My hubby is the chief engineer at Ruger developing the engineering for manufacturing of Ruger Marlin guns. He has done a fantastic job. This is a beautiful rifle.
I am not surprised Ruger has been putting out amazing products in the last 20 yrs. I am so glad that Ruger bought Marlin hopefully it will measure up to the original Marlins.
Awesome job Ruger! The threaded muzzle is really great for us in the UK because moderators are more or less the norm and do not require any extra paperwork or costs as long as you mention it when you apply for the calibre on your firearms certificate.
This is the best thing that could've happened to marlin. They have always been my favorite lever guns and I am pumped that the future looks bright for them. That rifle is beautiful
Hey Brian, it's Jake with Tacticon Armament. Met you out at the PSA booth at Shot Show (I was the guy talking about the 45-70 Marlin that had the same furniture as the AK, and similar to the above rifle you're holding). I've been cruising through your videos and I've got to say I'm impressed brother! Keep up the great work!
New sub here. I owned an original Marlin for 50 years, here in AR. I bought it in like new condition, adding my 1903 Springfield to lower my cash requirement! I used it on uncountable numbers of our smallish deer as well as feral hogs! The micro-groove barrel really liked the Winchester 315 grain loading, and the beauty of that selection was what it did to game. They always died properly, never running more than 50 yds., +/-, their internals in ruins! Now retired from pursuits afield, I'll pass the rifle and scope to my Colorado nephew, perhaps it'll add several elk to its' imaginary notches!? Thanks for your channel, Teddy Roosevelt had it right about 45-70s, they rule!
Haven't seen your channel before, but wanted to compliment you. This is one of the best side-by-side reviews I've seen. Hit all the major points. Excited about what Ruger can do with the Marlin line. Subscribed.
I think all of us Marlin fans are excited to see how this venture works out, and most have a couple old favorite models that we hope will be resurrected. Me? I want but know I’ll never see are the 1894 in 41mag and a new Texan. Both in stainless would be amazing!
I have a new Ruger made SBL in .44 magnum, and I'm taking delivery of a new 45-70 Trapper this week. The first "Remlins" did have some problems. However, the later "Remlins" were CNC machined, and are quite a bit better. The stocks fit better as well.
I cannot explain how happy and relieved I am to here this about Marlin. There for a while I was worried that marlin might not make it through the hard times. My first rifle was a marlin and now that they are back to were they should be I can’t wait to get another... as soon as I save the money
@@littlejackalo5326 Ok MARLIN name.Companies have different ways of making their product and as u can see RUGER Built this FINE Product. So yea I'll call it a FINE BUILT RUGER!
Was just watching Ottawa 2022 C19 trucker protest videos, now I’m being recommended gun reviews? Why do I feel like I’m all of a sudden on a watch-list, and this is *_clearly_* entrapment? Hi Mom! I’m on TV!! WOOOOO!!! (That last bit was my Rick Flair impersonation, for those of you who are old enough to know who that is)
As a long time fan of Marlin, I'm glad to see the job Ruger did with this rifle. I hope to have one of my own in the future. Can't wait to see the 1894s and 336s as well. Nice video. I had not heard of this channel before, but I'm leaving a subscriber. Bonus points for the shirt!
I have a Marlin 1885 GS and used it to walk the beaches in Alaska. Using Remington 405 grain almost exclusively, but never having to shoot in self defense. The cartridge is loud going off, but the recoil is really mild, it's rolling thunder. If you see bear up north (Alaska Brown's) you will know it's the best defense to have. So I applauded the copy of the Marlin, I know it is a gun you can shoot all day, comfortably
Magnificent video! The SBL and the GBL 45-70 are both fantastic rifles, and the caliber is a classic! Thanks for your great work and the quality of your videos.
I'm sold. Have many Rugers, and several lever actions, just not a Ruger made lever action. I'm tired of staying broke from non-stop gun purchases, but I need this one. Like the others before it, I'll just stay broke for another month or two, and then "no more" after this one, at least for a "while".
