In this video, Dr. Berg talks about what you should consider first before getting your hair colored. There are over 5, 000 chemicals used on your body because the surface of our skin is like a sponge that could absorb a lot of chemicals. Make sure to use organic products that have a lot less toxic.
Cumulative Effect
• Ammonia
• Parabens
• PPDs
• Toluene
• Formaldehyde
Chemicals Increase Risk for Cancer
• Follicular Lymphoma
• Chronic Lymphocyte Leukemia
Grey Hair - as we age, we lose certain antioxidants in the body and we have excessive oxidants (like hydrogen peroxide). Here’s a list what you may consider taking for this condition:
• Catalase
• Glutathione
• Selenium
• Coconut Oil

I'm letting the silver come in after dying my hair for 45 straight years. I stopped in Nov. 2018 and so far am loving it! Who knew I'd have a pretty streak in the center? Plus, I've lost 52 pounds and dropped 4 prescription drugs since last summer.
Theres something about looking good and feeling good on keto. Covering the grey doesnt seem as important anymore👍
Awesome!😘😘👍
You are awesome. !
OMG goodness!!!
That's amazing!
Congratulations
I also stopped coloring my hair over a year ago.. maybe 2 years now. I still have blonde about 2 inches left at the ends. Might go in for a haircut to get rid of the blonde! When I use a clip, the hair that sticks up is so yellow it looks horrible with my grey!
I wish you do a video on non toxic/less toxic brands.
I’m 46 and I never color my hair I learned when I was 16 the damage that this cost to your hair but your body the same is nail polish and the glue you use for the fake eyelashes so I’m 100%% natural I’m just beautiful the way God make me 😊
Except for that breast augmentation. Whoopsie.
I don't use make-up but my skin looks horrible anyways.

Wow this doctor teaches on all sorts of helpful topics. I love it!
Yeah, me too. I'm addicted to his videos! 😅
Yes he does ❤️
Yes exactly ... I have watched more than 150 videos of him. I too was wondering how he teaches all sorts of topics.... 🤔
Congratulations Dr. Berg...😍👍
My mom used to color her hair regularly since her twenties and she did develop follicular lymphoma. When I researched the causes of this cancer, I discovered that hair dyes can be linked to it.
Mine too.
Thank you for educating us. Your time is much appreciated Dr. It was always my dream to become a dietitian. It always remained an interest and you teach me something new everyday.
I use Henna and indigo leaves powder. Both are herbal and together provide black colour to hairs without any allergy and hairfall.
I've been a hairdresser for 33 years. The chemicals became too much and my doctor took me off of my job and said I couldn't ever go back. I haven't colored my hair for 2 years now... and I miss my job 😔 but I don't miss the chemicals.
I make my own soaps, only use makeup if a special occasion is coming up, I try to stay away from chemicals as much as possible.
Problem is the ingredients used may have chemicals in them
I was REALLY SICK for a long time! My hair literally turned white overnight. (Trauma and infection)
In the last 4 years, I've totally changed my diet following Dr. Berg❤
I digest better, sleep better, am calmer, more focused and have more energy. As a plus 🙆 last time I colored my hair I discovered it's getting pigment back. Some pepper is showing up!
Love Dr. Berg and am so grateful!

I developed horrific eczema and suffered horribly for a year and a half. Finally I got a chemical allergy patch test. It showed that I am highly allergic to the PPD in hair dye. I am thoroughly embracing the grey hairs.
Always amazingly helpful. Highly appreciate all of your efforts. Thanks a lot.
I stopped coloring my hair 4 years ago. Looking back, I see there was no need whatsoever to do it in the first place 🤷
Good for you! Bleaching or coloring hair can be very damaging. The harsh chemicals may also cause hair to fall out. Don't recommend it unless you try organic.
Im sorry to be so late to the party but here’s a tip before having your hair dyed, the natural oils in your scalp actually protect your scalp but some people like to wash their hair before going to the hairdresser to have it dyed to get rid of a buildup of hair spray etc Don’t use your usual shampoo it’s too strong and will strip your scalp of those natural protective oils use baby shampoo instead because it will gently cleanse the hair without stripping your scalp of its natural oils but always wash the day before not the same day because after your hair has been washed it will temporary weaken it but recovers in a few hours.
Thank you, she always course my dirty hair but lately used natural colours and washes it first so now stopped and am aghast at my silver head! 🤣
Thanks for sharing 👍

