Wow Bre!!! Remember I requested this like a year ago?! 🤨🧐🤔😂👀 Oh boy! This is one of my favorite all time live performances!! Great song, great band! Terry Williams also tears those drums up!! 😳🥁🎸🔥🤘
Yesssss he did Big Pete!!! This here is another one of those blocks that just recently went thru🤦🏽♀️😂🤘🏽..it's crazy in these YT streets, but I'm here for it! Great request as always!!!!💙🎸
Absolutely! Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour, the best guitarists ever. And with this live album you can also see the genius of the drummer. Incomprehensible!
Yes! David Gilmour! The “Pulse” concert is simply amazing!! I was confused at who the drummer was here but looks like Terry Williams, and seeing it Live he also gets a TEN!! Wow love it!! 🔥✌️
The fact that this ex Meatloaf, ex Rockpile genius is clearly singing Knopfler's solo whilst drumming en point shows that he was and is a great musician.
This is a rare group because everyone of the group members are brilliant musicians, Mark Knofler is in my opinion one of the best guitarists in the world, he doesn't use a pick he does it all with his fingers, thanks for your reaction
I've been playing guitar and piano for fifty years and I learn new things every day. Music doesn't care what era you play it in, and it doesn't care who plays it.
My Dad died a few months after this came out (he was 45) but being a kid of 14 myself at the time, my jaw dropped at this old man lol rolling down the windows in the car and cranking the radio when this tune came on. All the more I love him and miss him.
Bre, now you get why us "old farts" love Dire Straits, their concerts are an amazing experience, pure joy, for the love of music, this is engraved on the essence of our being I'm so thankful I grew up in the UK during this fantastic musical era.
Lovely Lady, Thank You for your great post. I think it’s the 2nd time I’ve checked this post and I always love it. This is one of my all time favourite songs. Cheers
There is a great clip with Brian Johnson of ACDC and Mark Knopfler talking about how the lights in smaller venues used to make you sweat like crazy (they don't so much these days, they're LEDs), and so Knopfler started wearing a Bjorn Borg set of tennis sweatbands, and Johnson started wearing his signature newsboy cap. It's great, because they're both Geordies and they have the same accent, and the same sort of upbringing.
This is takin from in my opinion the greatest live album all time , alchemy live , most live album are overdubbed in the studio to block out mistakes, alchemy was recorded and released as is , no overdubs which makes it even more remarkable and proof of the incredible musicians
Great reaction Bre🥰🥰🥰Thanks for this. And remember Mark Klopfer plays the guitar without a pic!!!!! Just his fingers on both ends that makes those sweet sounds!!!!! Unbelievable!!!! So says Stephen in Austin Texas!!!!! 🎸🎸🎸😍😍😍🤘😎🍸
What a band , Mark Knopfler is a genius on guitar, like David Gilmour he has that instantly recognisable tone . He also produced and played on a few Bob Dylan albums and tours. Although he moved to England aged 7 he is actually Scottish, born in Glasgow. Nice reaction as always
No, he is not Scottish. He may have been born in Scotland, but his mother was English, from Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England. The locals are called Geordies, and he has a Geordie accent. His father was Hungarian Jewish, and his surname is pronounced Noppfla.
Bre i totally loved seeing you rockin ' to Dire Strats. Im a Brit & ive seen Dire Straits twice live and wasn't disappointed whatsoever they were AMAZING.this was a Brilliant reaction to this band. By the way you look Absolutely Gorgeous !!!!!
Be you Gurl! Watching you rock out to this classic……yah….that’s the action right there. ❤️ It warms my heart t see you here now. MUSIC IS THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE OF LOVE AND CREATIVITY……LET IT BUILD BRIGES NOT NOT CREATE CHASMS. ONE LOVE ❤️
For me the best live perfornance until Pink Floyd´s Pulse. "Alchemy", the best Dire Straits Album ever. I love sitting outside in the garden on summer evenings, drinking a cold beer or a good wine and listening to this album. Greetings and love from Germany. Listen to "Telegraph Road" on this Album. Unbelievable.
