I know the majority of your content are 'how to' videos but really, I subscribed to have something useful and educational to listen to while I'm doing my school work, or while I'm working on my own stuff. It's really entertaining and very thoughtful to listen to your stories and professional opinions over topics. I know I'll probably never get to the level of opening my own shop or making any money off fixing electronics, but I'll be comfortable enough to work on my own stuff. I thank you for being awesome.
just fixed this same thing today, but in my case it was a 2014 air, its nice to know my diagnosis process is on the right track thanks as always!
i just love your 'personality', especially when it comes to crap that should've been handeles better (more like should've been cleaned)
Well done indeed... good explanation as well.
Thanks for video, learned something again :D
Good job man, just found out your channel and subscribed :)
+Dragon10101011 Thanks for watching!
Thank you louis for tips, is there post about your equipments at your workbench ?
He has a video about the Tools he uses.
I dont really work on modern Macs, but I did have to change out the LED Driver IC on one of them that came across my bench a couple years ago. Notice a trend that these fail, and never knew why. I also had a 2012 macbook come across my bench with intermittent video, and then sometimes chime/no chime. Or chime and boot with no video and no backlight. darn GPU failures. I tried to reflow that one but failed miserably, I think the GPU itself was actually bad. Radeon.
i have no idea what the fuck he's talking about but his voice is soothing
"Does it work, or have I just been talking out my ass for ten minutes? "
you uploaded the video, so I'd say yes. I've been away all week now I can relax and catch up on the 12 video's I've missed 👍
So bin watching your videos religiously I ordered lcd Driver chips from you, which I Believe was my problem on 2015 MacBook Air. Thought I did a good job until I realize I accidentally scraped all the Micro chips on one side of the board. What do you do now? Lol. Looked on your web site didn’t see them and they’re so small I don’t think I can Solder them on. List of parts I screwed up 100K 1% 1/20W MF 201,

I wish you sold Circuit kits for newbies like me. 😁
Why don't you simply disconnect the buzzer inside the soldering station?
+Petri Ševardnadze too much time
Do you clean the laptops before you return them? I mean externally like the screen, etc.
+Noclpro Depends. If I am allowed to repair the machine at a proper pace, yes. If they start calling asking for status/if it's done yet, no.
If someone gives me time, I will give them the benefit of taking five minutes to clean every individual key, the screen, inbetween the keys, the trackpad, the bottom, the casing, the top, the insides so it looks like it did coming out of the box new from Apple.
If someone doesn't give me time they can take it back as nasty as they sent it in.
I start from a positive place with good intentions, and then I let other people dictate the rest based on their own actions. :)
+Louis Rossmann I love your take on things..
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'd bet they do make the cheap soldering stations crappier intentionally. The hot air digital temperature setting on aoyues is so crap, it makes me glad I killed it by leaving the pump on for a couple of days (using it to aerate an etching bath, the pump overheated, lol). It would just randomly error out when heating too fast so you'd have to bring up the temperature a couple degrees at a time.
If they'd just replaced the digital controls with analog circuitry and pots, maybe even replaced the heavy transformer with an smps, they'd make it even cheaper and lots more usable. But then they'd lose out on profit selling the more expensive stations.
You make it look so easy, It probably is when you get used to doing it.
What is the reason that you did not already opened it up and ripped out the beeper? ^^
+Dennis Lubert LoL
+Dennis Lubert The beeper is important as the station beeps once the iron has reached the set temperature.
+Marcin Pluciennik
He should replace it with an LED or something. I'm sure he's already thought about it though. :)
so, I was to ask you if you recommend buying a MacPro....see, I bought an HP Envy 1yr. ago, & I have had to send it back to HP to replace the HD 3x.......I just don't know what to do....everyone seems to love Mac...& they say you hardly ever get viruses. On my HP, I get viruses to often....I've used Avg, McAfee, & Eset to name a few....my HP....is great...2Tb...16gigs of ram....BUT....I've am always having HD problems....so question, HP has offered to buy back my pc.....I'm thinking I might take the money, save up and buy a MacPro....?? Your thoughts??
Damn L, are you growing the fancy beard, have one exactly the same, go for it, looks good on you!
You could just turn off Hakko before unplugging iron.
2nd
Ok so dumb question.... since you hate the hakko beep so much why haven't you goan and riped the buzzer out of it.
+KingOfKYA same reason i haven't tagged videos on YT, same reason my amp is sitting on the floor here.. it annoys me, but not enough to invest time into it.
You are on Windows 10 again HAHAHAHAHAHA oh my god I assume you discovered that the next day you went to the office and Windows 8 trolled you
+[TEKNIK] This video was filmed four months ago!
+Louis Rossmann my bad! lol
You look kind of manic in the thumbnail :)
why do you consider the a1278 ivy bridge machines a piece a crap. I think its one of the last decent machines Apple made.
+highvoltage12v 1280x800 for sale in 2015 for $1000+ with a 500 GB hard drive. What a pile of shit!
+Louis Rossmann I remember getting a Dell Latitude D600 with a 1400x1050 screen in 2004. Granted, that was high end at the time, but selling a supposed high end machine with a 1280x800 display in 2015 should be considered criminal!
+Louis Rossmann Alright I guess you're right. I got my 2012 A1278 for the price of a screen. It was left in a hot car (so I was told) and it had an imprint of the keyboard on the screen and the housing was falling out of the shell.
That feedback ball didn't look good
+Louis Rossmann
You are complaining so much about your soldering station making that noise. Why won't you simple open it and cut out that piezo buzzer? Could it be laziness or if you do no-one will pay you for that service?
+Mikheil Ghvinianidze opening it is a waste of time. it takes effort to open it, it takes no effort to curse it everytime it beeps.
plus, i like the beep when it comes to temperature.
my best friend used to take it out of the holder, look at it, and go "beep you piece of shit, beep!" in a funny voice. it was one of our highlights when ending a long workday. when it beeps at the end, i think of those fun workdays.
+Louis Rossmann oh sorry I didn't know that you enjoy it. In videos. You make it seem that it makes your work miserable.
Mikheil Ghvinianidze I love the initial beep!
But that screaming bs when you switch irons is annoying as hell.
