your video is great and very useful but why not show how to change the old key into the new housing as this would be more helpful than having to take to a locksmith to have the key cut ?
Hi John. That is a good question. The blade is held in tightly with a small pin. Sometimes this can be very difficult to get out. If you hit the new key about too much, the plastic piecec that keeps the key working breaks, and then you have a new broken key!. Also, another problem is that sometimes, the old blade will not fit into the new case. This is because it is an aftermarket part. This is why we say cut the key. I hope that makes sense
I found a solution, all you have to do is punch out the little pin that connects the blade to key assemble, do the same a replacement unit, switch the blade over and you're done. Got a replacement unit online for under 5 USD and it took 5 minutes to do once I figured it out.
@@lordkered I know!! I've got an issue with a Peugeot 207 key fob where the pin has somehow fallen out of the fob which means the key falls out and bloody car dies! I'm a key worker so need my car to be reliable, thank god I found this video because I've watched a few and found them confusing.

@@TJ-fg3vs You'd think a "key" worker (we used to call them locksmiths) would be able to fix their key problem.
Could you tell me which component is the immobilizer on the Peugeot 307 SW key? (2 button CE 0536). I once have seen a KIA key and there the immobilizer is a small separate component, which is not mounted onto PCB. But the Peugeot looks like it has the immobilizer soldered onto the PCB. There are two PCBs (from one and the other side). Which one is it? if i buy a key PCB and i swap the ICs will it start my vehicle? Thank you
Just the vid i needed. One question. Before i get the new key cut, can i put the old key in the ignition & turn to just before start & then put the new key near the old one & press a button on the new key for 10 seconds. Will this still program the new key. Thanks
Easy way to change the key part over is by taking the small metal pin out of the end of the key which separates the main key from the body key which is connected to the fob.. Swop over and replace the pin, job done! Simples and no need to get the fresh key cut....
+wackokid Hi, yes we've found a problem with doing this. When the pin is punched out, quite often, the thin plastic that is used in the hinge are breaks, just as in the video. This is why we think it's worth paying to get the blade cut
wackokid Yeah that's if they Key Fob that's faulty & the Replacement have the connection to release & reconnect the key which mine unfortunately doesn't. D'Oh!
I have no problems with my Citroen/Peugeot key fobs. I had a 406 1999 for 8yrs and the fobs were still in good condition when I gave the car to my sister (completely destroyed 9 months later!) I had an XM 1994 till last year and again no problems with the fobs. I have a Citroen C5 tourer 2011 still on the original battery and the spare fob is unused. I think people are just too ham handed with their stuff these days.😉 Nice video.
Ps, Even now & that was 5 days ago that I finally got it all sorted, I still find that my Physical Key is just too prone to being sprung open accidentally whether it's in my pocket or being put down onto a table to the extent that when I'm finished driving for the day & I've closed the Key over & it's clicked into place, I use a small elastic band & wrap it just tight enough to stop the Key from opening. I went from a quote of £150+ to £200 from an official Peugeot Key Maker & Repairer to £11.50 in all total spent. I was fortune though (if you can call it that) in that I had everything I needed with regards to switching everything over. I'd hate to think if I'd lost the Physical Key or the circuitboard had been trashed! As I, like most other's out there would've been looking down the barrel of a very pricey repair. A Quick word of Advice. Keep your car key/fob separate from the rest of your keys as I'm pretty sure that the weight from many keys hanging over the side of these side attached keys didn't & won't help you in the long run as they're not built strong enough to last. This to me is one of the main reasons for a lot of the problems with these particular key & combined alarm fobs. The button to release the Key protrudes out way too much & the design (on mine anyway) is just poorly executed. If the Physical Key sprung open in the middle section (rather than from the side) of the unit then the weight distribution would be a lot better but since it's at the side all the weight immediately adds to the the obvious problem of thrse flimsy made key/alarm fobs.
Thanks for all info Paul and well done on perservering. The have now changed the design of the key so hopefully, this problem will filter away eventually. We'll be keeping our eyes out to see what the new ones are like ;-)
Hi Cameron. Thanks for watching the video. The piece that broke is part of the case moulding. It holds in place the spring mechanism and blade. So if that piece breaks the case is no good, the spring, button and blade all have to be replaced with a new case. Is that what you mean?
