The problem is that current Disney writers don't fully trust the old Disney tropes anymore. They want to be modern and subversive and still be classic Disney.
They started writing a fully evil villain, then they got worried that audiences wouldn't buy a villain that acts evil just because he can. So they gave him a sad backstory and decided to make Amaya good just to make him more "complex".
That's why we lost evil Amaya. She was made good so she would be Magnifico's conscience in order to hastily make him a more complex and tragic villain.
That way two great characters were wasted.

    • @Mgauge
      @Mgauge 6 місяців тому +37

And once they realized he wasn't even a villain anymore, they tossed in an evil book to possess him to remove any and all complexity and have everyone treat him as if he was as always just an evil tyrant. All without a second of thought into the implications or questions of the possibility that maybe the other characters might have some responsibility for the outcome or may have some problems without him around .

The problem is the people of Rosas don't feel like good people. They feel like the Who's from the 2000 Grinch movie. It's never a good sign when the Grinch's line:
"The avarice never ends! I want golf clubs, I want diamonds. I want a pony, so I can ride it twice, get bored and then sell it to make glue."
Feels applicable to the towns people in this movie. Cause no matter what Magnifico did they would have turned on him at some point anyway.

Magnifico's the one with the better points about how not every wish should be granted. He's not even that evil, not until Asha starts messing with his system, and HIS actions feel more justified. You took the right out of my mouth. When I reluctantly watched the movie, I felt that the whole thing was a mess, I felt that Asha is kind of selfish, naive, annoying, and ridiculous. She sang about how the wish system, and she is still surprised, that’s ridiculous. King Magnifico’s “villain arc” felt forced and rushed, like an overreaction to a situation, it felt like he became a villain for petty reasons. I felt that the citizens of Rosas are stupid, annoying, and ungrateful. They live in a peaceful kingdom with wish granting king, and they still wanted more. If they could make their own wishes come true then why give them away? And the Queen was useless, she could have helped him with the wishes, she could have examined the wishes for him, she could have tried harder to deter him away from the evil spell book, I felt like she gave up on him to quickly, she should have tried harder to save him from the evil, it felt like their love was superficial and meaningless. The “hero” didn’t feel like a hero, the “villain” didn’t feel like a villain, and the “victims” didn’t feel like victims

    • @kenthuang436
      @kenthuang436 4 місяці тому +11

I also thought Asha was being unreasonably selfish. I mean what if someone wanted to bring loved ones back from the dead? That would cause a zombie apocalypse and sure the wish might have had good intentions but not every wish should be granted because of possible negative consequences. The rules for wish making were never mentioned or made in Wish like they were in Aladdin. The wish granting magic obviously works differently than the Genie’s and he at least explained that bringing someone back to life would result in very bad consequences of the undead and you can’t force someone to fall in love with you. In Rosas, it could be possible to force someone to fall in love with you because there are now no rules to keep the wishes at bay.

It depends on how we look at it. even if it was intended for that, we can flip it to say that good things shouldn’t be quenched. Like, Asha’s grandfather’s desire was to inspire people with joy and music, not to overthrow Magnífico or inspire rebellion. And Star taking back those wishes, could represent God restoring something that was part of them. I was thrown off by the pentagram, but it was on me.

Yeah, Magnifico could have worked less as an outright villain and more of a misguided antagonist. If the writers wanted to actually make Magnifico complex, he could have been someone who was honestly trying to help, but not realizing his help was unintentionally hurting others. The primary example of that hurt could have been that one friend of Asha's who was depressed after his wish was taken away. Maybe Magnifico clings to this idea of helping so he doesn't have to feel bad about his backstory. The movie could have been about Asha trying to open Magnifico'a eyes to the reality of the situation.

I feel like King Magnifico's character in the movie we got makes much more sense as a tragic Oedipus Rex-like figure who snaps and falls from grace after getting pushed to his breaking point rather than a classic Disney villain who revels in how evil they are and doesn't waste time with their feelings (unless it's Frollo lusting over Esmeralda maybe). If Disney made him the main character and if his descent into madness was portrayed as a tragedy rather than "hmm, well you do love mirrors," I think this movie would've been much better received and made for a more compelling story.

