Thanks so much for this visualization! I can clearly see myself on my last day of the w-trek in Patagonia I did some years ago ❤ (even if only my feet got into the lake back then ;))

Is this the kind of exercises that are done in the DNRS program? I ask people to explain to me exactly how it works but they don't want to tell me.

It works by simply visualizing a highly emotional state of being as if it’s happening now, you get to create the scenario that works best for you, using the five senses, creating new neural pathways through the visualization, you can incorporate some movement, just a basic description, hope this helps

I've been trying so hard to concentrate while doing these, my mind just spins around and loses the focus. How long did it take you to be able to concentrate and visualize without distraction?

Are you doing the visualizations out loud or in your head? I find that I can’t keep focus at all if I try to do them in my head. In the beginning, I definitely struggled to come up with visualizations at all and stay focused on them. I found writing them down first and then reading them out loud was helpful just to get more used to it! After about a month or so it got a lot easier. I’m sure your efforts are making a difference even if you can’t tell yet! Hoping things improve soon!

@Helizfearless this partly just comes with time so don’t stress too much, but there were some key things that helped me to expand my attention span. One of them is limiting social media-constant screen time and over stimulation makes slowing down or sitting alone with your own thoughts quite boring. Our brain begins to expect a constant flood of dopamine through relentless, instant gratification.
Another helpful thing is an activity like reading or meditation. I chose reading books. Set a goal for 30 to 40 pages a day. By day 3 you should notice substantial difference in your ability to immerse yourself in visualizations. In fact, reading books was more helpful to me than limiting social media and screen time. Hope this helps, good luck

I struggle with these visualization practices because I have aphantasia (can't visualize images in my mind). I can someone imagine them but it's hard for me to really feel the picture and be present in it since I can't see it and I'm a very visual person with my eyes open haha. I'm wondering what would be a good alternative?

I actually am the same way! I can’t see things when I visualize them and actually didn’t know some people could haha. It was really tough for me in the beginning but gradually got easier ❤️ There are plenty of good nervous system tools out there though!

Wow I thought it was just me that I can’t visualise with my eyes closed. I didn’t know there was a name for it.
