Love the new video format, and always enjoy hanging with Kyle! Hope yall liked our convo!
thanks for coming on man! now get back to editing
Wow! My favorite podcast is now a VIDEO tooooo!!! It just keeps getting better!
Literally yesterday at work I was talking about my fixation on going on the AT and enjoying visiting the shelters near my house and making sure the trail logs are maintained. I’ve only lived in Sussex County for 2 years and I love it. My co-worker literally said “aren’t you scared going out there?!” And I responded without thinking, “I would rather die happy than afraid!”
Thanks for this episode - and channel. Recent new fan found during your Taylor/Nahamsha interview. 😊
Hey thanks so much for listening to the Nahamsha episode, and thanks for sticking around for this one too!
Just keep adding tips on avoiding situations when telling about crimes and disappearances- that’s not fear mongering.
I have Rheumatoid arthritis and I am still able to backpack, never would have guessed I could do it until I tried!
That's awesome to hear!!
Preparing IS so important for successful completion of the through hike for anyone not 18-26 yrs old in fit shape. If you want to fail 75% - don’t prepare yourself mentally- physically or financially
Agreed! Although I think even young people should prepare. Also as 27 year old I'm offended you left me out of that age category
You look younger than you really are. Lol

Subbed here and subbed Luke's channel. The editing on that PCT vid was solid AF. Such a great duo for content.
Awesome! Thank you!
Ayyy thanks, Señor Neck! Fun duo indeed 👌🏼
Enjoyed the video format. Keep them coming Kyle.
will do!! I'll start doing in person interviews eventually too!
I’ve really been looking forward to the release of the video podcast! So nice to see it’s finally here
hey thanks so much for watching! I'm really enjoying doing the video 💪 gonna start doing some in person interviews as well eventually
Warning: 7 minutes and 22 seconds before they actually start talking about the topic.
Thank you!
Yayyyy ! Luke is so cute as well! Bonus!
Just watched this episode. Definitely agree that the “horror “ stories need to be shared! If for no other reason than to remind people to be mindful of your surroundings/situation. Backpacking is amazing and I feel like knowing that there is always a chance that things can go wrong you’re better prepared to handle those situations!
And always remember if you see something say something!
I cannot through hike but you are inspiring me to take my kids weekend hiking. Love the woods and trails.
Thanks for the video format. Love the podcasts. Thanks for sharing this on UA-cam.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have heard New Hampshire is a great place to have a camp chair😂
Ssssshhhh
Only in the Whites because you need to rest.
Hey 🔥🔥🥳🔥🔥 congrats trail tales UA-cam!
1. Thru hikers are different.
2. Hiking the AT will change your life.
Hikers are hikers. No one is a thru hiker till they've finished so a hiker attempting a thru hike is a LASHer until they finish; a LASHer is just a section hiker.
Thru hiking the AT might change some people's lives but certainly not everyone's.
That was great Kyle. I look forward to these!
thanks so much for watching!
I'm loving trail tales! Well done Kyle for producing these, and interesting discussions with your guests.
I'm terrified of bears ! I can live with constipation
💩💩💩. But I've watched too many bear attack videos recently🤣
You give yourself a better chance to succeed if you are in shape.
I love the new video podcast! Especially with Luke!
glad you like it!! thank you Annie!
Thank you for defending PA! I live in the Cumberland Valley and it's such a nice easy part of the trail
Fit or unfit, prepared or ill-prepared, one unanticipated fall or injury can kill the trip. Noone is exempt.
Love the video format! Great episode
glad you enjoyed the video! thank you for watching/listening!
I totally like the idea of video podcast. That said I wish some were a little shorter. Keep up the good work.
The rocks don't stop until 51 miles into New Jersey. As a flip-flopper, that stretch literally destroyed my feet for the rest of my hike. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the first third of Pennsylvania was, though. Nearly a decade later, my left foot still feels it on the pad. It's on me, but nobody gonna tell me any different. ;
Luke is one of those dudes that I just want to be friends with lol he seems so cool to hang out with
lol, ya'll are great. Totally can't hear the difference when y'all are saying sawyer. 🤣
❤the video format
Glad you liked it!