I've owned a lot of different firearms, from savage to Fierce and most in between. Of all the makes of rifles I've owned, one brand that consistently punches above their weight in value for price is Ruger. They make some of the best firearms I've owned, at any price. I used to have a remlin SBL but I sold it once i heard that Ruger bought marlin because I was very underwhelmed with the Remington made rifle and I was just sure the Ruger would be a gem. Looks like I made the right call...
I'm so glad Ruger is putting the quality control into the Marlin. From the time Freedom group took over money was the only thing that mattered and it showed! I have a JM marked made in 1959.
They've brought the Marlin name back to what it was when it was truly Marlin. I had a Marlin 30AW in the 80's and early 90's and it was awesome. It was so smooth and a tack driver. I hated having to sell it when I got orders to England in 1996. Didn't have someone I could trust to keep it for me at the time. I have a Remington built Marlin 336 now and while it's fun, it's not as good as my AW. I look forward to getting my hands on a Ruger made 1895, I've always wanted a 45-70. It's a Thumper!
Had a JM Marlin 1894 in .357 that was just gorgeous. Sold it for an insane profit, then bought a Remlin 1894 in 2017 and could not believe just how bad it was. Spent money and time trying to get it reliable, but gave up and sold it. Replaced it with a Henry Black. Much better. Hard to believe that some folks still think that the Remlins are just as good as the JM Marlins. So thankful that the reviewer is intelligent enough to recognize the clear differences in quality between this new Ruglin and the aforementioned abominable Remlins. Looking forward to Ruger releasing the "new" 1894 and hopefully some tactical versions for those of us who use lever guns the way they were intended; on the trail and in the woods.
I have a JM Marlin 1895 45-70 and it is gorgeous. So glad Ruger bought this company. Very smart decision and if they keep the quality it will be a home run. Ruger has always been smart and well run. You will never see them sell to CZ because they can not make money. or sell to a Private Equity company and then put out kit guns........
Having been a remington employee for the last several years while marlin was there(tho I worked on a remington firearms line not in marlin), and seeing what got sent out and the way things were run, this ruger version looks so much better. I love the fluted bolt just a nice added touch. I'm excited to handle one and see how it compares firsthand
My first rifle was a Marlin 1895 I bought about 5 years ago. And it's run trouble free... But it's CRUNCHY. I was really surprised that they'd sell something like that new. But then I guess that's why I got it on sale for less than $200.
That spiral fluted bolt has to be my favorite part of this new version. Action smoothness is what everyone wants on their lever gun and it looks incredible
I knew that the Ruger product would be far superior to the old Remington one, I've owned five ruger built rifles and six rugerbilt pistols and I've never been disappointed with any of them
I've got an older 1895 sbl Marlin in 45/70. There is no yellowing on the stocks. Fit and finish are superb. The action is like butter and the trigger is crisp. The only complaint I have is, as you said, the loading gate. It 50yds it will make 1 ragged hole.
I got a late production Remlin (when they where trying to improve quality control but it was too late) that doesn’t have the finish problems you pointed out. However, one thing that let me down is the finish on metal parts that you can only see when you disassemble the gun. The tool marks on the lever mechanism are huge!
I also have a later built 1894c from remlin... its not bad, but its not my 70s JM 1894 fit and finish, but I don't want to have to ship that rifle to suppress it. Fingers crossed for a dark or even just standard 1894C threaded from the factory!!!!
@@k.robatasio9471 The 1894 Was my first ever firearm. I would love a stainless 1894 in 44 mag with 20 inch barrel and brown laminated wood stock. The new tritium/fiber front sight looks amazing.
@@lukaszimmermann2215 A stainless one would be awesome!! Threaded running a Liberty Cosmic and a .44spl would be fun!!! I want a threaded 1894c bad though!! The suppressed .38spl are QUIET
This nothing but great to hear. I love my 1954 JM 336SC and because of my love for it I have been itching for a stainless 1895 guide gun since the early 2000s. I have just heard nothing but horror stories with Remington going down hill. Praise God Ruger is doing something great with Marlin and hopefully deserving of their name.