I’m actually writing a multi part fanfic of this exact concept where Asha learns how badly she screwed up and now there’s a zombie apocalypse she must deal with because she granted an orphan’s wish for his parents to come back to life, the Peter Pan guy turns out to have wanted to create a flying machine as a weapon to eliminate all pirates and fairies and Wendy is now being forced to commit genocide against her own will, and the entire kingdom’s money is now under the control of a greedy banker who is now making everyone else literally dirt poor and won’t share his wealth. Basically sentient Stars are extremely angry at Asha and are threatening to erase her world’s existence unless she finds a way to correct her mistake of releasing all of the wishes. Also the story would explain the Star Asha had met and precisely its true nature and why it behaved the way it did and how the Book was actually not evil as Asha had claimed and how it was actually a last resort plan to protect reality from someone like Asha from disrupting the balance of wishes and destroying reality.

If you have to drastically rewrite your villain because you don't think your hero could beat them, maybe the problem is how you write your hero?
I mean, you have the movie start with her interviewing to be his apprentice. Shouldn't that imply she at least has a little magic of her own? Why not lean on that and show her growing in power and skill as things go on until she's powerful enough to at least defend herself against Magnifico and Amaya? That way your villains can be more threatening and she can have some level of growth and challenge. Maybe show that she's actually clever and capable by winning with a creative solution against her more powerful foes? It would do a lot more than her somehow beating him with a random crowd song. It's more empowering than just having people say she's supposedly so kind and selfless for the sixth time or the useless goat.
This is some basic stuff here, yet nobody in charge of this movie seems to have thought about it.

I think they wanted Asha to be a "strong, independent woman" and they didn't want to give her an obstacle she couldn't overcome on her own. But the irony is that in the final version of the film, Asha ends up needing help from her friends anyway. So the filmmakers should have just stuck with the original script and had Asha rally others to assist her in her cause. It would have been a powerful lesson to teach kids that "you don't have to do it all on your own; there is no embarassment in asking for help; we are stronger together."

Yeah Asha felt very underwhelming as a main protagonist, there's just nothing really going for her even after she literally acquires a magic wand. Aladdin had no magical powers of his own but was a much more compelling character to watch who was able to get by using his street smarts even before coming across the Genie. Both of their respective antagonists get defeated by getting sucked into something but seeing Aladdin outwit Jafar highlighted his strengths as a character and felt more rewarding than Asha singing a reprise and somehow everyone wished hard enough to set Star free from the staff and replace him with Magnifico I guess? As far as Disney movies dealing with the concept of wishes go, Aladdin takes the cake for me.

Why Amaya can't be like, I don't know, Hans from "Frozen"? I mean, a secret true villain of the story. A queen, who turns against her husband for her own desires, who tired to be second in comand and who wants ruling Rosas by herself.
Me and some people also see her as an Evil Queen from "Snow White and the seven dwarfs" and Magnifico as her Magic Mirror. How's that?

So as I've seen surmised by many others on UA-cam (including profession writers, filmmakers, critics, and storytellers in general). Is that Magnifico is not evil, he's not even malicious until Asha starts pressing his buttons.
He was a good, if somewhat egotistical king, but his kingdom was prosperous, and its populace was content. Everyone was happy to live there, knowing full well what the 'price' of living there was.
Disney inadvertently (almost) did something extremely ambitious. The antagonist was not a villain (if anything, a Well-Intentioned Extremist) and the protagonist was not a hero (rather acting as a Butterfly of Doom) to the point that it could be argued that Asha is Disney's first Princess Villain.

In the movie’s defense, it isn’t made totally clear to the people of Rosas that their wishes may never be granted, else why would they risk it? They’re happy because they exist in ignorance, not knowing what their wish was, but hopeful that they may be the next one to have it granted. When Asha discovers Magnifico won’t ever grant her grandfather’s wish, she is devastated. And when she asks Magnifico to just give it back then, he refuses, essentially robbing him of ever having the chance to achieve his dreams the old fashioned way.
In all fairness though, the writers could have made this conflict a little clearer, making Asha’s goals a little less ambiguous.

