Just a little tip...after shaping your patties, place them on a Parchment lined pan and freeze them 1st then place them in large zip lock bags and freeze them. It saves on all the extra wrapping and they stay well shaped. You can cook as many as you want from frozen.
I'm swooning over all that gorgeous homemade bread! I have Celiac, and also have to eat low carb for health reasons, so I can only dream about it, lol! I had a helpful hint [if you didn't do this already]...for freezer meals, line your 9x13 casserole dish with foil, fill and freeze; then remove it from the pan and re-wrap the frozen block. When you're ready to eat it, the night before, take it out of the freezer and thaw in the original pan for baking the next day. This frees up your baking dishes! Great video!
I have stuffed shells (you can’t make just a little) and chicken in dressing. Those are our two go-to freezer meals. I also make large batches of banana bread and bake it in mini loaf pans. It freezes and thaws beautifully.
Hy, I just found your channel today. I love watching you cook, it's calming, you transmit tranquility. And the "vintage" bowls you use are divine, they remind me of my childhood and my grandmother cooking in the kitchen. Greetings to you and your sous-chef husband from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I just a few days ago have came across your lovely channel and I am hooked!!! I think you have hit all the marks for a successful and clean natured channel, I wish you blessings to continue to grow😇.
Your meal preps and gigantic. I've done a few 4 hour meal preps and been exhausted in the end. I never would allow myself to take a break ,trying to rush the process. I think you are definitely right in making sure to take a break. I will try to cherish the moment and enjoy the process more .
Love From Scratch Freezer Meals so we can skip the preservatives & junk they put in processed foods. I've made freezer burritos for quite a while and once they're rolled up I just placed them all on a cookie sheet freeze them, then add them all in a freezer bag. Saves on foil & extra cost. Thx again for the great Freezer Meal ideas ❤
I just found your channel while searching for freezer meals and I just wanted to say you are a delight to watch. I felt like I was sitting in your kitchen sipping coffee while you were cooking! Your recipes look lovely and I’m adding a few to my list to prepare this weekend.
I’m so glad you felt welcome in my kitchen 🥰 that’s what I hope people will feel with these videos. Welcome to our channel and have a lovely weekend ❤️
I am so happy to have found your channel. You and your husband are a joy to watch. Your demeanor is soothing and calming, which I never pair with the idea of a busy cooking day. What an inspiration you are! Thank you for sharing your home and recipes.
I see this video was made over a year ago but I just found you last week. I didn't have time to leave a comment then but I want to thank you for your good recipes, good advice, encouragement and the very pleasing manner in which you present your videos. I do consider myself a good cook and already do some similar steps but I've already learned so much from you. Like your method for so quickly removing the paper skins from garlic. You had a whole bunch of cloves done so quickly. I also love the idea of adding a lot of goodness into your hamburger patties before you freeze them vs just seasoning and shaping. That is a big time savings you will be rewarded for over and over when you don't have to get out the cheese and other things you included each time. Why did I never think of that? I do so appreciate the additional information you shared about the pizza dough. Although I love it we don't eat that much bread like those you showed. If I made them and they were here we'd eat far too much of it for us. But there are few eaters here these days so it would go farther and, well, someone would have to eat it. I know. I could freeze it or make smaller quantities. Yet it's time were saving too. However, I know some I have to share this video with as they will be thrilled. Thanks for giving us sources for your pails and aprons. I'm wondering if you can tell me more about the pans you cook your pizza and bread sticks in. They look larger than regular cookie sheets and even larger than a half sheet pan. Can you share their dimensions? Did you get them at a restaurant supply store? They were probably quite reasonable when you got them. As were so many of my kitchen things I got many years ago. But Whew! The prices on the same things today, even when not as well made, are exorbitant. Yet that pan size has possibilities. I'm thinking about it. Thanks again.
Welcome, I am so glad you found our channel :) They are bakers half sheets by nordic ware and probably about 25 years old! so glad to hear such nice feedback, glad you are gleaning good tips and tricks from our videos. - Abby Jo
WOW, by the way! You have gotten hold of the AUTHENTIC kebab skewers! The flat ones are meant to hang on to the ground meat kebabs! Although the Mediterranean version will have those spices , even tomato paste in the ground lamb or beef. You can use your hamburger cheddar Pattie’s and just wrap a handful around the skewers ! The flat skewer will keep it from falling off it vs using the thin round or even the thin square ones!