I use Madison Reed hair color. It's suppose to be a lot safer. No harsh smell. I'm happy with the results and I have stubborn grey.
Ty as a Cosmetologist I've been on the hunt for a "healthier" way to color and found some, but some companies like Madison Reed, have great ingredients, but the color washes right out and doesn't last. I was so happy when grey became in vogue , ..... so now I’m white (mid fifties) and I’m happy and liberated from hair colour ,,and not poisoning myself every month ....
Taking liquid minerals like Youngevity often stops prematurely greying. My child had a mineral deficiency and his hair color is recovered now and no longer grey.
Thanks 🙏🏾 for this informative video. I’ve been dying my hair a lot these days because of increased grey new growth. I’ve been buying the organic dyes that don’t contain peroxide or ammonia
Understandably and quick. That's why I like to watch dr.Berg.
I have a simple, strict standard: if I wouldn't eat it, it doesn't go on my skin. Skin absorption isn't all that different from eating.
💯 % agreed....heard that a couple years ago...if you can't eat it don't put it on your skin... that goes for your nails too !!!
Good
Including the vagina.
Kube Dog raspberry seed oil, aloe, I think there are lots of options but I try to limit exposure regardless.

No just gradually go longer and longer starting with 15 min, so your body can produce it's own built in sunscreen adaptation. I've been doing that for years and at 60, I got a great skin test result.
After years of using chemical hair dyes I started to get a sore scalp after ever use and it would take a couple of weeks to go away. I switched to organic hair dye and I never had a problem again. Using organic coconut oil to replace any type of creams on your face or body reduces the amount of chemicals that are absorbed into the bloodstream. We are under constant attack from chemicals and the more you can limit this the better off you will be.
Thanks for all the helpful knowledge you been educating us. I have early grays since my early 20s... It multiplied over the years. I was told that it can be genetic too (it's been a head ache). My stylist informed me about semi permanent colors are less harsh for the scalp and hair. There are certain brands of dyes that are less toxic (aka ammonia etc), but it's only sold in speciality beauty stores. One more suggestion, try to hunt for less toxic lotions or make up and skin care at Sprouts or Wholefoods stores 🤓. Have a great day everyone.
There are natural hair colors. One is called NATURE TINT.
Doc I cant give up everything.I have to try to look good. This old barn neads all the help it can get.😂🤣
Okay! I have to have this one thing...😏
i know what you mean, we've already gave up a lot with food... But my mom is almost 80 years old and all her life she's been dying her hair and she doesn't have cancers or anything...
@@jbello9398 cancer can live in your body for a long time, or it could be that, for whatever reason, she's been able to sustain it. Her not having it doesn't mean it's safe and you won't get it, just that she got lucky.
Or you could look into what kinds of dyes there are it there that don't do this and purchase some. I'm sure your hairdresser wild let you bring in your own stuff, or you could just ask if she can get some. Also, you can do the other things as well, like take some of the supplements her recommends trying - they might take a while though, so just be prepared.
Also, you could be like me and go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy your own die and do your own hair (I like ION brand, seems to be there safest and most conscientious). The sales reps usually know a lot too, so just all them. Oh, and the N at the end of the coler means Neutral, so it's not there best for grays. V stands for Violet tones, R for Red hues, and G for Gold.
Lots of people don't get that, then complain when the color turns out differently.
The place I go to has an organic hair dye from Italy that can be used while pregnant. I pay more for it but I won’t get the regular hair dye.
Oh My God!
This scares me and makes me aware at the same time.

How can anyone of us ever Thank You! 💖💖
I just make up a little egg cup full of colour (I know, a waste of a box) and then use an old toothbrush to just blend in little streaks so the grey isn't so apparent. That way it doesn't touch my skin except I guess for a minute when I wash it out.

