I used to deer hunt with Mr Busby for several years. He was a very good man with a good soul. He was a very knowledgeable man on cars and trucks. Rest in Peace Benny. Miss you my friend.
I`m an Aussie and this is one of my favorite shows I watch. I owned a 57 Chevy 4 door in my younger years here in Australia. It had the Blue Flame 6 cyl motor. Great car.
💞 Yes! I was thinking the same! I love how easy these old treasures are to work on. Thank you Father and Son for sharing your wisdom and love. I can’t wait to see her all shiny and pretty and I love the chrome 🩶💛🤍
The one I really like or love whichever you want to put is the fact those old cars coming back to life is extremely awesome in my book. I really love watching this episode because of that old 57 Chevy got brought back from its graveyard. Very awesome job getting her running again and seeing her move on her own power. Thank my friends for sharing this.
It's so nice watching you guys fixing things together and I love seeing your videos . The only thing is , I'm always left with a longing to see these old cars done right up and looking good as well as starting and driving . That car right there is going to look stunning when it's finished and I would have loved to see it out for a proper drive looking like it did back in it's days of glory .
It’s always amazing to me how many people tell you they drove it to the spot you picked it up at. But when you get it in the shop, everything’s broken that must be very frustrating. Anyway, keep up the great work you’re an inspiration.
I watch your rescues often. Good job guys! Surprised you guys don’t pressure wash the engine bay before you start. Getting all mouse poop, grease other stuff out would make working on the engine easier.
Thank you so much for prayers for Brian. Brian came through. Dr said it was a beast. He repaired doz hernias..2 and half hrs just to get through scar tissue. Put mesh all around his abdominal wall and mesh in part of midriff that was destroyed. Several days in hospital then wks at home. Can't thank u enuf for prayg and drumming up prayers. Good bless you all.

Hello. Great videos. Just some tri5 info. The bowtie emblem on the trunk is 6 cyl. With a silver V is 265. With a gold V is 283. Your eng has a 327 valve cover on the passenger side. Driver side looks original. The 4 barrel carb is a step up from the standard 2 barrel. Horsepower: 220bhp @ 4,600 rpm (single four-barrel), 270bhp @ 6000 rpm (dual four-barrel), 283bhp @ 6,200 RPM (fuel-injected). Best wishes.
The gold and silver has nothing to do with 265/283 designation. 265 engines were only available (as a carry over from ‘56) for a short while in ‘57, then all v8 cars the remainder of the model year got a 283 after that. The gold vs silver was a designation for Bel Air Model vs 210 Model.
Love those 57 Chevys, I knew a gentleman years ago who owned and rebuilt and restored a 55 Chevy to its original condition...it's a beautiful treasure for sure 🤗
It always warms my heart how much respect you guys give and receive with people. Everything is “yes ma’am” or “yes sir” when you answer and speak to people….wish it was like that everywhere, but unfortunately there are so many ignorant people in the world.
Back in the 70s when you bought a set of points for a Chevy they came with a small Allen wrench you set the points to 18 then you put the cap on it and open the little slide door in the front of the distributor start the car and you can reach that Allen wrench in through that little door and give the points a final adjustment with the car running.
Tank you for that you fixt old cars. They are as me in the morning. Take long time to work in the morning. Than in the afternoon it's working just fine. 😂
Our second car was a 57 Belaire. First one was bought was a Kaiser when we came to America in 1956 . That Chevy had an electrical glitch that I recall haunted that car. We kept it until 1964. I was 10 when we sold it.
i love this i would keep it like it is. put thechrome one, grille, fix the engine stuff that needs to be done and drive it. i love the authentic beauty of this! nice guys
I used to have one of that modal and style, The easiest way to tell what engine is in it is the v emblem. Gold V is a 283, Silver V is a 265 and no v was a six cylinder
Had to share your video. This is the 2nd video that I have watched from you. Amazed at what Y'all both can do with old vehicles. Can't wait to see more. Reminds me of my 2 brothers, David and Wayne. My brother David is legally blind, but when he could see, he worked on Everything he drove and owned. Him and Wayne both are Amazing mechanics, just as yourselves. Have a Wonderful day Y'all. Angela from eastern North Carolina but live in Colorado now..😊😊😊
Lol, Lances comment to Wyatt finding the chrome was hilarious. Hopefully it didn't hurt the bargain. Awesome video guys and you guys should hire that lady on your channel😅😅.
Back in the day, you'd set the points with a dwell meter hooked up. It's simple compared to today's cars but it helps to know how to work on the older cars!
I agree with Bryan. You guys are super respectful, which is something you don’t see in this environment, especially where I am at. It’s great to see that some people still respect their elders. You guys are awesome. Turned on to your channel by mister VISE GRIP GARAGE. Will watch every one of your episodes. I have a lot of catching up to do. You guys and Derek are quality people and that makes a difference. Keep up good work.
They make a tool just for adjusting GM points. A screwdriver handle with a long flexible shaft with the right size Allen wrench on the end of the shaft. Set the points with a feeler gauge. .018 new, .016 used. Once you get it running you slide the metal door on the cap up, put the tool in the points, hook up a dwell meter and set the points to the proper dwell angle. They also come as a kit with adapters to adjust carbs too.
I always knew those GM distributors as the "peekaboo" distributor. Don't know if that was the formal name or not, or just got that name because you peeked through metal door. We called that the barn door. The other nice thing is you didn't have to crank the engine to get the follower on the points arm on top of one of the distributor shaft lobes, or hand crank the fan to get to a lobe. I was always a MOPAR guy so had to wrestle with all this. And by the way, I've still got a dwell meter in my old tool chest, so you can tell I'm an old gray-haired guy.
I drove my 57 all the time without the breather back in the day and of course I finally screwed up the motor. Good luck to you Bogota guys. Enjoyed the video.......