Used Marlin 1895 SBL 45-70’s are going for $2500+, so will be interesting to see prices when Rugers find their way to market in ample supply, if that ever happens. I’m thankful I picked up a Marlin several years ago before Remington went through bankruptcy. I paid $850.
Retailers are scalping the hell out of them for $2000+ when the msrp is only $1400. It'll be at least a year before the average person finds one of these for a decent price.
@@tortol4847 I’m thinking all gun manufacturers right now are producing limited quantities to keep prices inflated. They want demand to outstrip supply. They can make same or more profit than when in full production and less wear and tear on their production machinery. Economics 101.
Great side-by-side review! I'm happy to hear that Ruger is doing with Marlin what most people believed they would. I put off purchasing a new .357 lever action when I learned that Ruger had purchased Marlin. But nobody should have to pay gunbroker prices. I'm really hoping to see the new 1894s come out this year. But if it turns out that the only place to find them is gunbroker I'll be purchasing a Henry from my LGS.
My son placed an order for the Marlin/Ruger 1895 SBL in 45-70 three weeks ago with no ETA and i placed an order for the Henry Big Boy X in 357 just last week.
@@zerrodefex So how long did you wait? just want to have an idea because back in December 15 of 2020 I ordered the Taurus 942 revolver and in January of 2022 after 13 months I got tired of waiting and cancelled that order.
A very fine review!! I really like to stretch the shooting distances on all my rifles, iron sights and scopes to find out what the gun/barrel will really do. Plus, it tweaks my own shooting styles and weaknesses. I have been praying would make such a quality gun in 45-70. I don't know which old timer said it, "but if you can stand being embarassed, take your loads to paper'. Peace to all.
I got a remlin 336 for my first deer gun when I was 15 for Christmas, these new ones are like 1100 and its great they’re nice now but I don’t think I could have gotten into the lever action platform without marlin/Remington cutting corners which means I’d probably would’ve gotten like a savage or some other entry level bolt gun. I’m glad I got this gun because it made me appreciate the platform and because it’s not over a grand I have no qualms taking my 336 into the woods too scared to scratch her. But yea I’m definitely getting one of these new ones one day lol
The true potential in the 45-70 is premium ammo like Buffalo bore or hand loading. There is specific load data for 1895’s and it’s almost a different cartridge by comparison to most factory loads.
Considering how ancient the .45-70 is that’s not hard to believe! I’ve always wanted a .45-70… and now that Ruger owns them I might actually get one now!
Got the Marlin Dark Series in .45-70. Love it! No issues with my load gate at all. With my SilencerCo Hybrid silencer and subsonic ammo, it sounds like a pellet gun!
Even after the 3rd time watching this video, I still can’t believe the attention to detail that so far*, seems to be put into this rifle. If Brian’s example of a Ruger made Marlin 1895 is this good... what is the rest of their production going to look like! I’m willing to bet these will be extremely smooth shooters. Awesome video, awesome insight! Thank you SO much again! ~ Love & Best wishes from Canada
I agree with everything you said except "in this day and age everyone wants threaded barrels". I'm a Cowboy Action shooter and I have no desire for threaded barrel or suppressors. Fine on some models like this one, but not on ALL lever actions. In fact, I'd love to see a Marlin 94 with crescent steel buttplate. Love the thinner forearm.
@@buildhuntxplore My remlin sbl had no problems and would group 1 1/2" at a hundred yards with 325 grain leverevolution ammo. I sold it a couple weeks ago when a friend offered 2400 cash, down the road it when. Hope these are as accurate so I can buy another one 😀
Shoving aside my new case of Ruger SBL envy, I had the same issues with my Rem SBL, and handled them the exact same way. Mine also had the additional problem of a front sight that was slightly rotated counter clockwise. It was a gift, so I never sent it back, but I was very disappointed in the workmanship.
