For buffalo, using their size and number to chase lions away does that. I know you weren't commenting on lions, but for lions, running away from a herd of aggressive buffalo also does that, with the proviso that they have to kill eventually to eat. This is one of the best videos I've seen on this channel in a while. What an amazing thing to experience, it must have been surreal to see in real life.
Running fast is actually a buffalo's most vulnerable moment. If evolution later drives the buffalo to form a larger group and stay still/walk slowly while forming a circle to defend themselves, with occasional charging by the large bulls, the lions will easily give up on them.
Lions seem to be really bad with dealing with resistance from herds. Wild dogs are amazing at this and will keep a few dogs out the hunt to keep watch for hyenas to hold them off or to keep watch for the resistance of a herd of buffalo. With buffalo they immediately stop their resistance. The trick is to push them back quickly before they gain too much confidence because as you can see it takes time for them to realise they have the advantage. For this reason i stated I've basically never seen wild dogs lose a kill from a herd of buffalo coming back. Lions seem to be very dumb in this regard as when the herd is brave enough lions don't try and push them away...
@@samo6083 On a geological level lions are very recent so I'd wager that the typical avoidance of direct confrontation outside of territorial disputes inherent in all usually solitary cats is still around and kicking, just like most large animals still feel the need to flee like their smaller ancestors.
@@An_Actual_Rat No I'm not saying wild dogs look for confrontation and lions don't. I'm saying wild dogs are ready for it with a few dogs stationed for this exact purpose but lions are not. I've never seen wild dogs be pushed off by a herd of buffalo after a kill but it happens all the time with lions
@@samo6083 I'm not saying dogs look for a confrontation either. What I'm trying to say that the necessary behaviors have not evolved in lions yet. Social behavior is such a recent adaption for lions that the behavior of living in prides is entirely dependent on population and location. Past populations and subspecies show evidence vast differences in social cohesion. Pack behavior is a super advanced trait and the ability to co-operate is a very rare and derived trait. Canines are very social on a baseline level, all species living today has had a lot of time to evolve careful planning behavior and co-operation, lions have barely moved away from the concept of being a self-sufficient lone hunter. Maybe one day lions will have more advanced hunting strategies, or they will simply coast along on their current trajectory.
@@Latestsightings Is it true lions can smell gunpowder and thus would know not to even consider approaching a human. The lionesses clearly knew the people filming were there, but seemed not to be concerned or interested.
@@Latestsightings But why are they allowed on foot in the first place? If a wild animal charges them and they shoot it with that rifle, is the killing justified?
@@Mitjitsu Lions know humans aren't to be trifled with, we are risky prey. The only predators that take humans are those who are exceptionally opportunistic, or insane.
If a herd of buffalo would learn to stand their ground lions wouldn't stand a chance. I always pull for the buffaloes. They might lose a few or get injured but that happens when they run anyway.
@@9663mu I don't think any buffalo were offended. They have calves who still can't figure out that it's not wise to charge predators with their mothers. They probably get less dumb with age, but the calves have wildebeest-level intelligence. It doesn't get much more insane than a wildebeest. They follow each other jumping off cliffs.

The buffalo’s family came back to see him. Wow. I didn’t know buffalo had each other’s back.
Really amazing video 👍👍👍
The moral of the video.
When you don't see your power almost 1000 buffaloes running from 3 or 4 lions
Bruh, the way they kick the fallen ones with their horns to get up and stand off is just amazing! ❤️
I like how they spinned the block to help the homie lmao
"....o my god, o my god, o my god...." - only one comments😕. Thank's for film.
EPIC VIDEO!
Real animals life. Incredible to watch. The bonds that animals have are amaizing ❤ thank you for this moment ❤
You meant to say the bonds
@@karabomondlane3218 thank you. Will be corrected.
If only the Buffalo knew how strong they really were.
Lions would have gone extinct centuries ago. It would be unfair by nature
Awesome footage. Thanks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

- hurry, we got to rescue our friends, they are getting suffocated!
- yes yes! wait, lets have some muddy water first :P
Zimbabwe is beautiful 🇿🇼
The guys reaction was the icing on the cake.
Very true 😂
I adore lions and Buffalo alike. Wish the Buffalo would realize thier power and stand up for themselves.
Yeah but they know some would die in the process
One of the best nature action sequences I’ve seen in years
Very Nice Video Thanks
@@An_Actual_Rat ahhhh i get you now.
That makes sense
The new trailer of Lion King looks dope !
This is just incredible. Thanks for sharing.
That animal fight was like something out of a movie
Why the guy has a rifle? I hope it is only for protection.
Yip. Because they were on foot
@@Latestsightings Is it true lions can smell gunpowder and thus would know not to even consider approaching a human. The lionesses clearly knew the people filming were there, but seemed not to be concerned or interested.
@@Latestsightings they shouldn’t go on foot
@@Latestsightings But why are they allowed on foot in the first place? If a wild animal charges them and they shoot it with that rifle, is the killing justified?
@@Mitjitsu Lions know humans aren't to be trifled with, we are risky prey. The only predators that take humans are those who are exceptionally opportunistic, or insane.

To realize that someone is missing among this hundreds something herd, amazing.
الطبيعه الحقيقية الحياونية 🙋♂️🇲🇦
If a herd of buffalo would learn to stand their ground lions wouldn't stand a chance. I always pull for the buffaloes. They might lose a few or get injured but that happens when they run anyway.
Go and give training
Problem is they are stupid. No offense.
@@ritemolawbks8012 I hear you mate. Good points
Literally, a scene from Lion King 😮
Life and death daily struggle for these animals, for millenia.
Guinn: Yep. It boils down to herd and pride strength. Both are in great shape here, seemingly creating a healthy balance.