@@TheCarKeyMan Ok thanks. I got boards with integrated transponders for my 206 key which has a separate one originally but they didnt work. (Not from you).
I was so hoping you were going to show how the key/button/spring assembly goes back together. My case accidentally popped open. No parts are broken and I have all parts but I can't for the life of me get it to go back together. I have another one that I'm tempted to take apart so I can see how it works but am terrified I may not get THAT one back together properly.
Hi, the assembly is supposed to be held in place by the thin piece of plastic that gets broken. Once these keys have been in bits, they need a new case long term. You can sometimes get them together, but they don’t last
Great vid, I managed to replace the key. I used the original button with the new spring because the new one didn't fit (I may had ordered the wrong part haha), but once I figured out how the part and spring action worked (turn anti clockwise just 180°) then turn to secure, it only took minutes to do the second key. Tip use long nose pliers, it makes it so much easier. The new case didn't come with the Citroen logo, so I gently took it off the original then super glued it on.
I have a 207 and seem to have successfully put the old blade into a new 2 button case from ebay. But no go with the door buttons or achieving reintialisation. I have tried with the original and new circuit board using the new battery that came with the case. Any clues or tips.
Hi John. Thanks for watching the video. There's a really simple test. Put the key in the ignition, turn it on (but don't start it ) and press any button for ten secs. Then turn off the ignition, take the key out but hold it really close to the ignition. Do the key buttons work?
Great video thanks. I’ve replaced case and transferred the blade from old to new - exact swap - buttons aren’t responding. Buttons where working and all click nicely. Working fine to open doors ands use with blade but the buttons aren’t responding, I’ve changed the battery twice to make sure its not the battery, looks like both contacts are connecting with the board. Any Ideas what could be wrong?
Hi Charles, these keys are a nightmare. If it was working fine in the old case, then it's most likely the connectors, although it's just trial and error moving the to get it to work
I am having the exact same problem, I did notice on the vid that although it was a two button the same as mine the battery contact pad on his circuit board was far bigger than the two little pads mine has, I am guessing that on the after market case the battery contacts don't line up with the board once you click it together, hope that makes sense!.
The problem is that just about everything car key related is made in China. Instead of a company making a really good quality case, everyone is trying to make it cheaper. I would recommend finding a local car key man that can fix it, that way you won't be wasting money on cheap nasty cases. We charge £36 to do this for local customers, just to give you some sort of idea.
I have a citroen C4 gran picasso that occupies a 3-button remote, I need to change it, can I telecode another remote that is 2 buttons and not 3 like the original? Thanks
Hi, I have a Peugeot 207 and have replaced the key casing and battery. I can still only open the door and start the car manually. I have followed the instructions for reprogramming, both buttons click but im not convinced a signal is being emitted, Is there anyway I can check if it is emitting a signal.
Hello there. Well we have a small box that lights up when a signal is being transmitted. Most good key cutting shops should have one, or they are quite cheap. I found this video very useful, thank you 👍 Previous owner lost the remote key for peugeot 308 (2012) so I got only the manual one. How do I find the right remote key on internet (because I dont know what it looks like)? Please answer, thank you very much 😊,
Well it can be tricky, plus it will need cutting and coding with a computer. My advice is to find a good Auto Locksmith to help you with this. Ask at your local garage who lok after your car, see if they have a number of someone they trust
Hi, Any ideas for this. I had a key fob die so I replaced teh battery. Now it will not unlock/lock the car. I have followed various videos on holding the lock button in the ignition etc. The central locking button still works in the car so I am unsure if the fob is dead? The came came with a spare but that's also never worked! Apprecaite it
I bought a replacement case for my C3 when the case broke. But the old blade is flat and the new one grooved on its edge. Will that work? Or do I need another one that's flat on the blade edge? It's just the key blade that snapped on the plastic hinge casing like in your video.