Great detailed review! I appreciate you bringing this to us so quickly. Like many others, I just knew Ruger was going to hit a home run. It sure looks like one. I'm looking forward to seeing your shooting review.
Thank you and you’re welcome! Yeah, knocked it out of the park with this one. I’m so excited to get to shooting it. Going to be a ton of fun for sure 😁
To echo your response. Ruger went all-in when they acquired Marlin and stated that they would treat the brand with the reverence and respect it deserved. They shipped I believe it was 11 containers of tooling and refurbished all of it to new condition. As you see even the receiver is still a forged/milled part as were the original Marlin 1895 rifles.
I have a Marlin 1951 336 35 rem and the quality is outstanding as expected . I just got the Ruger 1895 SBL and the quality matches the quality of the early Marlins without question
great vid bud. i gotta say , i have the remington version and i think i got a darn good one. first off, mine is smooth and crisp in the action. fit and finish is perfect and other than the pre threaded(which is cool) i don’t see much of a difference in mine to your ruger version. not to mention how many people have offered to buy mine off of me. you shouldn’t have any problem getting rid of it if that’s what you’re planning on doing. good luck and can’t wait to see the next vid on that ruger. congrats.
WOW! That's awesome to see. I didn't realise the whole deal about who was actually making the Marlins. I looked at the marlin a few years back, saw how roughly it was put together and bought a Henry instead. Good to know that they are now worth a look.
Nice job on the review - just the kinds of things us Marlin fans want to see. Ruger smartly took their time before sending these to retailers. Of course, let's see how she shoots.
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I'm SO excited to see how it shoots. I hate that I have to wait 2 weeks, haha. But I've gotta work to pay for the gun and ammo. I have a a decent amount of different kinds of ammo, but I know I need more to show a good review...that's not going to be cheap, lol.
@@buildhuntxplore I'll be paying attention for sure. I've been covering this story on my channel for about a year now. Have not seen the rifles on shelves here - yet. Holding out for the 336 re-deux
I was able to get my hands on one and I love it!!! This is the rifle I've always dreamed of and now I own one. They're working on the blued barrel, wooden stock with the 30-30 in sights as the next one to come out. The Ruger guys are really doing an amazing job!
Thanks a lot for the detailed side by side review. I am really excited to see where Ruger takes the brand and it looks like they are off to a great start.
If your that worried about the parts on the Remlin, I would sale it. I have the 357 with threaded barrel and thinking of saving it. First center fire I ever bought was a 336CS in the 90s. Probably the most accurate center fire I ever got out of the box. It's a 30-30. I never understood why people would say Lever guns aren't that accurate because my 30 30 is such a tack driver.
I really appreciate you making this video on the Ruger Marlin SBL. I also appreciate that you went over my number one concern and that was fit and finish. To be honest I could live without the threaded muzzle cap (but that's just me) but I really like the slimmer forend. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to find out how it shoots and also how the quality control on the blued/walnut lever actions turn out also. Thanks for sharing!
I have owned a Ruger lever action carbine in .45-70 for decades. Ripping loose high velocity 300gr jacketed hollow points is a great experience. Being more of a traditionalist, I like the V-notch rear and gold bead front. I also like those sights on my Winchester 1886. When I can't get the job done with those, it will be time to pass them on to my son.
Loved your initial review. Really looking forward to what you have to say after you've had it on the range. Range (and hunting) performance is the end game after all. Looking forward to seeing what kind of groups it can shoot and how it likes different ammunition.
I had been looking for the 1895 trapper for over a year. It was very difficult to find but I found it. I dressed it with Magpul furniture and a vortex scope. It’s a beast! I love it!
