Awesome video. My motor wouldn't unscrew from the fan so I had to drill the hold and shoot in Liquid Wrench. Then it unscrewed. Glad you put that in there. Thanks!
@WasherDryerMoney, thanks for your video help come up with an idea. I used an impact wench instead of channel locks to break it loose. Did not drill the hole.
Just changed out a motor today and it was my first time ever taking a dryer apart and I went in blind. When I ran into a halt with getting the fan apart from the motor I came here looking for videos and yours was the first I check out and it really helped me out so thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone🙌🏽
Kind of sad I didn't see you bring out a blowtorch or hole saw. I feel like our shop has gone like 0 for 20 on blower fans. At least the Whirlpool types. Literally any others, no issues. The kind of locktite they use on those things bind so powerful, they could save a Kardashian marriage.
LOL, give this trick a try. I’ve only recently discovered it but so far it has worked every time. I drill a hole, spray liquid wrench in it, wait an hour and then re-spray it. After that it pops right off. Could just be my luck though and it won’t work for anyone else. :-)
Exactly the threaded square nut step I was missing! Somewhere, I bought official service manuals for both, but they are packed away from the last forced move. Thanks!
I just fixed my dryer from the door switch and it’s working but this video will be helpful for any future maintenance for motor or belt replacement! Good job!
Super helpful. Thank you! I tried drilling the hole and spraying penetrant. No luck. Took off the back and the fan was cracked in two. Cracked it off in pieces but still could not get that nut off the shaft. Gave up and bought a new motor. :-(. Still cheaper than buying a new dryer. Thanks again.
Gotta drill the hole the right way to hit that spot without hurting your shaft.... sounds familiar 🤣 Cut the fan and the motor out of one of these at a junkyard to make a blower for a blacksmithing forge, you saved me from breaking it 👍
Very good point about cleaning out the blower wheel... I just replaced my motor but first I tried to clean it and part of that was cleaning out the blower wheel massive amount of lint in there from who knows how long most of it looked like dirt and heavily packed in there I was surprised it was even able to turn with all that in there... At first when cleaning didn't work I thought I wasted my time cleaning it but then I thought " Hey that what probably caused motor to burn out" and " Even with new motor if I didn't clean it... It'd just burn ago again in a few days/weeks/months...." I feel like this is something most Diyer would overlook.... Anyways... liked vid subbed...
I have a very loud, intermittent, scrubbing sound with my Amana dryer. The rollers were seized so I replaced them as they were flat-spotted. Still had the noise so I replaced the rear felt seal, because I had some spots where the pains was rubbed off. Still have the noise… I thin it is the blower wheel. It has just a little bit of play in it, is that normal?
My fan blower shattered, motor is still good but can't get the fan off motor. I'm able to loosen fan so it spins while securing shaft in place with wrench, but no matter how many times i spin the blade, it won't detach from the motor shaft. Is the fan somehow fused to the shaft even though it is able to turn independently?
Nice! I always need a sawzall i will try this next time i take this apart. Never thought to use pliers to get that clip.off i always struggle with that haha I also didn't know they were reverse threads
I have a whirlpool. My question is what is the clutch for on the front of the motor? Is it even needed? The dryer repair man took mine off and it's working fine. Seems like it's just a round aluminum piece bolted on the front with no special movement. Is it ok to leave it off the motor and operate it?
Frigidaire maxfill washing machine. 2-3 years old. Agitator? Clockwise sounds good counter clockwise sounds like stripping gears AKA metal, ish grinding sound. Loaded unloaded no difference. Everything else seems ok operation wise. What part/parts should i be focused on thx cj
@@WasherDryerMoney I just joined that FB group so I'll try to find you there and hit you up. Do you ever repair timers? Videos on that topic would be useful to me and possibly others as there isn't much out there.
I’ve had that happen before where the fan will pop off and leave the threaded cap behind. You’ll still need to penetrate oil it and grab it with vice grips. It’s a pain. If it has not popped all the way off, and just free spinning and stuck on there, you may have to cut and hammer it apart. Either way you’ll have to order a new fan. Good luck.
Looked into it and it looks like sometimes high resolution videos will take extra time for UA-cam to process and even though it’s published they will act up. There were other answers that I saw that were pretty much nothing I could do to fix it sometimes 4K uploads don’t work well on certain devices. I’m not sure hopefully the problem was solved itself overtime.