Hi Rob, well you could swap the blade from the old case into the new one. The only thing with this is that sometimes the tang is different and you need to do a bit of filing. However, you can't get the groove key cut to fit your lock, it won't work and may get stuck
Brilliant video m, just wish I watched before purchase I checked the code on my key which is 0536 and the VA2 blade however my battery housing is where the battery is connect to the board and not the fob housing🤷♂️ the only fob I can locate is the 0523 which would work however the blade is the HU83 blade. Can’t find anything anywhere to match this. Any help would be appreciated
Hi Gavin, sorry I stopped seling the cases because the quality of them isn't always great, plus sometimes the battery connectors need to be adjusted. Lastly, when you try and swap the blade over, quite often the tang will not fit into the new case. Overall, a bit of a nightmare.
Hi, I purchased a Peugeot 1007 1 week ago. The car works fine buy the 4 Button Key Fob fell apart in my hand on the same night I bought it which I was not happy about to say the least. The Dealership said the usual albino of its not our fault as it was working when we gave you the Fob which was partly true. It worked but the Key would never close or stay open & I thought I'd get away with that until I could get it replaced. Little did I know that it would be within a few hours that mine would come apart. Dealership want nothing to do with me (which I figured & won't be back) so I order a New Replacement Key & Fob from the Internet. It arrived today & I'm pleasantly surprised to find it only tool a few minutes to switch the circuitboard out & into the New one but what I'd like to know is, Would it be worth my time to get the Blank that came with it cut as so many people on the Forums have had mixed results with this issue. I'm happy to have use a separate Fob to operate my alarm/immobiliser but im wondering is it worth cutting the Blank. My system is similar to the one you showed where the battery is connected to the circuitboard. Is there anything else that I'd need to switch over with the New Key Blank if I was to get it cut as when I looked further after putting my circuitboard into the New Fob it looked like a small magnet had been tapped in into a small rectangular box. Now I don't know if that was to add the Key in staying in the open position as it was at the top portion of the Key Fob. Any feedback would be appreciated. Like any car owner I'd prefer to have a spare key if possible but if I'm just going ruin Blank Third Party Keys then there's no point. Ps I couldn't agree with you more with regards to these Key Fobs at the start of your video. I too have never liked them, they're infamous for breaking & falling apart so easily so why then do manufacturers of these cars still continue to use this method as no one will go to their Official Dealers of whatever their car is & cough up (which I was quoted from an Official Peugeot Parts Distributer) £200 unless your rolling in money & no one that's driving any Peugeot or lower priced car whether it's New Or Preowned is going to be that flush. It's such an annoying fault that could easily cost an everyday person alot of money in fares getting to work and back when one of these eventually goes. Car manufacturers really need to come up with a better system as this is geared towards fleecing people who depend on their cars on a day to day basis to get to work. Lets say as a nurse who cant afford a brand new car or in fact does buy a brand new car but finds themselves in the same predicament at some poibt down the line with regards to my car key fob breaking as this is what happens to all of them. How am I meant to feel if I can't get to work on a day to day basis to look after the sick and elderly because Car Manufacturers don't want to build these Fobs to last & when they do go it cost an arm & a leg & no pun intend. It pisses me off that they never think of the consequences of these things breaking so easily. On last thing I've noticed is my Original Key doesn't have a groove down the side but the Third Party One Does will that make any difference! Thanks.
I've just looked further into what it was that looked like a small magnet stuck in at the top of my Fob was indeed the car Key Transponder. Just as well I didn't through that out. Top tip keep ever part from your old or broken Key Fob until your 100% sure you've got everything you need to get everything to work & even then it won't hurt to keep it just incase you've missed something else & let's be honest it won't be taking up too much drawer space.
Hi Paul Thanks for watching the video. Firstly, the blade. The two different types of blade are not interchangeable and it will not go into you ignition properly. So there is no point having it cut. Because your battery in connected to the circuit board, you have the easier type to fix. When you have the correct case, just get the blade cut and you are good to go. I'm not sure why you would have a separate transponder in the key, because the green circuit board has a chip built into the circuit. Does it start without the small transponder by it?
