the fact that a version of it has a dock tells me you could be able to make a hardware ad-on with analog sticks and extra buttons on the sides. maybe add duo spearers too.
Sticks would be incredibly uncomfortable in that form factor. And why multiple? At most you could fit one on there without removing the speaker. And you'd only need 2 for like... Ape Escape and almost no other games that the system can actually play. It barely looks like an OG Gameboy already at this point. Adding more is gonna make it look like a mess.
If possible, I'd prefer to reconfigure the 2 new front buttons to L2 and R2. The missing analog stick is understandable for such a small vertical orientation device but I'm hoping to see something like a small C stick on N3DS on their next revision.

I got 4 spare membranes, but they rip so easy. If somebody would make a full size DMG GB with perfect gameboy emulation, I would buy that. Don't need bells and whistles.
Soon
For me personally, I don't see the point of ruining a beautiful DMG look with a lot of extra buttons and an analog stick. I would play PS1 or Dreamcast on a different device. DMG is pure GB nostalgia for me. It was my first 'console' besides my Amiga computer in 1990. Those AA-batteries also add to that nostalgia and with 2450mah batteries I can play for almost 5 hours. So the GPi v1 did meet most of my expectations. But still dreamin of the ultimate DMG.
Buying a modded (IPS) DMG with Everdrive would also be an option, but it gets pretty expensive and Everdrives are hard to get here in the Netherlands.
@@deepx77 Guess it depends on what you mean by perfect GB emulation, but Piboy DMG is a full size model and runs on a Pi4. Alternatively I think Analogue Pockets device is full size and uses FPGA for emulating GB.
Oh no I just bought Analogue Pocket 🤦🏻
I liked the batteries. No China Bomb.