I live alone now, but I grew up in a large family of eight. That remains my cooking mindset, cooking for eight. Therefore I always have left-over meals stacked in the freezer. We had a very large garden and canned and froze all of our food for the winter. I remember one year we had a bumper crop of apples from the orchard. My mom and I made apple pies. She stored them in freezer bags separately. I can still remember those pies stacked in the freezer. On Sunday, when she was baking the “Sunday chicken” she would slide a frozen pie into the oven. It was heavenly. Watching you cook for your family reminds me of her, thank you 🙏 😊💕
That’s what my oldest daughter says, she only knows how to cook for eight ❤️ that apple pie for Sunday dinner sounds amazing! What beautiful memories. 🥰
This may sound a bit weird, well the first part isn’t weird but I love the way you cook, the amounts that you do are good to put in the freezer for me too, but the best thing about this is that you’re a cook that doesn’t mind getting your hands dirty! Just like a down home country girl! Would recipes happen to be posted somewhere?
Abby-- I really enjoy your channel. Thank you for showing how to make pourable topping for pot pies--it's really good and easy to make--thanks a bunch--April
I watched/listened to your video while I made up some freezer meals for my Mom and brother, who will be staying with her while we are away for a few days (my older daughter usually stays with my Mom as Mom is elderly and has mobility issues~~cooking is very difficult for her...). I made bacon and cheese biscuits, baked beans, and blueberry muffins. I previously made hot dog chili. Since my brother isn't very cooking-oriented, this will give them some options while we're away. I love your videos. Your soothing personality and voice as well as your content are balm to my soul. God bless!
I have a bucket with a lid like yours. I keep wheat berries in it and make my own flour. You have inspired me with your freezer meals. I think I'll make some pesto bread sticks and some foccocia bread too. Thank you. I'll be watching more of your videos for inspiration.
Love this video. The mushroom sauce on your Great Grandmothers casserole definitely inspired me. You are so right about taking a break. If the captain is exhausted there's no one to steer the ship. Thanks for the recipes x
One thing I learned from making zillions of roasted potatoes and veg for my family is that when tossing them in oil and seasoning it’s better to put it all in a big bowl first to coat everything - that way you’re not wasting seasoning on your hands. Then use a spatula to empty it onto cooking sheet and scrape bowl.
Made your crust today for our dinner. Now I know it's not quite dinner time yet. But It came together well. I pre baked and then will finish baking later
Abby Jo, where have you been? I have not seen you on here in a long time, I hope you and your family are doing well. I miss seeing you on here, you are a fabulous cook and such a good teacher. Hope you come back soon, you are missed. Hugs from Robbin, and God bless you and your family.
Hi Abby Jo...I am so happy I discovered your channel....I just love love love it...I have been binge watching...you live like we did growing up...and I feel blessed now that we did...I love your channel...so calming and relaxing in this crazy wild world...thank you for that...I love your cozy cottage...
Thank you, ‘Freezer Meals’ your video came out at the perfect time. I use all the ingredients you used in your video but not to make the same meals. I do a simple marinade on my chicken before freezing, i’m definitely trying your marinade. I also do easy breakfast sandwiches on croissants sausage egg and cheese but I’m eager to try breakfast burritos. When we find pineapples for a good price, I stock up cut them up and freeze them to use in smoothies, desserts etc. I’ve never tried to make homemade pizza making the dough just thought this was out of my wheelhouse, going to give your recipe a try and pray for success. Thank you again for the inspiration
I’m so glad you are going to try the pizza crust ❤️❤️❤️ love that you already make great freezer meals. So good for the budget and time. Have a blessed week!
Abbyjo, I have been binge-watching your videos since recently discovering your channel. I enjoyed this one, too! All the work that you put into this prep was well worth it and must be very satisfying. I'm taking notes😊 and saving my pennies to buy your cookbook, too! Thanks so much! 🥰️
Awww 🥰 I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos and welcome to our channel! ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, I love a good prep day and getting it all put away in the freezer!