Thank you for the speeding reply. I haven't got round to trying it without the transponder as I was just wanting to use the casing to open the doors & alarm & unalarm my car. My 4 Button Key Fob wasn't in as bad a shape as the ones in your video but it goes to show you now fickle they are. The only thing I noticed which I didn't pay much heed to was the blade wouldn't close or stay in the open position, it just flopped around & I think thats what has finally caused it to go but I can honestly say I didn't bend it in anyway thar could've caused this. To me it's been a case (excuse the pun) of the Dealership have known it was on its last legs but weren't going to shell out on a replacement which is just being cheap. It's not as if I was going to ask for them to replace it with an Official Peugeot Key Fob Replacement as I was quoted anything from £150 to £200. So I can understand their hesitation in doing this but in the long run its costs them a repeat customer as I won't be going back anytime soon. If they'd done what I had I would've been more than happy & grateful as it's a bit of a crap shoot when ordering one of these from the Internet. I made sure I knew what the inside of mine looked like & ordered from a site that had one thar looked like the inside of mine. Now you'll know yourself that it's not until you've got it & then replace the innards, if it indeed was the one they were advertising & thankfully it was. It works a treat & I'm keeping (for now anyway) my Key & Transponder in the old casing which i've secured as best I can will black electrical tape. That's why I was asking if it was worth my while getting the New Blank Cut!. The part only cost £5.99 & I'll be making sure to them verbally & in a written review that for that small cost they still would've had yet again another repeat buyer but their attitude has ruined it & I'll move on to some one else. It's not as if I come from today's society of Give Me Now & Throw Ir Away attitude. I grew up working on cars & i have a healthy knowledge of them so I knew when to let the issue of a loose Key Fob slide but to completely blank a customer is wrong anyone's book so to potential buyers out there have a good look at your Key Fob before purchasing your car as without that your going nowhere fast. A harsh lesson I've learned & thats to do as i say in future but i was in such a hurry i jusr took it as in but thanks to helpful people like yourself it makes it less of kick in the teeth. I'll try it without the transponder as your saying my circuitboard should have it built into it! I have another 4 Button Key Fob coming from China but I order the one I received today as that one was going to take up to 25 days to arrive & with the old Fob fast deteriorating by the day I decided to order one that looked similar to the one coming from China. Ok if i can steal your patience & time for one more moment I would like to ask you what would be my best option as ideally I'd like a key & a fob combined & a replacement should that go in time eventually. Who would you recommend & what type of blade would best suit my needs. Thank you for your helpful video & your helpful & keep up the good work. I'm guessing I showed go with a key blank that doesn't have the groove in it & I need to make sure the inside matches mine. You know what thst should be simple but as I've found with buying over the Internet you just don't know what you've got until it arrives & this is why I prefer to purchase from a qualified seller who's based in a shop that I can go into & look at the merchandise then & there but those shops are getting thin in the air these days especially if your looking for a Key Fob as I've found that the only people that have them are the official sellers & for me that would be Peugeot & they're not going to be cheap. You know I would mind paying if it was reasonable but at the prices they're charging is day light robbery & they know it. My apologies for the long reply but I know of no other way to shorten down what I have to say in this short abbreviated text society of the c u l8r mate types. Again Thank & Keep Up The Good Work.

Hi, I've been sent a case with the battery holder in the case, which doesn't correspond to my original key, which had the battery on the circuit board. Can I just pull the battery holder out and proceed? Thanks
@@TheCarKeyMan appreciate the reply! I can send it back for a refund, but it looks like it's otherwise Identical to my case. As well as the metal connectors, there's also so plastic brackets to hold the battery too, which may risk clashing with the circuit-board battery though..
@@fleurn0 Get some long nose pliers and pull the battery stuff off the case - you don't need it. You probably need to cut off some location pins also because they will be in the wrong place. I did this and all now works fine!

