    yeah i had the dunlop geomax mx35 and i put 23 hours on it through the desert and absolutely distroyed it. so far the shrinko 525 has about 2.5-3 hours on it with about half an hour on the street from cutting through neighborhoods and barely has anything done to it at all.

    How do you know if your current tires are soft, inter, or hard? Do they normally say?

  • @eatshitful
    @eatshitful 6 років тому +1

    That sedona is really soft to the touch! But the tire on my bike is designed for hard surface only and it is hard as a rock compound. Also years ago i use to run a tire designed specifically for rock that is now discontinued and it also was hard like a rock compound! Both the tire i ran many years ago and the tire on my bike now have never lost chunks even being hard compound and riding mostly rocks! While the sedona i have is really getting eaten up with hardly any miles on it. That soft rubber is just chewing right up! I don't believe it is that clear cut as you claim.

      Te best tire so far I had was the kenda Parker, and the kenda trackmaster, they both last a long time without loosing any knobbies. Also the Sedona was really good but was too dense, no traction is some scenarios..

    I think I put the wrong tire on my front...I just replaced them both, but they didn't have the GeoMax for the front and I got a Sedona. I live in northern Wyoming. The terrrain is very similar to Nevada. It's warming up and the snow has melted. The goofballs in their carnival trucks have been out there ripping things up and there are a lot of ruts, but my front end is getting thrown side to side to the point I feel like I might get dumped, in fact I did get dumped the other day and it sucked. I'm not a great rider, which has a lot to do with it. After watching this, I'm wondering about the front tire. I''m going out in the shop to change my air filter and will have a closer look. I typically go out and just hammer down, but now it's almost too responsive. Thoughts?

    With proper tires, that intro clip would have gone a lot different. Right? 😂
    Don't worry about tires, for beginners it's not that important, just buy something long lasting and focus on geting more seat time, maybe take a trials riding class or two. Tires make almost zero difference to a beginner rider. 😉

      toadamine how can I find out what Tyre I have?

    • @forresttaylor6849
      @forresttaylor6849 3 роки тому +1

      Not true. A beginner will often say “what am I doing wrong” and the answer might be they’re not experienced enough to know their setup isn’t right for the terrain they are riding.

    I am always only on either extremely rocky and hard packed terrain, or extremely muddy terrain. I was planning to get dunlop MX12's so I can get more traction in the muddy areas, but I am now thinking to reconsider. I don't want the knobs to sheer off but I'm just not getting enough traction in the muddy parts of the places I ride. Any tire suggestions? I would appreciate any and all.

      Hi @bk
      I just got my first bike, and ride in the same type of terrain as you. Unfortunately I can't help, and its 8 months later haha
      I was wondering if you had any tire wisdom that you could maybe share with me, what did you end up running?
      I have plenty of mud to ride through, but the hardpacked areas have sharp shale rock and like you previously commented, I too am very concerned with getting the wrong tire

  • @ChrisMason.333
    @ChrisMason.333 6 років тому +1

    People mistake " terrain" for "compound" as some tire manufacturers use compound some use terrain.

    hopefully someone is still answering questions, I have a CR125 that I ride on both dirt hard surface and Dune sands on the same day in the same location, this place is called Juniper Dunes in Washington state. the dirt tires work out there but can cause a lot of frustration when its been really hot and the sand is nice and soft, the dune hills are not huge by any means but there can be some areas where the length of the run before you hit a hill can be short so you need that traction, I am looking for the best tire for 70% sand and 30% dirt to ride on when there and I will have another just dirt tire for everywhere else. this Dunlop Geomax MX11 Sand/Mud Motorcycle Tire looks like it might fit the program I need being the tread is not going to beat me up like a cup tire would on the harder surface. any other suggestions?

    Be careful. Cutting your own trails like shown on this video is illegal. On BLM land you must always ride on pre-existing trails. This is actually quite liberal. Here in California, most of our riding is on National Forest land where we have to abide by the MVUM system that states that all trails are considered closed unless specifically on a MVUM map. It's a BS system but that's what the Libs give us.
    I'm not saying you're hurting anything but hate to see more more rules due to tree huggers getting more a ammunition from videos like this.
