I absolutely love pencil skirts and they have been a staple of my work wardrobe for 20 years. I pair them with form fitting tops for a sleek look, loose and flowing tops for contrast, cozy cashmere sweaters for warmth in winter or button down shirts for a crisp professional look anytime of year. Alyssa always comes up with beautiful and creative ideas I never thought of, so I’d love to see her take on it. -Jen

At 69, I'm probably not your usual viewer, but I find your classic taste runs so true to what I love. This is an excellent video! I loved all the looks (on you as I can't show so much skin). I'd love to see you take on the very pleated trousers for summer. I have a pair of full puddle length (that also cuff nicely) beige linen, wide leg, pleated trousers (Marc O'Polo brand) that I purchased in Paris last year. I'm going back and forth to create enough looks with those to pack them for my month this year. Thanks!

Your good quality fast fashion trousers are a great reminder to always check a garment for quality, *as well* as fit and style before handing over your cash. I've been shocked by high end labels trying to flog poor quality pieces at grotesque prices (I"m looking at you tissue-paper thin merino pullover!) and almost as shocked by well made, well cut, well finished pieces at much more modest prices, from mid-range or budget range retailers. The point is to learn to assess quality and be prepared to walk away empty handed if what you're seeing just isn't worth your time, money and closet space.

Quince is new to me so I appreciate the tip 🙂 Meanwhile I got two merino cardigans from Uniqlo for $59 Canadian that still look near-new despite constant wear on my part all Fall and Winter. Knock on wood - no pills, no fuzzing, cuffs and hems still look great, buttons still firmly fixed on and not see through. I still shake my head imagining paying over $300 for the transparent merino pullover I saw at a luxury brand that was fuzzy and pilling just from the "wear" of being handled in store. Not even at half price, not even if you gave it to me.
Yes, I could not agree more. Years ago I learned a very hard lesson with an overpriced cashmere sweater that I bought online in three colors, only to find that they were thinner than I expected and they pilled ridiculously fast. They were then relegated to the loungewear category. Mighty expensive loungewear, and since then I’ve really been more judicious about inspecting garments in person or relying on online reviews that discuss quality over time, not just initial impressions. -Jen
Who else cracked up at the Cannoli t-shirt? 😂😂 Hilarious! Loved these many looks, especially the rock and roll one, and that periwinkle blue coat....WOW!! Perhaps a topic you can touch on in the future is: When does the coat (like the periwinkle or tan one) get decided on? I often get dressed only to find I don't have a coat that's right for the look. It'll be too short, too long, too boxy, too form-fit for the outfit underneath. Do you actually start with a coat and work 'backwards' to then decide what outfit you'll wear? Thank you Alyssa!
Black pants are an essential part of my wardrobe. If I suddenly lost my clothes and had to start over, I would get black pants and a black skirt. Love all your ideas ❤❤❤

You've given me a new perspective on black pants. (I was a bit Trinny re black ie 'only goes with black/grey...') I'd always felt black n blue / black n tan / black n white (not to be mistaken for your waiter tonight ) was good. And you've shown that. I'm getting that the tying in of an upper body colour to shoes/bag gives the harmony. As always, it's so good seeing your Nonna's scarf, your brocade jacket, B&W bag, caramel coat often. You put those black trousers to work, and I really like the idea of wearing the denim as just another color layer under a wool coat. I wore black trouser like a uniform for the office and now it a turn to give a casual twist. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.
There is no question (outside of jeans) black trousers are my most used and versatile piece in my closet! So thank you so much for all the inspo! I always keep them to more work looks so this gave me lots of casual ways to style them - now double the versatility and use!!! Also I’m still on the hunt for black and white flats like yours 😍 they are so great!

I loved them all but my favorite is how you can tak an outfit from casual chic to super sleek with just a few tweaks! The minimal summer then to the black bustier was everything.
I've loved all of them! Maybe, my favorite are the two for the office (with the blazer), the tan focused one and tan layered one.

I love these kinds of videos! I really loved the tan focal point outfit and I always appreciate your casual ideas with these more tailored pieces. As a graduate student I like to look nice but sometimes it can be exhausting. So much inspiration….because I live a casual lifestyle (live on a small farm and work part time in our construction business), I especially like the denim looks and graphic tees. Always enjoy these…encourages me to see what I can do with ONE item 😉

Omg that lavender coat - or blue - or periwinkle lol. I've been on the hunt for a second-hand wool coat but in an "easter-y" color. It helps to take the blahs out of March - my least favorite month of the year, when it's still cold and so very gray :P
