@@abubaca2683 That bison leather is dreamy. We use to carry an outback style like the Bison Hat, in kangaroo leather....oh my heavens, it is by far my (yauni's) favorite leather. Unfortunately, california banned the import of it. Booooo.
Same brand I've had since the mid 1990's. Made much like that and a darker brown more suede leather. Favorite hat especially for wet or cold weather. Just keep it waterproof.
That hat has been made by a very experienced leather cowboy manufacturer. Very beautiful job you are very talented. Completely handmade with a man with a good eye. Thanks for showing your talent. I love to ware western hats. Very beautiful custom made hat.

Hello from Canada! I have this exact same hat but in black! It is my absolute favorite cowboy hat. It is so unbelievably comfortable to wear, and looks so sharp. Thank you guys so much for making such beautiful hats.
It's weird that I have a hat similar to this but its different, it's it's an outback hat made in Australia and the major difference is that it doesn't have a gus to it. What I like about the video is that you can reshape the hat with a little water on the underside. Very cool.
OLD Leather Smith here, interesting we all do things differently. I made mine 30 years ago & still working very well. I cut slots in the lower crown 2 feed my hat band through & it also alows heat 2 escape, I also dyed the leather before I began the project it saves a lot of problems down the road. They look great. Please make more in men's size small. I hardly ever see any when I look at hats. Either they sell out or don't order many. I even had to use a size reducer kit in order to wear the size small I recently bought.
I missed my calling in life. I started out in the work world in manufacturing things and then went into desk work. But there is really nothing more satisfying than putting something together and seeing it take shape in your hands and completing it and being proud of your work. These workers are amazing.
I have worn broad brimmed hats for more than 50 years, felt, leather and wire rimmed leather and without doubt the best is rabbit felt Akubra hats from Australia. Would not even bother trying another leather hat. But they're great for urban cowboys.
Australia absolutely makes some great hats, don't count us out. We've been making hats for over 50 years ourselves and everyone has their own style on how they do things. We aren't AUS, we're AHM

Funny you say that, I live in a semi-arid / desert climate (it's currently 104°F) and I have no issues wearing a BLACK American Hatmakers hat. In fact I'm wearing it out on the porch, smoking a cigar, and drinking bourbon as I type this.
Gotta appreciate the efficiency in every step. Also pretty amazing that the the top part of the crown is just centered by hand on the brim. I've made some leather hats by hand and really enjoyed watching your work steps.

Plus all the binding tape at the seams. Great! And, I am guessing that bottle at the end is Bick 4? Love that to condition leather. Again, thanks.
great question, this hat hit 22 stations (some people touched it more than once) and this doesn't include packing, shipping and tanning (this process is done before we get it). Yes, that was a bottle of Bick 4 👍

Nice hat, wonder how it'll hold up to weather. With all hats meant to be used outdoors its keeping structure in rain, wind, snow is what fails. Stetson or 5$ Amazon hat, that's what goes first for me.

Very interesting process, fine detail, gr8 workmanship! To the point of forming the creases, why in the world put a good-looking hat through that. Do they all come with those creases, no individuality.
Thats funny i have had alot of usa made "quality" products from clothings instruments and other things. It allways is dissapointing. Meanwhile i had things from japan and other countries that are flawless no scratches straight quality materials. And their craftmenship out blows a american product 99 to 1.
As an American I prefer American products, but this attitude leads to complacency. Anybody in the world can be best at anything if they put serious effort into it. The moment you think you’re the best and refuse to improve, that’s the moment when someone else takes over as the best.
This is because America is a melting pot of all different nationalities. They all have the chance to do something great here; something that most other countries don’t offer its citizens. The freedom to excel. This is the last bastion of freedom on earth. It must be protected.

I have been wearing good hats all my adult life, I'm in my 70s now. No baseball caps here. I have more than 20 hats and my Akubras are my favorites.
