      IQ is innate. You’re born with your IQ and you can’t do anything to become a genius if you aren’t born a genius. Lowered IQ comes from neglect and poor nutrition in the first few years of life but you can’t raise your kids IQ in any meaningful way. Now you could argue that people with high IQs aren’t going to college now because it’s a scam but that probably isn’t true. The sciences continue to have a significantly higher average IQ than other pursuits of study. What has changed is we are telling the average IQ folks that they should go to college whereas 50-70 years ago colleges were more selective.

      Except that's not true from the data, our IQ has risen for decades, as Shapiro indicated in this video himself. From his description of this new study, it seems to suggest that the rate of growth has declined, not that IQs today are lower than that of back then. Dislike of modern trends doesn't necessarily make them the purview of fools and, therefore, most modern individuals fools through their usage of them. I agree with Shapiro that measures aught to be taken to protect and improve our nation's intellect.

      In the 50s and 60s the education system was not controlled by the Democrats. Bibles and the Pledge of Allegiance were allowed in schools. • @bfcourage
      @bfcourage Рік тому +9

      Are you saying homeschool is horrible for kids socially? I’m not fully understanding your comment because it doesn’t have enough punctuation.
      If you look up the word “socialization” it means (according to britanica) “socialization, the process whereby an individual learns to adjust to a group (or society) and behave in a manner approved by the group (or society).”
      So, really, it’s learning how to interact with others in society. No offense, but kids do not understand how to interact without experience. So, shoving a bunch of kids into a room every day and saying that they’re the pinnacle of “socialized” because they’re together “teaching each other” makes no sense to me.
      Homeschool kids are interacting with many different ages and groups of people and learning, with the help of those who have experience, what is acceptable and what is not. No, the homeschool kids may not understand or know about the latest “trends” or the coolest words being said around school, but that is not a bad thing at all.
      Yes, some homeschool kids are shy, but so are many kids that are in public school. Some homeschool kids don’t understand boundaries, but not all public school kids do either. Kids have their own personalities, no matter where they learn.
      Homeschooling a kid does not destroy their “socialization.” Homeschooling means you can help them learn to socialize in a welcoming environment, where they don’t have to be teased for every thing they say or do. A place where they can be comfortable in their own skin before the world tries to tell them every flaw they could possibly have.
      Not everyone wants to or is able to homeschool, that’s fine. We just need to stop pretending that homeschooled kids are just idiots when it comes to interacting with others. That’s just a ridiculous stereotype.

    • @MsStealYourDadAndMom
      @MsStealYourDadAndMom Рік тому +1

      I think reality TV and social media is a big problem too, there's too many people thinking they don't need an education because they'll just get UA-cam/TikTok/etc famous, and (not sure about in Australia) too many people making excuses for things like poor grammar. For instance when I was in school, you could write things like "they be walking down the road" in English classes and pass if you were black because the students, parents, and "leaders" would argue it was racist if you didn't allow black students to use ebonics. They also argued math was racist and non white students should be graded on a less harsh scale than white students, which seemed like a racist thing to say cause it's like they're implying non white students are dumb and things need to be easier for them. I was pissed for my black friends cause I know how hard they studied to earn their A's. The grading standards have dropped so much, I remember my mom would get shocked when she looked at the grading scale for getting an A cause she said when she was going a score in the 80s would be a C or B and not a A- To her, anything that I got that was a low B or C was unacceptable, she'd ground me and make me study. I got a D once in math (I had been sick for a little bit so I missed some classes and I've just never been good with numbers), she spanked and grounded me. I knew some kids whose parents didn't care and let them get whatever grade, I hated how she was when I was a kid, but I'm thankful for it now. I'm not sure about the rest of the country, I've heard it's like that in a lot of different places though. Add to that some teachers just don't care and just hand out the work without teaching or just give you the answer sometimes. Plus, if you're a jock (at least around here) teachers tend to give you better grades so you'll get to play in games, which gives the school a chance to get money from donors or have positive attention directed towards the school because "omg, did you see the quarterback make that play". However, I don't agree with Ben when he basically implied most low income people aren't as smart as high income people, cause there's a lot of people with money that are dumb and vice versa. It's like saying people with a driver's license are better drivers than people without one or people who have a fishing license are better fishermen than people who don't have one, when in reality, all it is is a legal document saying you can do X. It's like people who say they're smarter because they have a college degree.

    IQ is mostly genetic. The influence we have on IQ is minimal. Neglect and poor nutrition in the early years can lower IQ. But you can’t raise it in any significant way. Our schools fail to recognize kids with high IQs (especially boys) because high IQ kids (not just bright kids) tend to question authority and rules and are seen as behavioral problems. But even though schools fail them, they still have high IQs. #3 is the most plausible explanation for the decline overall. Stupid people have lots of babies. Idiocracy was prophesy.
