Mistral MISTAKE forced FREEDIVE to retrieve IPHONE

- Mistral mania in mosquito central. The Mediterranean Camargue Rhône delta ports store thousands of sailboats. We are finishing tasks to sail again but a big mistake delays our sailing eastwards to Italy. Task list gets longer. Will we ever get out of this mistral ridden, mosquito infested mooring?
S2Ep5: The video reflects boat maintenance, sailing preparation challenges and how the unexpected always happens. Jonathan is not a freediver, but dives deeper than he has ever dived before without SCUBA.

Thanks! It wasn’t great when I lost the phone though 😳
Glad you’re still with us 👍 and thanks for watching 😀
Regarding sketchy internet...Starlink is fantastic! It's a bit spendy but fast and dependable and you can pause service when away from the boat.
I have heard good things about Mr. Musks' satellite sky trains and see them pass over our house occasionally. For me the cost still outweighs the benefit, so we're spending on a new sail instead :) If our numbers come in - then just maybe . . .
When are you back in Europe?
@@sailingoptions leaving Vancouver in 10 days. Can't wait!
Your boatyard video blew the roof! Wowzer! V had heaps of snow in False Creek this year! Our cousin has a boat there. Have a safe flight over. Looking forward to finding out where you take FBG next 👍
@@sailingoptions Yeah...go figure!? The way that one blew-up took us by surprise too. The boat returns to the yard as soon as we get back for re-repairs. We will be heading to Belgium after she's fixed and we already have a slip reserved in beautiful, beautiful Bruges. Our Vancouver apartment is just around the bay from False Creek; we did indeed get snow but as usual, it went away pretty quick.
put the phone in fresh water for a night and then in a bag of very dry rice for a week or more. It might dry it out enough to work again. I have rescued phones this way before.
Yes, that's good advice! I did all of that, but the phone had been down at nearly 5m deep for about 14 hours, and it wasn't the latest Iphone model which claim improved watertightness - but it provided all the things I needed until that unexpected dunking! Hey ho! Thanks for watching Hillary - hope you're looking forward to spring and summer, we are 👍

@@sailingoptions Hi well it was worth a thought. I hope that you have a great summer. I am still hoping to do the same trip as yourselves but I might need to stick to the deeper canals as I have a draught of 1.52 metres and no lifting keel. Also the 90 day in 180 is a real challenge for the trip I want to take and so I am looking into using the concept of “innocent passage” as set out in international maritime law. I will probably end up in the Bastille. But thank you so much for these videos. They are really good and you both come over as lovely natural people.
Have you considered the 6 month visa we used?