There is no better word than delicious. I could almost taste everything. Love your videos, they are so encouraging in helping me slow down and enjoy life more. These freezer meal ideas are so wonderful and will help me cut the work on many busy days. Thank you soooooo much for sharing.
I also take breaks. I honestly have to and look forward to them. They keep me going. I make big batches of cheese sauce up and freeze them. They defrost fast to 2lb plastic containers.
Thank you so much Abby Jo! I’m definitely making your hamburgers for our camping trip in July! Thank you so much! One of my favorite things to freeze is homemade pesto. In mid-Winter there is nothing like the smell of basil! 🌿 I also like to cut up chicken pieces and put them in freezer bags with teriyaki sauce, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and minced garlic. We make them into kabobs with fresh vegetables. I loved the video!!!🤗💓
I lovd your more laid back style, very calming, easy to watch, not too much talking about what your going to do, you describe it, then get to it, interesting content, easy to follow. Just a few other ways of saying delicious.....Scrumptious, amazing, delightful, super tasty, a family favorite, taste bud approved, fabulous, great flavor harmony, crowd pleaser, off the charts yummy, definitely hits the next level...... Thank you for sharing!!😁❤️😁❤️
I truly enjoyed this! I'm often looking for inspiration and it was so refreshing to hear your money saving tips. Buying in bulk and cooking in bulk saves me so much money!
Just found your video and I’m hooked. I love to can my food & make freezer meals. Those burritos made my mouth water. Keep making videos for us to enjoy. ❤
Thank you again for this beautiful video. This kind I Love! Every day cooking.Hope things like these recipes will be in your next book. ( no pressure).♥️
Dearest Abby Jo, your channel is wonderful is wonderful! I really enjoy watching you cooking, enjoying your hygge time or spending time with your beautiful family. As I do not have place for a big freezer I use mine to put in summer veggies and fruits, so I can enjoy them fresh in the winter. Have a blessed day and weekend. Daniela XX
Great video. Amazing, wonderful, tasty, yummy....but it's all still delicious! So grateful for your channel. We always froze spaghetti sauce, sausage and peppers, chicken pot pie. Love the ideas and recipes you provided.
Delicious is a good word & fine that you use it often. Others: yummy, delightful, savory, sweet, salty goodness, crispy, creamy, luscious, dreamy, heavenly, excellent flavor, aromatic spice, overly pleasing taste, chewy texture, tasty, cheesy delight ... you get the idea, just try to decribe the dish a bit more with adjectives so we get the idea of the delicious flavor.
I’ve just started down a path of eating more vegetables and cutting out sugar. I would like to see something with different soup variations that I can freeze and bring out as I need it, that way I don’t feel like I need to go eat out!
What are you putting in your comfort drink to relax with! It looks so yummy I want to make one! I think it's coffee and cream so there's a few other things you're adding I'm not sure of?
Great to share your cooing in the kitchen again, Did you make roast potatoes when you made Thanksgiving dinner? The stock looked fab, would be great for turkey noodle soup.. yummm thanks again
I just found your channel and am loving it! in the fall I make the following for my freezer.... applesauce, apple pies, lasagna, meatballs, chicken pies, goulash, spaghetti sauce, hashbrown casseroles, meatloaf, I cook up squash and mash it and add brown sugar and butter and freeze it in portions for suppers. I also make a lot of homemade soups. my husband works full time and farms. I am a server and work alot of evenings so to be able to just throw something into the oven for supper is wonderful! it makes it easy for my husband as he doesn't cook so he can just heat up a soup or goulash or something for supper! I always look forward to my fall cooking days. I also can salsa, Pickles, beets , jalapeños and more! we have a local farm that sells vegetables so I get all my produce from them for my big cooking days. I am always looking for new ideas and I have found several from you! thank you!
Wow, I love it! Such delicious good things for the freezer. Adding the brown sugar and butter to the squash ahead of time is such a good idea 🙌 I’m going to do that next time ❤️ I love all your canning too🥰🥰🥰 have a blessed week and welcome to the channel.
I like sewing variations on recipes. I make tater tot casserole and don't brown the beef add raw chopped onion and cream of celery on bottom top with slices of American cheese slices rop that with tater tots. As the beef cooks the grease from it cooks the potatoes. The whole thing gets creamy and the pots crispy and no prepping as far as browning.