I mean all you need to do is the math to figure out that there is a chance your wish won't ever be granted. Maginifico was pretty honest about the fact that he'll protect the wishes no matter what, which he does up until getting possessed. Even the whole memory wipe is known to everyone and they all agreed to it. It's like entering the lottery and then getting mad that you didn't win

    • @rmilan2272
      @rmilan2272 Місяць тому

You’re assuming the people of Rosas were aware their wish may never be granted. Judging by Asha’s reaction, it seemed like news to her. Even so it’s one thing to be denied due to chance, but there were some he had pre-marked as never granting. I doubt the people were aware of that. If he was truly fair, he would have pre-screened the wishes and never have accepted some to begin with, especially considering when he takes a wish, that person can never again grant that wish on their own. And yeah, maybe that would have made some people upset, but at least he’d be honest with them instead of giving them false hope. Maybe that’s why he took them anyway. Just easier to have them live in blissful ignorance.

Analogy: let’s say Rosas has a lottery, where anyone can pay $20 to have their name added to a pot to be drawn at random to win the big prize. But let’s say for legal reasons Magnifico can’t give the prize to anyone who lives so far away from his castle, so he secretly removes those names from the pot. Let’s say Asha’s grandfather payed his $20, but unknowingly lives too far away from the castle to receive the prize. He knows his chances are slim, but he still waits eagerly every year to see if he is lucky enough to get drawn, not knowing his name was removed and there is a 0% chance he can actually get the prize. Magnifico could give him his $20 back, but instead just keeps it and the secret that he will never receive the prize.
Now, I’m certainly not a fan of the movie, and this still doesn’t make Magnifico a strong villain, but it should at least be seen as a little dubious. I think of it more like a scammer who got caught and resorted to nefarious means when Asha broke in and tried to get her grandfather’s money back.

These other mentioned evil sorcerers demonstrated multiple times that they were willing to kill and destroy everything the protagonist and its world knew simply to gain personal power or prestige, up to and including murdering the protagonist. Magnifico might throw around scary green lights and have a so-called "Forbidden Book of Magic" but any REAL evil sorcerer would toss him around like a sack of potatoes with both hands tied behind their back. Would that bring them back as zombies? Or what if someone’s greatest wish was world dominance and making it a dystopian nightmare? Magnifico wasn’t even that bad as he did keep everyone safe and even gave very good jobs to the physically disabled like Dahlia. Asha was the one to say he was “bad.” If you actually analyze the characters in the movie, none of them are truly suffering without their greatest wish not being granted and the grandfather even told Asha that he was perfectly fine not getting his wish and that he was still happy.

A classic, I find happiness by inflicting my sadness on to others. He gets away with it, because people forget that the victim existed.
Asha sees him doing it. Preventing the mind wipe. It happens to a friend of hers or her grandfather and thus she has a motivation for standing up to the villain. In the end she goes on a journey to other worlds to find the victims and bring them back home.

I've heard that Magnifico and his wife were originally intended to be the first ever Disney villain couple, an evil counterpart to Asha and the Star Boy, who was supposed to be her love interest. But Disney didn't want to do a love story because they thought that would be bad for Asha's character, so they made the Magic Star into a cute mascot just to sell toys and also made King Magnifico the bad guy. This is the problem with modern day writing, they're trying to make the villain really sympathetic with a sad backstory instead of making him or her just evil. Sure some people might find these kind of villains one note and evil for the sake of being evil, but it's sort of good story telling since they serve as an antagonist to what the main character believes in or his/her goals.

So antagonistic rewrite: Magnifico is first depicted as a budding sorcerer that is on his way to ascended the throne. He saw the power in wish making and envied that power, coveting its influence. By learning to absorb people’s wishes, the once peasant Magnifico would gain all that he lacked as a kid: a family, a home, friends and prestige. Using the powers of other’s wishes, Magnifico could wish what he always desired to be but no one gave him a chance to be: a king. But making selfish wishes or absorbing them for someone’s own gain corrupts a Person’s soul. From modest covetous wishes, he became increasingly power hungry. Even as he becomes a king, he hungers for more. Magnifico still has the prestige, people’s minds are erased when their wishes are stollen, so they don’t see him as evil; like a charisma spell as part of his kingly charms.
Cut to the present: Asha, a passionate tour guide of the cheery kingdom, discovers people are beginning to suffer increasingly intense nightmares and other ailments. Asha requests an audience of the king, but is denied. Determined, she sneaks in and is horrified at what she sees: Magnifico singing to himself about his wants and growing desire of world conquest and subjugation, which is what is causing people to get nightmares and start to lose individuality/ hope. This triggers Asha’s want song at night after her escape and summons the star, wishing to grant Asha’s wish of solving the town’s struggles. Asha gathers her friends to reclaim the wishes that haven’t been absorbed yet. Magnifico alters her friend’s memories and the townspeople to make her seem like the villain and source of their ills.
The star , the goat and Asha are all that’s left as Magnifico asks the citizens to help conquer other cities to claim their wishes for the prosperity of the kingdom to alleviate the curse. Asha here learns the true value of a wish, through loss is to give hope to others through selflessness. Magnifico was selfish and thus only ended up craving more and brainwashed the citizens, the victims into believing his selfish way of using wishes.
TL;DR Bottom line: make Magnifico have a reason to be greedy, make him power hungry with wish stealing, make the townsfolk the victims without them realizing it and have Asha suffer loss through the victims to understand the true value of a wish.
This idea isn’t perfect, but it gives the villain a chance to be a villain from the start and grows in threat level and power

