    I Just want to thank you Louis for your videos, that allowed me to repair a 820 2879 board not turning on with a dim green light on the charger. The PP3V42_G3H rail had only ~1.2v but why!? After many multimeter probing, schematic, boardview and using my brain ;) it turned out to be the resistor R6905 on PPDCIN_G3H_OR_PBUS 16v got in but only around 2v or something got out. So after figuring out that was a 1ohm resistor I got it out of the board and it measured 88ohm. I searched the scrap board for a 1ohm resistor and replaced it and BOOM it worked. So happy for this right now. Thanks a lot Louis and keep up the good work.

    I'm a mechanical engineer who regularly marks up pneumatic and electrical schematics for transport operation systems. It's interesting to watch these videos because, even though this is a totally different area of expertise, the schematic reading and problem solving processes remain the same.

    Very helpful information! It would helpful to see the next step by measuring the values on the board. Schematics and the board layout are very different. Louis does a great job making a complex topic simple and to the point.

    Hello, I am a subscriber and am so glad there is someone like you to give support and guidance and you deserve every credit and profit from doing what you do here! Your channel has given me confidence in a trade so complicated and secretive. Thank you.
    If i lived in the US i would pay you a visit and take a tutorial with you!
    I have just one question if you don't mind.
    I had the exact same issue as you have had with this board, the only exception is that i have all the voltages in all the places you tested, a little low, but present.
    I did replace C7016 and now have a green light! but it is only green.. with or without a battery.. so the battery is not charging.. :/ is there anything you could recommend? Happy to pay for guidance of course. Thankyou

    Hello Louis, it´s wonderful to watch your videos ! Great stuff ! Btw. i got a 820-2137 Board. When i plug the charger in the MacBook Air starts spinning the FAN but no chiming. When i meassured the voltages i recognized that PPBUS_G3H is only 8.4V. When i desoldered the Coil where it came from the the Voltage from the side of Buck Converter goes to 16.5 V. But i meassured no short. I have no more idea. CAn you give me advice what else to do? THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS !!!!!!

    Hey, great videos! I've been watching more of yours recently trying to fix this laptop I've had that's been sitting around for quite a while. I think I'm pretty close to figuring it out, but kinda stuck now. So I have a 820-3115-b and it gives me a dim green blinking light and no orange w/ battery in it. I can hear a clicking too and it seems like it's the capacitor at C7087. The thing I don't get yet is that if it's clicking, does that mean the capacitor is bad or just a short to ground? Could it be one of the transistors that are bad?

    Hello Ross,
    I have a macbook pro 2014 retina, wont come on when i hit the power button, but comes on when the charger is plugged in (after a water spill). Battery is 100%, every other thing works normal. Please, what part of the board should I be looking at? Thank you!

    Christ I have never seen anything remotely close to the problems you check out on your videos with Apple boards NOT EVEN ON ACER laptop boards LOL. I am also in the repair business mostly IT Network installation contracts but also do laptops and Desktop Repairs and Custom Servers. I do work with Apple Desktop Machines ( quite a few people bring me their Audio Daw machines to setup for heavy Audio and Video editing) .
    I have a small Hakku rework station for small quick repairs. But the customers I have in industrial Shops have not time for a repair when you have a Multimillion dollar Auto line parts going and a RenShaw machine goes down...No time to panic. I stay away from Apple portable products for a reason I do not have the time to fix things for hours.
    Good and Excellent Videos.

    Hie Louis. Great Fan, love your witty comments. I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 and had it liquid damaged and sent it in for repair apparently to China, they said they have to replace the motherboard. Worked for a year and then its dead completely. No green light. Now after watching a lot of your videos I opened it up by myself and found out that its 820-2936 B MB instead of 820-3115 MB. And started going over the power rails and found that it doesent have PPBUS_G3H OR PP3V42_G3H OR SMC_BC_ACOK.
    What should I do next ? I'm a little confused

    your vids have definitely helped me learn and fall in love with tech repair all over again but a quick question that I've been searching the web for . I have a MacBook air2010.model #.a1369. I have green light from charger but no power. I shorted the power pads and it Turned on!! But I accidentally bridged the power pad to another pad close to it causing it to spark a little and shut off. is this repairable?