Another great video. I am learning some new tips and tricks and comment right along like I was sitting in your kitchen. 😂 really smart thinking saving the pineapple bits, etc. to cook in the crockpot and eat over rice. Thumbs up!!!! Thank you so much, Abby Jo and family.
Breakfast burritos look soooo tasty!! Nothing like a seasoned, crispy 🥔 spud! I would have a hard time not munching on them while building the burritos.
Just found your channel today. I've got a turkey breast in my instapot cooking to have for various dinners this week. One thing we love also is turkey or chicken salad for sandwiches. I'm wanting to redo my kitchen to make it more usable for making freezer meals. I hate spending $12 at the grocery for a frozen family meal. It's just ridiculous for just 2 people. I'm redoing my craft room upstairs now to become a multi purpose craft space rather than just a sewing space. And after I redo that I'm going to move to the kitchen/dining rooms to make them one large cooking area. You and Becky @ Acre Homestead make me want to get busy and do. Being disabled I can only do a little at a time but it will get done.
I'm glad you found our channel, welcome! :) We enjoy chicken salad sandwiches as well, soooo good. I love how you are expanding your kitchen area, way to go!
Everything looks wonderful! I have written down your pizza crust recipe. That's one thing my husband and I really enjoy so that will really come in handy. The burritos really looks good too, actually it ALL looks GREAT!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!
I have just discovered your channel and already I love it. You have such a calming influence about you. I am so impressed with your pizza dough recipes. You have motivated me to make more pizza dough and have it on hand. Everything looks so delicious. Keep up the good work.
Awww thank you 😊 I’m excited for you to try out the pizza dough and it’s sooo wonderful to have it in the freezer for quick meals. A big welcome to our channel ❤️
I am a new subscriber, I really enjoyed this video. I found myself feeling so relaxed. You are a very calm person and I appreciate that. Looking forward to more videos. Take care and God bless.
I just added the links to the buckets and lids :) Had so much fun chatting with you all during the live chat. Have a lovely weekend, friends!
I love that you are teaching folks to make a bechamel instead of canned soups
Yay! Thank you. It's way better then canned soups :)
Just a little tip...after shaping your patties, place them on a Parchment lined pan and freeze them 1st then place them in large zip lock bags and freeze them. It saves on all the extra wrapping and they stay well shaped. You can cook as many as you want from frozen.
Thank you, great tip :)
I love how you remind us to take breaks and not feel we don't deserve it when we work so hard to do for our family!❤
I’m so glad, because it’s true 🥰☝️❤️ and good for us to find that balance!
I'm swooning over all that gorgeous homemade bread! I have Celiac, and also have to eat low carb for health reasons, so I can only dream about it, lol! But Whew!

Grape tomatoes or chunks of red bell pepper would be good on your kabobs & add color too.

Daniela XX

So true 😂❤️ Thank you!! All good things for the freezer. Yummy 😋
Well said!
What a wonderful way to spend a warm afternoon! Your food looks so healthy and appetizing. I will be trying all of what you made today!
Thank you, dear! I'm really glad you showed up for the live chat. I really love this growing community of friends here, you are amazing!
Thanks for the great video on pizza crust. I definitely will give it a go! I love fruit pizza and now is the time😀
Yummy, fruit pizza is so good 😋
Great to share your cooing in the kitchen again, Did you make roast potatoes when you made Thanksgiving dinner? The stock looked fab, would be great for turkey noodle soup.. yummm thanks again
Mashed potatoes, turkey noodle soup does sound yum!
Sounds great!
So glad your video popped up for me today I loved it!
Yay 🙌 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
I make breakfast burritos and also beef & Bean burritos I like to heat mine up in the air fryer and let him get all toasty on the outside
Good idea using an air fryer :)
I’m so glad you are learning right along with me 🥰🥰🥰
Breakfast burritos look soooo tasty!!
Nothing like a seasoned, crispy 🥔 spud!
I would have a hard time not munching on them while building the burritos.
Thank you! I love a good burrito ❤️❤️❤️
Simply lovely😊❤.
