- The Civic Hybrid is making a big return to Honda's lineup. On the outside of the sport touring you will discover 18in wheels, revised front fascia and sunroof. On the inside you will greeted by a 2-tone interior, 9in infotainment screen size. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 paired to Honda's new hrbrid system. Is the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid a BETTER new car to BUY than a Toyota Prius?

Went to a dealer today to test drive. Salesman said Honda doesn’t make civic hybrids. I laughed and walked out lol
where? what dealership location?
SalesHOLE.
Yep, this happened to me as well when I asked for the new Prius at Toyota dealer. Some representatives don't really care and just want to force sale you whatever they have in stock (with ridiculous markup, of course).
I would've asked for the sales manager and had that salesman fired. He's costing the owner of that dealership thousands of dollars in sales revenue including the cost of your sale!
That’s hilarious
This is the first time where I actually want and need a hybrid car. Great performance and fuel economy.
Both the Civic Hybrid and Corolla Hybrid can get 50+ mpg's, but the Civic does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, while the Corolla Hybrid takes 9.0 seconds. By the time the Corolla hits 60, the Civic is over 14 car lengths ahead.
Corolla actually has more MPGs than the Civic
Civic doesn’t get 50 mpg. Making stuff up again.
@@BB2001hjk Correct and only the bottom trim Corolla gets 50 as well. But they're all within 2 mph so we'll let them both round up or neither. You've got anything you make up the gap in acceleration?
corolla are claustrophobic, civics have alot more cabin space
Ok now do the Camry which has AWD, heated steering wheel and a spare tire for the same price. 😂
Raiti's blood pressure absolutely SPIKED when he dropped that atomic zonk!!😂😂😂 but i understand though. plus, a $32k hybrid with no spare? that's my atomic zonk because that is ridiculous!!!
The crazy part about it though is the touring in 2024 at least got some USB ports in the back then they take it away
I've never had a flat tire in my life
@@chkndnts I did last month. it stinks!
I think that’s a winner for Honda…….with Hybrid power and mpg’s
Overpriced........
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 no it's not! it's a freaking hybrid for gods sake. its cheap for a hybrid

When you have to go compact, this is a really nice choice. Honda is always a good decision.
The insight finally came back the way it's supposed to: As a Civic Hybrid.
My son’s 2019 Insight has averaged 47mpg since new. It now has 70k miles. It’s major problem is addressed in this new model which is power.
insight has like 107 hp
@@timcornett2569 My 2018 Accord Hybrid has averaged 48.5 mpg, with 88K miles. And more power.
@@mrnarason The insight had 157 HP. The engine had only 107, and the battery supplied the rest.
I remember driving an early 80s Civic as a loaner car. Total econobox. If you had a time machine and took this back to then, people would be asking you if all expensive luxury cars were like this in the future!
Someone recently got 93 miles per gallon in his Prius. Drag plays a big role in fuel efficiency, so with that in mind, I'd pick the Prius.
This is a homerun/slamdunk for Honda. Perfect timing for a Civic hybrid, and it has Si power + efficiency + no turbo.
Nice , Toyota has these 195 width -7” tires which are a big factor . Honda uses 235 inch and everyone knows whats the best handling car
I am confused because the 2024 had rear usb and the 2021 had rear heated seats. We’re evolving, but backwards!
More like cost-cutting where you can. You can always buy multiple ports car charger and longer cables that your passengers in the back can charge their phones with. I would prefer the vents and heated seats to be available for the backseats than usb ports.
honda is overpriced
@kikomanster8188 you want rear vents AND ventilated seats for same price? K4 GT line turbo is your friend
I think this is a US model. Canadian models still get the usb and heated seats as far as I’m aware. I am actually gonna double check that but I’m 80% sure that’s the case.
Update: yeah the Canadian version has heated sets. Tho I’m still uncertain about USB ports. However it does state the ones in the front do I’m probably gonna say no for rare usb for now.

