Sangwoo got that survivor mentality. People might hate him for manipulating Ali and others but he is the most realistic character. Anyone who says they are not going to be like Sangwoo are either liars or has golden heart.
for the most part? absolute complete 100% legendary-tier . but when it comes to shoving that guy during the glass bridge game where they only made it to the other side with like 0.5 seconds to spare - yeah that was a legitimate self defense move. also, the glass bridge blew up because the timer reached 0, automatically, because if somebody hadn't made it across that would have been the epic moment when they would have been shown the consolation prize for patiently waiting behind everyone else.
Saebyuk looked like a mysterious badass in the beginning, a street kid who's had to steal and fight to take care of herself. By the end of the show, she looked like a small child, urging Gi-hun not to become what Sang-woo was. She was kind and young, and didn't deserve the struggles she endured. The show is brilliant in portraying both sides of her.
I'm pretty sure they made the glass platforms explode so that if the timer ends, whoever is left on the platforms doesn't still make it across. Doubt it was just for dramatic effect. Also yes, the pictures on the walls of all the games have been there the entire time, just hidden behind all the beds. There's a lot of cool facts that make a 2nd binge of the show still enjoyable
the glass exploding upwards instantly rips almost all viewers out of their suspension of disbelief, because it could have just.. dropped. WHAT made it EXPLODE up and TOWARD THEM?
There was a deleted scene that talked about how In-ho, Jun-ho's older brother, had been a police officer that had been corrupt, which was why he knew so much about police.
6:27-7:04 excuse me while i scream in excitement. i knew ange would notice that set design. this is why i've been waiting for this episode's commentary. i knew it! i knew it! i knew it! sorry this just made me so happy. this is why i love ange's commentaries. also the shapes are all "squid game" shapes (idk what to call that) like in the card, the gift etc.
When I saw the frontman was Lee Byung-Hun I had to pause the video and sit there like: Is it really who I think it is? My sister watched the series before me and kept that info away from me and I'm glad she did because that made it all more fun. I knew it had to be his brother when he was telling him that he can come with them and live. After watching it over and over again, I like to see other clues throughout the series that point in that direction.
When I was watching it with my brother, he recognized the Front Man's voice right away. But, when he asked ME who it was, it took me a minute to figure out it was Byung-Hun. However, it wasn't until the reveal that his character was the cop's brother. It TOTALLY shocked me!
Sang-woo was spitting facts. There was 20 seconds left and that guy showed no signs of moving even after they gave him the marble to test one of the platforms. Gi-hun says that they're only alive because of him, but that man only revealed his knowledge once he was at the front. He never volunteered to go first or help the other contestants when it was their turn, if they had been in front of him he wouldn't of helped them. As the guy said they've been trying to kill each other at every chance they get so why would he help them. And Sang-woo isn't lying when he said he's had to work his ass off to stay alive and make it through this game. He passed red light, green light by strategically hiding behind people since he noticed the motion sensor in the doll. He made it through the second game because he went out of his way to cleverly get information out of Sae-Byeok even though she had no intention of helping anyone and only told him because he capitalised on the fact that she's a North Korean defector and said he could help her if she told him. He was correct about needing as much physical strength on the team as possible for Tug of War, and they only survived in the end due to his last minute trick to make the other team fall. In the marbles game, he played a game of pure luck with Ali and lost when it came to that, so he had to use his own wits and quick thinking to come up with a convincing lie whilst also figuring how to get Ali's marbles off him, which he did by switching them out with rocks. It's a scumbag move but just like he said he had to work his ass off to survive that round, rather than someone winning off a marble game that was only up to luck. And for the bridge game, like he said if he hadn't of pushed that guy at the end, who's to say they would've all made it in time. Gi-hun only made it to the end on literally the very last second. If he had been 1 second later he would've been done for.
I agree with everything you said. My issue is that he pretended to be trustworthy when he wasn't. Do we want to live in a world we care about more about survival than integrity?
