If your grass is too tall, hire that guy with the Zero Turn😆😆
I don't use a lift or jack. I just drop the whole deck from the mower and slide it out. Easy.
Not everyone can do that
Maybe this will help someone:
1. A flat lawn is like a unicorn, heard it exists but never seen one.
2. A belt never came off of a deck raised up as high as it goes. For best results keep lowering until you are able to hit a rock, a stump, a branch or a stout ant hill.
3. Fast and low does not beat high and slow(er)
4. Don't mow 5 minutes after the rain stops, I'm pretty sure the grass will still be there tomorrow
5. The front edge of the deck was designed as a bulldozer, if obstructions are encountered, see your CAT D140 x manual
6. Cut 4 or 5 pieces off of 1.5" or 2" pipe, use blower to clean off drive/garage, lower unattached deck onto pipes, roll out deck to avoid sparks and racket.
7. Use blower to clean of deck EVERY TIME as soon as you finish mowing, OR wait until next week and chip off crap with an available phillips head screw driver.
These are kinda pick and choose suggestions. Good Luck.
Had to change the main drive belt on my john deere a few times. Lot of extra stuff to move to get one back on.
"Don't crowd it" that's the best advice. Bogging the blades will really heat that belt up so it stretches and cooks, especially cheap belts.
Some great advice on changing belts, thank you very much Great video
Thanks for the clarification on the belt shredding issue. Those pesky belt guides can come back to bite you in the end......lol Dooooh!
Once had to fix a spin steer that a horse died on. Crushed the thing. That horse really liked that thing.
This is one of the best Belt installation videos I have seen. The owner needs to do some maintenance and painting on that mower I have 2 John Deere LX series and they aren't rusting like this one is. Keep up the great videos!!
I was not happy with the lighting it looked so much better while I was filming it than it does on the screen I will do better next time
Great info, thanks, like the muddy river catfish shirt!
Nice video Jeremy! Great explanation of the belt install. As rusty as that mower is i would say he has been driving it on our salt covered roads here in Iowa during the winter! Lol. 🇺🇸👍 Roger #backtheblue
I have to mow on level 5. Out of 1-8 height adjustments. Healthier grass and weeds!
Thank you!!!
I put mine in the middle of those 2 front guides and shredded it right away.
Have the LA 115 Hydro model , 13th season with no problems . Going too save this video for future if I need it for install belts one ( mines probably routed a little different being a Hydro ) . Good video
I have to replace the deck belt on my Toro Zero Turn. That was a pain in the backside. I tried to do the chinesium parts for it but I ended up going back with OEM parts.
I have this exact mower and this helped me. I still almost put it on wrong until I actually pulled up the diagram, but this got me started and made me sure it wasn't that complicated.
Smart to just look it up and not guess
You mentioned crowding the mower with deep grass. Also the mower can get crowded or plug if using mulching blades or having mulching cover on or engaged. Good video. Now I'll see if I can find why mine won't disengage. Thanks.
I agree with you about the tiny belt and how easy it is to over load the small engine, it was made for cheap and not much thick grass
love the intro
GX20072 Belt is 103.75 " in length. Which is 237.685 cm
107 cm is 42.126 inches
Great video man ! I have the JD E100 . My belt broke today. Ill be replacing it tomorrow.
Awesome video...thanks Jeremy. I just loosen the pulleys enough to slip the belt in between the guides and the pulleys, not take the pulleys off. In the case of the pulley with 3 guides, I was gratified to see the way you took off that one pulley with the three guides. I've been loosening the guides in the past...should have done it your way all along...lots of time saved and fingers and aggravation saved. As bad as that JD looks, it still sounds good and seems to run like a champ!
Well done MM1
I'm going to save your drive belt video. I've got a season or two before I need to replace it on a D110.
We had issue with a Simplicity mower Lancer 4416. Found out that the deck pulleys were to wide for the 1/2" belt so it would slip itself to death with some load on it. Eventually swapped this wider pulley out for the narrower pulley(same diameter) on top of the center drive spindle which has a 1/2" belt to the PTO. Upgraded the PTO to deck belt indeed with a 5/8" belt instead of the 1/2". Works like a charm now. Apparently the initial setup was original but I could not figure out why it was put on like that. The belt was way to deep in the pulley(which I measured 5/8"). So had to be a kind of mower detective😂
Great video, explaining in detail what not to do when replacing the deck-drive belt. Since you had to drop the linkage on the one side to enable your tools, would it not have been more productive to drop the whole mower deck out from underneath, slide it out to do the work? It sure would have made the viewer's view of this repair better. Would have only taken 4 extra minutes to drop/drag the deck out from underneath. A good video, though...thanks!