You just earned another subscriber. My dad's old lever action Marlin 30-30 was the first big boy's rifle (non-.22) that I ever shot, and I loved that gun. I took my first few deer with it before I "upgraded" to a .270. I love the fact that another company is carrying the torch for that model's aesthetic, and is actually doing a good job of it for a change. I may have to pick up one of these. The curved pistol grip and slightly looped lever is perfect, and the fact that it's all stainless and laminate (and thereby weatherproof, as long as you take care of it) is just amazing. And the fact that it's a 45-70 instead of a 30-30 is honestly even better. That's become one of my favorite rounds. I don't mind the recoil, and they will definitely reach out and touch something as long as you understand the ballistics and ask nicely. This looks like a great gun
Very well done comparison. It's great to see the Marlin name and line finally find a home again with a company that cares about what it's shipping. I have one of the earliest 1895 Guide Guns. It's a very fine shooter. These Ruger Marlins should be at least as good.
Great video! It's about time someone did the Marlin true Classic justice and put attention to detail back into what the rifle once was. Looking forward to range testing videos and other content about these new rifles.
@@buildhuntxplore Yes absolutely can't wait. I like stretching the legs on my 338 Marlin Express, shooting the very accurate flex tip bullets in my handloads. My rifle just has the ghost ring peep sight I installed, but maybe one day I'll mount a scope to see what I can truly get out of it for accuracy and range. It's a hoot taking long shots at rocks, at ranges lever guns aren't traditionally thought capable of. Believe it or not the 45-70 long held, a long range record established many decades ago. Im not certain if that record still stands today or not. You should be able to find the video on UA-cam, that's where I came across it.
I live literally live 3 miles from Remington and have had people I know work there but my Remlin definitely had its fit and finish issues. Luckily it shoots great! Did the Ranger point precision lever and absolutely made it the way it should of been. Great video
Two years olds are only that age once. Enjoy them at every age, you won't regret it...but you may once that time passes. Just saying, BUT I still enjoy the videos too! Thanks
Absolutely AWESOME !!! I hope they bring back the 1894...in stainless with threaded barrels and in 357,44 and 45 lc...454 would be nice competition for my Puma 16" ss trapper.
They'd sell a shit ton more of the svelte 357/44mag 94's than these 4570 tank busters that fire $2.50 a round cigars.. Once the novelty wears off the majority of these 4570's spend the remainder of their lives doing safe queen duty..
Hey Brian, miss seeing you and your dad doing the land clearing for you home sites. Good to see out here on another UA-cam Video, especially about Guns.
Great review , especially liked the comparison between the new Ruger and the older Remington versions. Anxiously anticipating the results of your grouping with various brands of ammo.
I finally managed to pickup this rifle a few days ago. Took me almost a year to get & thankfully I didn’t have to pay over list to get it. Totally agree-this rifle is awesome even the older Marlins I had when I was younger don’t compare. So excited to finally get it and look forward to hunting with this fall.
Wow. This thing is an absolute beauty! I’m obsessed with getting my hands one one of these. I’ve been bugging the guys at my LGS asking when they are expecting these. Any idea when we can start seeing them in our LGS?
Threaded barrel and fiber optic sight are definitely a big plus as it was one of the reasons I got my Henry Model X, now I have more reasons to get a Marlin as well.
Great video, I have a Remlin version of this rifle. I was fortunate enough to get one of the better quality ones however I couldn't agree more that the loop took skin everytime you ran the action. I wrapped it in leather and haven't looked back. It eats 325 Hornady ammo like it's going out of style and consistently holding clover groups at 75 yards. Can't wait to pick up a Ruger to compare them for myself. Great video!!
I hope these guns are similar enough to be very compatible with the existing aftermarket. I'd hate for companies like RPP to be crippled by the extra expense and sales confusion of carrying two sets of everything. It looks like Ruger intends to make this a golden age for Marlin, so hopefully this also translates to more power to the customizers, not less.
Congrats on a beautiful rifle. I'm definitely going to get one in the next couple years. Love my Henry, but I steered away from the SBL due to Remington and it was always the rifle I wanted. So grateful Ruger bought Marlin.