All the old Disney villains wanted power for themselves and theey were willing to do everything for it, murder, theft, torture, slavery... you name it.
Magnifico, however, wanted power to build a kingdom where people could be happy and that is what he used his powers for. Yes, some wishes were left unfulfilled and for good reasons. He also does not simply grant wishes, but rather gives people the tools to make them come true. They still have to put in the effort themselves.
I think Disney saw that Magnifico, as they portrayed him in the beginning and with his backstory, wasn't a villain, but a hero and so they shoehorned that evil energy in to make him seem evil. They could have actually run with that and have the "heroine" help the king overcome this evil and then the two clean up the mess the girl made by just trying to fullfill everyones wish.
Imo, the Star should have beennthe evil force in disguise, using the gullible innocent girl to gain powers and overthrow the king. And she finds out that the Star is actually the power Magnifico defeated all those years ago. In the end, the Star is defeated, Magnifico rules his kingdom again and take Asha as his "apprentice". Maybe they should have kept Asha as the princess to make it a succession story along the lines of great powers and great responsibilities.
So many things they could have done right with this movie and they didn't.
What a waste of money, talent and opportunity.

Magnifico didn't deserve to be a villain, in my opinion. He was misguided in some ways (I guess), but he wasn't a bad person. He switched up so quickly after he sang At All Costs, so much so that it felt a little forced to me. Of course it wasn't nice to hear that her Saba's wish wouldn't be granted but he's not the only one who has a wish that they've been waiting ages for to be granted. Magnifico was quite literally a good man who did what was best for his people and I think it all came to a halt when Asha basically grew frustrated with the fact that he said he simply wouldn't grant her Saba's wish as it wouldn't be fair to just grant his because she asked when he hasn't done it for anyone else. I don't blame him for straight up being like "Wow I'm not surprised you're already asking me to grant the wishes". You can't just grant any and every wish, and Magnifico had a huge burden on himself anyway. He did them a favour by making them forget the wishes honestly. When Asha messes it all up, honestly it did seem a little ungrateful, so "This is the thanks I get?" Was kinda justified in my opinion. She wasn't even listening when he offered her the position and didn't even accept it before she asked him to grant the wish 😭💀 way to go, Asha
All I'm saying is that the people of Rosa's knew what to expect when they moved there, and they also should have known that everyone had an equal fair chance of having their wishes granted, so it would be unfair to grant someone's wish just because they asked

The main problem is Magnifico picks and chooses the wishes on his bases of if he thinks people's intentions of their wishes arr good. She finds that out and wants to change it. Yes, her Saba's wish was the fuel to her changing things but she even ask him that 'So many of these wished won't come true?' The king lays his plans for wish granting right in front of her. And she wants to change that. Also, his desire to be the only one with magic is his downfall. To be the only person with the power is his downfall as well. I think Disney wanted to create a villian that everyone trust. Which they executed very well. I truly believe, just like Hans, in Frozen, he didn't have evil intentions. However, he got greedy for power.

You made the point twice that Magnifico is paranoid, because he lost his entire family. Thus, we should feel sorry for him. However, if Disney wanted us to care, they should have shown us much more about how Magnifico's past effects his worldview, rather than just telling us. Also, I don't buy the argument that Magnifico did nothing wrong - he's keeping the kingdom "happy" out of his own fear, throws a tantrum when Asha questions why he won't grant her grandpa's Wish (which by the way, Magnifico said that he was afraid that the simple wish would inspire a *rebellion* , which Asha had every right to question. Also, this was something that was left out of the video when asking why Asha had problems with the king) And also, Magnifico rubs it in Asha's face, when her grandpa's wish is not granted and humiliates her. He was clearly paranoid and narcissistic from the start.