True that it's not a big deal to drop the whole deck, but some guys like to struggle a bit I guess.
Rusty crusty stamped deck. Didn't adjust the cable tension.
ty this was pretty cool.
Thank you was putting the belt wrong. 9:46
The nut that holds down the pully that has 3 belt guides is stuck and won't come off. Any suggestions for getting this nut off?
I’ve been fighting my cub cudet 1054 throwing the belt, I’ve replaced the belt, checked pulley alignments and bearings to make sure bearings weren’t locked up or binding and all check out good but still chucks the belt. I hear this is an issue with the cub cadet. Does anyone have any info on fixing this issue
How to repair the transmission when it slows to a stop when it gets hot?
I was surprised you did not at least blow that dirty deck off with some pressured air and a quick wipe down with an old oil rag. Also, while already there why not shoot a few pumps of grease in those grease fittings? I don't look at it as time or money, more like quality service to the customer that stands out over the competition. Take care.
My throttle control broke! Better trade up!
6:10 107cm is just the metric measure for 42", the deck width. Instead of the OEM John Deere part, I found a 4L1030 ( ½" x 103" ) standard V-belt from A&I is a lot cheaper and works just as well. The OEM odd-size is only a fraction of an inch longer.
OEM is 103.8 inches.
If belt is replaced I remove it every time and check everything and brging and guides and use OEM belts only
Great video…newly subscribed.
Welcome aboard!
sometimes you can use a piece of pipe that's just large enough diameter to fit over deck belt guides , to gain enough clearance to install belt without loosening anything . careful not to use too much force and bend the guide .
What? I didn't follow your idea. Bend the guides a bit? I think that's not what anyone should do, but good luck with that thought. Myself, I just loosen the pulleys enough to slip the belt in between the guides and the pulleys. In the case of the pulley with 3 guides, I was gratified to see the way Jeremy took off that one pulley with the three guides. I've been loosening the guides in the past...should have done it Jeremy's way all along...lots of time saved and fingers and aggravation saved.
MM1 I need some advice please. I have an old White LT13 38 inch cut with a Briggs 13 hp oh motor. Some time back I caught the deck on a low lying stump. Since then the deck will not raise fully and feels very heavy. It won't disengage the belt enough to allow an engine Start. Any ideas on the reason for this condition. I had to buy another mower due to this.
You’ve bent something These mowers are very fragile and aren’t meant to be used as bull dozers My advise would be to repair the bent deck hangars and pto mechanism
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 thank you sir
I know they are not meant as bulldozers and was not using it as such. The low stump, 2-3 inches in height was hidden in a tangle of weeds. Sorry that you felt that way but I did subscribe and will continue watching.
will a bad belt make the motor die when blades are engaged???
No, the plug under the seat is probably unplugged
I think those belt dimensions of 107 cm are referring to the deck width and have nothing to do with the belt length
Bin there dun that lol didn’t notice the guides/guards on the unit.
I highly doubt that
always go back with oem parts. cheap belts dont last. had a chinese belt last only 2 hours.
I'll add a like. I, the most p€n¡s-fingered mechanic in history, used this guy's video to replace the belt and idler pulleys. And it worked when I was done! I had to go buy a torque wrench, though.
I had a customer who was trying to mow a lot that’s 25 inches tall and he kept burning up the belt
It is not the mechanic fault he’s stupid is it ??????

No offense but, why not take the deck off to work on it, takes 5 minutes only.
I tell you what make a video of you taking the deck out and putting the deck back on in five minutes and then I will take the deck out from under it from now on
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 wow, your reply surprised me, 😮 I'm no expert, but for me is not that hard at all, just a few pins and the cable, how hard can that be?, maybe I should say five minutes off and five on..lol
@@TonyMontana-tm7ul I totally agree, take the deck off, that way you can check everything else out , like you i find it very easy to remove and reinstall , plus would make for a much better video for people to see clearly, i didn't think much of this video
Watched a kid on you tube, take the deck off under 5 minutes, 72 here took me 7 mins
Where is the video?
Pretty rough looking machine....People just don't take care of their equipment.
could have been 4 minutes
That shroud is causing the outside of the belt to wear... look inside it.
Or you don't have it tight enough (tension spring) and it is slapping the outside of the belt against something.
I'd start in the shroud.. since there was pieces under it
Nah, There is maybe a 1/2 inch of adjustment in the pto cable. The cover has nothing to do with belt shredding.
