapper.
@@adrianbauze1864 correct. But when I say straight I don't mean literally dead straight. I mean forward and not losing the ball, not hitting it all over the place straight. Dispersion is always going to get worse the longer the club. But most people can probably also get better contact and hit the ball forward more consistently if they have smoother lighter swings and club up
@@GolfPsychologist agreed thanks
@@adrianbauze1864 of course! I think your question probably helped a lot of people that were also wondering the same thing
