Well the cold weather is officially upon us and so starts probably one of the most challenging seasons of the year for fishing ! It can be really hit and miss.
We love the challenge fishing at this time of year so we set out to mere lane with simple tactics to try snd tempt a couple of fish.
Let me know what you think of my Dads catch, a pretty special fish… I have never seen one like it!

Thanks for all the videos this year Westy. Kept me going when I couldn’t get out lol. You should try the Doughnut lake at Mere Lane lots of mixed species and some nice chunks. Had few doubles on method feeder and wafters there in early Autumn

It's a tough lake to fish even in the high season. I normally take my whip and fish for perch just to tie me over haha

hi matt i fish a similar pond here at home...i found by experimeting this time of year .if the wind is milder i will fish into it! and had some results...but will fish the back of the wind if its colder conditions..which has cuaght me a lot of winter fish!!....tight lines u2 and av a great xmas!....
Brilliant video, keeping it real, honest filming , never change your way of doing it , I’ve really enjoyed your videos this year , roll on next year , if your looking at other bits to review, have you looked at Pallatrax, the stonzes system and Gripz hooks , well worth a look or try , I use nothing else now but would like to know your take …. Great video as always mate, keep uploading even if you keep blanking. I only started fishing this year and had my first blank a couple of days ago, so its reassuring as a beginner to see its common at this time of year. Roll on spring and summer.
I only started this year also, only time I seem to blank is when I'm fishing for the wild carp in resavoirs or local council park pools, them fish are dam hard to catch
@simonwilliams8980 my blank was on a park pool too which is mainly carp and tench, everyone I spoke to on the day didn't catch anything so it wasn't just me. I normally fish commercials, I guess the higher stocks definitely make a difference, especially in the colder months.
@@cooop92 them park pools are hard and the fish around my way Smethwick are lumps but maybe 1 a year comes out
Great video as usual. Just a tip, once you've clipped up to the island use some distance sticks to measure the line, that way you can reclip up to the same spot every cast.

Do you find the pentalite shelter difficult to get the fifth pole into the centre ? My one seems difficult to do that part of the assembling Dad teaching you how not to blank again then LOL

Mesh bags are certainly a more convenient method, you can have loads tied up in advance !