What was so evil about the king anyways. So people agree when they come to the kingdom to give up their greatest desire or wish. And once or twice a month, the king will grant someone's wish.
His only real rules are he doesn't grant wishes that could be too vague or may cause the destruction of the Kingdom. Everyone seems to be happy, and full of energy except for one of Usher's friends.
I don't get any of the qualities of a Disney villain the king, like I do maleficent, hook, or even jafar.
This just seems like play Drop the ball, and we didn't get a truly bad villain that we could have. And I agree, he doesn't have some horrible plot about using the wishes or segregating his subjects.
Sure he turns evil in order to protect the kingdom, but that wasn't an evil motive from the very beginning.

As bad and disappointing of villain Magnifico is, i hope Disney doesnt take the wrong lessons away from Wish, and stops trying to give us classic villains again, because Magnifico being a proper villain from the getgo wasnt the problem, the problem was the execution and that all potentially cool stuff about him was left on the cutting room floor.
So i think for their next few films, they look at Magnifico at how NOT to do a villain for their modern times, and instead look at how they can improve upon their first attempt.
For example, one of the big problems with Magnifico is that they couldn't decide whether to make him a pure evil villain or a troubled and sympathetic antagonist. So choose between one or the other. Like lets say Moana 2 has a proper villain, instead of doing what you did with Magnifico, choose between one or the other, maybe have a potential villain for Moana 2 be a troubled and sympathetic antagonist. Maybe someone who was wronged by Moanas tribe or one of the other tribes from that movie, and is building up power to get revenge, and in the end, Moana has to talk him or her down and/or try to reason with him or her, maybe takes some ques from Killmonger from Black Panther, where he or she ultimately wins the philosophical argument, despite Moana going about it ij a less violent manner then the villain wouldve. And for Zootopia 2, do the opposite, have the villain of that movie be a pure evil scumbag (perhaps maybe a satire of people like Trump or DeSantis) and have him want to install shock collars on predators and deport the Reptiles (who could be stand-ins for Immigrants), and use that as one of the ways to expand upon the themes of the original Zootopia.
Also, Magnifico and Amaya were going to be a villain couple, why not resue that idea for Frozen 3. Have the villains be a villain couple in the form of Anna and Elsa's estranged Aunt and Uncle, specifcally Iduna's twin sister and Agnarrs older half brother, whom want the throne and power of the spirits for themselves. Yes youd have to retcon some stuff. But one, Frozen 2 clearly retconned the mom into an indigenous person, so why should it matter, and two, it could be a cool way to give us a dark mirror/reflection of Anna and Elsa's parents as well as Anna and Elsa themselves. Or hell, have it be a villain family, with the aunt and uncle being dark reflections of the parents while there two children (son and daughter) are black mirrors of Anna and Elsa, you can even use this as an excuse to reuse Elsa's goth design.
The point is, disney should use Magnifico as an opportunity to learn from their mistakes for next time, as opposed to just abandoning the concept of proper villains again altogether.

They couldve made this movie into a tragic villain. They couldve made it where while Magnifico was going through a spiral of truama and curse they could had the Queen step up and settle things between Asha and him. Cause at the end of day the Queen didnt know what was going and just watched her egotistical but loving become crazed out of no where. He didnt even talk to his wife and wanted try and fix things himself. This couldve been a movie of lessons on misunderstandings, trauma, and ptsd.
Rosas was a safe haven with no criminals cause no one had the wish to be one since Magnifico took that Thats all he wanted like others said he was a extremist and very cautious I'm sure at the beginning of making Rosas he didnt give anyone their wish at the beginning until he met his wife compromise and help his trauma.
The movie was ok pretty good but it did feel rushed and unfinished. Whoever was overseeing the project shouldve rethought the cuts they made. It wouldve been a better movie for the Disney anniversary. Very anticlimactic movie....the songs were great though lmao

