I'm always amazed at the way you pair clothing for different looks, you make me want to dress up all the time,I'll just pretend I'm going somewhere😂,thanks for a wonderful episode.
I agree. I wish I had a quarter of her ability to “see” things and ad lib. And the ability to know what vintage pieces are worth getting (if you’re lucky enough to find them thrifting) yet incorporate new pieces.
I used to do this in my 20's when I was into a lot of sports... Casual from the waist down (kayaking, biking, running, dog walking) and ready for dinner from the waist up (sitting)!! I just now have to mix it up a bit, but I was always drawn to wearing a bit of both as I am still very active. Who knew that's what I was doing? Now I can do it more consciously. Thank you for another wonderful video!
So funny how I was doing the exact same thing this week, pairing smarter looking clothes with more casual ones and loved the effect. At one time I put on a flowery, flowy maxi dress with boots and a trench coat then changed the shoes to pink sneakers and the coat into a short puffy vest and it looked so modern and chic at the same time I got so many compliments on the outfit. Since watching your videos I have created so many amazing outfits from just my regular old clothes, it really helps me not shop at all only from my closet. Thank you so much, you are such an inspiration!
I love this concept! I saw so many women practicing this 2 x 2 outfit formula in Paris last summer. I just didn’t realize that’s what it was or how to copy the look. Now that I know, I will definitely be implementing it with my wardrobe. Thanks!😊
I appreciate that you added those new pieces to your wardrobe with the intention of using them for a long time. Very true to your stated mission on this channel- cheers!
Wooow! I haven't heard of the 2x2 and I realise I've kind of been doing this already, only unconsiously! I love how you can get more wear out of the dressier pieces with this rule. And it keeps things fun! Thank you for another inspiring video!
You had me at Sezane! I just love everything you wore and how you wore it, please keep partnering with them, I love them and YOU are helping me with styling!
I’ve basically done this for yrs….didn’t know it would have a name one day. I just called it mixing and matching. I’d funk up/boho a pretty classic look. It’s always worked for me because I’m a little boho, but also traditionally classic for certain occasions. I guess I’ve always just been ME.
I thought of you many times when passing through the Sibenik area recently. With your help in these videos, I was able to pack lightly and enjoy my magical trip. You really take time to think things out and put a lot of 'behind the scenes' work into your presentations--thanks for another great one which will influence me greatly. Appreciate you!
Wow, I love all of these looks. I often take screen grabs to help me remember your ideas and then I imagine what’s in my closet that I can cobble together to re-create the look. Focussing on elements of style rather than specific pieces or even specific colors. You are so helpful! ❤
I love how you pair these things with so much thought. I covet that aqua mint? Cardigan! Definitely going on my list for winter add ones to closet. Sadly living in Houston stops those of us NOT having to dress for the super too cold AC in buildings from dressing like this. Totally the way I love to dress, but will have to move back to Canada. 😂Counting down the days for that! I would love to see you style some clothes for our average summer heat. ( 34-38C, 90-100.4 F). Stylish and polished and sweating just is not an easy task… thank you for your videos. They are superb!
Tried our this formula today. Got to wear a yellow linen blazer which hardly EVER gets worn ❤ Teamed it with a structured bag. Then loose summer trousers and flat sandals for a bit of casual... Felt great!
Great idea! Friday was my favorite. I was hoping you would pair the blue bag with it. The range of all the shades of blues reminded me of the ocean colors.
Thanks for the inspo! I just got this beautifull hand me down cardigan in mint green that doesnt really go with most if my closet and was struggling to wear it. Your "cardigan as a sweater" idea was just what I needed.
Absolutely great outfits, Alyssa. I just brought out my summer wardrobe as we're starting to have warm weather. Now I need to play with my clothes to put fresh new looks together.
love the styles! Would also like to see the styling on other body forms as surely many of us have different anatomies. Have some guests! That would be soooooo helpful.
@audreyredigolo7104 Have you seen where Alyssa films online styling sessions with different clients? usually two people per session. I believe these take place every three months or so, her subscribers are always invited, and a reasonable fee is charged. Generous women publicly open their closets, try on outfits, and discuss with Alyssa where and when they get stuck, or lack confidence in their choices. And Alyssa's audience get to watch and join in. Edit: just realised it's something you might even like to participate in!
So, I think the 2x2 does work, but really shines when the different elements are broken up: when the pieces were next to each other, it seemed you expressed more difficulty finding your desired vibe. Monday was my favorite, then Friday (THE COLOR OF THE SWEATER!), then Thursday. Also, I rarely get shopping itch re: bags, but that Milo bag… 😍
Oh, I love this. This is really my style - laid-back casual chic. It works for every occasion when you're unsure if it is dressy or not. I usually get it wrong. :) Most of my friends love a dress for a fancy party, but I've always loved the idea of a smoking suit, for example, with a sequined cami and pointed-toe shoe. I hated these cropped flared jeans when they hit the market, but I see now it is because I don't know how to style them! Thank you for your channel in general and your supportive messaging. We all deserve to be stylish.
Been eyeing the Milo bag for a while and I appreciate your observations on the structure and how it can dress up an outfit - perfect for jeans outfits! I think my favourite outfit is the Friday outfit with the Milo bag.
I think you're great. I'm a minimalist but I like to look elegant and chic. You've taught me a lot about putting together outfits that suit my style, blazer and jeans/trousers outfits in particular. Thank you for your help and the really useful and practical advice.😊
The brand collab using the same pieces!!Thank you so much Alyssa for staying true to your brand and continuing to encourage us away from overconsumption - still making a fun and fresh great new video.🥰
This is such a cool video! After 16 years of wearing scrubs to work every day, I am transitioning to office work and have to learn to wear clothes again. :) So, I am hitting up UA-cam for inspiration on how to find my style and how to put outfits together. I'm looking forward to trying this formula; it looks like fun. I love that you talked us through your though process with these outfits; very helpful in my learning process. :)
I really enjoyed this video Alyssa. It got me thinking about bringing in a pleasing balance of formal and informal into every outfit, and how that can sometimes be done just with the way things are styled! Shirt sleeves rolled up, or worn with the cuffs buttoned, simple things like that can change the vibe of an entire look! I love the way your content always gets me thinking more creatively! Merci 😘🙏
Hi Alyssa, Clever! Your Saturday night outfit reads like a (black) jumpsuit! It is a beautiful look on you with those wedge sandals! I would like to try this 2*2. The look with the boots also stands out for me! Sezanne has beautiful items! Xo Joanne
I think I am subtly influenced by your dressing philosophy. Shop my closet, polished/posh, and mix/match are what I have been doing since I found your channel:)
Super cute! I especially like and am surprised by the Sunday outfit. One thought I had is that a different sneaker would give a completely different vibe, like a pair of Converse or lace-up Vans would be even more polished but still casual. Maybe even smarter. Just a thought. Nice job!
This video was very inspiring to me. I suddenly realised it is how I have been dressing for quite sometime now! Not into tiktok at all though 😅 Beautiful clothing pieces that show just how versatile well chosen items can be. Loving the evolution of your wardrobe Alyssa 😍 Those clogs are so good! Thank you, excellent video 😊 🩵
My formula Step 1; 2x2 formula Plus Step 2; Acquire slim figure and lose my bust and bum which make everything I wear stick out like a tent. Next, grow a couple of inches taller. I’m 5’2 and have a natural BBL and 32F chest which makes nice clothing hard to find. Step 3; Acquire larger disposable income to invest in a wardrobe full of clothes I can shop from to compile such outfits. ( I have like 5 dresses. 1 skirt, and a couple of kimono cover up things. Can’t wear jeans or trousers as none on the highstreet were made that fit my difficult shape everything is in black/neutral so I can mix and match without it showing how little I have and how often I’m rewearing items. I also dress very conservative to keep everything covered up.) I’d love to find a style that suits me but have no idea where to begin. I have no idea how to dress my shape. I see all these tall, slim, straight bodies everywhere and to me they look so, good and so much more comfortable and I can only imagine how much simpler getting dressed would be and how much more confident I’d feel if I didn’t have so much ‘baggage’. Often, I think about the possibility of having reduction surgery for my ‘assets.’ Think a Kim k figure, but natural so I also have the chunky thighs to support it and my chest is stretch marked and floppy as opposed to sticking out like perfect balloons 😩 and it all wobbles without support. It literally blows my mind how people paid money and chose that for themselves while I’m over here desperate to shed them so I can find clothes that fit and feel good. I guess we all want what we can’t have but man, I need some help. Girls think I’m short and fat, and if I’m not with my husband guys just think it’s something they can grab. I just want to style some cool outfits. Maybe I should just get a doll… haha
I absolutely loved this video! It is so in line with my personal style and I love the way you paired everything together. brilliant and fun and relaxed. Thank you.
Really lovely looks, Alyssa! I'm feeling SO inspired to go into my closet and play. Here's to hoping Sezane expands their size range to include plus sizes in the future!