As someone who used to have severe constipation issues; I'm not surprised.
😂😂
Saw plenty of bear. On AT no problems until I did BMT when in the Smokies a bear crushed my tent with me in it. Food stored properly. However, it is more dangerous driving than hiking!
Holy crap! Glad you are okay
@@trailtalespod me too. Scared me good. Not much sleeping after that!
I’ve heard that Virginia is flatter, but not flat.
"you have to have a terrible diet"
you mean I can't just eat peanut m&m's for 2500 miles?
Hitchhiking is an activity where you have to keep your guard up. Although I figure around trail towns, the majority of hitchers are hikers, and the majority of rides are pleasant people just trying to help out. I have a lot of experience hitching. I went across the country and back when I was 18 and quite a bit when I was in college. Although it turned out all right I once picked up a person who I later found out, my passenger, when off his meds, tried to cut someone’s heart out. Just be careful. I still pick up hitchers if I can.
Spontaneous explosive diarrhea is considered good luck whilst hiking the AT.
I have Luke's shirt! (well kinda... it is grey and has different font)
Your opinion on being in shape and starting in May are completely linked. If your not in hiking shape in the being u can’t crush 20-2( miles a
Day. Many hiking start slowly and hike themselves into shape.
Appreciate your insight John. I still think it's wise to train before a hike no matter what your start date is, but it's definitely more imperative to do so if you have a late start date.
This is also true. My mindset is, if you've got the time, TAKE THE TIME! Why wouldn't you?
I was so disappointed the rocks didn't end with the Pennsylvania state line.
It is much safer than being in any city.
Pennsylvania is rocky af
Is it true that most people who self-identify as "Thru Hikers" have never, will never, complete a long hike, start to finish ? Is it also true that many people who self-identify as "Thru Hikers" are insecure, posers trying to overcompensate for a lack of self confidence ?
Thru hiking is so dangerous I wore a helmet gloves elbow pads two med kits in my Fanny pack with my camp chair and weed geez be safe out there 💀🤣🤣 oh watch out for the crazy horses and cults 😮💨
Im so confused!! Are you beefing with dan becker or are you just trolling! I saw your poster. I told you il keep commenting until you answer 😂
Hey Kyle...i think the "Pennsylvania Is Rocky" myth comes from how the trail used to be, not how it is now. When I hiked from Pen Mar and thru the Michaux State Forest (I'm a section hiker) back in the early 2000's that part of the trail was awful. The way you had to hike it was called "bouldering". The trail in that section was poorly maintained and there was a lot of deadfall blocking your way. There really wasn't any defined trail back then in some places (I hiked 2 miles off trail into a community sewage drain field thinking I found the trail...the community put white blazes on the trees). I know there has been some trail re-location since then and better maintenance. But the myth continues because us old farts keep telling you young kids how it was in our days then it gets passed on.
Interesting, never heard this before! Thanks for sharing
This may sound weird, but this is the first time I've ever heard someone describe a trail as "rocky" (i.e. Pennsylvania). 😂 In Nevada, Utah, AZ, where I hike, all trails are rocky so it would be redundant to mention it. I'm not a thru hiker on the east side of the US though so it makes sense. Just funny that I've never thought about that. I bet the muddy terrain would be a shocker for me over there.
Oh yeah PA is always described as Rocky! Come to the east coast!
Pure art 😂😂
hahahaha
I was going to make a snide comment about the dick picks, but decided not to, but what a way to introduce the podcast to video format! 😂😂
Hahaha welcome!!
New Hampshire is just a pile of rocks
Let’s go
💪💪
I just realized I could see your face,........I'm living in the future
😂😂
Another downside to not be in shape and taking it easy aka. hiking yourself in shape. You will run out of money.
true!
Ignorance births fear
Truth!
I SCARED‼️can’t live Life ‼️
Why are your eyes open so freaking wide?
I understand hiking nerd, but what is a pink bagger. Not your mom, right? Are you trying to say "peak bagger"? Are you slurring your Vermont? Ha.
Hiking will get you into shape. Most of my 45 years of, life all I ever did to stay in shape was hiking and paddling.