Excellent video RESTORE Crew Wyatt :) , Lance :) , Christine :) also nice 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door Cream color car and also notice when pulling out back bumper was lose! Great find you all and hope all working okay to! Hope find fuel pump also fuel tank plus sending unit okay to and key ignition fix to plus wiring too!
Yes my late Father had 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door he bought new had till 1984 sold also Midnight Black with 283 V8 2 barrel , Automatic transmission then 1976 did big motor change 350 V8 motor 4 barrel carb with daul exhaust, Turbo 400 3 speed Automatic transmission in plus change cluster shifter pattern also power brakes and steering, 12 Volt Negative ground conversion GM Delco Alternator and 377 rear gears! I say car at local car club shows of same guy bought but updated some other stuff too was 36 years see it! Then in 2002 to 2007 my late Dad had got another USA 2 owner 1957 2 door black with 235 6 cylinder, 2 barrel carb , Coulmn Shifter 3 speed Manual transmission , 80% orgnail to and my dad gave up because health issues but last heard went Pennsylvania of Pittsburgh but not sure!
points adjustment was by a flexible hex driver that you could rotate to open/close point gap, and use a dwell meter while doing it (if you have a running engine) worked on those 283 Chevy engines in my teenage years. The struggle is real, Ford had the distributor in the front of the engine where it was easy to reach points, but Chevy had a 'better' idea...
Now that's a great barn find v8 57 chevy and it's runs. Another enjoyable video from you guys. I couldn't believe the price as well. I once had a 55 Belair that I wish I had kept. Would love to fine another one. Keep these revivals coming.

I owned two four doors and one two door in the late sixties, early 70's. You could hand me any bolt from a 57 and I could tell you where it came from on the car. I've seen a few restored but have never seen one that had an interior that matched the factory interior. Best I can recall it had door panels and seats that were covered in cloth that matched the color of the exterior but the fabric had a cloud pattern that was made from gold or silver threads. There was a street in houston back in the 60's that had multiple used car lots and every lot had some 57 chevy's sitting there for sale. $600 and most looked like new and had perhaps 90K miles on them. It was rare to find one with power brakes and extremely rare to find one with factory air.
$1900?!? My dad picked a similar one up for $500 twenty years ago, but $1900 for a complete '57 Bel Air is an absolute theft in today's market, especially with a good title. You guys scored.

Seeing those vacuum windshield wipers bring back some memories. Going up a hill in a rainstorm and sometimes you couldn't see anything
The fix was to install the optional combination fuel/vacuum pump, or, if you can find one, a Bendix Electro-Vac.
57 has to be my favorite. That's such a cool car.
