It's weird they called it "Project Triangle Strategy" first, because the title was tentative. Especially when they did the exact same thing with Octopath Traveler too, so why bother in the first place?
As someone was played the game, the name actually makes sense, since the concept of three of something constantly shows up in the game. Three nations, three ideologies, three (main) side characters, three resources each nation specializes in, the central river of the world having three branches, having three choices every time the main story branches out, and course, three main endings corresponding with each ideology.
@@Mimi.1001A lot of people were talking about the game with that name and since most people were getting used to it they thought that for marketing reasons it would've been better to keep it as "Triangle Strategy".
ITS NOT EVEN A DIRECTORS CUT, THE DIRECTOR WASN'T INVOLVED WITH THE DX PORT OMG AS A SONIC FAN I WANT TO... UURRRGH IT SHOULD HAVE JUST BEEN DX HOLY CRAP
@@raunakgujralsongs9135 I know, but neither was the actual director involved here, nor can you really change ("cut") scenes for a game like you can for a movie. I suppose in some cases you can restore some unused stuff, modify the level design or cutscenes, but then you have to ask why those changes weren't in the original release version, but somehow in this re-release. For movies time constraints are more common, like it would be too long for a theatrical audience or whatever, thus validating a director's cut.
Ever heard of the cutting room floor? Just like in movies they are reason of cutting content, story beats or even characters in games as or more often than movies. Publishers demands to release it at a certain time so they can't fit ideas or concept perfectly to make sacrifices, the usual. And yes, a Game Director exist, which a Director's cut does make sense for games too... As long as its not done as a marketing ploy which most of the time it is. this was an awesome video!! the title stuff was so funny, and i enjoyed the editing a lot. also awesome section on how much cooler Japanese games sound in Japanese. Like Fire Emblem Three Houses' Japanese title has a really complex idiom and shin megami tensei sounds metal af in Japanese

6:11 First of all, thank you for yet another wave of 2000's nostalgia this 1999 baby won't be rid of for at least a week. 😭 Also 6:18 that made me burst out laughing. Not ashamed to admit.
I mean for Xenoblade, Persona and Fire Emblem, how CAN you title them in a way that they could in 2+ words convey their gameplay idea? JRPGs, all RPGS, are kinda defined by focusing on story and variety more than some unique gameplay idea. And they still work IMO. Xenoblade Chronicles - main guy's weapon, on the cover, biggest gameplay element, it's an RPG so we be chronicling the journey Fire Emblem - Fires of war, emblems and symbols of nobility. Kinda works... Persona - main gameplay gimmick, main story conceit, usually also on the cover. Plus, it even explains the main theme of the series too, masks and social life etc.

I can't believe you didn't mention "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition" Perhaps not the longest, but it's nigh impossible to shorten. The smallest syllable count I was able to reach was 5.

I was pleasantly surprised when I paused the video to read the newspaper and instead of some lorem ipsum nonsense filler, it was several honest-to-goodness paragraphs that were discussing the topic of "Mario VS Climate Change" as well as Donkey Kong's new game. All that for a joke that lasted about 5 seconds. Got to respect the quality!
For me, the worst titles are the ones which are referred to in an abbreviated form more often than the full title. Of these, I think the worst is probably "Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors". Not only is it a long and unwieldy title, but the common abbreviation is "999", which tells me absolutely nothing about the game. And on top of all that, [SPOILERS] EVERY PART OF THAT TITLE IS A LIE TO BEGIN WITH!!!!