Thanks for the information. I've been waiting for Ruger to start the production of the 'Marlin' lever rifle for awhile now but really wasn't sure if the wait would be worth it. I was considering Henry but I think you just made up my mind, thank you.
Beautiful rifle and the excitement in your voice tells me Ruger/Marlin has a winner. I’m getting one IF I can find one. Not buying it on GB though. Sorry to see gun stores doing that instead of selling to store customers. Thumbs up 👍and a new sub. Can’t wait to see it in action!!
What do you know, the algorithm worked, it sent me this due to my love for both levers and Rugers. Nice report and thank you. New sub! I'll be looking at your Henry vids soon.
I own one Remington... A 1961 40X/22lr that's unbelievable with a 5oz smooth trigger! Your review of the Ruger-Marlin was great. The comparison to the Remington-Marlin 1895 doesn't make me want to go out and pick up another Remington anytime soon, LOL! The new Ruger-Marlin 1895, however, may be a future addition to my gun safe!
I have been a Ruger fan all my life and knew where Ruger would go with the Marlin brand - just like their Ruger #1's, they are over the top for any practical purpose. And, at $1400 dollars they can keep it; it is a gorgeous rifle and probably worth every penny, just not my cup of tea in a workman's rifle. The best thing I think they did for the rifle is put one of their hammer forged barrels on it. I know I am old at 62 years of age, but all the things that people complained about Remington's Marlins is what gravitated me to one. At least Remington knew what a lever rifle was, and what it is not. In 2014 a Relim caught my eye at the local gun shop, it was under $400 dollars. Fit and finish is workman-like, Check; 1/2 buck horn rear sight with gold bead front straight and tight, Check; cycled rough as a cob and loaded just as bad, Check, I can fix all that; 20-inch barrel in 30-30 all for under $400 Clams, Sold! And yes, I have hunted with a Winchester 94 in 30-30 and prefer the 336 over them; way easier to clean. I grew up out West and I am a Marine, so I like our military style rear peep sight; however, I too am fond of both the 1/2 and full buckhorn rear sights and prefer them over a scoped hunting rifle. As a young Lad, I bought a Ruger 77 in .270 Winchester just because it had open sights; a 1/2 buckhorn rear sight was installed. That Win 94 I borrowed to hunt with had a William's rear peep on it, but I would have preferred a 1/2 buckhorn on it; here is why: by raising the front sight post in the rear buckhorn is the same as you adding elevation to a sight or a scope. Granted, you need to understand the ballistics of the cartridge you are shooting, but you never have to touch your sights once they are set on a rifle. I am a big fan of Marble's buckhorn sights. As a young man I had a Ruger 10/22, and I kept putting scopes on an off the rifle - and always went back to the open sights (Ruger flat top rear sight). .22 LR ammo is so inconsistent from lot to lot let alone different brands, that I would just get tired of twisting on that silly scope every time I went out shooting. I had my gunsmith put a 1/2 buckhorn on that rifle and it was like a light bulb went off in my brain. I can shoot things at different distances, and once your mind and eye accept the buckhorn sights it becomes second nature. I love peep sights, don't get me wrong, but they need to be set to one distance and one bullet type only. With my Remlin the sights are set for 150 grain bullets - I can shoot one 170 grain round out of that rifle and know exactly where those rounds are going to print in my mind. And I don't have to touch anything if I don't want to. You can't do that with a scope or a peep sight. I don't hunt any more, the last hunting license I bought was 30 years ago. The reloading gear and lots of rifles and pistols is all gone now, like water under a bridge. I have left all that to all you young fellers.' Ruger is not going to bring back the workingman's 336; I would consider one if they did because of their hammer forged barrels (the Relim shoots as well as the old Winnie did). The Relim cost me the average guy a weeks pay; back when the Marlin and the Win 94 was first made it would have been more like 4 months pay for the average Joe to buy one. I realize people today are playing with lever guns again, but in a both a tacticool or nostalgic way; a true renaissance! I like that for you all, the World has grown up in your own weird way (in my mind). My original mid 1980's 10/22 is long gone; my new 10/22 is a 2015 copy of what I had - a "Deluxe Sporter." Barrel, receiver and furniture are Ruger, but everything else is Tony Kidd guts with TS-200 Tech Sights on it - I get it! At least some of it. Growing-up out West we always compared any firearm to a 30-30 Winchester cartridge out of a lever gun. Why? Because it will do everything you need it to do. It wasn't some fluke of nature that .30 WCF was the first smokeless powder cartridge brought to market - it works very well. You can forget that we are still shooting .30 caliber bullets and smokeless powder if you want, but it would probably be a mistake. I have played with a lot of different cartridge's with much success, but in practical terms of buying a box of 30-30 150 grain flat nose bullets over the counter it still just works. I know my eyes are not what they used to be, so when I tell you I just can't see it - I mean it. The 30-30 still just works. Tactical is something you learn: practical is something that grows on you.