This is the definitive version alright. There are a lot of great moments but my favorite is near the beginning at 04:30 when Mark and the bassist look back at Terry Williams the drummer after he plays those fills.
Bless all of you reactors for going through all of the headaches you bump into trying to post reactions for us. I know it must give you a bunches of frustration. Dire Straits is one of my favorite bands. Their songs are so unique. They take you on a journey when you listen.....especially with headphones/earbuds in. Thank you for going the extra mile for us, Bre. Hoping you are feeling good... you are looking good! Hugs to you and Mr. O..... Take care and be well. Peace.
This goes to Dire Straights + especially to you Mark. God has blessed me in this human life. I played in 3 different bands in which one , l played with a guy that played for Jerry Lee Lewis, another l played with a guy that played for Johnny Paycheck , and one more guy l played with , he played for Holly Dunn. Now l said all of that to say this , they were all pro's , that for sure , but l love the way you play , love your style better than any I've ever heard + l would give anything if it were possible to set down face to face and learn how in this world you play so awesome. I remember when I was younger l would hear "Sultan's of swing" you would sing , "listen to guitar George , he knows all them fancy chord's , l always wondered who it was that could play so fantastic. You're awesome Mark ❣️‼️. Thanks to UA-cam that makes it possible for me to watch and listen to you anytime I want to. God's blessings to all. Don Conrad
Bre: "I wanted to go full circle on this chair about 4 times"😂😂😊😊 *Have you listened to Telegraph Road and Romeo and Juliet, from the same Alchemy Live concert? Gorgeous too.
However great this performance was, being there in that audience was even better. Mark Knopfler is my all time favourite artist & Dire Straits were my all-time favourite band. Gotta say Bre, watching your reaction to the performance was priceless. Thanks for brightening up my day. x
What makes it even more amazing is that the Album Alchemy Live was recorded on one night, there are no overdubs it is just as it was. Probably one of the greates live concert albums ever. Loads of great music on this album. Also remember mark Knopfler has made 9 solo albums to date, plus loads of film music.
Oh Bre ya gorgeous lovely thing hehe, this is such a great live rendition of a classic song and I am so so glad you reacted to this. Mark Knopfler is a super guitarist and as much as he has been lauded in musical awards I still think he should be more..
On one of there tours The Brothers In Arms tour I had a 3 week vacation so I spent it following them. I saw them 3 times in Canada then 2 times in the states.
Mark's use of a headband and wristbands is purely functional. Back in the 70's and early 80's especially in the UK there were not the stage cooling devices available like today. The Dire Straits' shows were typically 2 hours long and Mark had to manage the sweat that would get in his eyes and roll down the arms and affect his playing. The encore song to this live performance is "Telegraph Road". If you watch that, they come back out without the over wraps and jackets. You will see Mark is wet with sweat in that song. "Telegraph Road" is another top epic song that you would love.
Many great songs and beautiful melodies. Check out Love over gold melody. Too bad the only song that is aired in the US on classic rock is Sultans Of Swing studio version. Terry Williams definitely a giant but didn't feature in brothers in arms studio album except for Money for nothing intro which was awesome anyways.
When my first child was born in 1980,and we moved to Canada from Ireland we used to call him the little sultan of swing, this is how old this song is and still amazing, the little 40 year old sultan is still doing well living in London.
