I agree totally. They really did do good with that, and Bill didn't go to Jo with intentions on getting back with her. Jo, even though hadn't let go, she didn't let it be known or beg him to go. Things just turned out the way they were supposed to I believe. Love this movie

Growing up in the north end of Tornado Alley it was common to see these especially in the spring time.
I've followed many tornadoes over the years.
We once had one that dropped from a single thunder head cloud with sunshine all around us and was on the ground for over 20 miles.
I followed to from the time it spawned until it dissipated.
That one was only an F2.
Thankfully the damage was minimal and no one was injured or killed from that one.
An example of an F5 tornado is the one that hit Joplin, MO. in 2011.
It had a damage path a mile in width.
The tornado was on the ground for 46 minutes.
It did $2.8 billion in damages making it the most costly tornado in US history.
1,150 people were injured and there were 158 deaths.

Want to hear something strange? I'm an ex-Sports Car Club of America volunteer worker (flagging/communications/safety) & driver. Whenever I miss the old gang, I don't watch racing - I watch "Twister". I can hang the name of a real person on every personality on that storm chase team. I'm Rabbit, BTW..'take care of your equipment, trust your training, and trust your people.' I still remember telling the newbies not to just throw their radio & headset into a box ("..roll the maps.." 🤣) Loved your story about the one you chased from a single thunderhead..the world's a weird place sometimes, isn't it?

Twister never gets old. I tend to watch this movie in the Winter months when it's too quiet & storm season is over. Grew up with that classic 27 years ago now. As a chaser myself for the National Weather Service in Texas, I can relate to the movie in so many ways. Yes, it's is not 100% accurate, but it's still a masterpiece & it has aged quite well besides the CGI obviously looking out dated. Now a sequel is coming July 19th, 2024 after so long.
Rest in peace to Bill Paxton, Van Halen, & Philip Seymour. Gone, but not forgotten.

I encountered a tornado when I was 10 year old. A storm blew up out of nowhere, and I was maybe 100 yards from our farmhouse when the sky went completely green, then totally dark. Suddenly the wind was blowing so fast that it stopped me in my tracks. And then, for one sickening moment, I felt myself starting to lift off the ground. And then, just like that, it was gone. Never been so scared in my life. Had a phobia about storms and air raid sirens (which they use in Indiana to announce the approach of severe storms and tornadoes) for years.

"But Dusty is different." Yeah, you could say that! This is perhaps my favorite performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The bladed tools in the barn were scythes, which are like manual lawn mowers without any moving parts. They're also a symbol of the grim reaper. Must have been a false foreshadow, or maybe it does speak to the character of the homeowners.

Tornado alley is amazing and scary. We have a couple of touchdowns here and there in Texas. Wonder how the remake will be that will come out this year. Good job you two.

    • @reznik232
      @reznik232 3 місяці тому

@@MoMoMyPup10 Originally it was rumoured to be about Jo and Bill's daughter, but the scriptwriter has since said it's not.
Apparently it's not a follow on type of sequel, but rather is a stand-alone story with all new characters but set in the same "world".
      The trailer is on UA-cam.

Dorothy was based on toto in the early 1980s, a similar concept drop toto in front of an oncoming tornado for measurements, but unfortunately, there was no success, but toto did track a few dangerous thunderstorms you may find some documentaries on toto from the time period I saw it on TV as a child.

"How are they not getting dismantled?" They would've been. The debris would have torn them to shreds. No way they would've survived a direct hit like that. But, Hollywood.

I actually wish Bill and Jonas would have put their differences aside and brought both teams together to finish the work. Maybe Bill and Jonas could have jumped in the truck together going after the final twister and added in a "just like old times" comment.

This movie was made on the cheap.
Bad editing and graphics should have killed this movie...
However, that year WAS the biggest season of major tornadoes ever.
The fact that the actors were respected and worked great together made all the mistakes not so important.
This is one of my top 10 comfort zone movies.