Honestly, their designs are great, but the quality of the clothes is so bad. I remember the first time I went into one of their real life stores and was appalled! It is fast fashion on a boutique budget. Really crazy!
Loved the concept and definitely want to try it! 😊 I noticed that you combined quite a lot of cool and warm colours in this video. What are your thoughts on combining the two and making it work?
I don't pay attention to it too much - i'll put it on and if it looks good, i'll go with it, and if something is off i'll see if the cool/warm tones are the issue! I think they work well together if they are in the same or similar hues like blue/turquoise if that makes sense!
@@sigriddjernaes Is it possible that her contrast levels & mix of personal colouring helps her get away with it? I imagine a low contrast Soft Spring would find it more difficult to pull off, for example?

Hi Alyssa, I loved most of the oufits. I especially like those Sezanne smart denim trousers. I don't think that the skirt outfit quite worked. With a green jumper, black skirt, navy bag and light tan boots I think it was just too many colours with nothing to pull them together. But loved the other outfits.

I love Sézane & it was so fun to see how you paired & sized their pieces - please continue this collab! I also have the Barry cardigan in that green on my Favorites list but wasn’t sure about the color until I saw it on you! We have very similar coloring, so I loved seeing not only that piece but your other outfits as well. New subscriber here & looking forward to checking out your other videos! 💕
I really love wearing pieces together that offer opposite juxtapositions. This was so fun to see your week of the formula. It’s so funny to watch this as I am Currently wearing Sporty -Boho with a ball cap and sneakers paired with a maxi skirt and crotchet colorful purse. I tucked a vneck cardigan worn as a top into the skirt in a fun aqua color which meets my style of loving color. Love the new Sezane pieces in your closet!
Thank you for being sustainable and not promoting overspending ❤

I tried it today! Jeans and sneakers with a nice shirt and a blazer.
Love this! And love the idea of 2 x 2, but I would be probably wanting to work with more pieces, I love to accessorise ❤