Not MARLIN anymore.Ruger owns um
@@thadfoote8653 still marlin. Doesn't matter who owns them, it's still marlin. Remington owned them, so does that mean it wasn't marlin? Derrrrrp
You don't know how happy I am to hear that Ruger has talented employees that care about true old school quality and craftsmanship
I think Ruger is one of the best firearm manufacturers in the US today. Glad they brought the Marlin name back to what it should have been.
💯
I’m so glad Ruger acquired Marlin. My son is gonna get try and pick one up for himself.
I'm so glad Ruger is putting the quality control into the Marlin. From the time Freedom group took over money was the only thing that mattered and it showed! I have a JM marked made in 1959.
Thanks for the video...you help me alot for 2023...👍
They've brought the Marlin name back to what it was when it was truly Marlin.
Can't wait to see the blued steel and walnut 336's come back! Make the 35 rem. Great again!
Excellent, glad to see Ruger knocking it out of the park. Looking forward to the wood stocked, stainless, threaded .357 magnum!
I'm so happy about these being back, and in this quality. So glad I didn't get the old one.
I have a Nylon 66 in great condition🙂
My first rifle was a Marlin 1895 I bought about 5 years ago. And it's run trouble free... But it's CRUNCHY. I was really surprised that they'd sell something like that new. But then I guess that's why I got it on sale for less than $200.
@@DerrangedGadgeteer yeah unfortunately they didn't care much about quality it was just get as much out the door as they could
That spiral fluted bolt has to be my favorite part of this new version. Action smoothness is what everyone wants on their lever gun and it looks incredible
It’s definitely one of my favorites too
I knew that the Ruger product would be far superior to the old Remington one, I've owned five ruger built rifles and six rugerbilt pistols and I've never been disappointed with any of them
I've got an older 1895 sbl Marlin in 45/70.
I have a 1894c from 2019.
The quality is ok, toolmarks and a few sharp edges but far from horrible.
Function 100%
My friend bought a remlin 45-70 in early 2020 and after about 25 shots the entire loading/extraction mechanism completely failed.
Dang! I need this! I let my 45/70 go when I retired. Way to go Ruger.
This is good news! I’d like to see how it does at the range, maybe put up alongside the Henry side gate 45-70. 😀
Ruger has never let me down and have always stood by there products.
I'm glad to see Marlin returning to be a quality firearm.
In 2000 I bought! A 1895 cowboy and love it was still American made and holds 9 rounds.
I love my Henry Big Boy X but had the misfortune of ordering it in 2020, didn't get it until December 2021.
@@zerrodefex So how long did you wait? just want to have an idea because back in December 15 of 2020 I ordered the Taurus 942 revolver and in January of 2022 after 13 months I got tired of waiting and cancelled that order.
I tacked mine completely out Marlin same model older year big holes blow cinderblocks and a half perfect for antiarmor
I have a few JM Marlins in my collection, all are excellent quality. Glad to hear Ruger is going to carry on the tradition.