    I have a similar issue, however when I plug the battery in, the U7000, gets VERY hot... I had to replace the charger vsense resistors R7020 and R7021 as they were in the kOhms and not 10 each (also went ahead and replaced C7020 cuz it looked like shit.) I have 0.237V at PPBUS_G3H. Is it safe to conclude that U7000 is bad? I have a spare board, with a hole in it, which I pulled the resistors from (all measured correctly on donor board), which has the u7000 I can try...

    • @BuickGeek24

      Everything else was crap by comparison. They just get it, and when they don't, if you bother them enough, they'll change it for you.

    • @Livvertical
      @Livvertical 9 років тому

      Louis Rossmann Plan B for when the internet is down and you can't access your tickets? I know for my asterisk server I've been forced to setup a failover isp so calls keep coming in through the system. You can't keep records once you relegate to using a cellphone as your backup.

    • @rossmanngroup
      @rossmanngroup  9 років тому +1

      I connect to wifi from next door when internet is down, and put a sign in the window that says "CASH ONLY BECAUSE TIME WARNER SUCKS"
      I hear you though. As good as it is, all cloud shit for ticketing is inherently slower than GOOD software run on a GOOD host computer that is sitting in front of you.

    Hi there, I am one of those who was/is taught how this confusing squiggly lines (transistors) actually work. Well and therefore I am not able to totally ignore this "shit" they have thought me... anyways and jokes aside :) I now watched somewhat about 3 hours of your video material (repairing stuff and talking about lets call it business problems) and even thought Apple products wont (probably) ever be in my area of interests.
    Just some compliments here: Nice Videos with great quality content and mostly uncut sharing of life experiences! Something I am really looking forward to watch!
    I have one questions, if I may:
    I am really astonished that the circuits from apple products are available. I always thought that secrecy would be a big deal there (and everywhere else)... so is it?

    I know my question has nothing to do with this video but I want to ask your opinion.
    I just picked up a Lenovo T430 with windows 7, have an hp with 10 but some software I need for work isn't compatible with 10, so figured another laptop never hurt anyone. Anyway my question is this. as far as security goes what would you recommend? I have always just used AVG free but seeing as I am going to have work related things in this computer I would like the best protection possible.
    Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

AVG hasn't done so well in A/V benchmarks the past several years, at least the last i checked. avast seems to be standard these days. Symantec for enterprise and commercial environments. (i think)

      Tony Tone wtf no that board is over $550. FIX!!!
      is smc_reset_l high?
      is 3v going to the chip that sits between the SMC and the adapter?
      is a known good dc in board being connected?

    • @TonyToneFixMyPhone
      @TonyToneFixMyPhone 8 років тому

      OK. I see in your video if smc_reset_l is 3.4V it is bad SMC. Never replaced one before. I'll give it a try.
      Can't figure out which chip you are referring to RE: between the SMC and adapter. (U7000 & U7090 seem good, getting pp3v42_g3h). Tried 2 dcin's and they seem good.

    i am still getting into understanding better - however - i thought I should share a funny discovery on a ugly 820-2936 board which I am trying to fix (which turns out not only to had a liquid damage but also a bad doctor maybe !?)
    I just removed U7000, suspecting it of not enabling the 1-wire to give me the damn green light and making me stuck with dim flickering.
    WHAT I FOUND WAS AN IC WITH 25 CONTACTS ON A PATTERN THAT DEMANDS 29
    first i had to laugh but now fear spreads that there is more stuff badly doctored that i can't yet see

    Where do you find your schematics and diagnostic manuals?
    Just finding repair manuals for simple circuits and control boards I run into major road blocks of repair centers demanding money for information. An example is whirlpool demanding license fees just for me to look up a part number or GE doing the same thing. Not just pay a fee type situation either, but you must bring in so many dollars a month to us to have a license and then well let you look through our web portal but you can't copy any of it, type of horse crap.
    I've dealt with that for so long I have considered being a professional hit man.

      its called GOOGLE.....kind of a new thing. Try it sometime. How many fucking times does Louis have to say....DON'T ask where I get my schematics....I don't sell, lend, give or give a website name. So DON'T ask. Then what happens....every dipshit on Y/Tube asks " where do you find or get your schematics? " HINT: look for the watermark on the schematics he is using. TOO fucking simple.

    Hello Louis,
    it´s wonderful to watch your videos !
