I started when I turned 69 and now I'm 69 1/2 and loving it. I wish I had started years ago, ha,ha but I'll be at it until the good Lord takes me home. Really enjoy the video's Thanks!!
Alex, you make this look so easy. I know it is years of experience.Just starting my journey with b clay. I could only hope to be one with the clay like you. Let creativity begin!!!
Thanks!🔥😎🔥 B-mix can be difficult to center, as it tends to be lumpy, but once it’s centered, it’s wonderful. If it sits around the studio too long, it becomes very stiff and needs to be smashed in the bag, 4-8 times. This usually makes it softer. If it sits a really long time, it becomes very hard, so use it for slabs or add water and make it into slip.
Great video thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more. I was wondering if you could show the process of you trimming such a large ball like in this video. If you could show the process of how you explained it using a glued foam piece to a bat. Thank you
watched this video a few times Alex, very interesting and informative, thanks for sharing :) I'd guess that the constant ribbing will be giving more compression every time you use it? enabling you to make it "paper thin". Is that correct?
Hi Clifford, sorry about the 2-year response time! As you can see, I don’t manage my UA-cam videos very well!😂 I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I use the rib for shaping, mainly because the razor thin metal hardly creates any friction on the surface of the clay. This way, excess water isn’t needed, which can soften the clay and make it unstable. That way I can make it paper thin. Additional compression is probably a unintentional byproduct, but that makes sense.
I love using B-Mix. Such a beautiful bowl.
Thanks Tricia! Sometimes it can be stiff and difficult to center for beginning potters, but once it’s centered, it’s wonderful.
@alexlongart that is so true.

Nice job!! I can see the years of throwing 45 lb. Platters ..makes centering 12lbs. Of clay look easy.
Amazing
Thanks Yogita!🙏🏻
Masterful. Thankyou.
You’re welcome!
sweet pot, nice video, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!🔥😎🔥
MAGNIFIQUE !!! MAGIQUE Je me suis régalée à te voir créer ce saladier !!! Mais ce n'est pas un saladier, c'est une œuvre

You're welcome Clifford!
magnificent Alex
Thanks Robert. Yes, it’s probably like most things. The more you work at it, the easier it gets!
Wonderfully skilful throwing.
Nice skills. Nice bowl. Do more videos please.
Looks like a very functional ice cream bowl!
Hehe!

Hi Kathy, I don't post many videos on UA-cam, but I'll try to remember to post the trimming of a bowl! 🌞
TOP!
Wow, beautiful demo! Can you show us your finished product?
Sorry, but I've looked for a photo of it and I don't have one.
Alex Long thanks for checking. 😊
Wow...awesome
Thanks JT!

Nice job I take it that the B-mix had sand in it? That’s a BIG ONE!
No, it's just standard B-mix from Laguna Clay. Yes, it's very plastic and can really be stretched out!
nice
WOW!!!
How strong are you!?
I’m 5’ 9” tall and 165 pounds, so I’m not a big man. It’s more technique and experience than strength.
Alex Long I can’t argue with that. Keep up the amazing work!