I'm not experienced enough to know why it's not supposed to be "Ghostly Ghostly Dream".) 東方文花帖 ~ Shoot the Bullet Touhou Bunkachou ~ Shoot the Bullet Eastern Word Flower Album ~ Shoot the Bullet 東方緋想天 ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody Touhou Hisouten ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody Eastern Scarlet Perception Heaven ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody 東方非想天則 ~ 超弩級ギニョルの謎を追え Touhou Hisoutensoku ~ Choudokyuu Ginyoru no Nazo o Oe Eastern Unperceiving of Natural Law ~ Chase the Enigma of the Gargantuan Guignol (You may notice that this one is entirely in Japanese. Also that the main title is similar to Hisouten above - except that the kanji for hi is different. And no, I have no idea what a Guignol is.) ダブルスポイラー ~ 東方文花帖 Double Spoiler ~ Touhou Bunkachou Double Spoiler ~ Eastern Word Flower Album (Yes, this time the title is in English and the subtitle in Japanese - or rather, the title is in English, _in katakana._ Also, the subtitle is the same as the Japanese title of Shoot the Bullet, above.) 妖精大戦争 ~ 東方三月精 Yousei Daisensou ~ Touhou Sangetsusei Great Fairy Wars ~ Eastern Three Fairies 弾幕アマノジャク ~ Impossible Spell Card Danmaku Amanojaku ~ Impossible Spell Card (This one doesn't quite translate. "Danmaku" is technically the name of the genre that the game - and most games in the series, in fact - belongs to. It literally means "bullet curtain" and is what "bullet hell" type shmups are called in Japan. Also, the term is often used in-universe to refer to the magic bullets that the characters are able to create from thin air. Amanojaku, on the other hand, is a species of yōkai that this game's main character belongs to.) 秘封ナイトメアダイアリー ~ Violet Detector Hijuu Nightmare Diary ~ Violet Detector Secret Sealing Nightmare Diary ~ Violet Detector 東方剛欲異聞 ~ 水没した沈愁地獄 Touhou Gouyoku Ibun ~ Suibotsu shita Chinshuu Jigoku Eastern Strange Tale of Avarice ~ Submerged Hell of Sunken Sorrow (Strangely, this is the only installment in the series that also has a wholly different official English title: Touhou Gouyoku Ibun ~ Sunken Fossil World.) バレットフィリア達の闇市場 ~ 100th Black Market Bulletphilia-tachi no Yami-Ichiba ~ 100th Black Market Bulletphiles' Black Market ~ 100th Black Market

It was supposed to be a placeholder title until they couldn’t think of anything else and kept it
@@kwisowofer9872same happened with Octopath Traveler, but that one isn't nearly as bad
Ah yes. The classic for 3DS / Wii U N64 DS ver. Ultimate Deluxe tropical freeze panic world 5 1/2 Plus mode vs Mario!
& Knuckles featuring Dante from Dvil May Cry
11:10 i like how this goes from reading a game's name to a lin manuel miranda parody
"Featuring Dante from the devil may cry series and knuckles plus r rev 2 combat evolved rising 3d ultra special delux ultimate edition"
I'm curious about how well PVZ did in the timeline where they named it "Grave-Yard"
ITS NOT EVEN A DIRECTORS CUT, THE DIRECTOR WASN'T INVOLVED WITH THE DX PORT OMG AS A SONIC FAN I WANT TO... UURRRGH
IT SHOULD HAVE JUST BEEN DX HOLY CRAP
What does Director's Cut even mean for a game? It ain't a movie, you usually wouldn't want something to be cut from the original, do you?
They called it a director's cut because the director has been cut 😅
@@Mimi.1001director's cut means The original vision of the director
Tho sometimes in other countries in Japan its called Final Mix, which change gameplay balances, added unfinished content or even new ones to improve the game to its best possible version.@@Mimi.1001
Can't forget the classic title I'm In Love With Your Dead Grandmother Presents: Noah Smalljohnson's Puzzle Game
Good time for this to appear while I'm currently playing an open beta called, in full: Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road - Worldwide Beta Test Demo "Leave Your Inazuma Mark on the World!"
Super Mario Combats Climate Change is probably one of my favorite games to this day.
Ikr the cop 21 level is so good
I prefer Super Mario Proves The Earth Is Round, personally.
@@FriskDrinksBriskHaha would that be Odyssey or Galaxy?
@@TyGuy2462 I had Galaxy in mind, but it could be either one ;3
There are three games with the initials SMB:
Super Mario Bros, Super Monkey Ball, and Super Meat Boy
Shin Megami 🅱️ensei
Alax has conditioned me to laugh whenever that stupid minecart clip shows up
Which one?
Nvm i just remembered.
Surprised Alax didn't mention my arch nemesis
"Yakuza: Like a Dragon Gaiden, The man who erased his name"
11:15 really came out here with the fuckin' Hamilton bars, Lin Manuel Miranda is pissing himself in fear rn
The longest title song bit is kinda a bop actually
this was an awesome video!! the title stuff was so funny, and i enjoyed the editing a lot.
also awesome section on how much cooler Japanese games sound in Japanese. Like Fire Emblem Three Houses' Japanese title has a really complex idiom and shin megami tensei sounds metal af in Japanese
Fans generally just put the japanese title as "four seasons" because that sh*t sounds cool in japanese, but it really cannot be translated without sounding weird as heck.
Fire emblem: snow, flower, moon, wind...
I prefer when they are called "goddess of dawn/red moon" or something like that.