Can we get the Honda civic hatchback video next?
I see a civic vid, i click!!! Looking forward to seeing more of the hatchback soon.
The new Prius is pretty cool, but if I was to get 1 between them, I would take the civic
Sounds like a plan to me!
The Prius has some of the same visibility and ergonomic issues it's had since the 2nd Gen. Hope the Civic is better. Drove a Prius for 1.5 hours last month and as much as I wanted to like it, I didn't.
I like how harshly the civic is critiqued now. Since it is wayyy more expensive than a corolla its in a much higher class.
Honda is always more expensive than toyota..
It's unfortunate because the corolla would actually be a good deal in comparison if it wasn't the lamest car of all time lol
Meteor Gray, that’s a cool color name
I agree with yii
Will be purchasing one in black. Crazy MPG!
I’m pretty sure Mazda also has a meteor gray color too
And no, I don’t expect a panoramic sunroof! This is a Honda Civic! It’s an economy car!
i do for 30k
Loving the Honda Civic Hybrid & even though it's competing with the Toyota Corolla but not with a Genesis or a BMW. I would have liked the backup camera to be 10 times clear like on a Genesis g80 or a Mercedes-Benz s-class.
Finally, the Civic Hybrid returns! I had one in the 2000s and loved it. Currently drive a 23 Accord hybrid and love it, too.
Just got a 2025 Civic LX gas-only - 2.0L non-turbo engine. On the eco mode and driving nicely/all highway getting 47.3mpg.
Best compact for MPG and drivetrain, but the cost cutting for he touring trim is egregious. No fog lights, poor back up camera, no lumbar support, no ventilated seats, no heated seats for passengers, no panoramic sunroof, no rear USB, no rear vents, no spare tire. Whereas civics outside the US has a lot of these features, not sure why the US gets cheaped out but increased cost. Would like this compared to the 2025 camry LE.
I suspect Honda USA wants to push higher income customers to Acura
I’m really impressed with the powertrain. Honda is getting the power of a small displacement six cylinder out of a 2.0L four cylinder.
No rear air vents, rear charging or spare is a deal killer for me.
Would've loved this 3 years ago.
This civic would've looked great with a coupe option
I definitely miss that body style
I swear I just bought an Outback Wilderness a couple of weeks ago and yet I’m still watching Joe Review cars as if I’m still looking for a new car to buy. That’s how you know Joe’s Content is that good.

Also drove in a new Ford Escape recently. Still haven't riden in a small Suv that can top it. Power delivery and steering and dampening feel was absolutely the most balanced.
Amazing review Joe and I really like this car.
4:50 If you really wanted to, you could replace those old bulbs with LED ones. That's probably what I'd do haha because it kind of erks me that the front and the rear signals won't flash the same. Plus I think the crisp flashing is cool with LEDs
Great review Joe. I don’t think you’ve ever done a bad one. Waiting to see a hatch hybrid. Love those rims, wish I had them on my 24 hatch. Love the gray seats. Agree totally on the rear turn signals; for 32k they better be led. There sure should be rear vents and connectivity too. Mileage is impressive but I recently took my ‘24 EX-L on a day trip and got 47.7 mpg. I took it on a long road trip a few months ago and got 42.3. The Civic hybrid is sure better than the Corolla hybrid for sure.
I’ll take this over the prius
I’ll take anything over the Prius lol

No rear ac vents is a deal breaker for like 18 states. Lame.
So many compact cars don’t have them anymore. Really disappointing
The air has to travel so far to get to the back, right? FYI there are vents underneath the front seats so i think you would survive the horror...

The current Civic looks great and the interior apart from the atomic zonk is very decent, For me the top trim in 2025 models should include an option for ventilated front seats to be added at least .. No mention either of the crazy dealer markups which I found looking for a Corolla hybrid recently and gave up even getting close to MSrp..
I’m sad about the incandescent rear turn signals, other than that it’s a pretty sweet ride! I would actually buy one
You’ve earned a like and sub from me sir, for calling out Honda on the low res reverse camera and lack of rear AC vents. I like the civic over the accord and it’s a shame Honda tried to segment the two by taking away rear AC vents from the Civic. Civics in other regions have AC vents already !
a civic wagon would be perfect for me

