UA-cam threw your video at me because I was looking at various crafting videos including shoulder holsters. Nice work on the hat, particularly making your own pattern from a hat you already own that you know how it fits so you can adjust the pattern. I’ve found that for projects like this a known starting point really helps. A tip for telling if a piece of leather is real or not- grab a small scrap piece in a pair of pliers and take it outside. Hold fire to it and see what it does. If it burns with little smoke, and smells like burning meat and turns to ash, it’s real leather. If it produces black smoke with little fluffy clumps, smells like burning plastic and turns into a molten blob, it’s fake. Whether it’s real or not may not matter if you’re just going for a look. If you want the same durability and ability to take dye and waterproofing, it matters a lot. Ask me how I know…
Good morning to you as well. You did an awesome job on this hat ! This is the first video I've ever seen by you, and I'm glad I clicked ! If you can, please share the template you designed. I have been searching for the last few days online for a nice template, but I haven't found anything I really like. Yours however looks perfect for what I was looking for. I pray you're staying healthy and safe out there. If you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask. You've gained a new Subscriber ! 🙏✌️†
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I unfortunately don’t have the template I created for myself anymore but I do plan to make another one one day with a template that has different size options and I will be sharing that one. I’m not sure when I’ll be getting around to that one though.
Yes I would absolutely gladly buy that hat too if you ever decide to make hats on the side make a few extra bucks😊😊😊 keep the good work up hopefully I'll see you on another video
What an awesome build .I have couple of questions because you don't sell a Basic pattern. How wide is brim from middle circle to edge? Also how tall is center from brim? Thank you so much.I was so impressed I subscribed and liked...thanks again
The brim is 3 1/5 inches wide, the top peace of leather (or middle circle) is 6 inches wide and 8 inches long, and the side peace of leather is 4 1/2 inches tall. When the hat is formed it is 3 3/4 inches tall from brim to top. These dimensions are meant to fit my head that has a 37 inch circumference. Hope this answers your question.
Great video! Entertaining and informative. Also a happy ending. Subscribed! You should invest in an air brush. The colors come out really nice and it doesn't wet your project. Very nice hat. Cheers from the north.
How long does it take to make one hat with the model's and accesories ?.....i really care about using hard or soft leather...............................👍👍👍

Gorgeous hat! I’ve been wanting for a few months to learn some basic leather work for things like wallets belts and sheaths, but this I finally decided to pull the trigger and order some supplies after seeing this video!
Reminds me of my first hat. I make the same hats out of leather. Always been a blast. Lmk if I can give you some insight or advice. I love the hat man 😎
That hat is too small but it is great you’ll need to make it sit lower it’s not like a baseball cap they are supposed to sit just above the eyebrow and just above the ear
This might be a bit late but other than everything I learned and showed in the video I would make sure to take the time to figure out the hat's sizing for your head. I would also leave a bit of space for a sweatband inside the hat because I didn't, and I wish I did because the hat will leave an imprint on my head with the stitches clearly visible lol.
Another way to avoid the dye changing the shape is to dye (and finish) the leather before you even cut out your pieces
Rock on... Nice!!! That with an Oiled Canvas Duster and Leather Vest...
Incredible work!!!! You’ve got some serious skills. I enjoyed watching your crafting!

Yeah I agree. If I were to make another one it would be bigger and I would add a sweat band but for a first attempt I think I got pretty close.
This looks incredible! I'd honestly buy one from you
do you have plans for the hat?
No it’s just a hat that I wear for yard work now.