Bre, I knew you would love Dire Straits, what you're dealing with here, is one of the greatest guitar and band performances ever. The lead guitarist, singer, song writer is Mark Knopfler, a legend. You will go down a rabbit hole with both Dire Straits and Mark as a solo artist, I know how much you like David Gilmour, so you will love Mark too, check out Tunnel of Love from the Alchemy concert, the same concert as this one.
Dire Straits were massive in the 1970s absolutely massive! Best album by far apart from Alchemy live (this is from it) is Brothers in arms! Later the band broke up and Mark Knopfler has released many solo albums including my favourites - Sailing to Philadelphia and All the Roadrunning with the mixed genre misic of Rock and Country with Emmy Lou Harris.
Thanks, BigPete S!
@@cnatview Of Course!! 😎
Is the second guitarist David Knopfler, or had he left by this time?
@@TheoZoffrok David had left, this was Hal Lindes.
British music at it's best. We're poets not artists. Williams on the drums is a machine of a man.
Mark Klopfer is the guy with the headband!! He’s a genius!! Shreds the guitar like very few! A LEGEND!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Yes, Petey NY, he is.
He shreds without even using a plectrum.
*Knopfler
Last 3 mins of Terry Williams' drum-playing is just fire
All of his drumming was on fire!
No joke. This whole band is tight as can be.
The drummer is amazing!!!
Terry Williams - his dad was in the audience and Mark told him to go all-in. To make dad proud. :)
Even after 30 years this song still gives me chills every time listening to it! Peace and good work
Great Terry...great....
I truly miss the era people mastered an instrument, and really played music from the soul
Absolutely!
I've been playing guitar and piano for fifty years and I learn new things every day. Music doesn't care what era you play it in, and it doesn't care who plays it.
@@davisworth5114 But instruments are veeery rarely used in todays radio music. Pop is pretty much 100% computer generated
I get chills every single time. I feel this song in my bones
Me too bro
i love how they all "check in" with all the others. "still on same page? having fun? lets go"
@4:25 Terry Williams smoking that drum set, and @4:31 Mark Klopfer Realizing it and a priceless reaction!! 🤣🔥
My favorite moment in the song, just musician digging what the other musicians are doing
@The CCP is a parasite Yup!! Gotta love it!! 💯🍻
Knopfler 😉 Very likely the name has German origins, and it means something like "he who works with buttons" 🙂
My Dad died a few months after this came out (he was 45) but being a kid of 14 myself at the time, my jaw dropped at this old man lol rolling down the windows in the car and cranking the radio when this tune came on. All the more I love him and miss him.
You will learn Grasshopper, no matter how old you become, your soul is always 17, especially when it comes to music.
That drummer earning his pay. Great stuff!
Great reaction!
Thank you!!
Drums on this version are crazy good!
Guitarists, organist, the drummer ...oh my goodness, the drummer!
Oh my goodness is right! They are awesome!
The drummer is a guy called Terry Williams & he is proudly Welch & the sweetest guy you could ever meet.
Bre, now you get why us "old farts" love Dire Straits, their concerts are an amazing experience, pure joy, for the love of music, this is engraved on the essence of our being I'm so thankful I grew up in the UK during this fantastic musical era.
They are the bomb!!😊
This is why Eric Clapton calls Mark Knopfler the lead guitar player "Easy" !
Great Concert. It was from 1983 - Yup! Mark Knopfler (red coat) is NOW 74 years old. And can still play incredibly.
Lovely Lady,
Thank You for your great post.
I think it’s the 2nd time I’ve checked this post and I always love it.
This is one of my all time favourite songs.
Cheers
Thank you so much💙
Brilliant reaction Beautiful Lady i love how you just get right into the music loved it !!!!!!
Your reactions are great. I'm old and I love Dire Straits but it is fun watching first timers.
Hehe thank you for watching Dan💙
This is my favourite version and i've listen to it the last 30 years. everytime i see Terry Williams at 8:28 i feel happier than the second before 😅🙌🙌