3:18 "cold hammer forged" 😍
THIS is what got me excited when I heard Ruger was buying Marlin
I had very little doubt Ruger would bring Marlin rifles back to glory. That rifle looks great can’t wait for the return of the 336.
I very much appreciated the comparison of the Remington v. Ruger production. Thanks!
It’s a personal preference, but I won’t put anything through my 45/70 that I haven’t loaded myself. I agree with you.

Love & Best wishes from Canada
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate your support!!
Man. I have always wanted one if these, now that Ruger makes them, I'm even more excited.
It's sooooo much better than the Remlins. Definitely worth getting one of these.
I've had excellent results with the LeverRevolution ammo in my older Marlin.
I have a Marlin 1951 336 35 rem and the quality is outstanding as expected .
I just got the Ruger 1895 SBL and the quality matches the quality of the early Marlins without question
That's awesome!!
great vid bud. i gotta say , i have the remington version and i think i got a darn good one. first off, mine is smooth and crisp in the action. fit and finish is perfect and other than the pre threaded(which is cool) i don’t see much of a difference in mine to your ruger version. not to mention how many people have offered to buy mine off of me. you shouldn’t have any problem getting rid of it if that’s what you’re planning on doing. good luck and can’t wait to see the next vid on that ruger. congrats.
WOW! That's awesome to see. I didn't realise the whole deal about who was actually making the Marlins. I looked at the marlin a few years back, saw how roughly it was put together and bought a Henry instead. Good to know that they are now worth a look.
Yep, huge improvement to the quality of them.
Thanks! Yeah I'm anxious for that too! Good luck getting one!
Welcome & thanks for watching! I have a feeling there’s some great stuff in the works.
You’re welcome and thanks for watching!
I love it!
I choose to believe they left the trigger flop there for nostalgia. Great review, now I gotta go aquire one!
Lol that must be why. Thank you! Yes you definitely need one!
I had a Remington made SBL and sold it for the exact issues it looks like Ruger fixed. Now the hunt is on for one..
Thank you!! I'm so excited to see what it's capable of. Lots of content to come!
Very cool, I'll check around for it!
@@buildhuntxplore Have you had other subscribers mention they were unsubscribed in the last few days?

Thank you!! I'm so excited to see what all they bring back. Going to be a fun few years as they all roll out! Thanks for watching!

It's gorgeous, can't wait for the accuracy range report.
Yeah, whenever ruger tells the gunstores to stop scalping them on gunbroker
Most beautiful gun ever created.... YES!!!!!!!

Threaded barrel and fiber optic sight are definitely a big plus as it was one of the reasons I got my Henry Model X, now I have more reasons to get a Marlin as well.
Sounds very promising. Glad these and other Marlins are still being made
Me too! They really surprised me with this. I can’t wait to see the rest.
So you think this Ruger made Marlin is better now than Henry?
Thanks for the information. I've been waiting for Ruger to start the production of the 'Marlin' lever rifle for awhile now but really wasn't sure if the wait would be worth it. I was considering Henry but I think you just made up my mind, thank you.
You're welcome! Yep, you need this gun. Thanks for watching!
I love my original 1895G, Glad to see Marlin back in good hands.
Lol, thank you! I was a bit excited for sure. It's going to be a ton of fun to test! Thanks for following along!
I am simply ecstatic! I am so happy that ruger can have the opportunity to bring Marlin back to what Marlins used to be. No more remlins.
What do you know, the algorithm worked, it sent me this due to my love for both levers and Rugers. Nice report and thank you. New sub! I'll be looking at your Henry vids soon.
LOL nice! Thanks so much for following along!
Lol yeah they are a bit different than they were back then. Thanks for watching!
I really want to get my hands on one of these. Can't wait to see if they come out with other calibers for the SBL
It would be awesome in S&W 500 magnum. I’d buy one in a heartbeat to match with my revolver.
Ruger did release the 336. I own two.
