I absolutely adore these like, genuine talks about things with cut-ins of Alex just being a chaotic shitposter, its absolutely top of the line
This is why kirby, even with its simplistic design, is the hardest character to develop in smash bros.
I definitely love Brawl’s addition of the mugshot because it’s a lot easier to tell what mode you’re playing. In Melee you can’t tell if you’re playing a time match or if both players were on one stock. In Brawl, you now have the “gradient ellipses of vitality” (name I made up 2 seconds ago) to represent stocks. Now you can tell you were playing a 1 stock match like a fucking psychopath.

Both robin and Kazuya also have UI related changes, Robin displays the charges left, and Kazuya turns his nametag red ( and starts pulsating your controller)

4:57 Alax knows how to write running jokes and references PERFECTLY. Literally took until my second viewing to realize this is a reference to his 2018 E3 video, but just saying it wasn’t enough. He added ANOTHER joke on top of it to make it fresh. Now that’s comedy writing.

It still boggles me that they bothered to add a gauge on R.O.B.'s chassis to show how much fuel he has left for his Up B, but not also have it be visible on his damage meter.
You pretty much have a feel for it when you play ROB, it's not really an issue

I love trying to guess what the joke for Alax entering the room is gonna be, and I never get it, one day I'll guess "teleport in" and I'll be right.
I guess i understand one of your points, that being the inconsistency brought with new character mechanics, but I feel like that inconsistency helps the characters be even more unique, and adds fun and excitement to get to know how they work and figure out how to "master" the character. I do hope for the next smash maybe they introduce a universal UI mechanic so that characters can have access to even more varied moves

A next Smash Bros really need to reimagine every character that is included. I still think smash and tilt should be two separate buttons, which allows guaranteed inputs but also one new attack: neutral smash. The inputs need some rework too, such as option for dedicated short and full jump if you want, and grab not being just shield+attack since that causes some issues already.

The thing I loved the most about For 3DS was that the UI was on the lower screen. The Upper screen looked so clean
I keep an eye on the opponent’s damage and my own so I know what kind of strategies can work throughout the match. Having UI parts like meters close to the numbers makes it easy to keep track of things

Instead of the 7 emeralds sonic could have the boost meter, I imagined that after up-b instead of doing nothing with specials you can do tricks with the special button like sonic rush.

I want the next Smash game to just throw all convention out the window. Let the player rearrange the ENTIRE fighter select screen, and even have the character tiles remember the last used alt colors. Then include built-in menu layouts (ultimate style, smash 4 style, etc.). People would spend hours doing that, like RE4's inventory. You could even make tier lists in-game
Speaking of throwing out all conventions, l really wanted smashUltimate to have an option in the Controls called "Switch", and when you hold that button your controls get switched to your secondary control scheme. Like, l use TiltStick normally, but then l could make it so that when l hold ZR my right joystick is now set to smash-stick. Sure it's kinda niche, but it'd also be fully optional so no harm no foul :]
@@Sponsie1000 Like a feature that can switch your primary and secondary controls at any time? Sounds niche at first, but it actually does sound useful the more I think about it. Like it could make all those situational techs way more practical. Or help beginners close the gap with experienced players if they take the time to learn how it works
@@gamejitzu Yeah, l'm envisioning like just how you can set your buttons to do Shield/Jump/Attack etcc one of those options would be Switch, and holding a Switch-button would swap your controls to your secondary control-scheme and vice versa.
l think casuals probably wont have any use for that since it's probably too overwhelming, but it could be cool for situational techs that require certain alternate control-schemes yeah, that way you can have your regular controls for 99% of the time and have your more niche/specific controls for the few moments you need them. And l'd just like to swap from tilt-stick to smash-stick whenever l happen to break a shield lmao

you know, this is one of the things that i don't realize when playing, i mean the UI serves to show you what is happening but i didn't realize that it never gives you specific information (or that makes sense)

I know characters need the UI as that delimits their fighting style (like Inkling for example as you need to take in mind your ink meter) but... so it is for Olimar? Instead of an icon to represent the pikmin you'll use for the next move, you only get a tiny arrow over the selected pikmin, arrow which you won't notice unless you're standing still.
It's also frustrating because the pikmin games' hud easily indicate what type of pikmin you have selected