+Dean Moss Hi Dean. Thanks for watching our video. If the key stops opening and closing the door, there's normally three reasons. The first is the battery, which just needs replacing. The second is that if battery is held in the case, the metal prongs don't always make the correct contact with the green circuit board. Lastly, sometimes, the key needs re-synching with car. Just put the key ignition, turn it in but don't start it. Then press either button for 5-10 secs. Remove the ignition and hopefully it will work :-)
Hi there. I'm sorry, but if the key has been coded to a different car previously, then it cannot be re-coded to your car. It's a stupid idea making them only programmable once, such a waste and terrible for the environment. :(
Hello Key man, i have a problem, i open my peugeot car key, and dismantle the blade and the button with the spring, the problem is that now i cannot put it all together, and i dont want to buy a new case, you have any video or any help to do this?
Hi Tomas, unfortunately not. If the blade, button and spring all come away from the plastic, then it's already broken. With the new cases, it is all sealed in together.
@@TheCarKeyMan not strictly true sir, I bought a new case with blade and in replacing the blade, the (new) button and spring came apart into 4 parts and I'm into 4th hour of trying to piece it back together.
Good Video but although there is mention of the types there is no pointer as to where to get the OEM housing from. If you buy a case off the net that is not OEM locksmiths refuse to cut the keys by stating the metal is wrong, ie too soft.
Hi Michael. Thanks for watching the video. As far as I know OEM housings are not available, you can only buy the complete key. If you know where you can get them please let me know because we'd buy some. As for cutting keys, we'll cut cases from ebay, as long as they are correct for your car. The reason alot of people won't is that if they mess it up, and don't have them in stock, they have messed up your key!
Yes; also you will see on that same page empty shells catalog. They say they produce the flip case to the original manufacturers spec. Page 16 flip keys cat, gives you the key type and P5 of the shells gives you the Citroen shells. I am not in the trade, but presume you would be able to buy from them.
Hi Michael. In our experience, these cases are of variable quality. We have never found a case with the same pad quality as the OEM case. To say it is OEM quality, when talking about keys, is very brave. So, we do local repairs in Lincoln, but wouldn't send these out for a couple of simple reasons Firstly, where the battery is in the case, it relies on the battery contacts to touch the gold pads on the green circuit board. Sometimes they don't line up and the key will not transmit. With some simple adjustment it can normally be solved, but when people buy on-line, they quite rightly expect it to just work straight out of the box. The next problem is that in order for the circuit board to be in the correct position, the OEM case has small rubber lugs. However, the replacement cases can sometimes have lugs in a different position and this can cause a few issues. So when we say you cannot buy OEM cases, that is correct. The 'OEM quality' cases are not always correct. I hope this is clear and helpful and thanks for the comments
what about the responders RFID chips?? This is what made me throw the old case away ... and now my car doesnt start ... Peugeot 1007 ... it was not your training movie ... but some one else`s ... ITS SO IMPORTANT NOT TO THROW THE OLD PLASTIC CASE AWAY BEFORE YOU HAVENT MADE SURE THAT THERE IS NO RESPONDER / RFID CHIP INSIDE GUYS
Hello. Oh No! When you swapped it over it should have just started. On a 1007, the chip is normally part of the green circuit board. However, if this is faulty, some people take out the RFID chip from the spare key and put it into the central locking key. I wonder if this is what has happened? Did you find someone to fix it ok?
not yet but I've found Arnold key on the board and this one had a transponder which is a black little unit of cubic form.. about 10 millimeters length and 3 millimeters in diameter stucking separated from the board in the plastic keyframe. When I called the car service they could not even access the board Computer.