@JogBird Same.
Would unfortunately not sell well
@@RaitisRidesI disagree with that, I would rather get a wagon verse a sedan and I’m looking hard at this and the k4
I think price wise, the corolla hybrid is simply more competitive. But if you prefer the features and looks of the civic, then it may be worth it to spend the extra money.
The problem with hybrids is that is makes it harder for you to work on your own car due to all the technology it has
Most definitely
Don’t need a pano sunroof in AZ. Moon roof works.
The 2022 backup camera looks better! wow Do you know what the Governor limit of the 2022 Hatchback Sport Touring is? I'm reading different numbers, This one being 114MPH seems less.
the charge gauge acts like a tach. moves as you increase, and at 100 "changes gears"
honda website makes it seem like on the hatch, the paddle's do change gears.. so maybe in sport mode, but others it does regen? again, on hatch.
I like it a lot (except for those incandescent turn signal bulbs) but at the price point, a lower trim 2025 Toyota Camry just makes more sense.
Very fast too for a compact sedan, both the Corolla and the Elantra hybrid are very slow in comparison. I hope the Civic Si gets a refresh with this or an even more powerful setup soon.
I think my pre-owned 2020 Hyundai Ioniq PHEV Limited Trim is a hidden gem as compared to this Civic Hybrid...for a lot less money
We need that 2025 civic si review sir 🔥
Waiting for the hatch.
So what's going to happen to the Civic Si now that the new hybrid will now match the performance with nearly double the mileage?? I guess it amounts to how badly you want the manual trans.
I’ll buy the hatchback as soon as I can find one inside 100 miles.
Great color and rimz.
i love this review on the new honda civic hybrid sport touring
Thanks Anthony for letting me share it with you
2025 with lightbulb in
The the top trim is crazy😢😢
It’s 2024… it should be full LED’s for all lighting. Also, can’t believe at this price point there is not even an option for ventilated seats, 360 camera, hood struts, rear air vents and backseat charging ports. And what’s with all the badging on the deck lid? Too busy! Honda should go back to un-badging trim names (LX, EX, EX-L, etc.). The new K4 is going to give this thing a run for its money. Also, it’s odd that Honda was the first ones with the blinker activated camera (LaneWatch-passenger only view) and completely abandoned the technology. Meanwhile, Kia/Hyundai engineers took the ball and ran with it, replacing the Nav screen camera display for their Side BlindView camera display on BOTH sides and in the speedo/tach displays. Wonder why Honda dropped the idea?
The patent on it probably expired
Tbh my ick is no venting in the front seats and lumbar support plus the tire but that’s my last worry
Everyone has what is important to them.
The Accord EX-L has rear USB jacks. Sports do not. Big miss on Sport models.
Thank you for the greats reviews
Is the new civic touring really more quiet?
I've owned 3 civics in my life. a 99 Civic HX coupe, a 04 Civic LX 4 door, and a 08 Civic EX 4 Door. Right now i don't drive a honda, but I've had a lot of good time with my civics. I agree with the zonks that you have with the no sunroof on the top trim model, no spare tire (Although that's very common now), no Rear AC Vents and no rear USB Ports. I mean...give ppl some Rear USB Ports!
I get the no rear heated seats that others are saying, since even a lot of sedans both compact and regular (Unless its a luxury brand model) don't normally get those in the USA, which is kind of annoying because even my 2012 hyundai sonata hybrid limited has rear heated seats. And In the winter time in my spot in southern California, it can be in the mid 20s to low 30s at night. As if you only need snow to be cold lol.
But anyways. Yeah i agree with your assessments on this.
Can your passengers really not survive charging an I-Pad for 20 minutes and wait an extra 2 seconds for the air to reach the rear?
@@mikeb3216 did you ever think that some of us actually live in hot environments where rear AC vents do make a difference not just for the passengers only, but it actually helps cool down the cabin faster.
@@PatrickC139 No, the thing is tiny..It takes an extra 12 seconds to cool down the rear and there are supposedly vents underneath the seats to help with airflow.
Why waste money on back seat vents and hookups if, like me, the back seat will probably be used less than 1% of the time? Maybe if I pick up 2 hitch hikers. Get an SUV if that's what you need. I usually ride solo and I have a large vehicle to drive when more passengers are necessary.
Back up cams are fine with me.. im not gonna watch movies anyways.. and i dont go reverse all the time hahahaha
Better quality , better visibility when you back up its about not to hit anything if you are in tight place downtown specially when its dark and wet
its about getting your value for money. for 30k + I EXPECT 8k Video dammit
I just don't like how they changed the front compared to the gas version. The gas Version looks better @2:50 it really does look like corolla
Of all Honda civic..2025 honda civic hybrid has a very beautiful front facia...
It isn't 100%, but yes it does have one-pedal driving. The paddles adjust how much regen you get when you lift off of the gas not when you use the brake. THAT'S ONE-PEDAL DRIVING. It works well for less-than emergency braking, or full stopping.
The brake pedal mixes regen and friction as the computer deems appropriate, and is unaffected by the paddles.
BTW, there are two definitions of "EV" - the popular one, and the correct one. The popular one is a car that stops at a charging station instead of a gas station. Some who make it popular will grudgingly allow the name to be used for a car that stops at both (PHEV). The correct one is a car that uses electricity for propulsion. If you could move a light bulb from a Tesla to a Pinto, it doesn't change from being an electric light to a gas light, does it? The same applies to propulsion systems. This is why HEVs are called, well, HEVs.
Most others do mix gas propulsion in. Except in low-power, highway cruising, THIS ONE DOES NOT. It is propelled by the electric motor alone. It is a "full EV" in every sense of the words, just not a "battery EV." It is a "Battery and Generator" EV. It's performance is that a full EV, just not with an over-powered motor or battery.
I love this
Joe, wait until the Mazda 3 Sedan has a Hybrid and a spare tire. No CVT for sure. Looks of the Civic Hybrid sedan looks great. Light interior...naah...Camry 2025 Hybrid vs Honda Civic Hybrid...what say you? Humm...