What’s the idiom for three houses?
Is kinda hit or miss because sometimes they just try be obnoxiously simbolic or plain edgy.
6:49 *_"It Takes Two... two what?"_*
Two playable characters.
They're both literally just standing there, in the tittle.
Exactly. This video is so dumb 💀💀💀
"The legend of Zelda" "what's the legend" play the game lol
I think he's saying "to what?" he knows there's two, but it gives you no indication of what it takes two to do.
You realize that was a joke, right?
Why yes, they are standing right there, on the disconnected dot of a lowercase i
for a moment i was really confused when i saw you saying circlespace instead of squarespace like i actually thought that meant something
5:15
[Insert that one cereal stickman meme]
He will not include a rhythm heaven reference in here
If "Disco Elysium" doesn't make sense to you after playing the game, you might need to play it again, because they do *literally explain* the meaning of that phrase within the game XD
9:12 this luigi pic killed me
Guilty Gear players know bad titles better than anyone else. I'm still trying to figure out what number an Xrd is
This is my Favorite Relax Alax video purely because it mentions YIIK for half a second
6:11 First of all, thank you for yet another wave of 2000's nostalgia this 1999 baby won't be rid of for at least a week. 😭
Also 6:18 that made me burst out laughing. Not ashamed to admit.
0:53 Losing it? I don’t think he even HAD it!
9:11
I feel like I need to take a long stiff drink not from having seen it, but from having noticed it _immediately._
I don't know why it just struck me that Alax's style is very classic JonTron-core and honestly I've been wishing for more of that lately
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R
wait till bro hears about Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R
Guilty gear Xrd Revelations aint the best either (the fuck do they mean by Xrd)
I love the running joke of donkey kong in the Minecart falling being a reoccurring theme in every video
I mean for Xenoblade, Persona and Fire Emblem, how CAN you title them in a way that they could in 2+ words convey their gameplay idea? JRPGs, all RPGS, are kinda defined by focusing on story and variety more than some unique gameplay idea. And they still work IMO.
Xenoblade Chronicles - main guy's weapon, on the cover, biggest gameplay element, it's an RPG so we be chronicling the journey
Fire Emblem - Fires of war, emblems and symbols of nobility. Kinda works...
Persona - main gameplay gimmick, main story conceit, usually also on the cover. Plus, it even explains the main theme of the series too, masks and social life etc.
You know I thought this was going to be a retread kind of like how the Smash 4 menu was redone in a new version of his old video, but I love the ending segment of this video alone to make it stand out
11:30 that’s not a game, it sounds like a crappy novel about someone going to 2 high schools in Japan with nothing interesting happening except them bumping in to their old friend, then they both move on
Edit: 11:44 that’s a porn magazine
I'm pretty sure it's actually an adaption of a light novel.
Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates it!
6:06 cool dk sound effect
I can't believe you didn't mention "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition"
Perhaps not the longest, but it's nigh impossible to shorten.
The smallest syllable count I was able to reach was 5.
The Scott Pilgrim game
@@KaitouKaiju 5 syllables!
I swear man these videos always go by so fast. just goes to show how well made they are.
It's been awhile and honestly this entire video can just be combined with Kingdom hearts
Kingdom Hearts titles make sense in context, though.
Fun fact, final fantasy was actually going to be called fighting fantasy first
As a Melty Blood player, I can confirm that the titles may be confusing, but it's part of the charm. Same goes with Under Night In-Birth, who probably has it WORSE.
WTF IS A SYS:CELES
Wouldn’t street fighter be up there too bc of the sub titles their games have like SF2 championship edition, world warrior, super turbo and etc.
@@Laggggin Something like "Championship Edition" makes WAY more sense than "Exe:Late [cl-r]."
Undernight is aiming for that "Edgy Anime Bullshit" aesthetic and we appreciate it for it.
@@Magnet_Chaos Yeah, you get it! 🤝
5:34 "Sooonic annnnd sega alllll starrrssss raaacing!..Transformed!!"
Im sorry this guy is quite literally scott the woz with a different voice
It turned into Hamilton two thirds of the way though oh my god yea
The "OHHHH" for Mario 64 was super funny
The end bit reminded me of the peanut bar bit from community
12:01 Yeah his old comment a while back of just being a "professional shitposter" still rings true *and I'm here for it*
alax's favorite clip of any game ever is donkey kong in a minecart falling off the rails
0:07 I T ‘ S M A R C H 31ST-
MILK REFERENCED YEAHH! what the FVK is MENTAL WELLNESS
1:22 oh were back to this are we? 🤣🤣
And on top of all that, [SPOILERS]
EVERY PART OF THAT TITLE IS A LIE TO BEGIN WITH!!!!