Good morning, this is one of the oldest videos on the channel. At the time I made it to just show the roblems and help show the difference in the different cases etc. The main thing with this repair is if possible, get the blade cut instead of swapping the blade over. Every week we see new cases that have been damaged because the blades have been swaped over. This causes the new blade not to flick out
hello, i have change only the case because my buttons were broken. I also change the battery. Now the problem is that the key buttons only works very very close to the car lock (2 or 3 inches). Any cheap solution? Peugeot 307
Hi, we see this alot. I don't know why this happens. It seems to be that the range of the key gets really low because of a fault in the key. I've not found out why it does it, but will research and let you know. We always have to supply a new key to fix the problem
Hello Polex. Do you mean swap the blade? There are two good reasons that instead of swapping the blade, you should get it cut. The first reason is that the 'tail' of the key, the piece that goes into the hinge or key holder is often not compatible with teh new case. This means that you take the blade out of the old key and it does not fit into the new key. the more important reason is that you remove the blade by knocking out a very tight pin. When you do this in the case, unless you are very careful, it will split the black plastic and damage the new case. This is the reason we don't show. We made this video and had I made it again, I would include this information. Sorry
Guys, I know the solution to changing the blade, the blade is attached to main key via small piece of metal, if you have ever changed links on a metal wristwatch you'll know what I'm talking about. The blade is just connected by a little pin that you can punch out with a very small tool and do the same with the replacement key unit, switch the blade over and done, you don't even have to open anything. The pin is a B*tch getting back in, but the blade sits in so much friction anyway I wouldn't bother.
Hi Oscar, thanks for the com. The reason we don't recommend the blade swap is that sometimes the new case gets damaged when knocking out the pin. The plastic inside the key is so thin that if you're too rough it splits and the case is no good. But I appreciate the feedback, I made this video so long ago now!
Hi Steve, Just an update with regards to my Peugeot 1007 4 Button Key Fob breaking. After double & triple checking that the replacement 4 Button Key fob that I was ordering off the internet matched mine from the inside & out, I ordered it. Thankfully it worked a treat with regards to holding my circuitboard which operated my front sliding doors, also the alarm & immobilser. Only bug bear was having to carry 2 Button Key Fobs. One key fob to alarm open doors & one to hold my Key & Transponder. Now the one holding my Key & Transponder was the original one so it was in a bad way & i wanted to switch the Key & Transponder on to & into the working one. When I looked at the Key & how it was attached to the swing arm mechanism of the original I originally thought it was held on by a very small (the smallest of) Hex or Allen Key but it turned out to be held on by a very small pin. Fast forward to popping into my local hardware & key making store & after explaining what I wanted him to do it was finally removed from the original busted one & firmly fixed onto my new & in working order 4 Button Key Fob. Everything that was from the original including the Physical Key/Transponder/Circuit board & Battery was successfully moved onto & into the one I ordered from the internet at a very affordable price of £11.50 & the joy of only carrying one instead of 2 of those 4 Button Key Fobs. If your patient enough & do the research you can get these annoying key & remotes changed over if your willing to take the time to track down the correct replacement & you don't allow yourself to be talked into paying more than you need to with regards to switching the keys over, then it will be cost effective way of doing this. I still say that the manufacturer's of these combined key & alarm etc fobs need to look into another way of making these as the current format is just too prone to wear & tear & breaking when you least expect it.
Hi Rob, when you get a new case, the silver button is help in place and there's no need to build a key press system. There's no point in which the silver button is supposed to come out and be put back in. If it gets to that point, the key is too far gone I'm afraid. Is that what you mean?
Hiya. I’m too having problems locating the correct key case for the type with the battery on the circuit board. We’re you ever successful locating a replacement? Andy

your video is great and very useful but why not show how to change the old key into the new housing as this would be more helpful than having to take to a locksmith to have the key cut ?
This is as cryptic as the video. Just punch it out!

Thanks
Great Video..the blade on my fob has gone floppy; it won't engage in the case..spring seems ok but the lugs have disappeared..is there a fix please?
Easy way to change the key part over is by taking the small metal pin out of the end of the key which separates the main key from the body key which is connected to the fob.. Swop over and replace the pin, job done! Simples and no need to get the fresh key cut....
+wackokid Hi, yes we've found a problem with doing this. When the pin is punched out, quite often, the thin plastic that is used in the hinge are breaks, just as in the video. This is why we think it's worth paying to get the blade cut
The Car Key Man yes I agree in a way but if you take your time and don't bash the hell out of it then it's possible :)
wackokid
Yeah that's if they Key Fob that's faulty & the Replacement have the connection to release & reconnect the key which mine unfortunately doesn't. D'Oh!
Are there any pictures og movi which showing how to replace the key? 😊
I have no problems with my Citroen/Peugeot key fobs.