THANK YOU so late to this but the intense hate for sang woo is so forced to me, they're literally in a kill or be killed game, and they came back knowing that, sang woo played dirty but he did everything he could to survive - it feels like he's the only one who actually understands the game. and that doesnt even include the way others also are looking out for themselves (like you pointed out) but this doesnt seem to be morally judged nearly as severely as sang woo
Agreed. Rage rises. The time to mourn is when the rage subsides. It's why people use "rage" as an excuse in some murder trials. Straight up would have "Sang-woo'd" Sang-woo. Also, Squid Game was amazing. Anyone saying the things u mentioned at the end simply have different tastes than mine: bad. I highly recommend after seeing the final episode to watch "Pitch Meeting Squid Game" by Ryan George. It's hilarious and great. Especially the VIP bit.
13:06 Not only that, she KNEW Sang-woo was going to, and said she wanted to go home knowing the main guy would go try to get help. Se didn't want him to watch her die.
Ji-hon knows so much about police equipment because he was also a police. His file in episode 6 said he was a police officer fired from his job because of bribery.
Somehow it is so extremely satisfying to see someone else completely lose their mind over this show. I mean, I certainly did when I watched it. But I felt so content deep within my bones watching Ange abusing her poor desk chair as she proceeded to completely lose her mind. I feel ya, girl. The shortest episode, but probably the most satisfying reaction to watch so far.
Oh my gosh dude her reaction to the Front Mans reveal was Priceless with how she acted so Supprised (I Wonder if that's how people reacted to Vaders reveal) (AND THIS SHOW REFERENCED THE STAR WARS REVEAL WITHOUT A DOUBT)
Im honestly so amazed that this topic of sangwoo pushing him was justified or not. (please leave your comment below on what your thoughts are on this scenario) . my thoughts: the death of one instead of four does not mean that the murder is justified. i would think it awful to value human life as such that is as simple as numbers. So just because my favorite characters were kept alive in a “game they signed up for” doesn’t mean that the one who’s fallen wasn’t a death from wrongdoing. just my opinion (and honestly i have counter arguments for myself on this too bc i def see where people are coming from) but ya just wanted to share my pov too ! :) All in all. Sangwoo still stinks. but thats his character. hes broken. hes hurt. He did what “he had to do” for him to live. And ive never been and hopefully will never be in a position like that for myself to understand his pov. To say “I saved you two, if i didnt push him than all three of us would die and that would be worse” to justify you pushing that last man (whether on the right tile or not) is the big question i hope philosophy professors will use to open their lectures with.
He might have saved them from death, but he only cared about himself. There was no grater good in his motivation so as someone who knows jack shit about philosophy, he did him dirty. But at the same time the guy didn't help others either so it's really hard to judge
If you were in his position and you life was on the line would you die or be killed. Or fight and do anything to stay alive. I choose life. Also just watched squid game and this is my first tume watching your channel. It was an enjoyable watch so far.
Hey Ange, love your reviews! That glass shard was so unfair! They keep preaching how everything is supposed to be fair, but that was UNFAIR!! I'm not sure why there has to be only one winner. If it wasn't for the glass shard, everyone could have lived out the night, and then if Gi-hun and Sae-byoek formed a team and beat Sang-woo, they would both have passed all six games and then I think there has to be two winners.
Gi-hun was the one that said he was gonna move, Sang-Woo said “how are you so sure?” Everything you argued about in the first few minutes is a fallacy. Sang-Woo said they’re alive because he pushed him. He never justified himself as saying being a good person. And the glass guy was an idiot. If he knew how to tell the difference, he could’ve shared that with number 1, and then all 16 of them would’ve been alive.
I mean, for all the glass guy knows the more people die before him, the more money he gets, so if he can get people killed while getting himself guaranteed to live, the better for him. I'm not saying he did the right thing, just that I don't think calling him an idiot is suitable.

