Citroen / Peugeot defective tailgate / hatch fix

Defect: The tailgate pops open (not just unlock) whenever the central locking system is acctivated requiring owner to go and close the tail gate.
Problem: button
Fix: replace button door or diy plastic

Glad it helped you out with a rough idea. Affordable spare parts can be found online and is better than a patched up spit and ducktape job to simply replace the button ^_^

Thank you, well explained! I fixed it at a friends car using foam (PU) instead of the broken plastik springs.

Glad you liked it. Hope to help the owners that have this problem find out why the probem appears..
Those foam pads put by some shop in the past failed after a time passed.
So best is to replace unit with a functional one and understand why it doesn't work.
Some places may confuse this problem with the wiring harness problem and after trying to fix that, of course, this won't get solved because the little door hinges is the problem.

Exactly the thing I have! My switch works but the plastic handle doesn't return back to normal. I solved the problem (of always pressed button) by inserting a thin peace of (kitchen) spunge like 3mm thick between those 2 plastic peaces. It served as a spring and it can't be broken. I didn't have to dismantle anything, just remove that small peace of thin plastic on the handle, put a little peace of thin spunge and return it back.

so in case the handle works but the button in the car or remote are not work ?

Not sure what problem you have.
The car doesn't have button in car or remote to open trunk/hatch.
If you mean the unlock button in the center console not unlocking the trunk/hatch, then the problem is with the wires at the top where they enter the car. That is know defect and was official recall to replace the rubber wiring harness and repair broken wires.