I had a 406 1999 for 8yrs and the fobs were still in good condition when I gave the car to my sister (completely destroyed 9 months later!)
I had an XM 1994 till last year and again no problems with the fobs.
I have a Citroen C5 tourer 2011 still on the original battery and the spare fob is unused.
I think people are just too ham handed with their stuff these days.😉
Nice video.
Thanks Nigel :)
Ps,
Even now & that was 5 days ago that I finally got it all sorted, I still find that my Physical Key is just too prone to being sprung open accidentally whether it's in my pocket or being put down onto a table to the extent that when I'm finished driving for the day & I've closed the Key over & it's clicked into place, I use a small elastic band & wrap it just tight enough to stop the Key from opening.
We'll be keeping our eyes out to see what the new ones are like ;-)
why did you not show how to replace the key and spring? After all, it broke in your hands and is clearly an important thing to show.
Hi Cameron. Thanks for watching the video. The piece that broke is part of the case moulding. It holds in place the spring mechanism and blade.
So if that piece breaks the case is no good, the spring, button and blade all have to be replaced with a new case. Is that what you mean?
@@TheCarKeyMan how much should you expect to pay for 2 key blades cloning for the new cases ?
Is it the same immo transponder type as in the older none flip keys?
Hi, in the basic keys the transponder is separate, whereas in the remote keys it's integrated into the circuit board
Thanks for the tips here :)
The only bit I needed to know you missed out.... how do you get the button back on
One the key gets to the point where the button falls off, you need a new case.
Does it work if you hold it close up to the ignition lock?
Good video, thanks. Are new casings off ebay OK? Or are they just cheap rubbish from China do you know? Thanks
@@TheCarKeyMan Thats great, thanks, cost doesn't really bother me as long as its done right, all the best.

Well it can be tricky, plus it will need cutting and coding with a computer. My advice is to find a good Auto Locksmith to help you with this. Ask at your local garage who lok after your car, see if they have a number of someone they trust
Hi,
Any ideas for this. I had a key fob die so I replaced teh battery. Now it will not unlock/lock the car. I have followed various videos on holding the lock button in the ignition etc.
The central locking button still works in the car so I am unsure if the fob is dead?
The came came with a spare but that's also never worked!
Apprecaite it
Not really sure without seeing the key, sorry
I bought a replacement case for my C3 when the case broke. But the old blade is flat and the new one grooved on its edge. Will that work? Or do I need another one that's flat on the blade edge? It's just the key blade that snapped on the plastic hinge casing like in your video.
Hi Rob, well you could swap the blade from the old case into the new one. The only thing with this is that sometimes the tang is different and you need to do a bit of filing.
However, you can't get the groove key cut to fit your lock, it won't work and may get stuck
What kind of battery should be?
Hi, a CR1620
Hi,
I purchased a Peugeot 1007 1 week ago.
It arrived today & I'm pleasantly surprised to find it only tool a few minutes to switch the circuitboard out & into the New one but what I'd like to know is,
Would it be worth my time to get the Blank that came with it cut as so many people on the Forums have had mixed results with this issue.
Ps
I couldn't agree with you more with regards to these Key Fobs at the start of your video.
Hi Paul
Thanks for watching the video.

I can send it back for a refund, but it looks like it's otherwise Identical to my case. As well as the metal connectors, there's also so plastic brackets to hold the battery too, which may risk clashing with the circuit-board battery though..

Great video. Do I have to put it in to start the car up to make it work or the door ... The I have never used has stopped working
Remove the ignition and hopefully it will work :-)
Hi, i have gotten a Citroen c3 key (2 buttons) from a wrecker, is there a way to program myself if i get a copy of my 1 key blade?

Good Video but although there is mention of the types there is no pointer as to where to get the OEM housing from. If you buy a case off the net that is not OEM locksmiths refuse to cut the keys by stating the metal is wrong, ie too soft.