This and My Name were my favorite Korean dramas this year and both have twists. Some you can figure out, some out of left field but those twists are what make a great show.
So idk if you noticed but when In ho offers to let his brother come back and live, he's still wearing the mask. He only takes the mask off to let his brother "find" him after he's decided that he's going to kill him. If you remember back a few episodes, he even said, "Once they see your face, you're dead." So, on the one hand, it was terribly manipulative to basically give Jun ho everything he wanted and then kill him, but on the other hand, the last thing he saw before he died was his brother's face. Are you crying yet? Just me? Mmkay. Oh and also Gihun saying that he wants to be a proper dad to Saebyeok, whose father died in the beginning of the series, as she's dying like :,) He had already adopted her and no one can tell me any different. Anyway looking forward to the next ep lol
When you were hating on Sang-woo almost from the beginning and I already knew what he'd pull in episodes 6-8, I was like "Honey, you got a big storm coming." I had a feeling of how you'd react to this episode and was not disappointed in the slightest >:) I've also started checking out Lee Byung-hun's other work. So far only seen Joint Security Area and I Saw the Devil, but I liked both.
Several months have passed and it still amazes me how there are people who really don't know why the glass platforms exploded. There is a timer and if the time runs out, those who are still on the platform lose, that's why the glass explodes.
For the shortest episode, it had some of the biggest moments. The front man reveal feels so obvious in hindsight, but the games make you forget about it. I hated Sangwoo, but also struggle with whether I think he’s wrong for what he did. Saebyeok’s death is easily the second toughest for me, after Jiyoung’s, and the pain in Gihun’s face makes it even worse.
I knew the front man was his brother since they found the body with his ID. He was looking at it for a few seconds too long, like he knew him, like he just couldn't believe it.
The amount of screaming I did when she just pulled it out NEVER PULL OUT OBJECTS STABBED INTO YOU *that is when you bleed out!* and it was glass ffs she could have broken the part sticking out off or something god damn it
2:40 in that situation, everyone would be terrified, they all did what they had to do, sang woo is smart, if he didn’t move all 4 of them would have died, in that situation, we all would’ve done the same since our lives were on the line.
The Glass Panels blew up on the bridge because that's how anybody who was still on the bridge were going to die...from falling. I guess it was on a timer? IDK...Great Reactions BTW!
I think they blew up the glass to eliminate people that couldn`t approach the finish line after time ran out. That`s why three of them got shards because they touched the finish line vesry close to end time.
Sang Woo is the only one who signed up for the game knowing he is not there to make friend but win the money, all of them has reasons why theyre there and why they should keep hustling to win, all of them are worth fighting for at whatever cost the only wrong thing that he did was give up at the end which at least told him that he values and trust Gi Hun so much to help achieve his purpose in the end (making all his actions beforehand in vain) and knew he could never live with himself to kill his friend for a purpose (help Sangwoo's mom) that also Gi Hun could do for him.
there was actually a clever clue to who the actor was who played The Front Man. Remember in episode 6 when the girl who was partnered with Sae-Byeok said about having drinks on the island( I cannot remember the drink she mentioned or the island name) anyways that is a title of a film that the actor who played The Front Man starred in, he is also a huge film star having starred in some hollywood films in played Storm Shadow in Gi Joe. So it was a huge risk keeping their biggest star masked the entire time and not having him be visible on the promotion material
I know right, like sure the things he does are atrocious, but if your life is on the line the majority of people would do anything to make sure they make it out alive
That's why I think the glass exploded. To make the survivors fall on a glass bridge after a timeout. If I had reached the finish line a little faster and moved on, I don't think there could have been any injuries caused by the shards of glass.
After you're done it might be fun for you to check some of the behind the Stuff or interviews on your own time. The actors are some of the most down to earth people
Literally 70% of everyone I know keep telling me Sang-woo is justified and he's a realistic player. And I keep telling them: That's great guys, but news flash-- I still hate him.
and sang woo realized they had no intention of allowing more than one person to leave with that money. they all should have realized that the only way they're leaving with that money is if every other contestant dies.