I have heard that henna and other herbs can be used to naturally dye hair, and have used that in the past with good results. Although, I really do love and honor natural grey. It’s so beautiful
The thing I wonder about henna - what is the dye they use to colour it ?
😳👀
Using non toxic effective immediately
Thank you Dr Berg! A subscriber and follower of your advice since February ❤️☺️👌🏾
I'd like to see a follow up to this - perhaps discussing if there is anything that can be done to counter the cumulative effects of the chemicals.
I’ve been slowly switching my cosmetics and beauty routine over to more natural products. My makeup is from a brand that uses fruits for pigments and I got a haircut I love that requires zero styling products, just water. I’m not 100% switched over but I am heading in the right direction. It’s crazy that there are so few restrictions in the US to what a company can put into beauty and personal care items!
Great video!
I think
i heard you say you were going to leave some alternative coloring products, but I didn't see them. Products that color, but are not harsh.
I don't use make up but I color my hair at least 3 to 4 times max a year and used safe hair dye due to small no. of white hair. Thank you for this info, i will surely think of a better option.
I learned to use Henna in Morocco for hair dye.... none toxic 1oo% natural. A lot of Asian stores have it.
is this difficult to apply?
You cannot perm or dye over it. Its a hairdressers worst nightmare. Ive been a hairdresser for 32 years. Products are getting better. Less amonia and they took formaldehyde out of nail polish.
I've been a hairdresser for 40 years......NO HENNA...IT CONTAINS METALS and is impossible to get rid of....drys out the hair and is very unpredictable.
There are great risk for allergy

I LOVE rubbing coconut oil into my hair and on my scalp. Feels awesome! I use coconut oil instead of hairspray to hold my style and it really works. It also helps with static in my hair.
Coconut oil is awesome!
What about the greasiness?!
Tints of Nature is what I use. Maybe not 100 per cent organic but it works.
I actually use a 10 drops of rosemary essential oil per 4 ounces of aloe Vera gel for my gray. I also add a few drops each of lavender and cedarwood essential oil with the same aloe Vera gel and apply it at night. Works great! You have to be consistent but it's been amazing.
What does it do for you?
Yes …ehat on earth does doing this do for your hair?

I do dye my hair but my hairdresser makes sure not to touch the scalp with the product. As for make up, I use the bare minimum to look presentable at work. I don't even use foundation anymore. I make my own skin care products. Cleaner (Castile soap, jojoba oil & water), toner (ACV & water) and moisturizer (jojoba and argan oil). The only think I don't make myself is SPF cream. I love my new skin care routine 🙂
I ended up having panic disorder after a box of L’Oréal permanent hair dye, ladies beware of the dangers of hair dye especially the darker colour tones, I had to have an epipen because I started having food allergies as well, I could not wear perfume or makeup for over a year, so ladies
Beware, now I just have my natural silver hair colour and I get so many compliments.
Helps to go Cruelty free
I prefer to wait 4 months before dying them again to cover the costs of the hairdresser! There's a reason why supermarket stuff is so cheap and there's nooo way I'm going to put that on my hair. Pro dyes still have chemicals, but at least they wouldn't do this kind of damage. Plus I don't want to go out with my hair looking like crap because I'm not capable of doing a good job 😂

I stopped coloring my hair years ago & decided to go gray naturally. I also stopped using shampoo & conditioner over a year ago & my hair is so much healthier not having all those chemicals. I wash my hair 2x per week & its amazing! I wash using 1 tbsp baking soda to about 16oz water & that strips my hair & gets it super clean. I use 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar, with the mother, to about 16oz water for my rinse. My hair is cleaner, softer, & healthier without tangles!

@@NishaYadav-od3sn for sure. Baking soda strips your hair of all the nasty chemical buildup & even oils. I only wash my hair once a week now as the hair needs to rebuild its natural oils. If you clean it too often with baking soda I think that would be bad. If you don’t like that, Dr Bronners soaps are another alternative.

This is something I actually knew. I would never dye my hair especially now with liver disease.
Henna to dye the hair, bare minerals for make-up, and Shea moisture products for soaps, shampoos and conditioners. Also bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar with mother to cleanse hair.
Bare minerals has bismuth oxychloride, which can be very irritating to people with sensitive skin. Alima Pure is like bare minerals but without bismuth oxychloride.

It's more likely psychological for people. Perhaps, it makes them feel prettier or for other reasons, but usually it's best to be natural. I had dyed my hair, too, in my 20s, but I stopped after learning about how the chemicals can damage and dry up the hair, etc. I've also noticed these effects in other people's dyed hair; they look dried up, looked rough, didn't have the natural shininess, and had split ends.
I started taking tongkat ali (liquid extract) for my libido. Besides waking up every morning with a pitched tent, my hair seemed thicker. The gray hair was still there but my mame was flowing with thickness.