Hi Michael. Thanks for watching the video. As far as I know OEM housings are not available, you can only buy the complete key. If you know where you can get them please let me know because we'd buy some. As for cutting keys, we'll cut cases from ebay, as long as they are correct for your car. The reason alot of people won't is that if they mess it up, and don't have them in stock, they have messed up your key!
www.silca.biz/en/catalogues/124088/silca-keys-catalogues.html
Look down the page you will see
Flip Keys Catalogue
Hello Michael. Have you read this book?
Yes; also you will see on that same page empty shells catalog. They say they produce the flip case to the original manufacturers spec. Page 16 flip keys cat, gives you the key type and P5 of the shells gives you the Citroen shells. I am not in the trade, but presume you would be able to buy from them.
Hi Michael. In our experience, these cases are of variable quality. We have never found a case with the same pad quality as the OEM case. To say it is OEM quality, when talking about keys, is very brave. So, we do local repairs in Lincoln, but wouldn't send these out for a couple of simple reasons
Firstly, where the battery is in the case, it relies on the battery contacts to touch the gold pads on the green circuit board.
You don't show how to put the blade in
Hi, sorry, what are you trying to do?
I have citroen c 2 put new battery in and some times it unloks or loks but not all the time
Hi, these are truly terrible keys. Has it worked correctly before, or has it always been a bit dodgy?
What battery does the fob take?
+marcus cannon hi Marcus, all the fobs take a CR1620 battery. Get s good, don't go cheap ;-)
what about the responders RFID chips??
Thats strange. You will need an Auto Locksmith with specialist software to talk to teh immo inside the BSI unit. Did you get it all sorted?
Where is the repair?
How do you pop open the case?
Hi, there's a slot at the end that you twist a coin in
@@TheCarKeyMan cheers, I did find it eventually 👍
How do you open it?
Hello, sorry for the delay. There is a slot at one end. Put a coin into the slot and twist it.
Hi thanks for the video, I've opened my key and see there is a wire on the board, is this normal as the board on the video has no wire on it
Hi, does it look like it's been added in? I've wire on any peugeot key that I can think of
i have a case that doesnt look like any of the ones in the video
Most important thing not shown here..its how to transfer the key lol
Hello Polex. Do you mean swap the blade? There are two good reasons that instead of swapping the blade, you should get it cut.
The first reason is that the 'tail' of the key, the piece that goes into the hinge or key holder is often not compatible with teh new case. This means that you take the blade out of the old key and it does not fit into the new key.
the more important reason is that you remove the blade by knocking out a very tight pin. When you do this in the case, unless you are very careful, it will split the black plastic and damage the new case. This is the reason we don't show. We made this video and had I made it again, I would include this information. Sorry
The Car Key Man Exactly. 🙏
Very informative introductory video. Why so many red arrows???
Not helpful just telling you about the case not showing you how to do it
Guys, I know the solution to changing the blade, the blade is attached to main key via small piece of metal, if you have ever changed links on a metal wristwatch you'll know what I'm talking about.
Hi Steve,
Just an update with regards to my Peugeot 1007 4 Button Key Fob breaking.
Thank you for an informative video
You're welcome Ian :)
very useful my friend. Thank you so much.
Thanks Luca :)
He would make a good english teacher aswel I thinks his wssteing his time a bit with these key vids but still there handy
Hi Andrew, I did think about teaching, but every teacher I spoke to said 'don't do it!' That was a long time ago now. Thanks for watching :)

Thanks for watching:)
Great but doesn't show how to build a key press system, as in the stupid silver press button
Hi Rob, when you get a new case, the silver button is help in place and there's no need to build a key press system. There's no point in which the silver button is supposed to come out and be put back in. If it gets to that point, the key is too far gone I'm afraid. Is that what you mean?
Having trouble finding a key case with a grooved key with battery attached to circuit board
Hiya. I’m too having problems locating the correct key case for the type with the battery on the circuit board. We’re you ever successful locating a replacement? Andy
Thanks great help
You're very welcome Ryan :)
Blade? Fob
UWAGA UWAGA !
Get on with it ffs
Stupid idea
Why, this vid is a waste of time
Hi, this is a really early video of ours. We made it to show the different types of case, as there are about 12 different ones. Sorry it didn't help