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door is the first that came to my mind. TTYD is just so much faster to type
I feel like you’ve made a video about this topic 3 times already, and i love every single one of them lmao
I remember being told that "Final Fantasy" was the crew's second choice after "Fighting Fantasy" which was already taken...
The random DK screaming never fails to make me crack up
ok i thought Kingdom Hearts birth by sleep 0.2 final chapter prologue was a long title
then this japanese visual novel comes up here and literally unloads this mess that people MEME about with light novel titles.
Triforce of the Gods is such a badass title; why did they change it to Link to the Past in English?
because nintendo of America at the time said no references to religion
The rap at the end was legendary. You should make an extended version into a video, with a full few verses and a chorus. I would jam to it
YES!!! A sequel to two of my favorite videos of yours!!! This just made my Easter this year even better! 🎉🎊🎉/g
12:05 when alax is passionate. I really want to name that ChillaxAlax maybe even works as an alter ego
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner 2 Raidou Kuzunoha vs King Abaddon is my favourite overcomplicated videogame name alongside Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep a fragmentary passage
Your point at 6:40 makes me think of Perfect Dark - how they came up with the title? Rare just combined words that "sounded cool" and that's the combination they came up with! 😂
6:12 as someone who has been watching your content since forever this is your first modern joke to actually make me laugh
One of the best videos ever. That ending was pure pure pure gold!
I like how Touhou games have a Japanese title and an elaborate English subtitle for maximum nonsense. Some of my favourites:
東方夢時空 ~ The Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream
Touhou Yumekijuu ~ The Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream
Eastern Dream Spacetime ~ The Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream
東方紅魔郷 ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
Touhou Koumakyou ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
Eastern Scarlet Devil Land ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
(Yes, if you translate the Japanese, you get "Scarlet Devil" twice.)
東方妖々夢 ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom
Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom
Eastern Ghostly Dream ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom
(Note that in Japanese, the rare character 々 indicates that the preceding kanji is to be read twice. I'm not experienced enough to know why it's not supposed to be "Ghostly Ghostly Dream".)
東方文花帖 ~ Shoot the Bullet
Touhou Bunkachou ~ Shoot the Bullet
Eastern Word Flower Album ~ Shoot the Bullet
東方緋想天 ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
Touhou Hisouten ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
Eastern Scarlet Perception Heaven ~ Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
東方非想天則 ~ 超弩級ギニョルの謎を追え
Touhou Hisoutensoku ~ Choudokyuu Ginyoru no Nazo o Oe
Eastern Unperceiving of Natural Law ~ Chase the Enigma of the Gargantuan Guignol
(You may notice that this one is entirely in Japanese. Also that the main title is similar to Hisouten above - except that the kanji for hi is different. And no, I have no idea what a Guignol is.)
ダブルスポイラー ~ 東方文花帖
Double Spoiler ~ Touhou Bunkachou
Double Spoiler ~ Eastern Word Flower Album
(Yes, this time the title is in English and the subtitle in Japanese - or rather, the title is in English, _in katakana._ Also, the subtitle is the same as the Japanese title of Shoot the Bullet, above.)
妖精大戦争 ~ 東方三月精
Yousei Daisensou ~ Touhou Sangetsusei
Great Fairy Wars ~ Eastern Three Fairies
弾幕アマノジャク ~ Impossible Spell Card
Danmaku Amanojaku ~ Impossible Spell Card
(This one doesn't quite translate. Amanojaku, on the other hand, is a species of yōkai that this game's main character belongs to.)
秘封ナイトメアダイアリー ~ Violet Detector
Hijuu Nightmare Diary ~ Violet Detector
Secret Sealing Nightmare Diary ~ Violet Detector
東方剛欲異聞 ~ 水没した沈愁地獄
Touhou Gouyoku Ibun ~ Suibotsu shita Chinshuu Jigoku
Eastern Strange Tale of Avarice ~ Submerged Hell of Sunken Sorrow
(Strangely, this is the only installment in the series that also has a wholly different official English title: Touhou Gouyoku Ibun ~ Sunken Fossil World.)
バレットフィリア達の闇市場 ~ 100th Black Market
Bulletphilia-tachi no Yami-Ichiba ~ 100th Black Market
Bulletphiles' Black Market ~ 100th Black Market
The World Ends With You mentioned!!