You know what truely funny is that, I guess, Asha acts like a villain and Magnifico as a hero. I remember in one of the "Wish" review i heard that Asha acts kind of like a villain and Magnifico acts like a hero, who trying his best to help Rosas to grow and after a while he is tired with Rosas - a town full of selfish and self-centered people, who only cares about their wishes. Will be funny if their roles was reversed. Like Asha will be a protaganist who turn into selfish antagonist, who using power of The Star for her own desires and forgets why she wishing on it (yeah, this sounds stupid), and Magnifico will be the one who trying reasoning her that her desires are wrong and curing her from it. And she will be sorry for her selfishness.
Yeah, I see that "Wish" could've been great. Asha could've been great, like Simba, Aladdin and Jasmine, Wendy, Cinderella, Ariel, Rapunzel and more. And Magnifico and Amaya as villains could've been great. Like mix of Ursula, Facilier, Jafar, Scar, Captain Hook, Lady Tramain, Gaston and more. That could've been awesome.

Uuuh, I'm sure the people would want to stand up to him in the original draft because he was a bad person. It's pretty obvious.

But let me guess even though they wanted to make Asha the hero they failed to do so am I right?
I mean Asha is a idealist who is questioning the flaws in the world around her.
Asha's personality consists of her being inviting, warm and so honest brave and optimistic.
But from watching the film at least more than once I immediately took notice of a change in her personality.
Asha went from a personality of being inviting, warm, So honest, brave and optimistic.
To a personality of a narcissistic temperamental rage.
And that is not And I repeat NOT something that we expect from a hero heroic character.
It's like that song from Wanda vision that said it was Agatha all along.
But in this case the villain was Asha all along

You successfully put into a 17-min video what I thought after watching this movie. He is the true victim. I sincerely felt bad for him. Yes, he might be a bit narcissistic, proud or any other bad trait, but if only such traits, with no action, were supoosed to be met instantantly with eternal corruption and punishment, most of people would meet this fate. Great morality Disney is showing here in this movie.
Also, no decent writer should believe that it's a good idea to have the main protagonist not having to rely on anyone to overcome obstacles.

I would like to see a story of Asha being the king and queen’s daughter who is learning to use magic like her father, and one day grant wishes to the people. However, she adn her father get into an argument when he reveals that most of the wishes won’t be granted because they are to dangerous and he didn’t want to lose everything including his precious treasure. He has trouble telling Asha about his past because it contains to many painful memories and Asha not understanding and demanding answers but getting none would be furious and leave the castle, heading to the beach where she meets star, a prince from a neighbouring kingdom who has come from his kingdom to save it.
He could reveal that Magnifico is actually taking the wishes he deems dangerous and absorbing them thus increasing his power and causing pain upon the dreamer. She would also learn that eventually her father would turn to dark magic as the wishes power was slowly corrupting him, so they decide to team up and stop her father before its to late, and along the way Asha learns of her father’s past while she tries to stop the ceremony from taking place. However, its to late and her father falls to darkness, dragging her mother with him when she tried to help him, leading to them forcefully stripping the wishes of its citizens to become all powerful and eventually falling to darkness. Forcing the citizens to give up their wishes before 18, and putting them under mind control. They would make their destination other kingdoms which he would take over, to make a perfect kingdom where nobody knew suffering or want.
Asha could rally the people and with star would try to save her parents, and eventually the climax of the film would be the battle where Asha is able to save Star after he was captured and drained, and release the wishes he absorbed. However, the dark magic can’t be undone and with a tearful realization she makes up with her parents, who admit they are proud of her and hope that she will make the kingdom even better. Her father admits that she was his greatest treasure and his greatest gift, a sentiment that her mother shares. They admit their love for each other as the star traps them inside a shard of glass which Asha puts in a glass case beside the book which is now under her watch.
Star would leave the kingdom as he was after all a star and couldn’t stay in her world, and Asha would assume the throne, some years would pass and Asha while visiting her best friend Dahlia, now royal advisor would bump into a young man who looks identical to star, and the two would smile.

6:44 "When Asha turns against Magnifico, there IS no clear victim."
Exactly 💯. One way or another, Asha was acting like a spoiled brat. Or at least, someone has no world experience about how terrible people can be

She was acting entitled while Magnifico was trying to create the least amount of damage.

Cleaely, Magnifico is the real victim, a victim of ashas horrifyingly vague wish leaving him vulnerableto rhe books influence, which is when his personality starts to twist.
magnifico warned her about vague wishes...and she didn't listen.