I don’t like sang woo but I do think that pushing the guy was justified. It didn’t look like the player was planning on moving and even if he was going to move I don’t think they would have all made it through. He still would have had to stand up and pick which side he would choose. Sangwoo and possibly sae byeok would have made it but gihun wouldn’t have.
What are your genuine thoughts on Sangwoo! Let's break him down:
Hi
Sangwoo got that survivor mentality. People might hate him for manipulating Ali and others but he is the most realistic character. Anyone who says they are not going to be like Sangwoo are either liars or has golden heart.

Hard agree ESPECIALLY on that last point. Sang-woo might’ve almost killed Gi-Hun in the dalgona game, but he saved his life in the bridge game.
Absolutely agree with u!! Most reactors including her failed to understand this facts!

my thoughts: the death of one instead of four does not mean that the murder is justified. i would think it awful to value human life as such that is as simple as numbers.
I'm surprised u didn't recognize Lee Byung hun (Front Man actor)
I think I'm gonna have to stop doing my university work to watch this instead....
there was actually a clever clue to who the actor was who played The Front Man.
Lee Byung Hyung's appearance was sick
Best reactions on youtube.
shmurder needs to be added to a dictionary immediately lol
YES FINALLY IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
There's a 46% chance that jun-ho survived that gunshot
Love it 🥰 🔥💯 your reaction
People hate on SangWoo, but he is the most relatable character in the show. MOST people are like him when shit hits the fan
I know right, like sure the things he does are atrocious, but if your life is on the line the majority of people would do anything to make sure they make it out alive
Almost done! Can't wait to see yur reaction to the least episode!!
All these squares make a circle. All these squares make a circle - TFS' Mr Popo
The actors are some of the most down to earth people
Honestly I would do the same as sangwoo to escape with the money and decrease the amount of people To go against
i live for this series ange, i really do
Frustration claps! 😂😂
wheres the next episode ???
Literally 70% of everyone I know keep telling me Sang-woo is justified and he's a realistic player. And I keep telling them: That's great guys, but news flash-- I still hate him.
Inho (Frontman) was also a policeman, but I don’t know What happened That he wasn’t anymore.
those pictures of all the games were on the wall since episode 1. sad no one competing put 2 and 2 together
Great Reaction!!! Almost over!!
It was always coming down to one winner in the end. I think they counted on the exploding glass to hurt someone badly.
Are you still reacting to walking dead? 🙂 just wondering
Who we thought was the villain = Deok-Su
Who was the real villain = Sang-Woo
Who was the true canon enemy = Capitalism
So sorry I'm late but 1 more episode Ange let's go can't wait for the final episode
They were indeed but covered by the beds but as the players stared to get eliminated it well slowly started to get reviewed and exposed
Jun-Ho is still alive.
Of course he was justified. The whole point is to be the last one standing.
Angelina the lat episode is crazy
sang woo pushed that guy and the 3 of them made it with one second left. so if he waited one more second for him to jump, all of them would have died.
and sang woo realized they had no intention of allowing more than one person to leave with that money. they all should have realized that the only way they're leaving with that money is if every other contestant dies.
They broke the glass bc when the time is out they make sure the last people die
I don’t like sang woo but I do think that pushing the guy was justified. It didn’t look like the player was planning on moving and even if he was going to move I don’t think they would have all made it through. He still would have had to stand up and pick which side he would choose. Sangwoo and possibly sae byeok would have made it but gihun wouldn’t have.
Can't wait to watch
This series made me subscribe. Please finish Squid Game and Arcane, my two favorite series of this year.

but that last guy had to make the move in just over a second base on the time left when Gi-hun made it to the platform.
Sae Byeok!!! 😭😭