What is the best commuter and long distance comfort sedan awd with heated and cooled power front seats and good air vents in rear seats as it needs to disperse ac and heat well in the coastal nc area
In Canada I have never seen the civic priced so high, starting 30g ending at around 47g. Way too much. I know inflation is worldwide
It's a nice hybrid. Not many good looking ones out there. They usually crap on the grille and the wheels. But this one looks great
Great car but... Honda does this weird thing where they build a new car but cheap out on led lights, usb C for the rear passengers etc. Makes you feel like you bought a $50 steak dinner but still had to pay extra for baked potato!
This is the accord killer
Sat in both, thought this was nicer than the Accord!
I have the Accord and love the bigger size and bigger infotainment center, the Civic definitely looks better from the outside. The thing people forget is it doesn’t matter how much horsepower it has cause if you want that 50MPG you can’t use it. If you put it in sport mode and floor it, you’re gonna get 30MPG.
My EX-L gets over 50 mpg in the summer months due my light foot driving. About 40 mpg in winter months.
@@justin-9239disagree Im driving the civic touring hybrid 25 on sport mode and i was still getting 45+miles to the gallon and I was stepping on it , i bet if my dad drove he would get 60 mpgs
@@joeymv99 Definitely don’t believe that, what you’re saying literally goes against the laws of physics. If your vehicle is being pushed harder consistently, it will use more battery/gas, resulting in a lower MPG. So either you aren’t driving as hard and fast as you think you are or you’re just straight up making this up.
Light bulbs in the taillights and 2010 infotainment and rear camera resolution is the kinds of things that totally angers me about Honda. But they still charge premium pricing. Hey Honda, it’s not the 90’s anymore!
Was looking forward to the hatchback too, but no lumbar support, pano roof, rear Driver's pocket, vents, or USB kills it. Why bring this down to the Corolla Honda???? Europe and Asia get features that Americans should have!
Did I miss something? Was the point of the video to contrast the Civic with a Prius and then, to offer us insight into which is better? The title of this video lead me to believe that but instead, it's a rhetorical question, apparently.
Why doesn’t Honda do a civic and accord in AWD?
Copy and paste review is getting old.

I bought the 2024 Accord Hybrid Touring a couple months ago for my teen daughter (The civic wasn't available yet). She loves it. I want to get this 2025 Civic Hybrid Sport Touring for my commute, but really hate that it does not have memory seat for the driver. The worst thing Honda did was no rear climate vents. Major ZONK indeed...it is a TOTAL JOKE. Even if it is a Civic, the top model should definitely have it at this price point. It's lame. I prefer regular sunroof, especially on a sedan. I have Acrua RDX with pano roof. It looks cool, but it lets too much heat in and AC struggles to cool the car (I'm talking 100F California summer days).
honda bringing the heat
It's 2am and you're deep in the mountains, 100 miles from home, when your front tire is punctured by a ring-shank nail, protruding through a piece of plywood that fell off the back of a truck several hours earlier. What are you going to do? Don't you wish you had a spare?
Race! Race! Race! The civic Si 😅😅😅😅😅
This thing absolutely gets 50 MPG and then some. Those claiming it doesn't haven't driven the thing or just don't know how to drive and conserve fuel properly.
Why would you worry about the difference between 40mpg or 50mpg? If you drove 1000 miles a month your talking about savings of 5 gallons. Gas is sitting about $3 a gallon. Purposefully trying for higher efficiency at the cost of fun behind the wheel isn't worth it for most people. Would pay a couple dollars a week to get more enjoyment out of my commute.
