If you disagree, it's because you have a lower standard of life than me.
Also, bad cops tend to be enabled by regular cops. Regular cops in America are considerably less capable than police from countries like the UK, Germany, Finland, etc. because the standard is lower in America. At the end of the day, Internal Affair, police chief, sheriff, their court, judge and the jurors all WILL SIDE with the POLICE DEPARTMENT. Heck, Rodney King was beaten to pulp while the guy was laying on the ground begging them to stop and all that was captured on a video for the world to see. And guess what happened to all them officers - they were acquitted of all and/or any wrong doing. I.E. 1992 L.A. Riot. Besides, these videos can easily be deleted by the department as they please and that's exactly what one police department did when the public and local news media found out about one of their police officer going around making illegal stops and writing erroneous tickets to motorists. When the public asked for his dashcam videos, his police department said over 90% of his videos were missing. lol....

Nate Donley and Eyedea315. I agree Nate, there are not hundreds of stories ... there are thousands. I’ve determined that it’s 50/50. You are JUST as likely to interact with a cop who treats you like an asshole and breaks the law.......as you are an honest cop who is TRULY out to protect and serve. And Eyedea.... “confirmation bias” as a defense for this stuff just does not work. Google Massachusetts State Police along with Boston Globe. You are talking about cops stealing MILLIONS of dollars. And literally acting as a mob.

For every cop that gets busted, there are 5 more who engage in every day acts which fly just below the radar.
Adding additional citations when they conduct unsafe stops, Intimidating, harassing persons who speak up, unwarranted searches, lying to the public, planting evidence, etc.
While it is nice for us to assume that the police are by nature neutral, it is the natural assumption that any criticism which alleges misconduct by an officer thus entails criticism of police as a whole. This is an incorrect assumption, but the merit for the criticism is warranted and the prevalence rate is high enough that the generalization is applicable.

Not only that, bureaucracy also incentivises them to only use their guns in worst-case scenarios.

It is ridiculous that cops here in the US train for MAYBE 6 months, are given a gun, and then sent into very stressful and dangerous situations. I am not saying that all police officers in the US are unfit for their job, I am just saying that more training isn't a bad idea. Not only is the job dangerous for the public if an officer is undertrained but it is dangerous for the officer.

I was falsely arrested in 2017 for being "under influence of methamphetamine" (cop found me dead ASLEEP in my car) I pulled over to rest on my 90 min drive home from work, I had just worked 16 hours straight. I was humiliated, patronized, vehicle searched came up clean but he still took me in. I peed clean at the station and they released me, still insisting I must have taken bath salts or something untestable instead. I am someone who doesn't even drink alcohol. When I complained, nothing happened for me or the cop. Made me fearful of cops as someone who was never anti police before the incident.
(I am a white female, but I'm very small framed and heavily tattooed which I believe is why cops profile me)

I also got to witness shitty cops' behavior first hand when one told my friend she should " keep her son in the house if she knows he has issues." Her son who has Turrets and is developmentally disabled had just been punched by a neighbor's teenager right in front of his mother and I.
      I was stunned. Absolutely speechless.
I filed a formal complaint and got a letter of apology from the chief of police stating a letter was "placed in his file."
      So.......really nothing was done.
Got a phone call from my friend a couple of days later. She was crying. She had gotten a call from a detective to let her know that "the other child's mother wasn't going to press charges." The aggressor had told the police that the victim had "brandished a knife." Detective also stated that because victim was 18 he could have gone to jail.
Victim was 16. About 10 mentally.
Aggressor was 15 and not supposed to be at his mother's home while she was at work, but with his father.
Victim happened to be Puerto Rican. Aggressor was white. Go figure.
I absolutely DO NOT trust cops anymore.