Love Dire Straits was lucky to see them in concert lots of times in the 80’s my 2 favourite guitar geniuses is Mark Knopfler & David Gilmour
There you go - some of the best guitarists of all time! Drumming not too shabby either!
Mark Knoffler is Pure genius, but Terry Williams is light years ahead..a beast on the drums, he's unbelievably GOOD!!
Telegraph Road, It Never Rains, Love Over Gold... they are a a goldmine of incredible music trust

Agree with your comment in its entirety perfect summer listening, top down cruising the coast road music ripping 👍
Knopfler was a top-5 or even top-3 guitarist of his era.. and that included some mighty names. He ranked right up there with the best.
This is the definitive version alright. There are a lot of great moments but my favorite is near the beginning at 04:30 when Mark and the bassist look back at Terry Williams the drummer after he plays those fills.

I have always loved the style Mark Knopler has.l would love to hang out with you for a few days Mark. We'll do that when we all get to heaven !
Mark Knoplfler plays guitar solos that you hope wont end. Seen him play four times and Dire Straights twice. He is a genius.
You're so lucky😊
Thank you so much for considering the artists and the songs. That always keeps me coming back.
Thank you always for your continued support 💙

well Sheena Easton had a sweatband but with an exercise outfit
On one of there tours The Brothers In Arms tour I had a 3 week vacation so I spent it following them. I saw them 3 times in Canada then 2 times in the states.
Lead singer & guitar player's name is Mark Knopfler ........1 of the greatest lead guitar players in the history of R&R :)
That was a masterpiece!!! I've probably seen twenty reactions to this, and still haven't gotten tired of it.
He is easily in my top five favorite guitarists. Plus in my opinion he got better looking with age!
Saw Dire Straits in concert back in the day, was definitely something checked off my bucket list. Bre, great reaction, love your channel.
That’s awesome!! Wish I had seen them Live!! 🤘👏
Thank you for your support!!!!😊
Completely different, and IMHO better version, than the original with drums insanely good!
Best live performance of all time. Nothing beats this.😊
Awesome drummer , oh, great guitar to👌
Masterpiece. No other word for it!

Mark Knopfler is guitarist/vocalist. He’s a maestro!

I don't know how I missed this. I luv classic rock and I love your reactions. You look so beautiful!
Thank you Soo much for the kind words💙
One of the most underrated guitar players in music.
It was 39 years ago! And still unsurpassed!
New subscriber here, you are nice looking, have a good personality and have good taste in music. New subscriber!
Thank you so much David! Welcome😊💙
"Is there gonna be a guitar solo?"
You have no idea.
Big pete always makes great suggestions
Yes he does! So grateful to have him around here on the channel💙
If you think this is good you should react to Telegraph Road from the same concert Alchemy Live. It's my favourite live performance of all time.
Totally agreed David, Telegraph Road, is the standout performance IMHO.
Terry Williams is amazing isn’t he?? He drives this song with such precision!!😊even he knows he nailed it!
Nailed it!!🔨
@@Foreverbre93 I completely agree ..
"There had better be something wicked about to happen"
"We got ya 😉"
Hehe! Right!😊
“So, is there going to be a good guitar solo? I hope so…” Just wait, baby. Strap in for a crazy ride.
When my first child was born in 1980,and we moved to Canada from Ireland we used to call him the little sultan of swing, this is how old this song is and still amazing, the little 40 year old sultan is still doing well living in London.
i love mark..but kudos to drummer😍😍
The drums took a real beating on this track. Terry Williams brilliant
Queen live aide concert is a big 🎯.
Great reaction video - thanks for sharing! Love the song & loved your respect for & reaction to it!

"Telegraph road" and "once upon a time in the west" from the same alchemy album.
Also "lady writer" is a great guitar song.
Romeo and Juliet
Music brings us together, great reaction from a beautiful lady.
Thank you so much Phillip💙

One of the best guitar solos at the end. Keep it going you will not be disappointed.
You know putting you with good music, it's like a full dinner and dessert!!!
Whoohoo... Yes!💙
Feels like a spiritual event.
The drummer is on 🔥
Love too see you react to money for nothing from these guys
Amazing fingers no pick....genius.