Outstanding video. Very complete, lacking nothing. Especially drilling the 1/8" hole to penetrate the thread. Thank you. Greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much ! I broke the fan on the first dryer motor replacement but the motor was already junked . Got a spare fan ready !
Always good to keep a spare around.

Got me through it! great job on the videos. Very Helpful!!
Thank you so much for this. I Rehab Dryers, and knew there was a better way to get those blowers off the motor. I did it this morning and it worked
Very clear and easy to follow, thankyou.
I had this problem. Tried this trick. Worked for me. 👍
You had me at "Giggity". Thanks for the help!

Yeah sometimes there’s nothing you can do about it. They just become one piece.
Saved the day! Thank you!
Glad to help

Great video
Great video! Wish I would've found your video first. Your trick with the drill and penetrating fluid would have saved my fan. Thank you 👊
Glad to help
Great video. Which Whirlpool model is this?
Explained perfectly
Thanks
Hey boss at 357-9 on the video when removing the pulley , is that little metal thing to the right that holds the belt inplace replaceable
Another great video!!!😃😃😃
Thanks
Fantastic 😊
Great videos thx!
Glad you liked it.
Hi Ben I have a older dryer motor shaft is loose and not spining the belt is it gone or can it be tighten ? Thanks 👍
Outstanding

Use a reciprocal saw and just cut the motor shaft in half and get a new blower wheel ($15-$20).
Nice! I always need a sawzall i will try this next time i take this apart.

I also didn't know they were reverse threads
Yeah reverse threads are only on a few things in life. And every time I run into one I tend to strip it out before I realize it. LOL

Good creative strategy. Oh my, perfect. I bet ou can probably get a better shot at it from the back side, drilling a hole there.
Not sure I was just do it from the front side since I have to put a wrench on it anyway.

In my area Frigidaire is not very common. I’ve only seen a handful of them. Wish I could help sorry.
New appliance guy here. Any must have tools you recommend?
Maytag brake removal tool (hard to find but worth every penny
Are all the blades left hand threaded or does it depend on make and model?
pretty much all fan blades are threaded that way, that way the fan blade won't loosen and fall off.
Tenia un día tratando de quitar el ventilador/turbina y al perforar y poner wd-40 pudo salir. Ya había tratado de ponerle pero al parecer no llegaba.
Nice video. I'm also a "refurber" and I'd love to connect. What's the best way to contact you?

I’ve been using a reciprocal saw for years to cut the motor shaft in half. A new blower wheel $15-$20.
How do I remove the motor if the fan is completely stripped
I’ve had that happen before where the fan will pop off and leave the threaded cap behind. You’ll still need to penetrate oil it and grab it with vice grips. It’s a pain.

@Washer Dryer Money thanks you
nice video I should have tried that before I rounded off the plastic nut and then took a ball peen hammer and chisel to it : )
Yeah it’s not everyone that’s stuck but about one out of five are really really stuck.
I'm replacing a whirlpool old motor for the upgraded motor is anyone out there know how to wire them up so far I haven't seen it on any of the videos
I wish I would’ve listened about the cloth because I dropped my screwdriver in 😬
Its towards the front end of the motor
tell me about it 😅.
Mine didn't have access to the blower wheel due to it being a 1/2 drive square on the face of the wheel and I cracked the wheel.☠☠
The video is green
That’s strange I just checked it looks like it’s working now. UA-cam might just be glitching out.
Next time slow the motor removal and tell people it is left hand thread.
Does anyone notice there is slight play in the shaft of the motor? maybe 1/8th inch?
You don’t have to take the back off you can use a wrench from the front side to loosen it
Not sure if it's just me but the video is nothing but a green screen.
Works fine for me?
Green for me as well

Instead of chanel locks use impact wench with a 7/8 socket works for mine. Where u got the adjustable wrench at i used vise grip.
I did a short video on an easy way with an impact wench.
