  • Easy Pressure Cooker Yogurt
1/2 - 1 gallon yogurt in the pressure cooker - use pressure cooker yougurt button. Push until it says "boil". When cycle has finished, make sure temperature has reached 180 degrees. If not, use saute mode until it does. Remove pot on to counter and let cool until between 105 and 110 degrees. Add 1/4 cup live culture yogurt if using 1/2 gallon of milk or 1/2 cup of yogurt for a full gallon of milk. Return pot to pressure cooker and press yogurt button until it has a time. I like to run it for about 10 hours! When finished, you can drain off the whey for a thicker yogurt.

Sarah, I’m single and live alone in NYC. Your video's inspired me to start meal prepping once COVID hit & I began working from home. I prep on Friday evening & Saturday for (most) of the next week. I can’t tell you how much money I’ve saved not eating out, ordering in or buying prepared foods during the last 14 months. And, unlike most folks who aren’t getting around like we used to used to pre-pandemic, I’ve actually lost weight. Thank You for the inspiration!!!

We have just renovated our kitchen. We had two ovens installed. The one we use daily and for roasting is pyrolytic. The other one we use for less messy dishes such as cakes and bread. I wouldn’t have thought we’d need both until our daughter had her new kitchen installed. We had managed for years without an oven. It’s amazing what we managed to cook using just small appliances and a cook top! We certainly didn’t entertain. I must say it’s been nice to be able to entertain again.

Since you’re doing the yogurt in a stainless pot (versus a ceramic crock pot) you can put the pot of yogurt in a sink of cold water and it will come down quicker than just on the counter. I started doing that when I was ill and didn’t have the energy to do anything without a shortcut. So I invented shortcuts in hopes that it would work. Some didn’t. Sink of cold water did.

I love, love, love making my own yogurt! The worst part is the temp watch. If you want that to go a bit faster you can place your insert in a bit of cool water and it will lower the temp faster. I found that it almost cuts my time down by half. Just make sure once it gets to temp you dry it off with a towel before putting back into the pot. Love your channel.

I have a 3 quart instant pot I use for eggs and yogurt ( only two of us here) I boil the milk in my instant pot on yogurt boil, then it turns off and I take the inner pot out and put it in a larger pot that has ice and water in it, all the while whacking it , It cool down faster. I have a thermometer that I check the temp with, then I add my yogurt starter from my last batch that I’ve saved. I put it back in my instant pot on normal from 8 hours to 11 hours. Overnight. Then out of pot and into the fridge to cool. Then I put in jars the next day when it’s thicker and cold. I don’t buy yogurt anymore. I love making it this way. I’ve made it in jars in my cooler, in my dehydrator, in a Salton yogurt maker ( years ago, same principle) but this is so much easier for me! ❤️💕🥰

Quick tip for cooling the milk in 10 minutes (I make a gallon and a half at a time). I take my pot and put it in the kitchen sink. Fill the sink with cold water up to the height of the milk in the pot (not to high or the pot will float). Swish the water around every so often to keep the water that gets hot mixed with the colder water and away from the sides. It keeps the cooler water next to the pot. I take mine from 180 (or more) down to 115 in less than 10 minutes. It will be at 150 something before the sinks finishes filling.

You don't have to boil it if you already have pasteurized milk. 180 degrees is the temperature of pasteurization. You just need to heat it up to 110 degrees and then add the culture.

    2 things:
1- I realized very quickly that I had somehow missed the last video the second I saw your kitchen. 😲 so I went back and watched it first... the black tile is AMAZING!! 🤩 I never would have thought to do black but it’s perfect.
2-I have never heard the small oranges (mandarins/cuties) called “mandis” or “mandys” but I love that and will start calling them that now for obvious reasons... 😉😆

My kitchen aide did the same thing. Kind of bouncing not locked down tight. I remember something was just loose in the back of it. Once tightened it was fine.

Coconut rice was a hit with my family. It's only 5 ingredients and can be found on a google search. We used 2 cans organic coconut milk (thai kitchen) rinse cans with warm water, fill each can 2x then pour into instapot (8qt), ginger 1TBsp (fresh or ground), basil 2 TBsp (dry), chicken bouillon 3 TBsp, lime juice 1TBsp, add chicken tenderloins or boneless thighs pressure cook for 10min, remove/set aside, add 3/4 box/Costco size box (6 to 8 cups) instant minute rice, (we added 2 TBsp's each of garlic powder & granulated onion) cook in the liquid for 15 to 20 min. We served the rice and chicken with halved melody tomatoes dressed with pesto, sesame oil, feta, Nona pia basalmic glaze, little of each.

Since the bagels are so good, it might be worth making 5 or 6 double batches (or whatever amount might be a few weeks' worth ??) on a day with time for it & freezing them. Maybe all the kids can help, like a bagel assembly line!

My family loves the Mexican Casserole, we do add shredded chicken sometimes and then top with crushed up Doritos or eat with tortilla chips too. So yummy!

I had an ice addiction for a year. I craved Sonic crushed ice. It was caused by a severe iron deficiency. It sure was fun crunching on that ice though!
